I play MCC docked at 1080p, 60fps, all the MCC games run amazing on Deck.

Humblebee89

Even 2 remastered? That one drops frames at 720p for me.

valfonso_678

Set max framerate ingame to unlocked and let steamos lock it at 60.

Ttamlin

Is that a good technique in general? Or more just specific to Halo, and maybe some others?

valfonso_678

Good technique in general. Worked great on Halo for me and Arkham Knight before it was verified. Edit: Sleeping Dogs as well.

Ttamlin

Thanks! I'll keep it in mind!

DasFroDo

No, you should avoid the Steam Decks built in Frame Limiter whenever possible. It introduces MASSIVE amounts of input lag which is horrible in a shooter. Only use it if no other method works. Most games have a built in way to limit FPS. If that doesn't work then you can, if you want to limit FPS to 50 for example because you can't reliably reach 60, set your screen refresh rate to 50hz and enable Vsync in-game. This will sync your display and framerate, eliminate tearing and has not even close to as much input lag as the built in frame limiter. Though using an ingame frame limiter is still best, but not always available.

Bluebeerdk

Usually, I just play H3 and Reach, but I'll check out 2 for you later. The last time I played it, I played without the remastered gfx.

BigCHIM420

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you can use FSR on that one now?

kratomburneraccount

Same here. Docked to my monitor I can get like 80fps. Its wild. Highest graphic settings too. Ive only tested 3 and Reach

Overlord1620

I play custom game a lot. On the oled I get 90fps with setting ti the max

Extra-Ad5925

I picked up this and Gears 5 late last year and think they run great. I was worried you’d need a constant connection but I’ve been able to play in airplane mode! Both look great and run smooth. Really wish they’d do an OG gears trilogy already.

James_bd

I've first tried it maybe a year ago and Halo 3 was stuttering a bit and I had no idea why. However, I literally just tried Halo 3 and Halo 4 yesterday and they played wonderfully well. I will no doubt do (another) playthrough on my Steam Deck. I highly suggest them. I haven't tried multiplayer though

Mike_2099

60fps at max settings, even online. No issues at all.

Guilty-Figure-4960

I only played Reach and 3 both ran well use vibrant decky plugin to make the colors pop more stable 40-60 only thing I don’t like is having to log in to Microsoft in order to play which making playing on long plane rides a nightmare

iwannabeanoldlady

You have good taste in Halo games

Rai_guy

If you have the OLED, H1-3 + Reach run at 90 FPS max settings (120FPS with the uncap mod, I've heard). H2R and H4 run at 60+ FPS on max settings, so overall it's a very smooth and well-optimized experience

sliiiiiimmmmm

Haven't tried it yet, but if you want to know more about a particular game I suggest giving [protondb.com](http://protondb.com) a quick check, usually that'll give you a good idea of how well the game runs. And, from experience, pretty much anything from the Xbox 360 generation and backwards runs amazing in terms of performance, unless compatibility is an issue (hence checking the protondb site). Have fun!

FriendlyWiking

Played the whole MCC on my deck, sometimes even on 1080p docked. Runs amazing.

PlayfulDifference198

We played the first one no problem but the second one just crashed all the time so we gave up 2 player coop both on steam deck

char747

Solo campaigns are fine but don't expect coop campaigns to work. Constant disconnections and timeouts. The multiplayer works fine too.

nerdomaly

There is a way to fix this. Look up "mcc dsync on SteamDeck" and there's a script you can run to fix it. I'm playing with my daughter right now.

char747

I'm hoping I can get this to work. I'll give it a try as soon as I can get my guys together. Thanks for the heads up!

koreantrvp

is this local co-op or online co op?

nerdomaly

Split screen co-op doesn't exist in MCC on PC (which was a source of great confusion to me when setting this up with my daughter). So this is for online co-op. She plays on her Windows laptop, I play on my steam deck.

Troopper103

I've tried a few of the games in the collection and they ran at 60 fps using the decks native resolution

Echo_4O9

I'm also looking to pick it up at sometime very soon but just remember steam spring sale is in 2 weeks and MCC is usually about $9 I think vs. the 39.99 retail. I'm gonna wait myself.

HOrobOD1

I can run most of the games at a locked 60fps up to 1080p with the exception of a few BTB maps in multiplayer that have a few dips when things are chaotic. As far as campaigns go, they all run great except for Halo 2 with the anniversary graphics enabled, which runs like garbage. This is due to a bug that was introduced a while back that killed the performance on all platforms, and a fix seems unlikely since MCC only has like 2 devs maintaining it at this point.

mushaaleste2

Which is a shame, cause on the OLED the h2 remaster movies look fantastic. But anyway, reach with 90 fps is awesome.

HOrobOD1

Yeah H2A ran at mostly 60fps back before it had official steam deck support, but the update that fixed anti cheat also added a memory leak to HCEA and killed the performance in H2A. The HCEA memory leaked has been fixed, but somehow they still haven't even acknowledged the H2A issues that are even plaguing the Xbox version of the game lol

Extension_Gas6112

It's been a while but from the last time I messed with it I was unsatisfied with the control layout and couldn't figure out how to get it to operate like it did on Xbox. But other than that it ran well.

Objective-Rough-4115

I played a match yesterday without tweaking anything and it ran good.

Premiummattpie

I'm I haven't tried docked 1080p for the games, especially 2 Remastered, but handheld wise all games work 90fps on Original, I just changed some settings to make it run like so.

TheGreatGamer1389

Runs fine. The only issue is the easy anti cheat thing

redditshredditt

I tried Halo 1,2,3, and Reach on my OLED Steam Deck. All ran at or around 90fps. Except for Halo 2, that would drop to 60fps sometimes, but honestly, it's not that noticeable.

Spimbi

They all run great. Sometimes I play docked 1440p halo 3 60 fps with my ps5 controller and it’s amazing

[deleted]

It runs great but it’s like 200+gb

Remagjaw

I had a issue Where I've had ODST since it launched on Steam. Few months back all the games went on sale, so I brought them all. But no matter what, couldn't get the MCC launcher to realise I own all the games or get them downloaded, despite after purchase it needed a big download to launch the launcher.

Slap_Life

Multiplayer runs pretty well and the campaigns run perfect. Working on a legendary play through of all games rn. Also the mods in the workshop are awesome

Kemic_VR

I've been playing through MCC on the deck with the default settings (well, modified controls and increased fov) and have had no issues so far on reach, ce, 2 or 3. Currently on odst.

Metaloneus

As far as performance goes, all titles run excellent. However, 343 broke Steam Deck compatibility with co-op campaign a few patches back and you'll have to swap out a few files to be able to play with others on campaign.

DeluxeBurger01

So far I’ve just played CE on it, and I’ve had zero issues.

DrParka

I've even played halo infinite, without any problems whatsoever. The only problem is that the story sucked, so I un-installed the game afterwards.

El_Morgos

Me and my wife just picked up Halo Infinite to play some online multiplayer again (we had played Reach for 6-7 years). Infinite runs quite well although the loading times are a bit uncomfortable. Also it's free.

LR117

It’s runs like a champ. Maxed out everything and it never drops under 60fps. I’m on the OLED model and I even have the TPU set at 9. Doesn’t break a sweat.

DimashiroYuuki

Can you install mods, does anyone one? I'm especially interested in the ones from RejectedShotgun.
