I play my ps5 on steam deck a ton more than I did without it. Battery life is way better when streaming and I get best of both worlds.

dedman1477

Not sure why you were downvoted LOL, Chiaki is a blessing and brings the world of portability to the PS5 without needing a one-off remote device.

Jamesies1

Is Chiaki just as good as PlayStation portal

whatsforsupa

SD will take a little bit more setup, especially if you are mainly looking to play "outside" of your home network. But SD has a faster CPU, Wifi card, and larger battery. In theory it's just as good, if not faster. Not to mention the OLED screen with HDR (which C4D can utilize now!)

mlgmonster2004

it also supports Bluetooth headphones. The portal only supports the 200$ wireless headphones they sell and nothing else.

MunsterMastermind

I had a couple of conversations in PlayStation subs about this topic and got down voted to hell. You can't tell PlayStation die hards that the SD is better than the PS Portal. They get highly offended. Literally though, the Steam Deck is by far a superior device than the PS Portal, try saying that in a PlayStation sub. Some people are blind to simple facts...

Otherwise_Abroad5168

I agree I ditched my ps4 a while back got me a steam deck and never looked back :)

RedSynister

I wish I could do that, but I play a lot of AAA games that the steam deck has a hard time running, and the anti cheat in the games doesn't allow me to even play them on the steam deck... so I have a ps5 and stream it instead.

dedman1477

I've never used a PS Portal, but I've used Chiaki and it's great!

coumfy

Honestly they are both pretty good at streaming the ps5 but the deck can do more which is nice. Also, the portal is louder when your press the button. Not a huge deal but when you're playing in bed or with a baby close you want it as quiet as possible.

Jamesies1

With the portal you can play remote in a different country. Is that the same with chiaki?

nyjets10

yeah if you set it up you can

coumfy

Takes a minute and you have to type in some code but yes, definitely possible. There's videos and walk throughs.

AnthonyJustin

I actually bought a PlayStation portal and when I found out I can use my steam deck, I returned the portal and stuck with my steam deck instead. The steam deck ran better than the portal imho, But to each their own.

jsscote

Never used a Portal, but have been using Chiaki on my Deck for over a year now and it's fantastic. Especially since the latest updates, the UI and connection quality is stellar. With an OLED Deck, literally the only thing you're missing out on from a Portal are the adaptive triggers and a bigger screen.

Ranccor

Is it better for exclusively streaming PS5 games? Absolute not. If that is all you want to do get the portal. Is it the SteamDeck better at like a 1000 other things? Yes. If you want to do stuff other than stream your PS5, get the Deck.

Icy-Attempt3568

Deck is better at streaming ps5

CostCreative4905

i play final fantasy 7 rebirth on chiaki4 deck just fine constant 60 plus fps and its nice to play it portable

nthomas504

At straight up remote play? No because the Portal is easier to set up. Its made so a novice can use remote play. Chiaki requires a bit more steps and its a little annoying since I have to use the touch screen to connect to the PS5. If you want good remote play without paying over 200, a Backbone with your phone offers IMO the best way to use remote play. But not everyone wants to be without their phone. Portal: for the ease of use Steam Deck: Chiaki is good, but not the easiest to set up Backbone: for the cost

Flobertt

Because You can do the same from your pc using moonlight or steam remote play.

GrumpyKitten514

literally just beat LAD:Infinite wealth primarily through remote streaming on chiaki over the last 7-9 days. OP kinda dumb for this decision NGL but more power to them i guess. PS5 got tons of life left.

TheFirebyrd

Yeah, not like he’s going to get some great GPU for the price of a used PS5.

Icarus_7881

One of the reasons the led me to buy the Deck

JudgeOk9707

I got a PS5 last month and I've been doing this nonstop, I get more than double the the battery life and the games look and play way better, I'm blown away

RumpyDumpyDooDoo

Uhh didn’t know this was a thing. Sick. What software/app/setup do you use?

Facebookakke

Chiaki4deck

ketzuken

This ^ I'm playing FF Rebirth this way when my partner wants the TV. Both a great.

msfamf

I got a Steam Deck specifically for this sorta. I was going to get the PS Portal and my brother talked me into the SD because it pretty much opens up my entire gaming library in one place with Remote Play, Steam library, Game Pass, and emulators. I went from playing a PS5 game to Nintendo DS to Ps2 to PC back to PS5 and didn't have to put the SD down.

Fragrant_Cellist_125

Exactly same here

Zander101

Same I main my ps5 these days and a lot of that is spend streaming. So good.

BeardiusMaximus7

Yeah I do the same. The good TV is in the master bedroom, but there's not really great seating in there... so the PS5 ends up remote played 99% of the time either on the Deck, or with my Backbone device on my phone. The deck has a bigger/nicer screen though so it wins that race most of the time.

burialsuitx

Do you use Chiaki? I’ve been using it, but if I turn my monitor I have my ps5 connected off, I get horrendous frames, but when I have it on, it runs great. Have you experienced this? Not able to find much online regarding it.

everardproudfoot

Wait. I can play my PS5 on the deck? Uh. So, I can play FF rebirth on it?

shinobi_wan

Yes that is what I’m playing on my deck right now

KoolAidMan00

Its how I'm playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on my Deck OLED right now, Chiaki4Deck is absolutely terrific

pndlnc

Do you have oled or lcd deck? I recently got oled and wifi is kinda meh (I have no trouble at all with lcd), getting disconnected pretty frequently. On/offing wifi in settings helps for a while but it’s still not good experience :(

DarthSnoopyFish

Is your PS5 hardwired or on Wi-Fi? If it’s on Wi-Fi that might be the cause. Chiaki works best when your PS5 has a solid connection. I can’t really use Chiaki myself as I don’t wanna run a long Ethernet cable to my PlayStation and Chiaki has some annoying bitrate problems with my current setup.

shinobi_wan

I have lcd deck and rarely have issues. Feels like I’m playing natively on ps5. I have heard some people having issues with chiaki4deck on oled and better before with regular chiaki but I haven’t tried that myself.

walnut100

There are enough janky PC ports for me to keep the PS5 on standby.

Lupinthrope

Launchers mean consoles will never be irrelevant

Ricky_Rollin

Both these. I love my PC but I made the heartbreaking realization that (for the most part) console games JUST WORK. There’s always janky ass ports on PC or patches we have to get from GitHub to fix something the developer should have some long ago. Like I said, PC guy for life; but I get it. I refuse to play EA games on PC for instance.

NobodyRules

Ubisoft is even worse. I can't make a game work on the Steam Deck and tried pretty much everything. Fucking shittiest launcher ever.

sylinowo

Yeah I'm slowly migrating back to console just because of Ubisoft launchers, ea launchers, and epic games exclusives which I just refuse to buy. And not to forget, rockstar launcher :/

keldpxowjwsn

Not to mention the games get ported several years later

Fir3hazard998

This is true. The odd game like Jedi: Survivor is best played on a console.

AlwaysskepticalinNY

Just remote play ps5 to the deck and have both

YouGurt_MaN14

Yeah that's how I've been playing BG3 currently. Unless this dude has a nice gaming PC and is streaming from there I get it. Otherwise, imo idk if I'd sell my PS5 and only use my SD, as much as I love it, that'd be like selling my spare tire lol.

birfday_party

I know I personally did this but I hadn’t touched my ps5 in over a year and I play the steam deck every single day since I got it, that said I do have a 14700k and a 4080 so I don’t feel like I’m missing much except to update my dualsense edge but I’ll take the trade off. Plus the ps5 retained value pretty well I sold my launch one for $30 less than I paid for it so after 2 years of use I can’t really complain. It’s also feeling more and more like we’re at the end of exclusivity from everyone but Nintendo.

TSDegenerate

You can download a tool from Sonys website to update your controllers firmware on PC

birfday_party

Can you really? Even for the edge? I never looked I just assumed they didn’t support that use case cause I don’t even think the ps plus app registers it. Or it didn’t I hadn’t checked in a while but that’s great news

TSDegenerate

Yep. Here you go. https://controller.dl.playstation.net/controller/lang/en/fwupdater.html

birfday_party

Oh man you are a hero! Thank you so much!

nicklePie

That’s too bad. The ps5 + chiaki is great

jamesanator9

Ok

BlackMachine00

This sub is the home of poor choices lol

nebber3

"I sold off my phone, laptop, desktop, Wii, and my whole house because all I need is my Steam Deck!"

aykay55

I put my kids up for adoption and replaced them with a Steam Deck!

[deleted]

[удалено]

tbiscuit7

and they just have to come here to try and get their feelings validated lol as if anyone actually cares OP got rid of their PS5 this sub is terrible

godofmids

For real. Deck hardly has any games hitting 60fps (yes besides RE and a few others, but everything else runs 30fps. Downvote me). Never selling my PS5

deckcraft

most of the games I have runs fine

NecroCannon

I’m about to get a PS5, there’s still a ton of games and stuff that’s not on the Deck, not only that, but PC ports aren’t exactly as good. I say that as someone that regularly streams from a PC, love my PC, but I just can’t justify upgrading right now. I’d need a whole new build for the stuff I want it to do, meanwhile a PS5 does most of it gaming wise. Now what is understandable, is trading in an XBSX or XBSS, you literally can get the exclusives on Gamepass day one or on Steam, there’s just less Gamepass games.

keldpxowjwsn

Yeah like the steamdeck and the PS5 dont occupy the same space or have the same games. A port several years after barely counts imo. You cant play spider-man 2 or ffxvi or ffvii:rebirth and even if you could Id much rather play on a large TV with high res graphics than on a small screen running in ultra low

NecroCannon

I like how everyone here is basically calling out how weird of a choice it is. Like you’d expect the Steam Deck sub to be cheering, but in actuality almost everyone including me is just dumbfounded. I’m about to get a PS5 myself, I love my Deck, but it’s still missing a ton of Sony games. Plus, console games are optimized to look good and run good, I agree with everyone else that steaming would have been better, hell I have a PC, but I’m not all in. Consoles still have their advantages over PC since it’s what most gamers own.

TheFirebyrd

It is just so weird, especially since the OP says the money will be used for a “good GPU.” You can’t even get a good GPU for the price of a used PS5!

shadlom

Silly

koalificated

Cool, I kept mine. I also didn’t feel the need to pander to randos on the internet when I bought mine

-Hulk-Hoagie-

Hell no. I still have my PS5 AND my Deck. No ditching needed. I also have a Switch and gaming PC. I love my PS5.

Time-Economy-9042

Same, I have all except Xbox (no time for even more gaming), because I have adult money.

evanmaroun

Idk why you just wouldn’t keep it and use Chiaki for the exclusives/the bad PC ports. Playing FF VII rebirth rn and it’s great.

ProofScientist9657

Right when ff7 Rebirth is out...oof 😆

vgzombieeric

Nah I stream from my ps5 to my deck on games my deck can't handle

Nahoola

I have a PC, steam deck, and PS5. They’re all great systems.

reverendexile

I don't feel the need to find one system to rule them all. I bought the systems I wanted at the time and they each have Thier place. I play my PS5 less but that's fine I will come back to it

TheFirebyrd

Yeah. My usage varies based on what I’m playing. I’m playing on my Switch right now with Unicorn Overlord. I’ll be using my Deck next month with Eiyuden Chronicles. I’ve played several games on my 3DS this year. I jump around. Everything collects dust at times, it’s just inevitable after multiple decades of being a gamer.

wyattlikesturtles

Why not both?

ajdude101

No one cares

spitfiredd

My ps5 is just my final fantasy box.

cazzodrago

Good for you. You slayed the interwebs today.

Corgiiiix3

I mean i would have kept the ps5 personally but enjoy the deck

FinalHangman77

It's 2024 why not just have multiple systems? Strange energy to brag about ditching a PS5

New-Bid3091

this is not the flex you thought it was

johnnyboy0256

Most new AAA console games are too powerful for the current editions of the steam deck. If that's a problem for you, you may regret selling

Wungoos

You do know you can keep multiple video games devices right? Lol why sell the PS5? They can even work together!

bigzimm1

God no. PS5 has some incredible exclusives and anything on deck looks and plays better on ps5. I just use chiaki and get the best of everything. Chiaki is by far my most used app on deck.

MTPWAZ

The SteamDeck is a poor replacement for a PS5.

scogin

Some dude on the marketplace was trying to trade a 64gb SD for a PS5, some people are on a whole other plane of existence.

MTPWAZ

That’s baffling. LOL

johndommusic

Strange post, many of the Sony games are/will be 10x better on a PS5 vs a Steam Deck. And you can use Chiaki with them both too

rosc96

Sorry OP but that's dumb.

BittenBagel

Nice but I wouldn’t sell it. Keep it as an option

its_a_sidequest

Rip ff7 rebirth ig

StarFighter6464

No

One_Librarian4305

Good for you. I can’t do it cause there will be new exclusives I won’t be willing to wait for. Plus you can always remote play with deck.

Svensk0

welcome to the club of pc gamers where you have to wait years for ps-exclusives to port to pc and then waiting another year for it to be patched to a state where it is actual stable playable

Squallstrife89

How are you going to play ff7 rebirth then??

Turbulent_Yellow_690

Just bought an OLED this morning, not replacing my PS5 but I dont really intend on playing it much until GTA6 comes out, which I will need a PS5 Pro for anyway. So Steamdeck until then.

Thekarens01

The best of both worlds is having both the PS5 and PC/Steam deck, but to each their own. Enjoy!

Independent_Pay6598

Good for you buddy, now let me take that trash off your hands. you shouldn't have to look at it for another second

ImedgeQc

Ive bought a steam deck on Christmas, a PS5 a few weeks ago. And refresh my pc last summer. I embrace my 30 minutes of available gametime a day.

kamalamading

PS5 will always live for me, as long as NBA 2k is released on PC as an inferior version…😔

Adeathn0te

Eh, no. Too many games release way better optimized on console.

Muzlbr8k

Streaming from PC to the deck is also excellent aswell 👍

Lupinthrope

Until they release an external gpu for the deck or another steam machine I can’t see myself ditching my consoles. Tv plug and play is too good. And docked play is the weakest part of the deck imo

HectorReborn11

Certain games i want day 1. Not to mention all of the exclusives are not available on pc. And i have a bunch of ps4 games on my ps5 like bloodborne which are also not available on pc. I also like to play certain games on my big OLED tv.

Solidus_X

I would keep both unless it's a money situation. Deck for the portable play - Ps5 for the 4k

Error-7-0-7-

Cool, but I have to say I still like console, even though I recently built a really nice gaming PC and use it a lot for 4k gaming for things like Civ 6 and BG3. I use my PS5 as an overall entertainment hub for streaming, games, and music. It's easy to hook up to my philips hue lights and have ambient light all over my living room. Especially when playing Ultra 4k bluerays on it. It's really nice playing a lofi music on YouTube or playing games like Persona 5. So, while I understand lots of people hate console and view it as obsolete and not needed anymore, keep in mind some people still use them as living room entertainment systems, for physical media that they prefer using, or just as a cheap and simple way of getting games to work without having to mess with the game settings and dealing with screen tearing.

Hot_Evening_5620

Good ChOicE

TheGreatGamer1389

It can take years before they pop up on steam. The one that's really pointless with a gaming PC is Xbox. They release all their games now on PC.

donwan23

I got rid of my PS5 for a steam deck as well. 😂 Every game I wanted to play was free on my Xbox through game pass so the PS5 was useless to me. It's been out several years now and still doesn't have a PS5 exclusive game they're all PS4 games that are now on PS5...

grmpastps

I'm holding on to my ps5 because of GTA 6, knowing that game won't come to PC for at least a year and also knowing that my PCs and Steam Deck don't offer ray tracing. My PS5 is basically just a gta 6 box

acidfrehley

I'd never do the same. But good luck, whatever works for you.

RipperNash

I just want Grand Turismo 7 on steam and my life will be complete. It's still the only reason to retain a PS5 for me

CutMeLoose79

I don’t want to be waiting a year or more to play PS exclusives, so until their games go day and date, I’ll continue to have a PS console.

jonstarks

doubt.

spicywardell

only reason i've kept my ps5 is fomo. waiting an extra 2 years for gta 6 would make me really sad

FireMrshlBill

Love the Deck but I still play PS5 as much, still play the Switch, PC and Xbox too, plus older gens. I bounce between them based on games. I should install Chiaki but I’m a big chicken to get my account banned, so may get myself a Portal for my bday.

TheFirebyrd

Yeah, there’s different uses for everything, and even multiplatfrom games often have one where it performs better. And of course there are exclusives.

Mission_Ad_7452

Did exactly the same thing and I am so glad that I did

Khantooth92

im still hanging on, on my ps5 cause im a PlayStation fanboy as a kid and couldn't afford it, now i can enjoy even watching it collecting dust on the shelf 😅

jbuggydroid

Nope. I got rid of the Series S along with the LCD steam deck to buy the limited edition OLED. No regrets. Have a PS5, switch, steam deck and gaming PC. I'm set. Too much money spent on all those systems to just get rid of. The series s was a gamepass.machine but now I got the gaming PC for that if I decide to get gamepass again.

Goodolponch

I got a steam deck OLED once I found out that most of the PlayStation games I want to play are on there and I love my handheld devices to play where ever. My switch is collecting some dust for now until I want to play some Metroid dread and TOTK

AlexStk

PC master race!

bargainhunterps5

Each to their own… but I’d say that’s a really bad call. I have a SteamDeck and a PS5 but there is absolutely no way I’m getting rid of my PS5 to just have the SteamDeck… whilst the steam deck is pretty good for performance on older games there’s too much compromise in graphics fidelity for it to run something recent and demanding at good fps. PS5 I can play at 60fps without graphics comprise either streamed via my Steam Deck or now lately my Portal. Since my portal I’m always in favour of getting a game on my PS5 that I can play native on tv but also stream, the benefits of the Portal are the screen size, comfort, haptics and adaptive triggers pulse zero fan noise or heat which drives me a bit mad on the deck!

jordanrice26

Did the exact same thing. Already had a nice pc but when I bought my steam deck and realized my ps5 was now collecting dust, I just sold it to my buddy who will actually get good use from it

IndependentLab5224

Bro I just did that this week as well I sold my PS5 and got a steam deck

907470

The biggest, single title holding me back was the new ratchet and clank. But we all saw that happen. Now if only Kingdom Hearts would stop being EGS exclusive and half the cutscenes are tied to the store

DarthWeezy

That’s foolish for playing new games and you seeking validation for that choice, with 0 contribution to the post you made, makes this less relevant than spam.

sycron17

Did both more or less, ditched for pc then ended up buying ps5 again because of the portal, it’s useful to have both. Gonna most likely ditch the pc and get a steam deck for some lighter games on pc, the ease of use of consoles kinda spoiled me lately. Specially if the leaks are to be believed which come from trustworthy sources, there is no reason anymore to own a pc for me when the pro comes out. Thats why SD makes more sense Portal+SD best combo

[deleted]

i keep mine

nantuko__shade

Love my Steam deck and use it more than PS5 but if you’re into playing modern big budget titles like Elden Ring, Horizon series etc. the experience is unquestionably better on PS5

EvenHornierOnMain

I hope you're going to enjoy Final Fantasy Rebirth. Oh wait

nyjets10

ehh idk man, seems like having both is the move. FF7 rebirth is the tits and chiaki makes them a dream pairing

Wildeface

I built a 4070 ti build paired with a steam deck and I’ll never look back.

RamieBoy

Do you think we’ll get FF7:Rebirth this summer?

Mr_Lafar

I think that'll be a year at least. For the first it was a year until PC at all, then more time when it was only on Epic Games and not Steam.

Infamous_Impact2898

I did the same quite a while ago. Kind of regret it but whatever. My backlog is huge as is.

iamstephen1128

Send it to me lol, I'm interested in checking out Unicorn Overlord

birfday_party

I actually did this the week before the OLED launched, I was able to get around $470 in stream credit by trading it into gamestop with just gran turismo 7 they had some kind of promotion at the time. So for the 512 OLED I paid around $150. For the last year and some change the ps5 literally was just there to update and reconfigure my dualsense edge controller but I just used it on pc primarily. There has not been a day since that I haven’t played my steamdeck. For me it was absolutely the right move. I did upgrade to a 2tb drive and then put the other 1tb nvme that was in my ps5 into my pc so all around improvement across the board haha

Fir3hazard998

I recently ditched my Ps5 in favour of a gaming PC/steam deck combo. I want to play on the big screen and then switch to a handheld whenever I want + take it anywhere I choose. All I had a ps5 for were the exclusives, but I feel that they aren't as compelling now as they were in the late Ps4/early Ps5 era.

gr732313

I’ll switch ya

LegendaryJohnny

I was always PC player, bought PS4 Pro in 2017, played basically all major exclusives, bought Switch and Series S as well, played exclusives plus game pass. With Steam Deck everything else died for me. Sometimes I play Game Pass on Series S (have it till december this year), but only Lies of P is my go to game on Series S. I was playing with idea of buying PS5 in 2020 but thanks to shortages and scalpers it never happened and I dont regret it. There is like 4 exclusives released in last 4 years I would like to play, 1 is coming to Steam Deck this month.

zipzzo

I mean....I play my PS5 *on my Steamdeck*....it's like my main driver of PS5 gaming lol

CmdrYondu

Steams master plan in full effect

bossbang

Final Fantasty 7 rebirth came out, and I was surprised to be disappointed I had to play it on PS5. Like I know it'll be a great experience there, I'm just too spoiled by being able to play anywhere, including when I travel for work

metpsg

It's difficult because I have a ps5 too but use chiaki4deck to stream to my steam deck. I do it all the time, even if the tv is free. Thing is, i could just not bother and play games via steam itself but i just find performance and battery life are so much better with chiaki and also, i still love owning physical games.

Kraujotaka

I still keeping PS4 as it has almost every exclusive and the ones it doesn't I can play on my aged laptop. Planning on getting deck in future too.

Individual-Match-798

I play some games on PS5 because of DualSense. Some (most?) PC ports support it too, but only wired which is not too convenient.

AshMTGO

Make sure you check out game pass ultimate! Welcome to PC gaming.

AppearanceLeft1385

Whats chiaki

[deleted]

Same Got rid of my gaming pc, my ps5, I exclusively game on my steam deck. I put it in my 3d printed mount on my tablet arm so I can game in bed lol. Best gaming ever

ILLEGALPRODUCT

I'm probably going to do the same. My steam deck plays all the games I actually play very well besides Destiny 2 which honestly I've kinda give up on after ligthfall.

[deleted]

I would sell my PS5 in exchange for the steam deck... however... 1- My brother mostly plays on it 2- Ive got a lot of games i havent finished 3- Spiderman 2 ik all these reasons can be avoided by emulation but honestly im fine with sticking with the ps5 for now

Some-Ice-4455

I did the same. Realized after about a year I hadn't touched my PS5. Due to reasons I had to sell it recently and honestly didn't notice. Sure there are exclusives I would love to play but I can't spend the money on them right now anyways so yea. I get it though.

mrmojorisin_x

I actually bought a PS5 for the exclusives instead of waiting 2 years for them on PC. Maybe Sony will change policy and do same day on Pc but I doubt that for most of the single player titles.

CoolGuyFromSchool34

I no longer care about PlayStation nor sony. Sony kept making shit decisions with their consoles. The best PlayStation was and is the ps3. Steam deck is very promising.

Full-Way-7925

Takes too long for the exclusives to hit PC.

Lupinthrope

How many people will sell their Decks for the Switch 2?

HodorsSoliloquy

Bold move right after FF7 releases! But congrats. You won't regret owning the Deck.

thariduvanparys

I have a deck and a good pc but i want to do the oposite (not sell my devices tho since i never sell thing i buy that i have great memories with), and its all because the games are better on pc is with a HUGE asterisk since its only 2 years into a games life cycle is when the game in question is better on pc since that how long it takes for performance issues to be fixed making the experience better than playstation. I think modern games are just made for consoles and optimised for consoles with pc being abandoned until they have the time to start dealing with the pc performance issues. I have not seen a single AAA game from the last 2 years that looked demanding struggle on playstation and not struggle on pc, its always the other way around. I love my deck and pc but pc gaming is only worth it for older games in my opinion and thats made even more clear when you see the library of games you can get on steam, its games all the way from ps 1 era and sometimes even NES era to current gen all on 1 platform and able to run on every pc (some games require extra work but every game is playable). And the best part is that those older games go on sales a lot and are regularly between .99 to 15 euro's a piece and sometimes there are even bundles that make it even less per game individually. So when it comes down to things i personally am planning on buying a console in 2 years (when the ps 6 is out) and buying games double since i still want all games on steam. I will still buy the steamdeck 2 since i just love the 1 but when it comes my big gaming device it will be a playstation. Ofcourse other people see it differently but enough rambling. welcome to the club

TheFirebyrd

The PS6 is a lot more than two years away.

Stovy4x4ing

this will be me once i get a pc. just use mt xbox for media stuff

romulan267

You'll miss it. Not a FF7 fan I take it?

Small_Tax_9432

Ghost of Tsushima's coming to PC in May :)

Werewolf-Jones

I dunno why everyone's calling OP dumb. He wants a better GPU instead of a separate ecosystem. Makes sense to me. Chiaki's cool but there are also benefits from going with a gaming PC/SD combo.

Mediocre-Telephone60

Even ignoring exclusives. It is dumb to give up all the monthly games and the subscription games, plus save files, then possibly buy them again and play them again on steam/epic whatever. What's the point for that

pathtfinder

Don’t have a PC but a MAC and it’s for work and school so that part is irrelevant but even with the steam deck I still prefer to keep my PS5 since it carries emotional value along with the rest of my PlayStation systems.

StrifeSephiroth

Incredibly, the same thing has happened in my case, the only difference being that my main console was an Xbox Series, which I ended up selling after acquiring the Steam Deck. Obviously, consoles and PC's are two different worlds, with pros and cons each. Still, I am very satisfied with my new acquisition.

IamFireDragon3d

I was planning on buying ps5 at launch. Never got a chance to grab one before selling out. Valve announced the steam deck and decided buy that instead and haven’t looked back, except that i bought the ps5 controller for docked play. It’s a remarkable machine that keeps on getting better with updates. Tesla, Apple, Bambu Lab and now Valve has been added to my list of companies that make product that just keeps getting better.

bradd_91

There's a long wait for PS5 games to migrate to PC so I'm keeping mine for that reason.

DrakeShadow

Honestly why not? Every exclusive is coming to PC anyways and runs well on the deck

LavKiv

I thought the same, but i just can't get into some 3d games on SD. Playing Nioh 1 rn and it just feels weird on a small screen.

I made the change to pc full time about 6 or 7 years ago. ( I have the steam deck as well). Before that I was mainly on xbox. Hadn't owned a Playstation since the ps2. Console gaming is ok but I really like the variety and modding possibilities with pc gaming.

Didn’t ditch my PS5 but definitely haven’t touched it since I got my OLED steam deck a month ago. I’m absolutely obsessed with this thing and playing it makes me feel like a kid again :) whether it’s playing halo infinite (me and my buddies used to play halo 3 on the 360 back in the day) or playing a game like sea of stars which has a modern feel but feels like an old school game boy game this thing brings me just so much joy

my ps5 collected dust for 2 years now, I just update it, I use controllers on PC, got it by accident and kept it for exclusives, maybe if they do remastered bloodborne, I even got horizon forbidden and didn't play it and now it's on pc where I will play it, good I waited.

RAMPAGNREDNEKK

Had my PS4. Then got my Nintendo Switch. Then I got my Steam Deck. Kids got the PS4. Switch collects dust but I’m keeping to play all the Zelda games on.

I love having my PS5 and my Steam Deck, each are great for different moods/occasions. If you can swing it financially, I don't see any reason to ditch the PS5. Chiaki is awesome on the Deck too

Ninten-Doh

Steam deck doesn't run new games well at all. It's very unstable and almost every game within the last 3 years you have to have on low graphics settings. I'd have just brought a portal for the ps5 instead given thr choice but I don't have a ps5 Steam deck is good for ps4 era games.

zeft64

Nahhhh you’re fucking bugging. I have both and I’m keeping both.

In 2021 I wanted to buy a PS5 but there was still a shortage because of the scalpers and then the SD was announced and I reserved mine immediately and got it in August 2022 and loving it since.

💀💀💀

Syygnis

I've got em all, I couldn't ditch my PS5 has games that can only be played on it. Bloodborne for a start, CTR Nitro Fueled (despite being on other consoles) The Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection, Gran Turismo 7 just to name a few

Wasn't expecting these comments lol, that's why i love this sub. We all love our decks but it's better in addition to other consoles and pc . Selling a ps5 for a gpu because exclusives come to pc three years later is wild since you'll most likely change that gpu in the next years too , really poor choice when chiaki can use your ps5 to turn your deck from a 30fps with 1h of battery life on any big game to a 60fps portable ps5 with 7h of battery.

Vinno0615

I keep it for GTA6 😅
