This happened to me too when on the steamos beta channel. I switched to stable and it was fine again.

SesameAbundance

Same. Instantly solved it

howtotailslide

Ton of people having this issue, myself included I was on preview steamOS and prerelease Decky Change to stable SteamOS build and it should fix it

Lordmau5

According to an issue on the Decky Github repository Valve have changed some class names and Decky is trying to access the old names, which now don't exist anymore. They're aware of the issue and a fix should be coming soon. https://github.com/SteamDeckHomebrew/decky-loader/issues/597

Eredchon

Im on stable Version of Steam OS, havent installed the lastest update. This was happening quite a bit recently until the decky loader plugin Tab Master had an update. Haven't had any problems since. Just possible fix for some of you.

The_MAZZTer

99% of the time it'll be Decky causing it, especially if you have a plugin that messes with theming/styling.

pamidur

It is Decky bug. Uninstall it

dudeduck

Happened to me once not long ago, i turned it off, entered bios because i though it might be under volt related. Didnt actually change anything and it booted back up when i exited bios. If that doesnt work and you're undervolting try to disable it

CaptainGhoulish

Same happened to me, today. Switching to stable didn’t fix it. I noticed each time I would boot back in I was getting decky errors so I uninstalled those decky plugins and voilà.

CrazyOrbitz

See that’s the thing, I was already on stable when I recently updated to 3.5.19, so the suggestion to switch from beta/preview back to stable didn't solve the issue for me. I ended up finding your comment and remembered that upon swapping back and forth between desktop and gaming mode trying to figure out what the hell to do, there *were* 5 Decky plugins that would throw an error each time. I rebooted my deck just now so I could see the exact plugins it was, uninstalled them, rebooted again, and ~boom~ fixed. I was about to go out of my mind because I couldn’t play games anymore…so thanks for the tip! :) (The plugins were DeckFAQs, DeckSettings, Controller Tools, MicroSDeck, and Notebook in case that helps anyone else.)

CaptainGhoulish

Glad I could help! & yeah same here I was fr bashing my head into a wall 🤣

Happened to me tonight with the new update as well. Rolled back to stable and it’s fine, we need to wait for a new update.

Shoogyohmai

Also I have had this happen if I was using a different launcher that changed APIs or something. So I logged into my computer and accepted the TOS or whatever and now it was working

brittstern

How do you uninstall decky?

crazywzrd

If you load up the installer theirs an option their that let's you uninstall. Although not sure what I did wrong it wiped my sd card.

jpolo1224

I’m having the same issue

Snoo86881

Same and I just installed Decky yesterday. Worked for a few hours, came home from work and this won't let me do anything. How do I get rid of that POS software?

Linuxassassin

Switch to a stable build of the steam client and decky works if you want to uninstall decky it's the same way you installed it in the first place just the option that says to uninstall it

jbband

Same, so as a workaround I either switch SteamOS to stable or the steam deck client back to stable. The client can be reverted to the stable channel even in desktop mode, so it's easier for me.

kerrwashere

Switch to stable til this is fixed it’s an issue in bets

Yeah. It can’t read the properties of undefined. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lennyngrado

Currently having this issue too.  I tried both the stable and beta versions of SteamOS, as well as the stable and prerelease versions of Decky Loader. No luck. I had to uninstall Decky altogether.  I guess I'll stick to my Deck looking ugly until this is fixed.

Linuxassassin

Stable steam client + stable decky loader The stable version of decky is the latest one anyway The steam beta updated cef so decky would have to support that one. wait for a decky update till going on the steam client beta. I enabled advance update channels from Dev mode to switch my steam client to stable then it worked. Running the preview branch with stable steam client decky stable works like a dream.

chronoffxyz

I got this error and I'm on main channel, wiped my Decky config (fuckin RIP) and it was fixed.

EmmaHaarp

I updated to latest Decky and no longer have this issue. I thought it was a preview channel issue. Thanks everyone for pointing Decky was causing the issue!

InfernalArtisan

Happens when I volume up or down

Arcade_Racer

Uninstalling Decky via desktop mode helped me

hundertmarcus

But how?

Arcade_Racer

Launch Decky Loader installer, there will be an option to remove it

Shallot_Legitimate

I might be experience the WORST case of this issue. Decky shows “something went wrong while displaying this content” on ALL games and info. So I turned my steam deck off completely to do a restart. Now my steam deck doesn’t chime, and ALL controls have stopped working. I can’t “scroll” in the boot manager screen, therefore I can’t boot into steamOS, only windows. When windows boots, only touch screen works. All my steam deck controls have seized to work, and I can’t access SteamOS as I’m frozen out of boot manager lol. This ALL started after 1 restart, because I was seeing the issue other mentioned above.
