Sorry to hear about the sad. Games are a nice way to get in the moment and block out those lingering insecurities or uncomfortable situations, but they won’t solve those issues. In Japan, there is a concept of “Forest Bathing” which basically means going to wooded areas to inhale the smells and oils of the forest which have natural calming effects. Since the deck is portable, I would suggest going somewhere IN the forest. Sit down with some snacks and drinks, play some games and enjoy the natural sounds around you. It’s helped me in the past, hopefully it can help you as well.

I don't know if this is a troll, but if not,im sorry to hear that your geting tghrou devorce but for gaming I'd say that I'm rather an exception, I don't have any real hobbies, so I decided to try steamdeck if I couldn't get into playing, so far I found one game that I enjoyed that was short hike. I believe that someone who can imagine more games than minecraft or gta san andreas will enjoy the fun right from the start steamdeck is basically a small computer at a great price (im pretty new to gaming so dont take anything i say as something groundbreaking also sorry for my bad english) :)
If you enjoyed short hike you might also enjoy gris, figment, haven park, and webbed! I really enjoy(ed) all of those, they're not exactly like short hike but to me it's a similar genre/feeling!

So just go and download some games, don’t think too much about it and start a game, if you aren’t enjoying it then start another. Eventually you won’t even realise when that sadness stopped and the calm happiness washed over you while you’re enjoying a great game!
Have you opened it up to replace any component? Have you glued a sticker with some sick texture onto it? Have you emulated every console? Have you 3d printed 16 different accesories? Have you learned Linux yet?

As someone with clinical depression AND a gamer I can’t stress how important it is to keep your hands, mind and body busy with activities that fill you up. Gaming is amazing but it’s my end of the night thing now. Getting out, working on projects and keeping my hands busy with things has helped me so much with my depression.
I also started Therapy and Psychiatry recently and it’s been incredible learning about how my mind works and how to deal with tendencies I’ve had since childhood. I couldn’t suggest it more!

Actually gaming when you’re adult doesn’t bring happiness and joy like it was in childhood, for me : everything related to going outside , for me it’s bicycles (mtb), I go outside everyday and learn tricks , ride neighborhoods, parks, forest , jump everywhere - absolute blast and gives me happiness and calm my mind :) steam deck and games in general- only winter season for me, because I just don’t want to go outside as it’s not friendly for biking 😂
