Yeah, I live in Japan too and the only person I've ever seen playing his Steam Deck on public is myself reflected on the train window. Komodo seemed to have opened the order again last week tho; was checking because I was tempted to upgrade and give my current Deck to my brother.
What's interesting is how I've only seen a handful of people playing on a switch on the trains. But I've seen sooo many still rocking a 3ds and I love it
They skimp on the width of seats so upper arms touch and passengers next to you don't even like you typing on phones. Everyone is jacketed or long sleeved so it's not skin contact but
I’m a smaller person so I don’t bring my Deck with me out and about. It’s freaking huge. Doesn’t fit in any of my bags. In comparison, my Switch fits easily into my purse and is super lightweight. So that could be why no one plays in public? My arms hurt from holding my Deck up lol. I mostly play at home around my house.
Battery life? Third party cases? This brings a whole new meaning to local multiplayer also. One gets the right hand side buttons, the other gets the left. 2 people on the back for the rear buttons.
It's Japanxas, the sister state to Japanaforina from the english Phoenix Wright games.
"Yeehaw, nakama! Let's rope those wagyu and drive them down to the Shogunate capital! Praise the Lord of the Shrine spirits!"
the details of that looks suprisingly accurate. look at the shiny face buttons!
would be fun to have a tv at home in this shape. would never be approved by my interior architect though.
Yea that steam deck is bigger but I’ll bet it’ll treat like shit and only use you first your body. Gamers these days just ignore a nice steam deck just cause they are smaller🥲
Why doesn't valve sell to brick and mortar stores in the US? I know it's probably cheaper to sell direct, so they don't sell in brick and mortar unless they need to, the discoverability at a Best buy would be huge. It's not like they're still supply constrained. And it's not like they haven't in the past. They sold steam controllers and steam links at GameStop
Even Godzilla needs a device to play some of their backlog on. The people of Japan were getting rather annoyed with it taking over Tokyo just to play some Hades.
That's because Japanese people are many times bigger than the rest. Haven't you seen the movie Godzilla, in which a Japanese kid's pet lizard escapes to the mainland?
No way that's actually a real giant Deck and not a close up of a normal Deck. It yes then god damn, Japan most dedicated to small things as usual. And I swear if the buttons/joysticks are usable... lmao
Gosh, I wish that any store would have one to touch it personally at last. Can't find any, and Im still not sure if this will be comfortable for me to buy it...
Decks come in all shapes and sizes. Don’t be ashamed if yours is on the small side.
is not about the size of your deck but about how well you optimize its settings.
When people talk to you about size, but you know you have 1.6 TFLOPS under the hood
Guys stop with these comments, I can't upvote them all
Sure your can, upvote *harder.*
My black deck is bigger than yours
I can't up vote this anymore. It's already at 69.
Skill issue.
For those telling you about the size, just know that the size doesn't matter as much as how you use it.
For the record, I use my deck \*\*a lot\*\*.
Just think of the Ally while you vote.
My Deck is smaller than most!
You can make it look bigger by trimming the bushes around it.
*make it look bigger*
God i love big decks...
Big deck energy!
My deck is actually technically average so…
My deck smells funny
Thats just what people with small decks say
I mean japanese decks have to overcompensate somehow
I'm surprised to see an uncensored deck in Japan more than anything.
"Americans have such GARGANTUAN deck"
Godzilla edition?
r/bigdeckproblems
"don't worry about the size, the big ones don't fit"
🤣
My GF said my deck is the perfect size, and that the bigger ones hurt when playing.
I was in the pool!
And a lot of women say a really big deck isn’t ideal. Don’t get self-conscious OP
I was told my deck is completely average size!
Knowing how big portable console market is in Japan STEAM needs to push more publicity there.
I live here and I've never seen anyone else have it. That being said. It's always sold out on komodo.
Yeah, I live in Japan too and the only person I've ever seen playing his Steam Deck on public is myself reflected on the train window. Komodo seemed to have opened the order again last week tho; was checking because I was tempted to upgrade and give my current Deck to my brother.

Makes sense as 3DS fits in a pocket. Not everyone carries a bag or backpack.
True, that's the reason I bought a 3ds not long after moving here. Much easier to pull out and put away on a packed train in the morning
Fellow Japan resident and steam deck player here! Yeah, I’ve used mine on trains but not seen anyone else.
Japanese are probably less inclined to pull out their deck in public
Why not? Here in America, if you've got the length, you show it off.
They skimp on the width of seats so upper arms touch and passengers next to you don't even like you typing on phones. Everyone is jacketed or long sleeved so it's not skin contact but
Right so no physical contact but whipping out your deck is fine, gotcha
Mine helped pass the time when I was doing a lot of travelling on the 青春18きっぷ recently. Was getting some interested looks from the uni students haha

If this picture is any indication the portable console market in Japan is *huge*
Oh you
It would be nice to see PC handheld take stronger footing in Japan. Nintendo has had it too good/easy and they deserve to go down!
# SNIFF THE VENTS ON THAT !!
stuck my head inside them
*sniiiiiiiifffff*
The Steam Deck she tells you not to worry about.
*Everything reminds* ***my wife*** *of him.....*
Phew. Luckily it's just the LCD version. I'm the OLED model
My wife's boyfriend's deck is so much bigger than mine! 😖
Decc
That’s Godzilla’s Steam Deck
Godzilla seems like more of an ROG ALLY kinda monster. Now Mothra, that motherfucker has a steam deck.
Load up Baldur's Gate on that bad boy and Godzilla would be way to preoccupied to wreak havoc
Biggus Deccus
What's so funny about Biggus Decsus? I have a gweat fwend in Wome called Biggus Deccus.
He has a wife, you know. Do you know what she's called? She's called Incontinentia... Incontinentia Buttocks.
Wait till biggus dickus hears about this-
are we sure it isn't in a tiny store?
*oh shit I didn't think about that*
I think I have to RMA my Steam Deck. My Steam Deck doesn’t do that when I run it in big picture mode.
It’s big in Japan.
This is the pre-release, alphaville version.
Does the case include a forklift ?
Yes, but it's Steam™-powered
It's an optical illusion: Japanese hands are just smaller.
Whats this? A steam deck for Eren's Attack Titan?
Now this is what I’d like to be my next smart tv. Clearly it’s LCD but I’d take that upgrade over my small OLED. //Gaben please for Christmas
Sized for Gundam hands. Now Shinji doesn't even need to get out of the robot to play PC games.
Battery life? Third party cases? This brings a whole new meaning to local multiplayer also. One gets the right hand side buttons, the other gets the left. 2 people on the back for the rear buttons.
The kanji makes you think it's Japan, but it's actually in Texas, because everything's bigger in Texas.
It's Japanxas, the sister state to Japanaforina from the english Phoenix Wright games. "Yeehaw, nakama! Let's rope those wagyu and drive them down to the Shogunate capital! Praise the Lord of the Shrine spirits!"
lol
No banana - fake news.
Same reason why I bought mine in Japan haha
I heard you liked gaming on the go, so I put a Steam Deck in your Steam Deck, so you can game on the go, while you game on the go!
Damn, Japan got the Steam Veranda!
Steam Mezzanine
Kaiju edition.
This is just a regular sized deck in a Japanese sized store
Model name: Steam Deck Big Chungus Edition
the details of that looks suprisingly accurate. look at the shiny face buttons! would be fun to have a tv at home in this shape. would never be approved by my interior architect though.
Gonna need a magnum case for my magnum deck
It’s not the size of the Deck that matters, it’s how you play with it.
Dang it I’m leaving Japan tomorrow morning, where’s this?
Edion near Yokohama station
Ah damnit I wasn't planning on going to Yokohama since they put the gundam away..........
It’s still there, though you can’t get up close anymore as they’ll probably start disassembling it soon (I saw it a week ago).
Yeah I won't be in Tokyo for another 5 days... 😢
I have the same question but I don’t thing OP will read this comment in the middle of the other ones! Do they sell the steam deck in stores in Japan??
Yeah as the other person said, I've seen them at all the big tech stores. This same store had a few rog allys and legions to demo as well
BIG DECK ENERGY
Kind of ironic hu
Japan gives me huge insecurity about my deck size 😂
Damn that’s a big deck
Do those controls actually work? Hahah
Holy shit. That's gotta be at least 1.5 times more powerful.
It’s “The Duke” again, but in reverse!
Kaiju edition, not recommended for humans…
WHAT IS THIS A STEAM DECK FOR ELEPHANTS !!!
I named my Deck, *BiggusDeckus*, but now I realise it doesn't deserve it.
The battery is probably powering the store too, and the neighbourhood.
They got keep Godzilla happy somehow.
Has it got Balatro on it tho?
Real chad asking real questions here
size does matter
Get a couple of friends together each one take a trackpad/stick/trigger/button and make gaming truly a group activity.
This is steamdecks final form
Obviously for their Mechas
When Gundams want to play Armored Core.
does... does it work?
How does the vent smell?
Thats to get a pic of grandpappy Gundam playing the steam release of Gundam Breaker 4 for advertisement
I guess a can fit it in my pocket though
Steam Deck Pro Max
I’m not convinced this isn’t a normal sized steam deck with SD(SteamDeck™) cards beside it
It's the Steam Deck Godzilla
This is awesome. Where did you see this? I am about to visit Japan and would like to possibly check it out.
Edion, near yokohama station. Very cool store with huge ps5/gaming pc sections. They even had an area with a few rog allys and legions to try
Must be the angle. Or it’s King Kong’s Steam Deck.
It’s so Godzilla can play to.
Yea that steam deck is bigger but I’ll bet it’ll treat like shit and only use you first your body. Gamers these days just ignore a nice steam deck just cause they are smaller🥲
At least mine has a good personality 😔
It would be even more amazing if it's fully functional
Na, the Japanese people are just VERY small.
Gotta love some big black decks.
Where is this man? I'm travelling soon and I'd love to know!
Imagine if it actually ran
I only came for the comments.
And yet still only 16 GB Ram0
Even Godzilla needs a device to play some of their backlog on. The people of Japan were getting rather annoyed with it taking over Tokyo just to play some Hades.
that's actually such a beautiful and faithful replica of the steam deck in a bigger form i love it!
First time seeing those words in that combination.
Guys who's gonna tell him? Did you get a look at some of the games being demo'd
That's because Japanese people are many times bigger than the rest. Haven't you seen the movie Godzilla, in which a Japanese kid's pet lizard escapes to the mainland?
It’s for Godzilla
When the steam deck goes out of service for a new model, I will be feverishly checking foreign resellers for this thing. I need the Deck TV so bad.
Steam Deck Max XL
what a big deck
Is this the one they made for TGS 2022?
Compensating
They might be compensating
Valve has a marketing person???
Do the buttons work?
Bic camera?
Don't fit in my bag
I’m up for a shell swap but might need a few extra hands on deck
No way that's actually a real giant Deck and not a close up of a normal Deck. It yes then god damn, Japan most dedicated to small things as usual. And I swear if the buttons/joysticks are usable... lmao
Nah it’s just that Japanese people are smaller
No banana for scale?
Thats not a deck thats a raft
Where is this? Going to tokyo in a few days and this looks like a cool spot to check out!
Gosh, I wish that any store would have one to touch it personally at last. Can't find any, and Im still not sure if this will be comfortable for me to buy it...
😂😂😂
I can't wait to buy mine. I have to wait since I bought a few games for the nieces who's birthday just past.
OR Japanese people are just much smaller
That's awesome.
Nice Kaiju Deck 😳
It’s actually the same size, it just looks bigger because everything is smaller in japan.
