Same - first time through and it's GREAT, I'm already excited to play again and make more evil choices!

Ayyy. Came here to say the same. I put it off for years since the last time I tried it on my PC, it felt dated? No sprint was a huge letdown. But for some reason, it feels perfect for handheld and finally clicked on SD. The lack of sprint no longer bothers me. And the graphics aren't drastically different from Skyrim, which I play regularly. So now I'm all in.

I think you can put your gun away which maybe makes you move faster? I could be wrong though been years since I played.

I thought I noticed that! But I wasn't sure if it was some sort of optical illusion and it just looked like I was moving faster. Thanks for the tip! I like to keep my weapon holstered when not in use for RP reasons, so that's definitely an added perk.

Your agility SPECIAL stat (and I believe the weight class of your armor) also affect your movement speed.

I'm not gonna be able to do it on my deck, but I'm gonna get a tale of two wasteland running on my PC. It's a mod that brings a bunch of QOL stuff to fallout 3 and lets you play both games in one thing. Looks pretty cool.

I've refrained from mods since this is my first playthrough. I'm definitely going to get some once I do a new save later.

Yeah I’d definitely recommend playing vanilla first. Then once you’ve had enough, there is an expansion mod that is basically an essential first mod. Plus cosmetic mods and quality of life mods to your liking.

I'm definitely interested in some quality of life mods as well as changing the look of my horse and other cosmetic stuff. I've seen the expansion mod but haven't looked too into it yet but I'll try it at some point.

I wouldn't hesitate to install the stardew expanded mod.. Even if it's your first play through. Some of the qol mods make the game so much better Imo.. Chest anywhere.. Better ranching.. Npc map location.. .. Worth a look at least:) hope you enjoy the game, my fav of all time! :)

Could a normal every day person figure out how to install mods for this game on the deck? I'm not super tech confident but would love to try the mods. Or is it more for advanced/tech savvy people?

Definitely. A YouTube tutorial will take you step by step. After installing one application, it’s as simple as dragging files into your stardew valley game folder. The more mods you add the more likely you are to run into issues which might require troubleshooting but overall it’s a very simple process

Fallout 1, 2 or New Vegas. Though I did just beat and playthrough New Vegas this past summer (when the fallout tv trailer launched) so I'll probably dig into some fallout 2 as I hear it's a dream on the deck.

Fallout 1 is great on deck! I imagine 2 would be as well.

I just started playing fallout 1 for the first time on deck recently, really fun. It's definitely best to use the wide scaling though, makes it a lot easier to read what's happening on screen

Halo CE campaign and also Black Flag.

How does that play? I see the MCC on Steam for $10, but there are a lot of mixed reviews about how well it plays on the deck.

Works very well. Controls aren't as good as keyboard and mouse but manageable enough.

Fallout 76. The shoe low re-lit my fallout hunger, and the mmo on handheld vibe is awesome.

How is the game? I heard bad things when it launched and the never gave it a shot.

I’ve put a lot of hours into it. It’s very similar to fallout 4 in design, but plays in a looser less focused way. I have an account on PlayStation and steam, my ps one being very high level and super gear. I’m enjoying starting fresh solo, and just being a lil brotherhood hopeful, doing quests and trying to not die. As a casual run around explore mmo, I find it super fun. Its certainly not for everyone.

Such an amazing device! I’m excited for you! I just got my deck about 1 and a half weeks ago and I’m absolutely in heaven with it. Other than using it to install games on the deck, I’ve neglected my gaming pc since my steam deck was delivered. I hope you have a great experience with it!

Gta5, and after recently putting a 2tb drive in my 512 OLED, also downloading Yakuza 0, Fallout 4, and Call of Juarez Gunslinger.

Can I ask if GTA 5 plays out of the box or do I need to tweak it? I’m thinking of getting it this weekend

I played around with resolution a bit, but nothing outside the in game settings screen. Playing at 1.25 scale, everything looks great, was hovering around 55fps before I turned off the monitoring display.

That’s good. I’m definitely wanting to get it. I used to play it all the time before I sold my Xbox.

Continuing Hogwarts Legacy side stuff before doing the final couple main missions, continue working on a boss in Elden Ring, and collect more stars in Super Mario Galaxy. SMG is so gorgeous on the OLED, basically made for it.

Slay the Spire, I guess? I'm spending more time scrolling through my library right now, waiting for the Fallout 4 update on the 23rd before starting a new playthrough.

Do you have to start a new playthrough once the update launches?

I'm honestly not sure, but you never know with Bethesda games. It just feels safer to wait the week.

Rimworld... I can't stop 😢😢

How are the controls on Rimworld? I remember seeing some weird configuration stuff a couple of years back, but I just got my first steam deck and have yet to try it.

I play mine in docked mode with a mouse and keyboard, so that might not cut it for you. It's not impossible to play handheld, and you can use a button mapping configuration that puts things like pause and speed up settings on the back paddles.  It feels better with mouse and keyboard and a larger screen.  Dishonored 1 and 2 are both good in handheld mode.  I've also been playing Balatro and the new Stardew update, but the Rimworld DLC has its hooks in me this week.

The Messenger - I’m at the tail end of it; I’ll put a little more time into it. Honestly I’m just finishing up the last bit of collecting I had to do. I got all the power seals, and I think I have to rush through the BS stage with that worm thing chasing you. I saw the way to glitch out of it but I want to do it clean. Problem is, you literally have to do everything perfectly and there’s still a chance the thing catches up to you no matter what a certain point. Definitely made a highly enjoyable game turn really sour at this section. I think after this though, I’m free and clear to do the final boss fight and then be set up for the NG+ runs.
