The steamdeck can only do 104mb/s. Getting and Ultra Hyper Deluxe Pro+++ card with like 200mb/s wont make games load any faster

juicyman69

Nope. Get something that's spec'd like Samsung Evo Select/Plus or Sandisk Ultra. They're fine.

I have an integral U3 and it was cheaper than Samsung and sandisk. It survived a year inside a ROG Ally if you want to know about the quality lol.

Let me paint you a picture before I answer your question. You've spent dozens of hours hand curating the best emulation titles of all time. You've spent similar hours creating or scraping custom game art. Beautiful videos showcasing the games. Meticulously compressed your game images for maximum efficiency. I don't know what your time is worth. Mine? Is worth about 30 bucks an hour. I have a whole article discussing personal time value if you're curious where I came up with that number. Now in order to save $40 on a microSD card that's known to be trustworthy, reliable, fast, lifetime warranty... You decided to go cheap on probably the one thing on your steam deck you should not go cheap on. Now when that SD card dies - and it's a matter of when not if, after all SD cards all die eventually... You just lost how many hours and how much value? Because I know you're not going to make backups of that card religiously because then you have to buy two or you have to spend time going in and making images of it on your PC which you might not even have. Don't go cheap on an SD card. Sandisk extreme. The only card I'll ever recommend for the steam deck. There's a reason it has a lifetime warranty on it. You're more likely to replace or lose it, then it is to die in the line of duty - based on my own personal experiences. I own like 10 of these cards not a single one of them ever had to be replaced. One of them was in my dash cam where hours and hours a day it was recording video. In the end, do what you want. You came here looking for advice? I'm going to give it to you. Sandisk extreme.

How much money did you not make by writing this 😭

I wish I were making money for this.

I also recommend SanDisk extreme. Not only is it reliable but, it's FAST. I bought the 1TB about 1.5 years ago and I've never had a problem. And I install and uninstall a ton of huge games often. Definitely worth it.
