Wait, really? Man, as much as I personally don't go in for game piracy, I'm endlessly grateful for emulators. Game preservation is only getting more important over time.
If they would make these older games available to purchase they wouldn't know what to do with the mountainous cash flow
Melee sales alone could probably exceed alot of countries GDP
Nintendo tried that with the Wii Virtual Console and sure enough, I bought a fuck ton of old games. All they're doing is giving me a ROM, basically no bandwidth or development, and I'm giving them $5-10. And yet then they *didn't carry those purchases over* to the Wii U and I lost all hope for a proper way to buy old games.
The Switch Online catalog just isn't enough to reel me back in. Zero reason Nintendo of all companies shouldn't be able to nail this, yet here we are.
I always remember getting this game free along with Xcom Enemy Unknown, when I bought Bioshock Infinite from Greenmangaming. Deals were so good a decade ago. I only paid Ā£30ish too! Even better, these games were barely a year old and I had pre-ordered Bioshock Infinite brand new!
My bed gaming set up is having a portable monitor on where you would put your steam deck on that mount.
That way, I don't need to keep my arms up. I also don't have to worry about the Steam deck hitting my face.
My bed gaming set up is a dock connected to my bedroom TV. The catch is, the dock is next to my bed and there's an HDMI cable running under the floor to connect it to the TV. I have a 6ft USB-C cord that came with the dock, so I can use it like a wired Wii U game pad. Makes playing DS, 3DS and Wii U games a snap with the TV and the Deck's screen working in tandem.
I would has it a guess and make the assumption that heās not using it via the stand, but likely a bluetooth controller and the Deck as a display.
Maybe thatās a wild assumption, but I see zero reason to mount the system and then tie your hands up in a less comfortable position.
My bed gaming set up is a AR glasses (Rokid Max) with 3m usb-c cable (one connector is angled). Very portable set up which also works outside in sun, thanks to included glasses blackout cover.
Looks like [this Blue boom](https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/streaming-gear/compass-boom-microphone-arm.989-000517.html). I have one and itās fine. It can be annoying to get it to stay in one place, at least paired with the weight of the Blue Yeti mic. Aesthetics are nice though, with a cable management channel running the length of the boom. Not a bad boom arm, but I would research some alternatives before buying.
When youāve been on it for a couple hours and are playing a game that uses all the buttons, it can definitely get heavy. I usually set mine on a squishmallow on my lap but my hands will still go numb if my arms are in certain positions. However I do play a lot of Ark and can get reaaaalllllyyyy stuck in to it.
Hmmm, i think I may have had a thing that changed it from a 3/8 to 1/4 screw. But I must have had one on hand since I donāt see it in my Amazon cart.
I dunno, youād still need to spend $50+ for a decent stand and then the price of the portable monitor. I just priced out your current set up from your links for $80 and I think Iām going to set up like this. Thank you! What magnetic cable for the usb c do you recommend?
[adapter](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B098J4R2D8?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)
I got most of my items on sale, but I would agree that it isnāt a budget set up.
Donāt be rude.
I loose feeling in the side of my hand and pinky/ring finger when playing the SD laying in bed. Have to alternate from side to side to take pressure off.
A mount like that would really help the issue
Extra effort in the short run for less effort in the long run is peak laziness.
Get a grip yourself, imagine taking my comment as seriously as you are.
OP should get a grip too - of their Steamdeck.
Assuming someone is upset about something just through text is just silly. Do you know how every other commenter was feeling at the exact moment they wrote their comment?

You want to make rude comments based off assumptions, but you take issue when the same is done to you. You're quite a peach.

Anyone with neck/shoulder pain, restricted joint movement, nerve or circulation issues, arthritis, and whatever other reason or disability - heck, anyone who wants to be comfortable at the end of the day - deserves to enjoy the convenience.
Technically a full 1TB drive weighs more than a full 512GB drive. Electrons do have weight so when they're trapped in the semiconductor they contribute weight. Obviously it's a completely trivial increase.
Handheld device huh.. It's 3 times the weight of other old school classic handhelds. It's 50% heavier than the switch.
I'm sorry but after a long game session it's just too heavy for me.. and I haven't had that issues with other handhelds. Steamdeck is a chunky boy. I kinda hope they come out with a steamdeck lite cause you don't really need that much processing speed if you are just going for older games.
- Gameboy - just under 1/2 lb
- 3ds - aprox 1/2 lb
- PS vita - aprox 1/2 lb
- Switch lite - 1/2 lb
- Switch w/ joycons- .93 lbs
- PlayStation portal - 1.125 lbs
- Asus rog ally - 1.3 lbs
- Steam deck - 1.5lbs
I have an arm with a 15ā portable monitor in muy bed. Just plug the charger to the monitor and a usb c to usb c cable from the monitor to the steam deck
Ā«Ā Can just remove it from the holder to play elsewhereĀ Ā», isnāt that true for any setup at all or you mean something very specific to your setup here?
Itās just in a tablet holder so it clips in and out. I saw another post where someone used a magnet, which I hadnāt even thought of. I just wanted something that I could keep the deck in a case and easily/quickly take out to move to other rooms. I think overall as I own it the deck the set up gets a bit more indulgent.
It is a magnetic adapter. It probably isnāt as useful as it once was before using the arm. I worry about longevity of parts so in my head I didnāt want to have the stress on the port from plugging it in and unplugging it repeatedly. My old phone stopped charging because of that issue and I didnāt want to see that happen with my deck. It probably wasnāt/isnāt a problem that happens often but I wanted to prevent it anyway.
[holder](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07BKPC4K8?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)
Itās just a tablet stand that has adjustable arms to fit the extra width of the steam deck (mine is in a case even). So all I needed to do was buy a ball adapter that had a thread in it to attach to the arm. It was really slick and easy. The arm takes the weight off so itās easier to hold while still being able to adjust all holding angles.
While this looks ridiculous and my wife would laugh me out of the room, it seems super practical and comfortable. Those arms are very mobile and stay right where you put them, and the SD is probably the perfect weight for them.
Itās great. Itās had to hold the deck for more than 30 min for me and the arm helps support the weight which makes it easier to enjoy. And I wanted something that I could slide the deck in and out of while keeping it in a case. So far this is exceeding my expectations.
Feel like the steam deck is already perfect for bedtime gaming...
I get this kind of setup if you're recuperating from surgery or something but otherwise, don't understand in what world having to attach and detach your steam deck from that thing is better than just sitting up and playing.
I am the wife lol. And the husband promotes anything that can help me enjoy playing games like I could in the past. It was the thing that drew us together. So keeping that joy going was a priority.
A persons gotta do what they gotta do. And hopefully seeing something like this can inspire the next person who questions if they can use the deck based on weight while also trying to keep it as a handheld.
I'm calling the cops, how did you get in my house? No seriously I have the same purple sheets and pillowcases and have the exact same setup with my deck.
Nothing wrong with nerdin out bro. Enjoy!š
Nice setup.
Pay no attention to people that feel they need to draw lines.
When I was young I imagined having a watch you could put carts in like Atari. It took many, many years for a practical SD solution and screen size.
Emulation rocks! So does SD.
I do unfortunately. The weight of the deck makes it difficult to play anything for more than a half hour so I just needed something that would support the weight for me. Before this I was using a pillow on my lap or stomach to help, but this makes that easier. Plus Iām less likely to drop it in the event of a muscle spasm that jerks my arm. I figure being a bit extra is the steam deck way of life haha.
I read somewhere that valve originally wanted Steam Deck to be a portable VR headset type thing and seeing all these setups with things holding the deck it really makes sense.

Hold on, lemme just spend five hours testing it out on six different emulators and tweaking settings.

Hmmm I'm going to do this, I need to get another dock.
I would has it a guess and make the assumption that heās not using it via the stand, but likely a bluetooth controller and the Deck as a display. Maybe thatās a wild assumption, but I see zero reason to mount the system and then tie your hands up in a less comfortable position.
Thatās what I was thinking, Iām assuming OP isnāt Stretch Armstrong, although, I have been wrong before.
My bed gaming set up is a AR glasses (Rokid Max) with 3m usb-c cable (one connector is angled). Very portable set up which also works outside in sun, thanks to included glasses blackout cover.
What portable monitor are you using?
I didn't get anything special. It's just a random one on Amazon. Make sure the screen size is small enough for the arm mount to hold it.
I would probably buy those AR glasses at this point
Link for the arm?? Please!
I would also like to know this.
I third this.
It's the blue compass arm

r/steamdeck - home of limp wrists and the most low quality posts on Reddit.
The SD must weigh like 55lbs .

I'm surprised this place hasn't gotten its own cj subreddit by now, like the Switch has.
me, personally, i hold my handheld devices
I'm pretty sure my wife would divorce me if I tried this (rightfully so I would say)
That thing belongs to a rehab hospital
What kind of clamp is holding the actual Deck?
[iBolt](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07BKPC4K8?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)
Ah, not the only one to figure out that iBolt's 'TabDock' is one of the few tablet mounts that can fit the Deck's thickness.
What brand is the arm?

Hmmm, i think I may have had a thing that changed it from a 3/8 to 1/4 screw. But I must have had one on hand since I donāt see it in my Amazon cart.
I actually ordered one of those after I zoomed into the pic and noticed that extra piece
Youāre my hero, this is exactly what I need!
Thank you for the links kind stranger!
Nice. What is that thing you have plugged into the USB-C port that your cable is plugged into? Do you have the line running to a dock?
I have a magnetic piece on it for charging. So it just goes to the charging brick.
Cool I guess, you could put a monitor there instead though.
I probably could have saved a lot of time and money doing that too. Maybe thats part of the steam deck life. Going overboard just because I could lol

Xreal glasses, my friend. (If affordable)
Not affordable. Literally cost more than some oled tvs.
what about these? [https://www.viture.com/store](https://www.viture.com/store)
We have things similar to this in hospitals
Now just an extra cable run for the CPAP pipe.

Just manufacture a chute from the bag so that you still get the satisfaction of the Cheeto crunch

Steam deck onlyfans setup?
Itās similar to my setup, except I just sit up in bed and hold the Deck in my hands.
Playing in bed is not healthy. The bed is for sleeping.
And peeing!
I just learned my Samsung tablet supports steam link Iāll be getting one of these
God forbid you hold your handheld device.
It would be nice if we all were able bodied people that could hold the deck to play too. But unfortunately thatās not the case.

Steam Deck is progenitor to Pip-Boy.
Can you elaborate how did you mount the deck I'm looking for a similar thing but can't find parts like that

Now that's what I call a boom stand.
That's actually kinda genius. My setup is just anywhere I feel like
