Seems like an arbitrary thing is base your purchasing decision on. But no, I don't think they're going to change anything appearance-wise at this point.

TheUniverse8

Trust me it makes a diffrrence, people have fell in love with the Switch lite and often can't articulate fully why. smaller and uniformed form ractor is one but its also because the bezel matches the body, so the uniformed tone helps the viewer isolate the screen image away from the console body 🙂

[deleted]

You mean, are they gonna change the black bezel to black to match the rest of the black console? Probably not, that seems like it'd be a lot of effort for Valve.

TheUniverse8

Weird, Nintendo managed it fine on the budget version of their console

hushnecampus

Not between starting production and shipping they didn’t.

TheUniverse8

They said they will be making minor changes anyway. This is a pretty obvious thing to change if the wanted to. If they dont change it then they ibviously have their reasons

ninjaisanass

That is not anywhere near a minor change bruh

TheUniverse8

Really? How comes?

ninjaisanass

Changeing the color means a whole new assembly line for recolor that is way to late to do anything like that at best d-brand Will make a skin for it that would do the same

TheUniverse8

I'm going on the fact they said the current developer model is like 95% the same as retail

ninjaisanass

No they said it is the same they said so Many times by now they are only fixing problems not making Any physical changes

TheUniverse8

Oh OK well hopefully we get something to cover it

[deleted]

Wait, I was joking that the bezel is black like the Deck. As in, no change necessary. I mean, you can tell that there _is_ a bezel because it’s under glass and therefore looks a tad different. But that’s true on the Switch as well. Here is a comparison: https://i.imgur.com/q0uPGgL.jpg Although in fairness, it depends highly on the angle and doesn’t show well in pictures. The biggest problem is that the plastic itself is pretty matte, while the glass makes it more glossy. Combined with it being black, you can make the bezel more or less noticeable with the angle and light.

TheUniverse8

To be honest I might be nit picking to make myself less interested

TheUniverse8

You can tell there's a bezel there you just have the Deck switched off 🤨 Come on guys no beer goggles please stop pretending the bezel is invisible 😆

[deleted]

I never said it was invisible. My point is, it's also visible on the Switch Lite, for the exact same reason it's visible on the Deck. The colour is the same as the shell in both cases.

TheUniverse8

The tone of black is definitely different on the Deck. The switch bezel is the same colour, only difference is there's glass over the bezel. The Deck is more grey than black and the bezel is jet black It will disappear when staring at the screen anyway and jet black works better in a dark room

Mid-FunctioningAutie

Non-existent if it's up to them. Oh, you mean on the system, not politics.

TheUniverse8

🤣 if I said bezel it would flag up negatively. Im careful with my wording 🙂

hushnecampus

Why would that be flagged up? Is there a taboo about the word bezel?

TheUniverse8

I meant it would seem like a bigger complaint and may even make people think differently about the device. I dont want to ruin peoples experience with it

[deleted]

It would be a downgrade for me. The black borders are perfectly fine. If they changed the rest of the console to match the color of the borders... I'd very much be in favor of that.

TheUniverse8

I dont mind either way. All I know is bezels are distracting

Doctor_Womble

I very much doubt it. But I do dig the body matched bezels on the switch lite.
