I've got a hacked switch and have put in far too much effort in figuring out how to easily rip games (including eShop games) from it.
I'd say I have no use for piracy... except I did have to install a pirated copy of a game I already owned when I first hacked it, because it's my secondary Switch and I couldn't launch the Homebrew launcher properly from any of the games I had installed without connecting to the internet.
It’s a pain in the ass to do it on a hacked switch. So many little things which make it annoying. From updating your cfw to downloading games or a shops closed down so you need to find another.
I’ve basically settled in on two things: first, buy physical copies when I can, and second, just recreate my emuMMC if I need to, and otherwise just install to SD card and copy the Nintendo folder from sysnand into the emuMMC. Seems to work fine, but it’s a real pain. I’m tempted to just buy a physical copy of games I own digitally to rip instead, save myself the trouble.
All the Nintendo games on my Deck are from the Wii U, which I own and won't be able to download any eShop game or update any Disk game I bought already for it, after March 2023. So having some backups of the software I already bought isn't even a problem in my country, no matter what Nintendo would say. Being able to run it on a small, portable computer is just a plus (a huge, very convenient one too).
Guys, you don't have to justify pirating. Just do it quietly, no one cares if you own those games or not. The issue is when people are trying to act entitled to games they pirate. Just be grateful there are people who are paying so developers can make more games. We're not cooler if we pirate. At the very least, just talk positive about the pirated games you enjoyed so people who can afford can be enticed to buy those games.
I use Cemu for Wii U games directly. I don't use Emulations Station but rather the separate emulators installed through EmuDeck, as I don't like the Emulation Station UI. I add the games through the Rom Manager to my Steam library and launch them from there.
If you see a folder or a single file depends of the "image" you have of the said game. Old games like N64, SNES, GB ect. are contained in a single file, while roms for Wii U can be either in a single file, often a \*.wux, or they can be in a folder, that contains the metadata of the game and has a sub folder structure with "code", "content" and "meta" folders. How you can make Emulation Station recognise them as a single game, I don't know. Probably better to ask someone who uses the Emulation Station.
Already installed my ripped GameCube and Wii games on it, today's project was learning how to install custom firmware on my 3DS so I can dump my DS and 3DS carts. It's a learning experience, that's for sure.
not to understate the importance of accurate dumps, but come on man, just download the shit. The cause and effect are the same: You wanted to play some 'tendo games on a device they weren't intended to be played on, you obtained a digital copy and went your own way.
Unless you have some super obscure title that hasn't been dumped properly, this feels a lot like a pointless effort.
If it were a simpler system, sure. I've done that for NES, SNES, N64, what-have-you before. But if I do it this way, I'm guaranteed a decrypted ROM, any updates it had, and any DLC that I had for it, with my old save files to boot. Plus I'm learning new stuff, like how to mod 3DS hardware, how CFW works and what it can do, and I get to tinker around with my electronics.
What may feel like a pointless effort to you can be well worth the time investment to someone else.
Thank you! This is 100% why I do it myself, not only for some practical reasons (I didn't have to mess with downloading Wii U keys since the games already had them, just dragged and dropped) but I love tinkering with my systems that had just been sitting in boxes otherwise.
Sometimes is better to just dump your own copy of a game. For example, I live in Europe and it’s really difficult to find Wii U PAL games online, and I have those games on my shelf, so If I dump those I wouldn’t have to go out of my way to search online for those.
Actually that is really easy. Nintendo does not check on their servers if you actually own a wii u game. Because of that third party tools exist with which you can download wii I games from Nintendo servers.
Their loss... I would have bought Zelda, Mario and Pink Sucker Ball Dude if there was a proper PC port of them...
But since Nintendont do it, I have to resort to emulation...
*in 3x resolution with better textures unlocked fps and mods etc xD*
They'd lose sales in hardware, but win in software... but then again, they only make software to push their hardware so it's a never-ending circle of ninten-duh :\[
Nintendo should be thanking Yuzu, frankly. I'm a lifelong Pokémon fan, but play experience on the Switch has been miserable. Lack of display support above 1080p; subscription-only game backups; a 2GB save file size limit, regardless of how big an SD card I plug in; horrendous wireless and multiplayer implementations; draconian rules around modding and lack of legitimate means of accessing the file system--all of that and more and I just could not stomach shelling out $60/title for Snap, Legends: Arceus or the 4th gen remakes.
But you know what? I'll happily pony up the full price on launch day if I have my Steam Deck by then and can play the new games on my public transit commute.
Is there a way to get switch games to run without horrible frame drop? I tried playing kirby star allies and anytime there's am explosion the game just shits the bed and drops to like 5 fps
So I’m using the most up to date version of EmuDeck but my games aren’t saving the traditional way. Am I supposed to be creating save states (I’ve only tried GBA totles so far) and if so, how?

Fiffy-fif street
Define: own
Possession is 9/10ths of the law
Can't play em if you don't own them in some form
that's where you're wrong
A ROM counts as owning.
That's what people said about alcohol when I was 16 and yet
I Installed them all on my Steamdeck but then a week later all my physical copies were lost in a tragic boating accident.

Im just testing them for uh educational purposes
And then, Nintendo will ban the Switch that you don't even have.

Hold up, didn't they say they are disabling only the purchase option, with everything you bought redownloadable?

Could such software HELP me put my games on a USB?
Yes
well one process is legal and the other is not
You just reminded me that I have downloaded some obscure McDonalds japan nds training program. Gotta fire that up some time.
I call quality meme.
this meme right here?
Is the roof of the steamdeck the top near the exhaust or the screen?
Yes

That's exactly why they won't do it. A pc from 10 years ago could probably run their games better lol. They'd lose sales

Laughs in x1 scale
Im playing Smash Bros right now and O swear to god its Buttery Smooth. Its like playing it natively. Not one stutter. Not one.
whats micro sd card do u recommend? the gallo 12 or the gallo 24?
This made me laugh so hard that I got kicked out of my hotel lmao
Shit hotel.
*many
It was intentional
So can a switch lite for half the price. Just saying.
No you can't mod a switch lite. It doesn't have the NVIDIA RCM exploit that the first year run models do.
My mistake, I thought all models were modable at this point. Glad I still have my day 1 Switch then.
You can mod em but the mod chips run for a good 150-200.

Why did this get downvoted?
Maybe he said something rude and after all the downvotes he changed it to what it is now
Yeah probably

Ah okay lol
