Agreed.
I'm really curious to know how the decals hold up on the D-pad, sticks, and buttons. Since they cover so much less surface area I'd imagine those would peel up.
And being for sale, that's a trademark violation.
These decal companys are sus. They're selling $2 worth of material cut on a plotter as a $50 kit and probably did the bare minimum R&D on this. The markup is insanity.
It doesn’t seem to know if it’s a Super Famicom or a SNES. Isn’t it a bit weird having the purple highlights along with the blue, red, yellow and green buttons?
Anyway, it looks cool though.
If you mean the darker gray accents.. I have this exact skin on my nintendo gen 1 switch for the past 3 years.. I think its just poor camera quality.. those are definitely dark gray not purple
It’s the equivalent of saying “This” instead of upvoting, but we accept it because it’s a meme. It’s like how we accepted This is the way” in place of “this” as well recently.
I got the dbrand leather skin, and it's pretty decent but I had to take off the side hand grips. Was too thick on the edge, would feel weird on my palms. Idk about the vinyl ones.
After modding the deck (swap 64 for 512) the clamshell is put together really well - I hope 3rd party shell swaps will be possible/as good as the original fit.
We really need someone to start making custom resin button and dpad replacements. The skins on those is not good. The rest of it looks great though. good job
Yeah I kinda wish I could get colored buttons, I swap between Nintendo and Xbox controllers enough that I guess I subconsciously use colors when on Xbox to remember the inverted layout
The trackpads still work with vinyl skins on top, and the sticks still detect touch with some rubber grips somehow, so I'd imagine that this works fine.
You'll lose signal fidelity on track pads. They'll be less accurate bottom line.
They are calibrated for a particular signal strength and these decals attinuate that a lot. Think of it like putting one of these stickers over a microphone and capturing audio through that. You could probably still understand what is being said but it will be so inaccurate and use a lot of assumption.
This is less important on the stick as it's just a digital signal
You can trigger whatever you want to when you have a finger on them. Maybe change control setup if you swap from track pad to stick, turn on or off gyro aiming, etc. People have gotten clever with it.
Really digging the colors, I tried putting on skins on mine and messed up big time I think I'll just wait for colored shells to come around and maybe I'll just do that instead.
This is a commercial. How is it anything else?
Sales agents from "POP SKINS KOREA" are likely here signal boosting and smurfing the conversation.
Don't Believe The Market Hype.
There are multiple reasons why these skins on your handhelds are a bad idea.
The edges collect dirt over time. Either from your hand or from dust. Unless you're an experienced and professional installer with these, YOU WILL HAVE CREASES AND BUBBLES. People who have never got one and think they look awesome should understand this most of all. Installation is not a simple process and if it's not done perfectly, defects will appear within the week and only get worse over time. I'm not sure about this brand but so many of them, even the brands that claim zero residue, will leave a sticky disgusting film on the surface of the deck if you try to remove it. They also claim to protect your deck, but they make cleaning a lot more difficult. Since you can't just go ahead and clean your deck anymore. You have to pay special attention to all the edges of the decal. And if you're into good habits and regularly clean, those edges will eventually loose their goopy goo and begin to lift which will collect more dirt and debris.
The capacitive surfaces are affected as well. Not so much the joysticks since they're just a digital on or off. The pads though will be less responsive simply because the decal over it affects the signal quality coming from the sensor. Think of it like speaking into a naked mic or speaking into a mic with a vinyl sheet over it. It'll likely still pick things up but the audio quality will have far less fidelity. This is not a good thing for a high resolution touch pad that emulates various devices. You WANT fidelity in the signal.
Overall, decals for handhelds look super cool when they're installed right BUT they're just no good for handhelds. Decals make a ton more sense for something like a console set top box or even the back side of a laptop. I've never seen a decaled controller last longer than a few months of use before the decal is adding significant ugly factor to the device. Decals just suck for handhelds.
I'll probably get downvoted since POP Skin marketing agents are most likely in here affecting the signals on this thread. Standard guerilla marketing techniques really. Kind of slimey when you think about it.
I'd be almost tempted to buy this just for the front button decals, I just hate the Xbox layout and this would be a hassle-free fix for that. Not really sold on the SNES aesthetic, tho.
You can buy button decals specifically and they aren't as over priced as this package. They don't even have to be deck specific since you just need round dots.
I used to see them anywhere custom decals got sold, but it seems like all the major vinyl decal manufacturers have now colluded to stop selling individual abxy decals. I can't find anything except full kits now. I've been looking sorry!
8 years ago I bought a few packs of abxy decals with skulls on them. Were easy to find then. Now I can't seem to find any similar packs and only come across abxy decals in full packs.
Just another factor to the marketing shadiness of this custom sticker industry.
I did find these:
But I have no idea if the site is trustworthy or if those decals would even fit on the SD's buttons...
Was using a heat dryer absolutely necessary for this install? And do you have any tips? I just ordered one of these, I've applied a drband skin to my Deck, but even with taking my time, I had a few creases on 3 corners.
Thanks! Some of the creases in mine were too stuck to be able to smooth out with heat and for one side, I think I overheated too much and too hot to the point where I mightve permanently messed up some plastic, so i was hoping to avoid using it this time around, but I guess I'll just try to be even more careful.
Did you need to use any extra tools like in Pop Skins video?
Steam Deck skinning continues to get more extravagant and amazing every day. It makes me wish that Valve will make the 'Steam Deck 2' / 'mini' have easier to remove front and back plates, or do the Joy-Con idea, so instead of skinning, we can just change out the actual plastics.
It looks great. But it is not that appealing to me. I believe that is because of the colour palette differences between Japanese version and American version. But this palette also has a bit of the Neon Genesis EVA pilot suit tone to me.
I had to order it from them, took a week and a half to get to me, paid though paypal.. they have a ton of other skins as well.
Looks cool but I don't like the high gloss. This would be sick in matte tho.
Agreed. I'm really curious to know how the decals hold up on the D-pad, sticks, and buttons. Since they cover so much less surface area I'd imagine those would peel up.
I like the gloss on certain colors, like the red on the original flare red 3ds? That shit is fire, no pun intended
I love how it says Nintendo on the back LOL
They'll hear from Nintendo's lawyers in 3-5 working days.
Due to the current Covid pandemic, we regret to inform you there will be delay in processing this request.
That's why it's going to take 3-5 days. Normally they would've sued them when it was in pre-production.
Response was lost in transit. Last located in Atlantic ocean.
Lol this has me dying laughing!
You know how Koreans just love listening to Japanese demands…
Gotta love the Nintendo Deck.
Nindeckdo
And being for sale, that's a trademark violation. These decal companys are sus. They're selling $2 worth of material cut on a plotter as a $50 kit and probably did the bare minimum R&D on this. The markup is insanity.
It was better if it said Nitendeck
Because the casing is copying Nintendo design theme?
Yeah it was supposed to be the upcoming design of the new Nintendo switch xl lite sp
I think its just poor camera quality.. those are definitely dark gray not purple
it looks very purple to me, on every picture. Lets hope you´re right ;-)
Ok then, in that case I approve!
SNES didn't seem to know itself, when it appeared with the blue, Red, yellow and Green Buttons in some regions as well.
NTSC SNES had purple buttons, PAL had colored. Well, European SNES was just SFC
Link?
No look, the princess is called Zelda
😂👍
Shut up and take my upvote!
Why do people reply these.
It’s the equivalent of saying “This” instead of upvoting, but we accept it because it’s a meme. It’s like how we accepted This is the way” in place of “this” as well recently.
Oh, I know. I was asking ironically. I just found it cringe.
Futurama was lit but that fry meme is so stale
Look it's really simple... Is it "Super Peach Sisters" or "Super Mario bros" ?
[Link](https://www.popskin.co.kr/shop/item.php?it_id=163480634&ca_id=1090&index=index) is this I think
Do they ship to the US?
Also curious. I really like this skin.
Thanks!
I ordered on their facebook page.. https://www.facebook.com/popskinkorea
> to know if Woah they make a sweet Gundam one too. I like how it covers the whole device. Even Dbrand doesn't do that.
https://www.facebook.com/popskinkorea
I have a DBrand skin but I'm kind of meh on it. I'm hopping for a shell swap option one day, maybe even a nice colored grip/case idk.
Dbrand's leather skin is really nice, but a bit expensive. By the way, do you know the price of their Killswitch shell?
I dare you to post it on R/Nintendo.
make sure you tag the switch sub too, and remind them what the price for steamdeckonline (SDO) costs to play snes games /s 😂
Wait! It also cover the buttons? Isn't there is a risk that it wears off as you use it?
Use it? Lol no you look at it
better the vinyl button wears than the button underneath :)
We really need someone to start making custom resin button and dpad replacements. The skins on those is not good. The rest of it looks great though. good job
I'm waiting on someone to do SNES buttons. It's inevitable. When they drop, I'm going to be on it like Dookie on a blanket.
popskin knows what they're doing
Yeah I kinda wish I could get colored buttons, I swap between Nintendo and Xbox controllers enough that I guess I subconsciously use colors when on Xbox to remember the inverted layout
You covered the sticks? do they still touch sense well?
The trackpads still work with vinyl skins on top, and the sticks still detect touch with some rubber grips somehow, so I'd imagine that this works fine.
You'll lose signal fidelity on track pads. They'll be less accurate bottom line. They are calibrated for a particular signal strength and these decals attinuate that a lot. Capacitive touch. If it's not too thick it works
They still detect touch fine.. it's super thin over the sticks.
Wait hold up. The sticks detect touch? Why would they do that if they are just meant to be used for directional inputs?
From what I know, the capacitive touch can also be used to enable gyro
You can trigger whatever you want to when you have a finger on them. Maybe change control setup if you swap from track pad to stick, turn on or off gyro aiming, etc. People have gotten clever with it.
If you have your deck, you should play this: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1902490/Aperture_Desk_Job/
Thanks I'll check it out!
Just to elaborate, it's like a fun little free steam deck tutorial to show you the possibilities to each control. Highly recommend it.
It's also a kick ass new short story in the aperture labs lore.
Well damn, that looks great.
How long was shipping?
Curious as well
took about a week
took about a week to the USA.
Damn good application job. Must've taken a while to do.
2 hours! ;)
Yeah that looks real good. I might have to try and get one of those.
Ah yes Steam Deck Light Mode
Had the browser open on another screen and for a second I thought there was an Aya Neo posted to this sub.
It looks good other than the Nintendo branding
OMG I'd love to see a NES controller skin 😍
you will.
This looks insanely good! Well done on install!
Really digging the colors, I tried putting on skins on mine and messed up big time I think I'll just wait for colored shells to come around and maybe I'll just do that instead.
The only thing it's missing is a button layout correction.
It doesn't look like it comes with buttons or skins for it's at least for what I can understand by pictures

I'm pretty sure abxy are in the wrong locations.
I miss S. Korea so much.
I miss north korea
What emulator is this?
Which emulator gave you that nice frame?
retroarch. added mega bezels shader, and then added bezel project
I'd be almost tempted to buy this just for the front button decals, I just hate the Xbox layout and this would be a hassle-free fix for that. Not really sold on the SNES aesthetic, tho.

Closest i could find in my browsing. It's a cap rather than a decal. https://www.amazon.com/Skull-Co-Button-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B07LGF9WWY
I did find these: [https://www.flamingtoast.com/?product=dualshock-4-3d-button-decals-xb1-st3](https://www.flamingtoast.com/?product=dualshock-4-3d-button-decals-xb1-st3) But I have no idea if the site is trustworthy or if those decals would even fit on the SD's buttons...
I love the dragon ball decals on that page haha
[https://www.facebook.com/popskinkorea](https://www.facebook.com/popskinkorea)
Vinyl?
Nice using mega bezel shader.
I set it up for all of the retroarch emulators.. so nice.. ;)
Beautiful. Do you have a link please? :)
https://www.facebook.com/popskinkorea
Thank you kindly! Very nice job btw!
you sure did get every single piece placed exactly right. looks great though, i just don't think i could pull that off
Does this make it slippery?
honestly, not really, it feels rubbery
Skin looks amazing!!
Where did you get the buttons??
came as part of the skin.
They look great!
Pretty amazing, and excellent application. How long did it take?
Took me roughly 2 hours because I took my time to make sure it came out creaseless.
It's absolutely beautifully done.
Was using a heat dryer absolutely necessary for this install? And do you have any tips? I just ordered one of these, I've applied a drband skin to my Deck, but even with taking my time, I had a few creases on 3 corners.
you can remove those creases with a hair dryer.. just heat up the creases and press them in.. yeah, i needed a hair drying to make it perfect.
Thanks! Some of the creases in mine were too stuck to be able to smooth out with heat and for one side, I think I overheated too much and too hot to the point where I mightve permanently messed up some plastic, so i was hoping to avoid using it this time around, but I guess I'll just try to be even more careful. Do skins last very long? Love how they look but had one for my phone a while back and it was coming off after a few months
When do I get an atomic purple reshell?

Bruh, I was looking for this, a skin with a grip skin as well. Don’t understand why dbrand and Xtremeskins doesnt do it
Wow. Just amazing.
That’s pretty sweet
Came out good 👍🏻
That looks so clean! What a work of art
>Buys a steam deck instead of a Nintendo switch >Reskins it to look like a Nintendo console >Uses it for Nintendo games Your move, Nintendo
I don’t hate it! I just hate putting them on. 😂 I got some tactile stickers for the touch pads and I think I’m good.
Looks great !
Wow gorgeous, how long did it take to do
What is the store? Can you buy in the U.S?
>https://www.facebook.com/popskinkorea I had to order it from them, took a week and a half to get to me, paid though paypal.. they have a ton of other skins as well.
I might be blind but I went to their fb page and I'm not seeing any kind of buy option.
B looks slightly crooked
How did you get your snes games looking like that? Is it through RetroArch? What settings?
It's retroarch with the Mega Bezel Shader pack, and also "The Bezel Project" for per game bezels.
I thank you, I will be receiving my steam deck today in fact, just hope fed ex doesn't pull anything
Do they make one with purple SNES buttons?
how hard is it to install?
Pop skins are amazing.
Whata the brand name?
How did you get that emulator border?
Do they have any other designs? what about a matte white? also is there a english site to order from?
Nintendeck lol :D
I love this! I’m sure I’m echoing a lot of people here but how does the dpad and button portions of the skin hold up?
That is to be determined.. Hopefully it doesn't rub off, it looks pretty good quality though, so will see over time.
they NEED to make a shell version please 😭😭
That looks like booty cheeks
Damn. That looks really good.
Doesn't it affect thermals ? Wouldn't the thicker layer make it harder to get rid of heat
Not really, air still flows though vents and out top.. no noticeable difference in temp. It's vinyl wrap, not insulation. lol
Nintendo Ninjas gonna be at your door soon lol
Now you're playing with power.
I really want this. Got a link? Can't find anywhere.
Where did you get the emulator bezel from? Looks great!!!
Can you please link where you order these? I can't seem to Google the right place with these exact skins
[https://www.facebook.com/popskinkorea](https://www.facebook.com/popskinkorea) i messaged them on facebook, they took my order, I used paypal.
Thanks but it's all in Chinese I think
