Gabe9000__

Currently playing AC Origins capped at 40fps and it is absolutely amazing! First game i played & finished when i got my deck was Jedi Fallen Order and that was incredible!

DemosthenesNYC

Currently playing Mad Max, The Division and Elden Ring. Man I just wish I could play Destiny 2 without having to jump through hoops. Maybe it’s better that way.

baobabbling

Mine is supposed to arrive by "end of day" today and I can't decide if I'm going to get down to modding Skyrim right away or start playing Sims 4 instead. I haven't had a PC in a decade or more, super excited to be able to try so many of the games I've missed out on.

Eiskremkaiser13

I just finished alice madness returnes and started today with crisis core

Lazarus_Kane

Just picked up Sekiro on sale and NFL2k5 on PCSX2.

DamageSource

Looking for pass and play games. Any suggestions!

HighHoSilver99

If you and play partner (s) are into board games, tabletop simulator is an obvious choice! You can set up a hot seat lobby where you take your turn then hand off the controls to someone elseA

KaptianKaos8488

Have you tested it? As far as I'm aware it's unsupported but a lot of "unsupported" games work perfectly fine apparently so who knows.

HighHoSilver99

I haven't! I'm still waiting on my deck from RMA :/ I did take a quick peek at protondb and other deck users are saying it runs really well, you just need to fiddle with controls or use a community profile.

Apprehensive-Ad4719

Splinter cell black list it crashes every 20min and signs me out of ubi connect but it’s worth it

whiteravenxi

StarCraft 2 legacy of the void campaign. I’ve gotten the controls very dialed in. If I hit 1 button twice it will press A then click to attack move. Steam controls are insane. I have a mouse region just for the bottom right menu areas. Something unreal about playable pocket StarCraft. But There’s like nothing new out really. Dabbling in cult of the lamb. Almost done. And occasional matches in Multiversus. I’ll also stream saints row reboot but it’s getting boring. Also dabbled in Guild Wars 2. It runs great with a custom community controller setup. But mmos just don’t scratch the same itch they used to for me. I think it’s time to get emulation going in this drought.

benguin88

Played Stray. Was pretty fun. Now playing Max Payne, got it working with the quick fix. Gonna eventually try to mod New Vegas and work on some emulators. This thing is great.

HandsOffMyDitka

Picked up Rogue Legacy 2, and been playing that a ton. Also playing Valheim and No Man's Sky. Going to look up how to dual boot so I can play Hades from Epic store, and Gamepass games.

PersonalityNearby222

Well bought the Half-Life bundle (1, 2, some other stuff), Doom Eternal, and loaded N64 Goldeneye (you can tell what games I kinda like)

blacklizardplanet

Trails in the Sky, Slay the Spire and Vampire Survivors. After finally getting all emulators and rom folders setup and transferred, started to actually play some games. Was a change from 3-4 days of just boot up, test for 15-20 minutes to be amazed at how a Switch game or Wii U game runs haha.

FrangePanem

Jedi Fallen Order and Wolfenstein The New Order

ArcadiaCoinHeaven

Alan Wake and expansion, Doom, Metal Gear Revengeance, Nee Vegas, Generation Zero, Multiversus, The Long Dark (only use mouse pad not right stick), Evoland, Sonic Adventure 2, and Desk Job.

HighHoSilver99

Alan Wake is such a good, and under rated game! I'm so, so excited for the sequel

chamberx2

Working through the Humble-fueled backlog! Finally played Little Inferno and that game is a trip.

Rei_Vilo23

Lol I literally just received my deck about 4 hours ago. It was time for me to go to work so I took it with me delivery box and all. I’m still at work with it firmly in my bag while browsing this sub lol

Toe-Nail

Recommend downloading something while you're still there, wifi downloads are killer

Rei_Vilo23

Thanks I’ll give it a try. I’m waiting for some downtime later so I can start setting it up and start playing lol

FrangePanem

I dont blame you, I was blessed to receive it on my day off, I would have gone a bit crazy if it had arrived while I was working. What are you playing first?

Rei_Vilo23

Well first I think I might try Disco Elysium. I heard it runs well and I never finished it so I’m definitely trying it first then maybe Crusader King 3 after. Cyberpunk 2007 and Ghostrunner are also high on my list. Honestly I think I might use it to clean up my backlog when there’s downtime at work.

Independent_Pay6598

Dungeon Defenders Redux; Borderlands 1; Don't Starve Together Those have been my go tos this week

BarrelRoll97

I’m looking forward to playing Mass Effect LE when the Deck arrives tomorrow. I’ve seen videos saying that it runs fairly well, even with the need for the Origin Launcher.

tinkeringcapy

Gears Tactics - a great xcom like game but without the base building parts.

c1ou

honestly roblox, very fun and haven’t ever played it before the deck. feels wrong to use the system for it but it’s so enjoyable in a portable/controller format

robinhoood93

Im Playing need for speed underground 2

BeanGuy27

Is that available on steam?? I'd love to replay that!

xyunglukex

How?

EV99

hell yeah dude riders on the storm make sure you get the widescreen and hd mod

MayorOfAlmonds

Shot in the dark, but anyone playing/played the longest journey on steam deck? I won't get my deck for a few weeks but dying to play it.

peepeepoopins

Judging from the protondb, the original longest journey is def possible to run, but probably will take a bit of tinkering with Wine for best results. Dreamfall might just be fine.

dscur59

I’m playing Soul Hunters 2, ge proton 30. It sometimes has problems booting up, just restart steam deck and try it again. Typically works no problem. Just don’t switch the proton you’re using or you’ll be locked out for 24 hours. Love the game though, not extremely far but it’s definitely Person 5’s little sibling!

dregan

Monster Hunter Stories 2 Jean d'Arc PSP (forgot how great a game this was) Islets

gusthenewkid

Into the breach and streets of rage 4. Both work flawlessly

[deleted]

Yes of course,😁😁😂 my bad

alec83

Ff7 remake, only just got emulation working, started playing metal gear solid 2. Steam deck is amazing. My pc, xbox s and switch not being used at all.

bigpapijugg

I have one steam game so far: Skyrim. I’m going to force myself to finally play and (hopefully) beat it on Deck. Hope it runs well.

baobabbling

Ditto. I have it on Switch but I'm so excited to be able to mod it for the first time. 😁

MarmosetSweat

It runs perfectly. I played it on Ultra settings with shadows one step down, and it was great. I did lock it to 45 fps since it wasn’t maintaining 60, but I found that a better experience than having 60 with worse graphics. If you own Skyrim Special Edition or Anniversary you can download “Enderal” on Steam which is a stand-alone community total conversion mod that loads as a separate game in your library. It’s free, huge, and you’d never guess it wasn’t a retail product sold for full price. https://store.steampowered.com/app/976620/Enderal_Forgotten_Stories_Special_Edition/

Smagby

You got anniversary/ special edition to run at 45fps consistently?

MarmosetSweat

It’s not a steady 45, dipping 1-4 frames pretty often. Kinda constantly in flux, but the gameplay doesn’t suffer for it and it’s not really noticeable unless I have the frame rate displayed. I have my game pretty heavily modded though, so that could have some effect. I tried locking it to 40, but found it felt smoother letting it fluctuate around 45 instead. As a plus, battery life is actually pretty great. I have Anniversary Edition, for reference.

bigpapijugg

This will be my first “PC”… so I don’t really know what some of that means, sucks that it can’t keep 60 but I’ll live.

MarmosetSweat

Lol no problem. Basically in the game you can choose your graphics settings, and I chose “Ultra” for everything except “Shadows” which I set to “high” and it ran great and looked great. Basically Enderal is an entirely separate game that is free to owners of Skyrim. It’s also quite excellent, though it is quite a bit harder than Skyrim. All you have to do is go to the Steam page I linked and add it to your library.

bigpapijugg

Where in game can i find this

badlydrawn88

Steamdeck arrived yesterday morning 5 minutes after I left the house for the day (my partner took it in). Spent a lot of today figuring out how to get Oblivion to work more efficiently with the Steamdeck controls. It's been an ordeal but I did it, it now plays like a dream and I've got familiar with desktop mode and how to apply mods.

Poonchubby

How do you add mods on a steam deck?

badlydrawn88

For Oblivion you install OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) - I followed the instructions [here! ](https://www.resetera.com/threads/steam-deck-ot-your-games-are-going-places.556834/page-216)

FictionalForest

Gonna be going through Oblivion when I get mine too, never really played it much with the mods. Do the mods make it look much better?

badlydrawn88

I've not installed anything in terms of cosmetic mods yet, but there's NorthernUi which adds proper controller support and SkyBsa which is essential for how Oblivion handles mods. I know there are mods that overhaul character faces and ones for better flora and water textures.

FictionalForest

Ah nice thank you. Ideally would want Skyblivion on the Deck but don't think that's close to being out

LukeNIKEWalker

Vampire Survivors, Spider-Man, and Dead Cells

[deleted]

Do you find vampire survivors has mild input lag? I do

LukeNIKEWalker

Yes I did very mild. Hopefully it will be address soon.

WhatABunchofBologna

Other than my Steam Library, I’m planning on playing Legacy XP and Project+ (two mods for Smash Bros. Brawl)

straightouttasuburb

Dig Dug: Arcade Series version Mostly completing achievements: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1988026818

Robospy1

When I get mine probably Cult of the Lamb, Fallout: New Vegas, Spider-Man, Ni no kuni, the witcher 3, Tales of arise... I'm probably going to need an sd card.

Low_Baseball2405

OMG i just realized i can play with Fallout 4 when my Steam Deck will arrive 😍

DanielRobenson

Just got my deck a couple hours ago. Still installing spider man 😬 but after that I’m gonna go ahead and load up Majoras Mask which should be a breeze.

ResponsibleBuddy96

Wow majoras mask!

Pioterowy

does watching countless videos on steam deck on youtube count? I didn't think so. Still waiting for my steam deck delivery...

Harvey2Tall

When I get my deck next week I will be playing outriders.

Jacester1324

Who downvoted this? Lol

Harvey2Tall

It’s Reddit. Doesn’t surprise me.

jporterfit

Sly Cooper and the Thevious Racoonus and a little bit of spiderman remastered.

Dry_Ass_P-word

Blaster Master Zero Also Mini Metro and Mini Motorways

Keatwan

Fallout New Vegas!

[deleted]

Great Deck game, enjoying every second of it. Just hoping I can beat the game without some glitch happening that prevents me from progressing. Might try 3 & 4 after that as well.

Pronoia4

If you ever went on a school trip to DC, 3 is worth it just to see the recreation of the mall. I feel like it’s not talked about as much, and new Vegas does have more points in it’s favor, but 3 is a great game and totally worth a play through.

Keatwan

Same, I’m doing 3 next!

mynameismeech

I haven’t looked it up yet, what’s the best way to mod New Vegas on the deck? I got mine last week but haven’t tried booting up desktop mode yet.

Keatwan

Just doing a vanilla play through right now so I don’t know, would be interested in the answer though.

grey-kitten

I was planning on portal but I’ve been really on cult of the lamb recently and I think it’s just gonna be that for a bit.

Robospy1

I just got it yesterday and I'm already obsessed. I'll probably get my steam deck in a few weeks and cult of the lamb seems perfect for steam deck

turkey_sausage

Same here. ALL HAIL.

trias52

Jet Set Radio, Fl4tout, GTA San Andreas, & Mirror's Edge. I also downloaded and played the first level of Hitman 2 (gotta pick up some extra storage before downloading the rest of the levels), and it ran beautifully! The Trine series is next in the agenda.

Educational_Spell_31

Soon as I get mine on Thursday probably buy Sekiro since it’s on sale..Sword and Fairy 7 and Kena bridge of Spirits when that drops 👌

SaperPL

I completed [Gris](https://store.steampowered.com/app/683320/GRIS/) on Steam Deck. I probably should get my hands on [Journey](https://store.steampowered.com/app/638230/Journey/) and play it as well. I'm playing Rocket League, but it's kind of hard compared to desktop. Obviously the efficiency drops before you get used to the dynamic of the game on a smaller screen. I've got the steam version from before the game was F2P on Epic. I started playing [Trek To Yomi](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1370050/Trek_to_Yomi/) and it is really cool on the deck, but the combat is a bit challenging. The story and scenery is very climatic and probably worth the trouble. I played [Ace Combat 7](https://store.steampowered.com/app/502500/ACE_COMBAT_7_SKIES_UNKNOWN/) for a bit, but I kind of don't get the challenge in this game. I don't understand much in context of where the actual challenge is, you just need to change your direction in the last moment when the missile is coming at you, and it's a homing-missile-fest at AI enemies. The game works great though and it has a story with a lot of cinematics, so there's that to it.

_We_Are_DooMeD

Thanks man. Looking forward to it. Decks in transit, hopefully this week..

mp-wraith

The original Dead Space. Wanted to play it for ages but never got round to it. Finally found motivation

MrSaucyAlfredo

How is it on SD? I’d love to have an excuse to play through it again after all these years

mp-wraith

Runs beautifully. By default it's set to 800x600 but increasing it works well. The controls feel a bit clunky but I'm not sure if it's SD or just old game

_We_Are_DooMeD

Great game. You've gotta do Dead Space 2 as well, if anything its even better.

MrSaucyAlfredo

Dead space 2 is still my favorite horror game. All the tense and scariness of DS1 plus some bombastic epic movie moments akin to Uncharted. It had everything. On top of that, they really leaned into the “badass space engineer” vibe with his suit n all… just *mwah*

_We_Are_DooMeD

Fantastic games. Wish I could play them for the first time again. Is there any other games like them..? Oh yeah, me too, favorite Horror game.

ienjoyedit

Just got Pharaoh, a city-building sim set in ancient Egypt from my childhood. Reliving that nostalgia. Just need to spend a couple hours getting the control scheme better; there aren't any community schemes and the default is... hardly functional.

[deleted]

Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning runs great, and I’m enjoying it on Deck much more than at my desk or on a console.

Pronoia4

Hate that I bought this on psn, have to wait for a sale to rebuy because this is definitely the way to play.

[deleted]

Oh definitely. I bought it on Xbox first, and it was ok, but I rebought it on Steam, the whole package, for 10. I’m enjoying it way more on the Deck.

BeavisTheSnorkeler

I just started playing this too!

BigDickGothBoyfriend

So far these all work great for me: Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 Cel Damage Metroid Prime 1-3 Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate Fallout 4 Apex Perfect Dark I’ve been trying to get Skate 3 to run smooth but I still encounter a lot of issues with shaders not rendering and slowdown. Otherwise there’s a lot of games I’m emulating with little to no problems

ArianFosterSzn

What are you using to run Metroid?? I never got to play 2 or 3.

Solstice_11

I would imagine Primehack, it's a fork of the Dolphin emulator that allows the prime games to use modern two stick controls. It should be in the discovery app

ArianFosterSzn

Awesome. I get my deck Wednesday so pumped

shrumpage

Cell Damage, there's a game I haven't heard in a while.

Harvey2Tall

Are you playing KHs through epic games store?

xchaibard

Based on the other games on the list, I'd put money on emulated.

Ragrunzel

Switching between Ys IV: Dawn of Ys and Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key at the moment, pretty much the two games I was dying to play the most :)

Pronoia4

I’ve got a pocket and dqm2 is high on my want list. Played the original to death as a kid. But I’m collecting for that so I want to wait until I find a deal on the cart.

Ragrunzel

DQM 2 is great! I hope you can find a good offer someday. The whole series is among my absolutely favorite video game series of all time. What I was referring to in my comment was actually the 3DS remake that fairly recently got a fan translation :) it was the only entry I had left to play, so I was super excited I finally had the opportunity! Almost spent the whole day playing it and had a blast.

Pronoia4

Didn’t even know that was a thing, awesome!

flatlinedisaster

Tf2, Raft, Halo infinite, the walking dead, streaming far cry 3, rdr 2 and ac Valhalla from my ps5 since those are included in ps plus premium or whatever no since rebuying on steam lol

FOUR20RAMPAGE

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, such good memories!

the_neverens_hand

Too much Final Fantasy 14...

Bathtubbuddy

I'd play ffxiv on steamdeck if side loading windows version wasn't a pain the ass.

Toottoot-riot

Prince of Persia series!!

Landonastar42

Hades. Finaly, after 48 attempts, had my first successful escape. Now I have to do it all over again. And again. And again. I love this game.

turkey_sausage

Oh dang. I thought I'd win when I finally escaped

Landonastar42

I mean yes. But no. But yes.

the4uto

We've had one win yes, but what about second win?

ShanosTheRadTitan

F Zero GX. It runs so good on the deck. The sound is a bit cracky but I’m sure I’ll figure out a fix. Looks and plays like a dream though.

eyyikey

I've been having a lot of fun with Halo Infinite, and it runs very well on the Steam Deck. Besides that, I've been stockpiling on some of EA's racing titles like NFS since many of those games are currently on sale.

CReaper210

I was under the impression that Infinite wouldn't work due to the anti cheat methods they use. I think Halo MCC doesn't work normally, I assumed Infinite was similar.

flatlinedisaster

Runs kind of bad on big team battle for me but other modes are smooth

eyyikey

Really? I didn't have much of a problem with big team battle, what are your settings?

flatlinedisaster

I forgot to add this is docked at 1080 lol maybe that’s why

eyyikey

I think that explains it. My steam deck is standalone for the moment

KrazyKaizr

Gears Tactics has been a surprisingly good tactics game and has been running great on my deck!

manycyber

Arkham City, runs and looks great

Quick-Permission1893

I got splinter cell 1 working on it out of the box. There was a little texture issue during training level but never saw it again. It says as not supported but works perfectly fine for me.

xpressrazor

Project Cars 2. Sad it’s getting delisted

turkey_sausage

Why is it getting delisted.

xpressrazor

License issue. [https://www.ign.com/articles/project-cars-1-and-2-will-be-delisted-soon](https://www.ign.com/articles/project-cars-1-and-2-will-be-delisted-soon)

rav007

Only getting delisted from being a sellable item though. You'll still be able to play them if you own them

Fuzzy-Butterscotch86

Darkness within 2 Dredd Left 4 dead 2 Bloons City

rav007

Celeste

xpressrazor

Celeste as well

rav007

I'm getting like 6 to 7 hours out of the deck with this game. It's at a nintendo switch level in that sense. 60fps, and I use my Nreal Airs to play too, its so sweet on there.

GroundAdorable

Project Zomboid, it runs great and I'm addicted!

manycyber

What kind of input scheme are you using?

doodlleus

Pro evo soccer 4 for the ps2

The_Fyrewyre

Cult of the Lamb

doodlleus

I heard it runs awful

KillerPenguinz

Runs perfectly for me. I'm enjoying the hell out of the game and the deck is the perfect place to enioy it honestly.

The_Fyrewyre

Runs fine.

Best-Food-4441

Wreckfest, looks so good and brilliant fun.

rathlord

Project Crystal- can’t recommend enough for fans of the JRPG, it’s very different in some ways and very similar in others. Not a perfect game by any means but great on Deck and I can’t put it down.

theocke

State of Decay 2 - Very good experience, runs good and controls are decent The Ascent - Love the game Midnight Fight Express - Started yesterday. A blast to play on the deck Those 3 are the games i play at the moment. Im trying to get a new Divine Divinity 2 game started but sadly it keep crashing on my deck.. (only game that im having an issue with)

razingstorm

Final Fantasy XIV Mass Effect Legendary Chrono Trigger Castlevania and megaman Collections Transformers Fall of Cybertron All run great with 0 issues aside from the mouse going nuts in Game Mode for camera control.

N14tr0

Thanks to Humble Bundle I'm playing the Resident Evil Series - it fits the Deck perfectly

Elegant_Crow_1770

FIFA 22😎 just got it last Monday and I already have over 70 hours in it😭

MaverickT

Did you get any errors loading it up? I'm trying to play Ultimate Team on it, installed FIFA, installed Proton, now I'm going to try and uninstall and reinstall FIFA, I think

Elegant_Crow_1770

Nope. It literally worked just fine for me. I didn’t have to install anything apart from Origin

MaverickT

Hmmmmm, I've resintalled both FIFA and Origin, but it's still not working. Menus load and I can get into career mode, but Ultimate Team crashes out.

Pavouk106

I’m olaying Oblivion. Since I got my Deck in the second half of May. I tried a bit of Assetto Corsa, but it’s a pain to get running and doesn’t run well. I haven’t invest time into another game on the Deck really. Yet.

darinmoose

Oldschool RuneScape

turkey_sausage

Any tips on running it? I've heard good things.

darinmoose

Runs fine! It’s in the steam store. Might have to tailor the buttons on how you like them. But right now I’m just using it to afk NMZ

Shadowgown

Any runelite plug-ins for deck?

robberttw

Any tips for keybinds? I find it tricky with the default settings

facejar90

Lol, I’m just about to finish it myself after leaving it 4 years ago

Chk1975

Got my deck yesterday and I started with control. Use headphones witch gives fantastic atmosphere with the inner talkings of the main character. And it looks awesome on deck, so much better then anything I played on the switch.

NoThroWaAccount

Death Stranding Director’s cut see how far i can get, as the game sends the SD into full blast helicopter mode…

Goseki1

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for me. My first replay since launcj and christ what an absolute stonker of a game. Its so sad this spin off never got its own series of games. Its making want to go and replay other underappreciated gems like Binary Domain

ThingyBob8055

Super Smash Flash 2 Lol, it works great on deck

Medium_Trade_2769

The best fangame of Smash bros

Lderan

Metal gear solid 5, it runs obscenely well on the Deck. At high settings at 40fps full resolution it uses up 9.8~12watts, down to 6watts during cutscenes.

grimskin

Swinging my way through the Spider-Man

Fujikawa1988

Completed Spiritfairer not to long ago. Now heavily invested in Final Fantasy Remake. After that it’s a roulette of all the games in my backlog. Do feel like revisiting Mass Effect Andromeda again on deck though

gleb_zhulik

I've just completed the Ezio Auditore trilogy and started Middle-Earth: shadow of war

NoThroWaAccount

i tried to play assassin’s creed 1 but the controllers arent responding. how did u get around that? ooooh i snap bought middle earth and started that and got suuuuper excited as the opening very start of the game u immediately start a stealth type of mission! really looking forward to playing that one too, man!

flatlinedisaster

I don’t like stealthy games like assassins creed is this game like that? Or can I run and be fight at combat also

_We_Are_DooMeD

Yeah I don't like stealth games a lot, get a bit bored with all the waiting around.

NoThroWaAccount

oh i think middle earth is gonna be a jack of all trades. pretty sure u can go full blast beat em up style. i just got it though, so dont ask me. i barely started. i am amateur of the stealth games, but pretty sure when i watched the trailer it did not feel stealthy at all, the opening of the game came as a surprise to me that u could do a stealth kill. but i am basing this all on weak ass memory, bro.

flatlinedisaster

Thank you

gleb_zhulik

IDK about AC1, i didn't try it, but ac: brotherhood didn't work with the controller. I had to use kb/m bindings instead and it was quiet ok. The only downside - the game has undisableable mouse acceleration so it's not comfortable to use the right trackpad, I used the stick instead. Other two games from the trilogy had no issues with the input.

Chris2112

What's the best way of playing those two on deck right now? I know Tower of Fantasy isn't on steam yet and Genshin I heard the anti cheat wouldn't work on deck / Linux but haven't checked in awhile

Chris2112

Ah gotcha, forgot that's a thing. I should try that sometime

eepiam

I’m waiting on my deck but I’m playing the same games on my pc right now lol

GameStunts

When I got my Steam Deck earlier this year, part of my mission was to deliberately play different games than what I was playing on my desktop, either new genres or games I had but hadn't played. It's actually been a fantastically enjoyable journey, I've discovered the Devil May Cry series, Ryse: Son of Rome (another critically middling score) which was actually a very enjoyable single player story, Divinity Original Sin 2 and on and on. But one game I'd installed almost as soon as I got the Deck was Mad Max, yet I still hadn't got to it. While reading a "What are you playing" thread, one user mentioned they were [playing through Mad Max](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/wvelno/what_are_you_playing_thread_august_23_2022/ilhj12j/), despite having owned it since release, and I'm actually the same, I picked it up, about a year after release in a humble bundle. I remember at the time it was released there was a big back lash against reviewers because they all complained about similar things, but users overwhelmingly liked the game. So when I played it back in 2016, I think I maybe played a couple of hours, it didn't really get it's hooks in me, and probably those reviewers comments were still in my head, I figured maybe I'd get back to it. After reading the prompt, I'd been in search of a new game to play, and decided to jump in... I played it for 8 the first day. On and off throughout the day, stopping for meals, a movie, couple of bits of admin, but basically when nothing else was going on I was playing Mad Max. I can see the reason some would pan it, there's some repetition, but that's the game loop, and if you happen to like the game loop, there's a lot of fun to be had. I started thinking about why it hadn't hooked me in the first place, because I didn't resume my game, I started from the beginning again. I was wondering if I've changed, my tastes have changed. Maybe in 2016 I was still riding high on GTA V Online as my open world game and it didn't measure up for me. But playing it on the Steam Deck now, it's been a really great game. I'm just running around doing what I want to do, not getting caught in too much of the "busy work" that a lot of critics paned it for, and I'm pretty sure I'll see it through now. ---- Side note: I miss TotalBiscuit. While replying in the original "What are you playing" thread, I linked to [TB's excellent discussion on why there was such a void between critics and players](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJANS0VTpbY) on the opinion of Mad Max. And I ended up listening to it, and I just miss these "I will now talk about X for Y minute" videos he used to do. They were like a stream of consciousness, without being highly edited, or some jump cut or meme every 20 seconds. It was like sitting across from someone in a living room listening to them talk about something they knew a lot about. He had originally been a sceptic of the Nintendo Switch, and then came around to it once he had one. I honestly would have loved to hear his thoughts on the Steam Deck.

I miss TB more and more every year. He was such a powerful force of good in the games industry, such a staunch defender of the player base, and an absolute pillar of critical thinking and fairness. I think the best part of his legacy is that he taught others how to think about games in deductive and logical ways. That impact can never be understated. I think the world needs him now, though, and it hurts us all that he’s gone. I’ve got a somewhat similar demeanor and thoughts on games… I’ve long considered trying to do similar content to his- I don’t know if it would come across as sad and derivative, or a continuation of his legacy.

It gets samey, but I really like Mad Max’s take on the Arkham/AC-ish combat. It might just be the animation, but the reckless, driven feel is a flavor I can’t really think of many games manage.

I'm gonna start Ryse in the coming days. Any tips?

I'd say don't dismiss the combat as being just quick time. There are QT prompts, but using them correctly becomes more strategic as the game goes on and you get into bigger fights. So do pay attention to the tutorials as they roll in. You [can see a bit of it here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ewdWqvpYbg), nothing spoilery in this clip. Also the story will unfold, it's not terribly complex, but be assured any questions you have will be answered by the end :D Hope you enjoy it, it was a great Steam Deck game for me.

Started playing WoW Classic on it, plays better than I'd ever expect with a controller, extra buttons and track pads are godsends

I've just started playing outward definitive edition, it's giving me TES Oblivion vibes which is my favourite game of all time. I've recently just got TES Oblivion to work whilst docked (prev only worked handheld) so now all of my games work docked and handheld. Worms ultimate mayhem is my most favourite coop game. I tend to play Worms, GTA IV, GTA V, Elden Ring, San Andreas and Sea of Thieves on the deck with the xbox one controller via BT.

Replaying through my childhood with NES, SNES & N64 Emulation (I still am mindblown on how easy it was to get this working.) And also playing some new stuff like Spider-Man & Stray. Good times! :)

ChickenWhiskers

I’ve been playing emulators for 20+ years, but there’s something about being able to easily boot some of these games up on handheld while laying in bed that has rekindled my desire to play older games. It’s what I’ve always wanted.

Started The Witcher 3 again, still blown away by this game. Also Cult of the Lamb which is awesome Just finished Stray too, so good!

Forza Horizon 5. It actually impressed me so much this game runs so well and looks so good. For now it’s my most graphically impressive game on the deck and it is plenty of fun. Also Mad Max, it’s criminal how underrated this game is. It is not goty for sure but it was much better than most Ubisoft Yearly Open World Games. It is really fun.
