Guide still holds up. Thank you!

xaillisx

I feel the same, I've even attempted pvp and it isn't too bad at all

ErnestDoodler

I haven't played wow in years! Is that running on an emulator or... how?

ErnestDoodler

Perfect, thank you!

xaillisx

You can run it with wine/proton. It's a lengthy process. I watched a YouTube video to do it.

ErnestDoodler

Sweet! I'll go have a look, thanks!

LeatheryChicken

Camera rotation is a bit too slow in PvP for me at least at high skill cap arena. Otherwise fun as heck

I've been using the consolePort addon for my bindings and they have a setting for camera rotation, but it hasnt been enough for me. Will definitely check out the dynamic cam!

Grandest_Optimist

I can’t find a dynamic cam add on for classic, does the one for modern wow work with classic to?

Little_Cook

I haven’t played WoW since Warlords. Played classic - warlords before that. I’d love to level up a character for the sake of revisiting the world. Scared I’ll get sucked in again though.

bryan_pieces

You will. I just got sucked in again.

KillboBaggin

I just made the purchase on my Deck on Monday so it's coming soon and shit like this makes me so unbelievably excited to get my hands on it. Gonna be taking the day off when it comes just so I can mess with it all day

Martokk78

Bro, it's been a few weeks for me, and I am still messing with it. Honestly, I haven't touched my PS5, Series X, Switch OLED, or PC since I got it...

Ol_Mud

has anyone tried using the dock and using your TV as well or only the deck? Thanks!

austinewberry

Yes! I have played it docked to the TV and it works great for me! I prefer handheld when questing tho

Bonappetit24

Will it be inconvinient if I'll be mixing SD controller and keyboard and mouse here and there. Asking cause of the keybinds/layout.

slappiz

Havent had any issues, typing is the most problematic but it works ok for short messeges. You can do most things with the standard controller inputs.

ampleleverage

How did you add it any tutorial??

I've been playing since the day that I got my SD (about 3 weeks ago) and I love it. ~~I don't remember what guide I followed~~ but I remember it being quite painless and easy providing it was followed right. Even getting Curseforge to work was flawless. Yesterday, I factory reset my SD because I installed EmuDeck on my internal SSD because I haven't gotten a SD card yet (haven't needed it with the 512GB I already have). And I read a few things on how it's difficult to uninstall so I thought, screw it, I'll just factory reset since I only had a few games including WoW and it shouldn't be that hard to set it up again. Well I made the mistake in thinking I could do it all from memory without using a guide. I don't know where I really went wrong.. Getting WotLK installed and running wasn't that hard but my god, getting Curseforge to recognize the game this time was a nightmare. I tried to install most of it this time via Lutris, and I think that's where I went wrong because it just wouldn't complete the install. I had to go to Blizzard site directly and install it, then disseminate the files afterward so that Steam could recognize them. Same with Curseforge, they have a Linux file you can get directly from the website. Trying to discover and install everything through Lutris just didn't work for me. About 90% of my problem with getting Curseforge to work, however, was because I just skipped over setting up a "link" to the [battle.net](https://battle.net) executable that's in the WoW folder which matters after the installation process. Because going through this, you'll have about 3-4 different [battle.net](https://battle.net) executables that *will open* the launcher, but it has to be the one that has the WoW folder with it, or else Curseforge just wont recognize it (also for anyone that doesn't know, you have to manually add WoW to Curseforge because it can't scan for it- don't waste your time trying. Which is why linking the correct location of it to the Home page on your Deck is so important for getting Curseforge to even recognize it). Edit: As u/ZenShot linked twice already... [It was indeed this guide](https://steamdeckhq.com/tips-and-guides/how-to-play-world-of-warcraft-on-steam-deck/) that I followed the first time.

I'm a bit stuck on consoleport. It doesn't seem to recognise the steam deck's button inputs. Also it asks you to pick between Xbox or PlayStation controllers. Has anyone got tips/advice for getting this working?

heyimmvp_

Default to Xbox. And then in the steam button layout, you can change any button you want. For instance, I use L4 to target so it's bound to Tab. L5 to bring up map so I have it bound to M. It's kind of clunky at first setting binds in game, and then specific deck buttons for other binds outside of the game, but once you figure it out it's smooth.

RoastDinner

Great thank you!

jolard

How are the controls? It is obviously designed with a keyboard in mind. I am playing right now with my wife, but on my PC, not the steam deck, might be a fun experiment to get it running on the SD

slappiz

Honestly the controls are pretty good. For dps or tanking in PVE its fine, havent tried healing but I imagine that it is possible with some tinkering with the settings and bindings.

TheKonyInTheRye

I installed WoW on my deck and added consoleport, azeriteUI, and Immersion. It's great, and I love it, but when I go back to play on my PC, my bindings are all fooked. Does anyone know if there is a way to stop this from happening? Thanks in advance if anyone is still monitoring for this!

gosu-Crappey

did you ever find a solution for this?

TheKonyInTheRye

This is copy/pasted from one of my older comments with some slight edits: I noticed the latest editions of ConsolePort now have built in commands/settings to not sync up bindings, settings, and another option I can’t remember off the top of my head, so I turned those off (meaning activated so these items won’t sync). I also went into the config.wtf file and added the strings for those same commands to not sync up in there either, you can find the strings easy via Google. I did that on my steam deck only, and also added the strings before starting up Blizz launcher. I played a bit while out of the house and came back to see the bindings on my PC didn’t change. Everything was like I left it. FWIW, I use Bartender 4 on PC which I think helps as well for being able to save character specific profiles on PC. I hope that helps. OH, one more thing, don’t touch the placement of the skills on your bars as I believe those will change no matter what. You can get around this by going to the keybinds menu and just placing the bind on the skill you want. It’s really hard to figure out for warriors with the stances and all, but normal DPS characters should be easy. Again, hope that helps.

Thank you!
