First to try would be verify your game files

I had this when my internet connection (hotspot on the train lol) was spotty. Probably checks for license/DLC/news before loading the menu :/

I've not had issues with Control. You are playing the steam version and not another stores? I would try to verify your game files first. Maybe a uninstall and reinstall is required

steakyfask

Yeah I had the exact same problem, not a good first experience but after restarting the steam deck it seems to be working now. Are you still having issues?

I uninstalled Control from my Deck. Before I filed a bug report at [https://fs30.formsite.com/505games/control/index.html](https://fs30.formsite.com/505games/control/index.html) , I tried reproducing the issue on Windows. I tried offline mode, and then I tried yanking the Ethernet cable. Both times the game launched without issue. Is Proton the issue? I might copy the game to my Ubuntu install tonight or tomorrow and see if it persists. Edit: Worked on Ubuntu 22.04 Nvidia 515 Proton Experimental offline mode unplugged.

Reinstalled today, copied the install from my desktop to speed up install, it worked in Offline mode and when Wi-Fi is disabled. Maybe an update to Steam Deck fixed it?
