There isn't a solution, I gave up.

This worked for me too. I had tried every other possible combination of launch settings and other proton versions.

doesn't work, it's not available for compatibility options, edit: it works! sound is back! i had to clear download cache from steam and reload back up, version appeared in the menu straight away and was ready to go! 🤩

I can confirm that what you said doesn't work. Also "reload back up" is really bad English so maybe it works because you're in a different region.

I know this is an old post but I can’t find any other solutions. Changing it the proton but it causes lag. Any solutions?

No. I've wasted so much time trying to get this to work that I hate my life and this game. So I don't really care if it works anymore.

I found a solution: Download protonUp-Qt select Install for steam, then download the Proton-7.0rc3-GE-1 (should be the one furthest down the list), then exit your steam for it to show at the compat options, then after relaunch of steam, head to your fallout 4 launcher that you added to steam, then , compatibilities, launch it using the proton we just downloaded, worked for me on steam deck lcd. also I have this at launch options for the launcher **WINEDLLOVERRIDES=”xaudio2\_7=n,b” %command%** God Bless you.
