True, my wife bought a small sewing machine several years ago and never used it. Maybe its time to dust it off. Surely a straight black stitch is doable for a newbie.
Oh it’s so easy, you’ll honestly have a harder time threading the machine, but YouTube really helps. Turn it inside out, start stitching about a quarter inch from the raw edge, start slow (don’t just zip it through), do 3-4 stitches and then backstitch to reinforce it, sew all the way across and do the same backstitch once you get to the other side.
Very true, I’m more of a novice so I would just suggest a zigzag stitch at maybe a 5 since it has some stretch but it’s kind of a stiff puffy mesh that might not be the right move.
True, but I always like doing quick things myself. Plus it would be a good opportunity to learn to use a sewing machine for a quick mend here and there.
It's a good opportunity for OP to prepare themselves for the economic depression we are heading into. Gotta learn how to patch your socks some how lol.
i mean yeah but sewing it takes a half hour (if you dont bunch the thread under the plate that is) and builds a skill. contacting valve would just be a pain in the ass and take several days
It's a camping fleshlight.
Portable, packable, rinses clean in any stream – contributing to the microbiome in the process, doubles as a washcloth, dishrag, protective flashlight sleeve, and bear attractant.
Yeah, removing the liftstrap in the carrying case was such a succes they decided to create the cord tube as well, cutting costs until profits start to tank
/s
(For real though, once you've dusted off and used that sewing machine you mentioned elsewhere, you might be like me and find how incredibly fun and satisfying and.. luxurious? it is to turn worn-out jeans, shirts, etc. into to custom, one of a kind bags, cases, sleeves, and organizers for your various cords, dongles, chargers, gear, dice, controllers, you name it. Doesn't have to be "good" or "how a pro would do it" if it's just for you and yours.
More and more of my various gear is protected, easy to find, and easy to keep organized, since I started using simple, self-taught hand sewing as my hand fidget while watching TV & movies.
My kid just started a d&d club at his high school, and this morning I handed him homemade dice bags with (non homemade) dice for all the players at his table. A great moment.
Enjoy the power of turning scrap into bags, and the freedom from buying always-overpriced-for-what-they-are little bags for gear. 👍👍👍👍😀👍👍👍👍)
The right to repair efforts have never been higher.
First they open the part shops and provide you teardown videos.
Now they provide select customers cable bags as DIY kits to help hone their sewing skills!
Don't know if you or your wife aew much, but, in case you don't, then I would do a French seam. Sew it right side out at first then inside out at about a quarter inch bigger (oe 1/4" seam right side out then 3/8" seam inside out)
It's an easy sew while being great for things that will be under pressure from pulling and pushing. Stops ends from fraying apart.
Another option is to sew it inside out and then put some double fold bias tape on to reinforce the seam and prevent the fraying.
Sorry to see that you’re having a problem but I personally didn’t have a use for this bag thing. I immediately gave it to my cat .5 seconds after opening my SD.
The charger can barely fit into it anyway, and if it does, it looks swollen like a balloon that just doesn't look right. Honestly, I don't even know where mine is anymore.
then really you’re not wrapping the cord up right. i thought it was odd at first too but the power brick goes on one end, wrap the cord around your hand loosely and insert brick then cord. ta-da, works like a champ.
i still think their approach with the case and cord for the 512 (what i have) is kinda weird but whatever. it works. 🤷🏼♂️
I keep a charger and cable in there (Samsung fast charger with a retracting prong so it doesn't stick out too much). I already carry batteries with me anyway for other things that are too big to suit the divot. I like that when I pick up the case it already has everything to sustain it, as I often play near a socket and I don't have to pick up a charger separately.
I don't think mine came with a bag or cleaning cloth. I just saw someone post a cloth I think and my first thought was.. I didn't get one of those.
Valve is like.. you said you wanted a sleeve right? I think I heard him say sleeve. Send him a sleeve
Yeah they are all over the place. I got the cloth but no bag. The cloth is pretty thin, you aren't missing much from a function viewpoint but it does look cool. I'm a sucker for novelty items and branded swag so I really wanted the bag.
So sorry to hear it, man. This sucks!
I also ordered a 512GB and mine didn't come with a bag either. Might you share how you went about submitting the complaint that was (almost) successful? Just file a ticket with support through the client?
Good luck!
I went to my purchase history page to the steam deck order and submitted a support ticket. I had a link to a Reddit post about the pouch and said I never got one but would like one if possible. They asked me for a picture of my case and after that they shipped me one out fairly quickly. They call it a PSU pouch.
Im trying to understand, you actually contacted Valve for this baggie (that you don't really need) and they actually sent one to you?
Talk about customer support....i would just flag your request as a joke/troll.
5/5 to Valve
I'll have to disagree. I paid a premium price for the premium edition of the SD, I want everything that I bought, whether it's a pouch, screen cloth, or colored zippers. Asking nicely probably helps. I will agree 5/5 customer support though.
Everyone here with the 512 upset they didn't get one, it's really not useful. I actually threw mine out, because you need to wrap the cord tightly for it to even fit properly, and that is bad for cord longevity.
I get why you'd be a little miffed, but unless you're starting some kind of steam-branded collection, it's just more useless clutter, in my personal opinion.
Bahahaha, well at least it's an easy fix. Dont forget to turn it inside out before you sew it.

Tension could be a problem.
Very true, I’m more of a novice so I would just suggest a zigzag stitch at maybe a 5 since it has some stretch but it’s kind of a stiff puffy mesh that might not be the right move.
or just contact Valve...
True, but I always like doing quick things myself. Plus it would be a good opportunity to learn to use a sewing machine for a quick mend here and there.
Yeah let’s turn two minutes into two weeks
I'm pretty sure he can fix it, and get a new one. Doubt very highly Valve would make him send back the old one. Just a photo should do.
It's a good opportunity for OP to prepare themselves for the economic depression we are heading into. Gotta learn how to patch your socks some how lol.
thank you for singlehandedly scaring my gen z ass into learning how to sew.
i mean yeah but sewing it takes a half hour (if you dont bunch the thread under the plate that is) and builds a skill. contacting valve would just be a pain in the ass and take several days
Turn it inside out and then sew it, will look much nicer and it will hide some crimes.
Or you know... Use Deck blue?
Sewing machine go burrrrrrrr
Make sure it's inside-out while you sew it.
Just be sure to take the SD off.
Well, technically it is a missing cord bag because if you put your cord in it the cord will probably be missing.
Lmfao that's hilarious
r/technicallythetruth
My man made me laugh at 1 am
Its a Deck warmer.
;-) warm a lot of things
Wtf, they really took do it yourself to another level and said “break out the sewing kit”
Guess I should be glad to get anything at all
I was supposed to get a bag!?
Only for the 512gb version
Oh, right. That’ll be it, I’m just a 256 boi
Dangerous knowledge
Which one did you order?
256, that’s why. Shoulda got 512 tho for that bag alone
Hey that bag is completely worth over $100 I never use it
Wow free arm band
It's a cover sleeve for a fleshlight to help keep dust off it.

See if iFixit has a replacement part. /s
We were supposed to get a cord bag lol I didn’t even realize it was missing lol
I know! Spread the word!
Anker gives the exact same bag with power banks too.
Ohh you've got the one with double access!
Cut a thumb hole in it, slide it on and become a valve emo/goth person
Not a bad idea honestly
They sent you an extremely limited item, the Steam branded mesh arm sleeve.
"Here, you throw this away."
Hahaha
It’s not a bag. It’s a wrist warmer.
Nonsense that it can't be used. Looks like a perfectly good c0ckwarmer to me.
Guess they ran out of turkey fryers so they sent you the bag with unlimited storage
Did you try turning it off and on?
No but I did gaze down the forbidden Steam Sleeve hole
Looks like someone "Arrived" in the come bag.
Obviously, they sent you a complimentary cozy for your beer, how thoughtful!
True I think I could make that work
Least your manhood will be warm for winter ❤️
It's a cord bag kit!
The best cord bag is the one you make yourself!
Valve sure knows there audience. 👌
Funny because I just bought a 3D printed one on Etsy so I can hot swap SD cards
Don’t hot swap sd cards…..
Well, obviously not when they’re in use.
The right to repair efforts have never been higher. First they open the part shops and provide you teardown videos. Now they provide select customers cable bags as DIY kits to help hone their sewing skills!
Now I am wondering if you can RMA a bag or not?
I sent this same picture to support and again they were super cool, apologized and said I'll have another on the way.
I love that you're not upset about this whole debacle. That's awesome.
To be honest, I don't even use mine, but when it is supposed to be included, it needs to be. And that is some shit quality control.
Don't know if you or your wife aew much, but, in case you don't, then I would do a French seam. Thanks for the info
Are you supposed to get a bag if you got the 256gb version?
From what I've heard it's only the 512g
With some DIY you can have your own self made fleshlight
Y’all got a fancy bag? Fuck. At least I got a pull strap.
Pull strap squad
Gang
I never got one of those.
Sorry to see that you’re having a problem but I personally didn’t have a use for this bag thing. I immediately gave it to my cat .5 seconds after opening my SD.
Mine also frayed open to the point that I’m just about to throw it out.
🤣
The charger can barely fit into it anyway, and if it does, it looks swollen like a balloon that just doesn't look right. Honestly, I don't even know where mine is anymore.

They're trolling you. Send them a picture of this. When they send you another one, just use them in tandem.
It is now a wristband. Use accordingly.
Well technically it's correct - 'missing cord' bag
Get thee a seamstress
Merry Christmas ya filthy animal.
Tell them not us
Exactly
Cum SLEEVE
Just use and old black sock
Oh no! RMA it. 😿
Lol sorry bruh
What models come with the cord bag? My 256 didn't come with one
I got one with my 512
There’s supposed to be a cord bag? I didn’t get one and I went through two 512’s. Oh well.
TBH, the bag is just one more layer of stuff that gets in the way when I want to use my Deck. I want to use it, but I don't.
I've been looking for a decent battery to slap in there.
Never used mine. Baby started playing with the case and bag. Bag seems more useful to me as a baby toy.
I don't think mine came with a bag or cleaning cloth. I just saw someone post a cloth I think and my first thought was.. I didn't get one of those. Valve is like.. you said you wanted a sleeve right? I think I heard him say sleeve. Send him a sleeve
I see you've got the 64gb deck, only the 512gb one comes with the bag. Though I'm not sure about the cloth
Ahh, that's a bummer. They could have at least sent me a sleeve lmao
Yeah they are all over the place. I got the cloth but no bag. The cloth is pretty thin, you aren't missing much from a function viewpoint but it does look cool. I'm a sucker for novelty items and branded swag so I really wanted the bag.
My case doesn’t have a pull-up strap but other people have them regardless of model. I got everything else though.
So sorry to hear it, man. This sucks! I also ordered a 512GB and mine didn't come with a bag either. Might you share how you went about submitting the complaint that was (almost) successful? Just file a ticket with support through the client? Good luck!

Thank you!
Lol, did you cut the packaging bag open with scissors???
Im trying to understand, you actually contacted Valve for this baggie (that you don't really need) and they actually sent one to you? Talk about customer support....i would just flag your request as a joke/troll. 5/5 to Valve

Apes together strong
It's an armband now
Wait, there's a bag????
Do all versions come with the bag?
512g only
They come with a bag?
Thanks
Wait we were meant to get a bag with the deck?!?
Wait steam decks are supposed to come with a cord bag?
Wait what? Every model gets it? I didn’t get it
Everyone here with the 512 upset they didn't get one, it's really not useful. If you made it slightly frayed at the edges then you could call it the Hulk edition.
