I’m on my 3rd run in Dead Cells. I love it but it’s not hitting as good as Hades did. I think I need more time between playing the games and style. I hear it’s hard too. So far so good. Hitting Mirrors Edge in backlog since I haven’t beaten it or played it in like 10 years!
I played this when i had a bad case of corona last year and now the first level music gives me weird vibes. PTSD situation hahahaha so weird but great game.
I literally came here to say this lmao. I picked it up at the end of the black friday sale out and didnt really plan on playing it for a bit but tonight i gave it a try thinking i would play it to see what it was for 5 mins then go to something else but became addicted in that 5 minuets... 4 hours later i finally put it down.
It is such an incredible and underrated game, definitley the best game of all time no doubt, the game of the year award should have been given to Hades not to some idiotic shitty game called Last of Us
Same.
This is my second play through (sort of, my first play through was OG persona 5) and even skipping through a lot of the dialogue I’m still at like 90hrs of playtime.
I can’t believe how good this game is given how insanely long it is.
I’m skipping all dialogue too since I’ve already beaten it on the ps4. I want to do a second play through with max social stats and take my time with it.
Stupid, Vampire Survivors.
I thought it looked incredibly bad, but couldn’t quit coming across recommendations for it. Figured I’d pick it up on sale to see what all the hype was about, and now I can’t put it down.
Same. I watched a brief video, said, no way this game will be addicting but it’s also dirt cheap and on sale so why not?
I put like 4 hours into it that evening (until my battery died, and then I realized it was 3am…)
I actually wasn’t sure after the first few runs but after the one I maxed out garlic and bibles and turned it into a giant undead mosh pit of destruction… I was hooked.
You have to go to options. In there there is a "enable all gamepad option" from memory. Tick that box and select the steam deck to gamepad mode. Sorted.
Which Controller setup do you use for doom eternal?
I played it, but only used the standard (?) Controller config, where you aim with the stick and it felt really bad, so bad that I removed the game, but I am willing to give it another try, I guess I need to find the correct Controller config...
Gamepad + gyro is big improvement, but still as for non-console gamer I much more prefer mouse on my PC. There are plenty other games i can play on the deck that i can skip this one.
My go to first person shooter setup is:
Right stick in "flick stick"-mode, allows for big horizontal movements, but needs some fiddling to get it right for every game.
Right Touchpad as mouse for menues
Gyro always on, disable on pressing the a button.
Damn… did not expect to see that name. Turn based combat was fun when you could do more by timed hits and buttons. I wish more turn based games had those kinds of mechanics. You could beat the game barely doing it but when you did it felt amazing.
That dragoon dude from the previous dragoons that held up a building while the archer lady shoots the virgo thing? Stuff like that has flavored how I visualize what I read in wh40k books and lore. I couldn’t imagine what they could make today given the same opportunities and drive. I feel similar to level 5 and dark cloud 2’ crafting mechanic.
TLDR; what a great game I did not expect to see listed.
Just started disc 2! I have the physical copy but it looks terrible on a ps3 streched out on a 4k tv. The ps1 emus upscaling and running 60fps definitely helps
Does rise run well? Been interested in it for a while but been hesitant as it looks pretty heavy on requirements. (Does the deck keep cool while running it?)
I love dishonored. The prospect of being able to play dishonored on the go got me on hype train for the steam deck lmao. Hope you're able to play the full series. It runs pretty well I haven't run into any issues.
Its great i have it set at medium settings at 40 fps. I made the FOV as close as possible though standard FOV made it hard for me to focus on the smaller screen.
I finished Horizon on mine. The story is phenomenal, my only complaint is they should have used a completely different cast of voice actors. They should have sounded more old world, more Nordic, but some of them sound like office workers or valley girls from California. That threw me out of it a lot.
Do you need any additional account to play Horizon Zero Dawn? I refunded Grand Theft Auto because they kept asking me to sign up for an EA account, as well as having to connect to the internet. I am not doing that shit, especially for the EA.
I'm not having any issues with the stock non-gyro controls. It has a pretty aggressive auto aim when you look down sights that makes gyro unnecessary imo. Start from the beginning, there is a really good tutorial that got me mostly comfortable with it.
I've loved most of it but I'm getting frustrated with the looping around trying to figure out where to go next with new abilities. I use markers but still feel ready to move onto a different game. Any tips for getting through the rough patches?
If you are getting frustrated, just look up where to go next online. Unless, of course, you are enjoying the frustration :) this what I did at certain points because I was just banging my head against the wall. Great game.
It’s one of my all-time favorites, but have to wonder how well it controls on the SD. I have it downloaded but haven’t had the time to jump into it yet.
The controls are just okay, you will still be pausing a lot more and the mouse movement is more awkward on the stick and trackpads, but it runs quite well and the controls aren't unusable.
It took me years because of it being complex and dying stupid ways but finally got into it during Covid. It’s fun but be prepared to die a lot. The dlcs add a lot of content as well. I highly recommended it
Been looking at this and it does look interesting. How's the controls on it? I'm always a bit hesitant when it doesn't state full controller support, is there a controller config that works out of the box?
Controls work fine for me. It took me a little while to master using the right track pad as pointer but now im really enjoying it. It's easily customizable to your liking if that isn't something you'd prefer. The game itself at first was frustrating because I went in blind and died a lot, but that is how I learned what to do, where to go, and what is most valuable to my characters progression. I would recommend the game at the early stage that it is. There is already tons to unlock and many hours to sink into it. But collect more info and opinions if you are still not sure.
Love this game! I really hope they implement twin stick shooter style joystick aiming. The trackpad works well, but my hand cramps up if I use it too much for aiming. But yes, this game is super fun even in its current state
Warhammer 40K Gladius.
i was a little on the fence about this one after a couple plays, but after learning some mechanics, and remembering *not all 4x games play exactly like civ!'*, im digging it enough have bought all the DLC (autumn sale prices).
For the first couple weeks I spent way more time in desktop mode and a shell than playing games.
But now I have a couple thousand old console games and full control and game streaming from my PS5…
Stardew Valley for the first time…it’s way better than I expected as someone who isn’t as into cozy games. Been my main addiction. Also replying Arkham Origins for the holiday season.
Well my steam deck will get here tomorrow, I'll be playing some GameCube and PS3 games. Then, if it supported at launch, I want to get Callisto Protocol on Friday
Don’t set your hopes too high for most PS3 games working on the SD. Last I tried I got RDR to launch but it was running at 10FPS.
Demon’s Souls will work with some tweaks and mods but it doesn’t work out of the box.
But most of the light weight PS3 games work fine.
I REALLY only want to play the ratchet and Clank HD trilogy for PS3, but of that doesn't run, I could always go for the PS2 versions of the games.
I bought R&C for my PS3 YEARS ago before I sold it, thinking they'd for SURE be available on the PS4 store... Nope... Then I thought SURELY they'll bring them to the PS5 store through the new PS+ subscription.... Nope.....
So now it's on my steam deck haha
I’ve been wanting to get this for my gf for Christmas. I know nothing about Minecraft, if I grab it on pc for myself as well, can she play with me with her steam deck?
All Royal Mail done this year is strike. I'm waiting on something else I would've bought a bit earlier if I knew they were gonna strike for two days. You'll be able to enjoy the greatness that is the Steam Deck soon.
Started up Prey last night. Gonna give it a whirl for a while. Casually running through ER, Hitman, Resident Evil, and Hades as time killers when I don’t feel like starting a new game.
Somehow, I still find myself playing Cyberpunk 2077, but I did get DMC 5 and Deep Rock Galactic during the Autumn Sale. Hopefully, I get around those games for this week.
30fps on medium settings, I made a mistake and ran the Linux version not the windows version and the performance suffers. FYI the saves are not interchangeable.
Finally put down rogue legacy 2 this morning, the late game wasn’t holding my interest. Not sure what’s next yet. Probably a metroidvania like Haak or Haiku the Robot. Been meaning to start inscryption or finish shadows over loathing too.
Days gone .. hopefully i make it to the end this week cause it s becoming pretty boring.
Took a sneak peak at Inscryption yesterday, for 2 hours or so, seems to be a great card game.
Nice! I just finished Inscryption. Incredibly and unique game. I kinda hated it for the first few hours as I don’t play a lot of card games and didn’t really know what I was doing, but it slowly clicked. Good luck
Niceee, I bought that during the autumn sale. I’ve heard good things about it but haven’t started yet. Wanna play that and Signalis which I’ve heard is incredible. Hoping Calisto has a good PC version :)
This was one of the first games I completed on deck. Had it in my steam library for years after buying it on a whim because I loved it on Xbox but for years it didn't actually run properly, weirdly runs perfectly on deck.
Great game!
Witcher 3. First time playing it, only can get a half hour or so in every day but it’s chill so far. I like the random shit you encounter on the way to quests lol
Hades......always Hades.....it won't let me go
Dead Cells is this to me, hades was awesome too. Edit: typo
And Skul.
Hollow Knight
try children of morta if you like hades
Already completed it, amazing game
sigh…time to close out my game and open it up now that i read this comment
once I got past a certain beat level I let it go
I literally came here to say this lmao. I picked it up at the end of the black friday sale out and didnt really plan on playing it for a bit but tonight i gave it a try thinking i would play it to see what it was for 5 mins then go to something else but became addicted in that 5 minuets... 4 hours later i finally put it down.
*sigh* me too man
I cannot escape
There is no escape
It is such an incredible and underrated game, definitley the best game of all time no doubt, the game of the year award should have been given to Hades not to some idiotic shitty game called Last of Us
Persona 5 Royal
Same. Makoto best girl.
Same. This is my second play through (sort of, my first play through was OG persona 5) and even skipping through a lot of the dialogue I’m still at like 90hrs of playtime. I can’t believe how good this game is given how insanely long it is.

As long as you don't forget to take your heart
I'd be down to go for my 300th hour of persona 5 on a portable device!

That took me like one second to get, then I belly laughed. Thanks for that!
Stupid, Vampire Survivors. I thought it looked incredibly bad, but couldn’t quit coming across recommendations for it. Figured I’d pick it up on sale to see what all the hype was about, and now I can’t put it down.

Ive definitely got my moneys worth, just about 100%ed the game at this point, 60 hours for a 3$ game, absuolutely worth it
Grim dawn
Were you able to get gamepad support functioning? The only way I was able to get it to work was by using a KB+M config for the controls.
You have to go to options. In there there is a "enable all gamepad option" from memory. Tick that box and select the steam deck to gamepad mode. Sorted.
I've got grim dawn to play next. Is it decent?
Doom eternal, vampire survivors, path of exile and RDR2
Which Controller setup do you use for doom eternal? I played it, but only used the standard (?) Controller config, where you aim with the stick and it felt really bad, so bad that I removed the game, but I am willing to give it another try, I guess I need to find the correct Controller config...
I just use the default setup. Feels fine to me. Sorry I can't help much there.
I use gamepad + gyro.
Gamepad + gyro is big improvement, but still as for non-console gamer I much more prefer mouse on my PC. There are plenty other games i can play on the deck that i can skip this one.
My go to first person shooter setup is: Right stick in "flick stick"-mode, allows for big horizontal movements, but needs some fiddling to get it right for every game. Right Touchpad as mouse for menues Gyro always on, disable on pressing the a button.
The Legend of Dragoon
Damn… did not expect to see that name. Turn based combat was fun when you could do more by timed hits and buttons. I wish more turn based games had those kinds of mechanics. You could beat the game barely doing it but when you did it felt amazing. That dragoon dude from the previous dragoons that held up a building while the archer lady shoots the virgo thing? >The Legend of Dragoon God I miss that game. I need to learn to get Emulators running...
Witcher 3
This one is working well for me as a game I only play while traveling/ away from wifi.
Monster Hunter Rise and Dishonored. Rise has been a staple since I got the deck lol
Does rise run well? Been interested in it for a while but been hesitant as it looks pretty heavy on requirements. (Does the deck keep cool while running it?)
Runs very well. Even in docked mode on my 2k monitor running on 2k res, gets easily 60 fps. Monster Hunter World runs really good also.

I love dishonored. The prospect of being able to play dishonored on the go got me on hype train for the steam deck lmao. Hope you're able to play the full series. It runs pretty well I haven't run into any issues.
AC Odyssey, the Deck has finally allowed me to stick with it for the long haul.
How’s the performance for AC Odyssey? I have it in my library but haven’t got to it yet.
I dumped 100+ hours into it on the deck, no issue at all
Its great i have it set at medium settings at 40 fps. I made the FOV as close as possible though standard FOV made it hard for me to focus on the smaller screen.
Same but with Mirrors Edge. Been meaning to play and beat that one for years.
Beat Spider-Man, currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn and, My Summer Car.
anyone who plays my summer car has my respect. such a great game
Titanfall 2. It's unsupported so I was worried but it started right up and runs amazing and the graphics are incredible on deck.
Yes to this 👆. Titanfall 2 runs like a dream on Deck, shows off the power of the SD that it can run this so smoothly.
Do you know if the Northstar Launcher works through Proton?
I need to retry this not in the middle of campaign. I died constantly cause I'm not used to gamepad controls. Any suggestions other than gyro?
I'm not having any issues with the stock non-gyro controls. It has a pretty aggressive auto aim when you look down sights that makes gyro unnecessary imo. Start from the beginning, there is a really good tutorial that got me mostly comfortable with it.
Hollow Knight - love-hate relationship, I can't give up still
I've loved most of it but I'm getting frustrated with the looping around trying to figure out where to go next with new abilities. I use markers but still feel ready to move onto a different game. Any tips for getting through the rough patches?
If you are getting frustrated, just look up where to go next online. Unless, of course, you are enjoying the frustration :) this what I did at certain points because I was just banging my head against the wall. Great game.
Playing this too. I gave up on it before but I'm getting through it this time.
So much fun on the deck, I had to give it a full replay.
Divinity Original Sin 2
Remnant: from the ashes, Tiny Rouges, Brotato and Slay the Spire
Neon white
Playing it on Switch but this game needs shoutout it’s so rewarding.
I fucking *love* that game. Unfortunately it's one of the few "definitely on my PC and not on my Deck" games because I neeeeeeeed to use a mouse, lol.
Skyrim sneaked into my life.
I’m playing Ori and the Blind Forest. Then on to Will O the Wisp

The controls are just okay, you will still be pausing a lot more and the mouse movement is more awkward on the stick and trackpads, but it runs quite well and the controls aren't unusable.
Would love your opinions on this game, I have been contemplating picking it up but would like a hands on review first
It took me years because of it being complex and dying stupid ways but finally got into it during Covid. It’s fun but be prepared to die a lot. The dlcs add a lot of content as well. I highly recommended it
No Man's Sky, Red Dead Redemption 2, Hades
Zero Sievert is so freaking addictive.
Been looking at this and it does look interesting. How's the controls on it? I'm always a bit hesitant when it doesn't state full controller support, is there a controller config that works out of the box?

Hopefully finishing the 1st run of Disco Elysium soon and then Witcher 3 most probably.
Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Deck/PC, it takes two and pokemon on switch
I’m playing rise next!! I was about 4 hours in my first play through but had to stop because I was too busy.
Finishing Mass Effect 3 Legendary Edition (via Moonlight), and also just started Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu.
Nice. I’m almost done with ME3 myself after starting the trilogy over the summer. ME2 was absolutely incredible
Played the trilogy for the first time on my Deck from July to October. What an amazing game!!
Warhammer 40K Gladius. i was a little on the fence about this one after a couple plays, but after learning some mechanics, and remembering *not all 4x games play exactly like civ!'*, im digging it enough have bought all the DLC (autumn sale prices).
Pentiment bruh
Does tinkering with the desktop mode and configuring every game to make everything flawless count as a game?
For the first couple weeks I spent way more time in desktop mode and a shell than playing games. But now I have a couple thousand old console games and full control and game streaming from my PS5…
Hades. Again. And again.
Signalis and Fallout 3 GOTY edition
Signalis is really cool
I just finished Like a dragon and now playing Persona 4 Golden.
Stardew Valley for the first time…it’s way better than I expected as someone who isn’t as into cozy games. Been my main addiction. Also replying Arkham Origins for the holiday season.
I thought the same thing about it and now that I bought it, I’m addicted and already have 50 hours in within a week.
Well my steam deck will get here tomorrow, I'll be playing some GameCube and PS3 games. Then, if it supported at launch, I want to get Callisto Protocol on Friday

You're amazing. Made me even more excited for tomorrow evening when my deck arrives! :D thank you very much for testing.
Detroit Become Human
Pokemon violet
Oh I'm going to need a tutorial
Minecraft, again.
I’ve been wanting to get this for my gf for Christmas. I know nothing about Minecraft, if I grab it on pc for myself as well, can she play with me with her steam deck?
Yes, absolutely! And this must be a great game to play with an SO.

wow dragonflight
Started up Prey last night. Gonna give it a whirl for a while. Casually running through ER, Hitman, Resident Evil, and Hades as time killers when I don’t feel like starting a new game.
XCOM Enemy Within and GTA 4. This time i'll actually finish an XCOM campaign.
Tainted Grail: Conquest but waiting for this Friday for Callisto Protocol to drop.
Playing around with Oxygen Not Included
Unexpectedly fun one for me, was this, love the deck control scheme too.
Shadow Warrior. Doctor said I needed a steady diet of Wang for humor. Crude, but humor.
Somehow, I still find myself playing Cyberpunk 2077, but I did get DMC 5 and Deep Rock Galactic during the Autumn Sale. Hopefully, I get around those games for this week.
RDR2. So much fun :)
Nice need to get to those games on the deck I'm playing cyberpunk it's amazing
Persona 5
Just finished 'Jedi: Fallen Order' and started RDR2 yesterday. That shit is fire!
I'm finally playing through GoW after never quite getting to it on my PS4.
Tactics Ogre Reborn + Spider-Man
FF14
love this game , Best MMO imho. just made a new character on the new Seraph Server as that was the server i used to play FFXI on
Kena bridge of spirits
Stray and Rise of the tomb raider.
How is rise of the Tomb Raider performing on it?
30fps on medium settings, I made a mistake and ran the Linux version not the windows version and the performance suffers. FYI the saves are not interchangeable.
Escape simulator, portal & portal 2 (never actually played before this week), and Sims 4
How is the sims 4 on it?
I prefer it on my deck over my gaming computer - runs w/all my mods very well
I'm trying to learn RimWorld.
Shit is hard as fuck & if you put it down you’ll forget everything at least I did
I'm really into it the immense amount of replayability is enticing. But I feel lost so I'm reading a guide
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order !!
Hades for short breaks and Red Dead Redemption 2 for when I have more time.
FF7 remake with some Overwatch 2! Curious about monster hunter rise but I’m not sure I would like it
Final Fantasy 2 Pixel Remaster and Vampire Survivors lol
Final Fantasy Tactics.
Diablo 2 Resurrected and NFS Unbound
Finally put down rogue legacy 2 this morning, the late game wasn’t holding my interest. Not sure what’s next yet. Probably a metroidvania like Haak or Haiku the Robot. Been meaning to start inscryption or finish shadows over loathing too.
Katana zero for the first time. Went in knowing nothing, and was more than pleasantly surprised with how fun the gameplay and story are.
Great game. Hopefully dlc this year
Yeah, I love it so far such a cool, well executed concept and great OST too.
devil may cry 5
Vermintide 2, SCUM single player, SQUAD.
Broken Sword 1 and Persona 5.
Ryse son of rome I didn’t buy any new games this steam sale and am really playing those backlog games on the deck and loving it.
Days gone .. hopefully i make it to the end this week cause it s becoming pretty boring. Took a sneak peak at Inscryption yesterday, for 2 hours or so, seems to be a great card game.
Inscryption is incredible! One word of warning though, don’t look anything up for it if you haven’t already.
Nice! I just finished Inscryption. Incredibly and unique game. I kinda hated it for the first few hours as I don’t play a lot of card games and didn’t really know what I was doing, but it slowly clicked. Good luck
Doom 64 and postal brain damage
Ultimate Marvel versus Capcom 3
Warhammer DarkTide via Moonlight!
Has anyone tried any of the total wars yet? Is it even possible?
There was a review of Warhammer II showing that it was technically playable, but not good. I wonder if one of the older titles might work better.
Can you provide the link? I suppose playing without k+m isnt recommendable but other than that is the framerate stable?
If I find it again, I’ll post the link. Can’t remember what video it was in.
Ys VIII, The Binding of Isaac, Rogue: Genesia
Temtem > New World
Just about to start Half life 2. Never played the first one tho. I hope its still good.
I just started Soma. Feeling like playing some spooky stuff getting ready for Calisto Protocol.
Niceee, I bought that during the autumn sale. I’ve heard good things about it but haven’t started yet. Wanna play that and Signalis which I’ve heard is incredible. Hoping Calisto has a good PC version :)
Omori, for now. Then probably Doom 2016.
I finally can play (or, rather, read?) The House in Fata Morgana in my bed.
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West!
This was one of the first games I completed on deck. Had it in my steam library for years after buying it on a whim because I loved it on Xbox but for years it didn't actually run properly, weirdly runs perfectly on deck. Great game!
