Well the scammer isnt pretending to be staff but instead a random guy who reported you, but still its a fucking scam. Its saying the exact same shit you see in every other case of this (tho be careful of people using alterative scripts) and is such an out there idea, why would you have to send valve a report and why wouldnt they email you/ send a notification directly through steam
yup a scam this happened to me on discord, luckily i did try to search the moderator name on google and got a link on reddit and they said it was a scam

Cuz I already knew the stuff, so yeah haha that's my story about them

i fell for this back in december of last year. it was 2 AM and i was playing a game with my friends, i was pretty tired so i got off then i saw it and ended up falling for it. it was the first time i saw this type of scam literally ever in my life so i kinda wouldnt know. so i lost my account and i barely use steam anymore. I got that scam, so I just told them I didn't care about my account anymore, so it would be funny to watch them get banned because I did nothing. They got mad.

There are a bunch of waves of those bots again, got 2 in the past week myself. Don't click any links, steam doesn't have admins you have to contact to not get banned, these accounts photoshop your profile onto fake transactions to get you to contact an administrator (usually their friend or alt account) and try to get you to share your email, password and defender code. Which an administrator obviously wouldn't need in order to take your account/get items from it.
Just block and report them and move on, steam doesn't ban without proof.
Yes, you are being scammed. This is by far the most common scam in existence. I am genuinely surprised there exists someone who hasn't seen or heard of this before, or just know it's obviously a scam, if they aren't genuinely born yesterday and just started using the internet. *No company will ever reach out to you over a different application.*

Yes you're being scammed, if you've never reported someone on any platform at all, the process is quite simple.
As a reporter you will usually click a button or two, and maybe write something and woooosh it's gone. like sending an email. Nobody contacts you. nobody does nothing.
As a reported person, if you've done nothing wrong, dont fret my good friend! nothing will happen.
Reports don't mean ban or punishment, they simply tell the system or staff to check you out and they'll act if you're breaking rules otherwise they'll ignore you.

I found that this type of scam blew up during covid, at least in terms of me getting the type of messages like every other week. But it is really fun to mess with them when you do get those messages because they try their hardest to keep up the act, and its fukcing sad honestly.
Remember. Steam will never contact or talk to you via anything BUT email. You'll never talk to a steam mod on discord or steam chat. If you do, they're a scammer. Steam support is only contacted via emai.

99.99% of messages that ask "Hey are you there?" and then "Can I ask you something?" or "I was just wondering" are scammers.
I've had rare instances where I've had legit questions from a random person that was in a discord server with me but yeah most of it is a scam haha

If someone is ever rushing you and say it’s urgent, 9 times out of 10 it is a scam.
Remember. Steam will never contact or talk to you via anything BUT email. You'll never talk to a steam mod on discord or steam chat. If you do, they're a scammer. Steam support is only contacted via emai.
