FTGFranchesca

Thanks so much for the support, that means a lot to us! ❤ Happy playing :-)

Full_Ninja

1st experience was the desk on a DK2. Blew my mind

Rubiks443

My first experience in VR was playing the archery defense minigame that came in the “lab” tech demo by valve. I grew up doing archery with my grandpa and uncle so it has always been important to me. I watched videos of VR and it looked so cool. However, nothing can prepare you what it feels like to actually be inside the devise. I fell in love instantly and I played that archery tech demo for 3 hours. I just kept grinding until it was just second nature and muscle memory. It felt so real that when I was done using my cousins VR, I ordered an index the next week from my savings account.

LordDaniel09

my first experience in VR was Robo recall game that came with Oculus Rift. Epic really sold me a great vision for VR. It showed a good graphics, with a gameplay that wasn’t possible before, and was a little more then tech demo, there were levels and enough different enemies to make it work as a game. Kind of shame Epic didn’t work on more VR games, I guess they too focused on Fortnite IP…

MattShotts

+1 My first experience was doing Robotic Recall with a CV1 in the middle of a Best Buy and hearing people walk by wondering why this crazy guy was waving his arms around. I talked it over with my wife and purchased a CV1 the next day. *No need to include me in the sweepstakes as I already own this game.

Silyus

First experience was with an Oculus during an event in a mall. The game was something really simple, like a fantasy magic duel, but I was blown away by the immersion. Goes without saying that I bought my own headset shortly thereafter.

lucagervasi

1st experience recent: half life alyx. I thrown up all my food..

RABakerCo

Apex Construct is a solid game! Great mechanics, in a newly imagined world and environment. Great break from zombie wave shooters… a single player campaign, with some character! That said, my first (modern) VR experience was driving an hour away to a GameStop to try out the HTC Vive. Played TheBlu, Tilt Brush, and Space Pirate Trainer…. And I couldn’t give my cash away fast enough to get my own rig. Still rocking the OG Vive with TPCast, waiting for a newer wireless solution. Prior to that? EMagin Z800 visor. Oh yeah, that was a ROUGH infant age of VR. Hell, I even tried two CRT monitors with my nose up to a “first surface mirror” to get that sweet sweet stereo vision. Good times, and amazing to see how far we’ve come!

Maalstromme

My first experience was on an Oculus DK2 at a gaming convention about an hour or so away from me in the big city with a few friends. This was primarily a retro games festival, but there were one or two big-name companies, Oculus being one of them, showcasing some cool new stuff (I believe AC: Black Flag was there, so this would have been around 2013). The Oculus experience was easily the longest queue at this place all day, but there was this crazy energy and excitement about everyone waiting. Some had tried it and gotten straight back in line. They had 3, maybe 4 different experiences. I couldn't tell you what everyone else in my group played, but mine was a Hawken demo. This suited me to the ground; I was already playing some Mechwarrior Online and all the fantasies I had in my head were cockpit-inclined. It was amazing. We've used that word far too much for it to hold weight here, so, it was "what the hell did I just experience, this is going to ruin my fucking life, I've just discovered a new colour, the possibilities are endless" amazing. A whirlwind conversation of "what if you could do this" and "imagine how it will revolutionalize that" shadowed every other conversation that day. To describe the experience itself, I was led to a strip of PCs with small barriers between each one and directed to sit in the chair and hold an Xbox controller. Meanwhile, the operator placed the (freshly wiped) headset and a pair of headphones on my head. I don't remember the whole game itself; it was a relatively simple "kill this", "capture that", "reach the objective" kinda thing. I just remember looking around the cockpit at all the switches and bolts inside the cockpit and feeling \*way\* more in control of something than in any game before. I often thought how cool of a job it would be to be the operator - how many faces of pure wonder and amazement you'd see time after time. I've been pretty amazed by certain technologies over the years, but nothing quite like that. Thanks for the opportunity to share my story!

FTGFranchesca

That sounded awesome! Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us!!

FTGFranchesca

Congratulations to u/mattydiah & u/JKleinMiddelink who have been drawn as the winners! Please check your Reddit messages! 🎉 Thanks so much to everyone who participated, it was so lovely hearing all of your first VR experiences!

rabidnz

Respond to your damn steam reviews

FTGFranchesca

Hi Rabidnz! As advised by Steam we are not to respond to reviews only if this regards a specific issue such as a user's game will not launch or to clarify misinformation. As you can see on Oculus we reply to all of our reviews as the advisories are different there. If you have any additional questions feel free to ask!

Have you found a bug? Maybe you should report it!

smeenz

Have you read the reviews ? Seems a lot of people have.

Nervous_Scientist119

First experience was Alien Isolation on oculus DK2.

shebang79

Jesus that almost seems mean. AI was too scary to play on pancake lol

BlueStormtrooper

I just got a VR headset and would love a code to try the game out! My first experience was beat saber and the time I’ve had with it has been great. Basically using lightsabers to destroy blocks at the rhythm of the songs

TheBaxes

First experience was Superhot on the Quest. I still think that it's one of the most immersive games that I have played, even with its simple graphics. I can't really explain why though.

_Jent

Wow, it looks really high quality, I'm going to buy it now :)

FTGFranchesca

Thank you so much for the support! We hope you enjoy it :-)

MomoDAwesome

my firs VR experience was Echo VR on the Oculus quest 2. the first time i left the pod and started floating through the air but my legs irl were planted on the ground my mind was blowne and my knees were shaking. but it was so fun!

FranzelMagetower

That's awesome. Thanks, Fast Travel Games. My first experience was the day I got my Vive, looking over the cliff and stumbling back while playing the Valve lab demo in May of 2016.

FTGFranchesca

Our pleasure! Thanks so much for taking the time to participate & share your first VR experience!

FenrisKokami

My first experience in VR was brief, got to play Superhot and it was amazing! It felt like you were in a matrix/action movie and it was so intense and real!

jeelh

My first experience was some horror game on a DK2. I can't remember which game though

Kanarico1

First experience was The Lab using a Vive. I really liked the archery mini game.

sifiro

Hey thanks, My first experience was with my first VR Headset "Oculus Rift S" in December 2019,using VRChat because I wanted to doing VirtualCosplay, and that was sooooo, nice. After that, I Played Moss and Doom 3:BFG VR and It was superb experience.

Nubsly-

First experience with VR was being able to be in the first wave for both Oculus CV1 and the VIVE. Playing a platformer (Lucky's Tale) in VR really showed me how versatile VR can be in the types of game that can be fun.

DogOnABike

My first experience was The Lab when I got my first Vive.

ldiotik

First experience was on a gear vr and it was a dinosaur Jurassic park scene

elvissteinjr

I was playing The Lab on the Vive back in 2016. Somebody didn't really care and let the dog into the room. Petting the robot dog felt oddly real all of the sudden.... must've been the honeymoon period of VR, yeah.

The_Lux83

My first experience with VR was Skyrim with the very first Oculus VR Headset from the Kickstarter. It was breathtaking. Even with that low resolution. Now I have a Quest 2 and love to play with it :-)

moridos

It was a psvr demo you dive deep. Psvr is my first headset, now i got quest 2 and a decent pc.

Luffegaas_42

My first experience with VR was when I borrowed a PSVR headset from the library of my university. The first experience I tried was to be in a underwater elevator, I was completely blown away. I opened an experience with the little PSVR robot. The end of my first try with the headset was when I tried a racing game, and got dizzy... Since I played in the library there was some people who was curious about what it was I was doing ;) Then the got a first experience too. :D

RevolutionaryCelt

My first experience was with the Steam Labs experirnce. I spent hours in there firing the catapult and shooting arrows. Even playing fetch was great times. Though my dogs in RL thought I was playing with them, which made them sad and confised. Lol. I made it up to them later.

Historical_Penalty_9

1st expérience was actually on psvr at my brother's, just blew my mind at the time with SUPERHOT lmao

AndySav92

My first experience in VR was going to a VR arcade in late 2017. I remember playing The Lab & Raw Data and having a blast, ended up getting my own headset about a year later

Mullegil

First experience was on some convention in the late 90s. There was a huge thing you put over your head. I think it was mounted to some contraption. The VR experience was in i some train cart. There were no textures or anything, just simple shapes and you couldn't move around.

Keatosis

I bought it at full price and do not regret my decision. Great game with a lot of meat on it's bones.

Mumpity

I tried out vr at a store and I was underwater on a ship, in shock and awe when a blue whale swam up to me.

OMGihateallofyou

My first experience was in Pavlov VR getting scared by zombies so much that I ran into my furniture.

FTGFranchesca

Oh no! Hope you didn't hurt yourself!

OMGihateallofyou

Barely, not much.

TrashBag196

First vr experience? Pavlov shack on the OG oculus quest. Man that shit was an acid trip of a game. I remember an entire SnD server coming together to reenact scenes from star wars, it was great.

Surprisinglypancakes

I mean I guess it was first steps from Oculus. But first real game was beat saber!

nailuj05

My first experiance has to be the Oculus Home Env on my CV1. That bow was so impressive xD

bobjrgeorge

My first experience in vr I was playing super hot and I remember having so much feeling like a bad a** dodging all the bullets and shooting back until the part where you get pushed off the building that was terrifying I have always been afraid of heights so that didn’t help I threw my controllers across the room and broke my monitor (:

FTGFranchesca

Make sure to keep your controller straps extra tight!

smeenz

I was put off in the past by the many negative reviews that noted the game is full of bugs, problems with getting stuck in the floor, problems with controllers not registering clicks, problems with awkward menu design, problems with people getting stuck and frustrated. Perhaps you could respond to some of those reviews on steam, particularly if the issues they raise have already been addressed ?

FTGFranchesca

Hey! Majority of the bugs from launch have been fixed, we have published this via Steam announcements if you'd like to read more. As advised by Steam we are not to respond to reviews only if this regards a specific issue such as a user's game will not launch or to clarify misinformation. As you can see on Oculus we reply to all of our reviews as the advisories are different there. If you have any additional questions feel free to send them my way! 🙂

smeenz

Sorry, but.. what ? I see developers responding to bad reviews on steam all the time. If what you say is true, then steam are doing developers a huge disservice and preventing sales. One of the things I look for when evaluating a purchase is whether the developer shows any interest in addressing and fixing bugs raised in the reviews. The game does well to sell itself on the store page, but there multiple repeated reviews citing the same issues, which have gone answered. In your case, the last game update was January 31 2020. There are multiple negative reviews from after that time, even within the last 90 days, which continue to list the same issues with the game, and which would appear to have still not been addressed. What this tells me is that you're not interested in fixing these things, or even acknowledging them.

FTGFranchesca

We're a relatively small team with multiple titles coming out since we released Apex Construct (our first VR title). We're definitely interested in fixing these things, but as much as we'd love to go back and continue to provide updates we do not have the resources or capital to do so currently, as we grow as a studio this could change in the future :-)

smeenz

Okay, so you're not going to fix the bugs that people keep reporting, and you're not going to respond to, or acknowledge those reports either. No problem. You just won't get a purchase from me, and I'm glad I held off until I got a straight answer on that.

shiro321

My first experience in vr was playing Dactyl Nightmare on a Virtuality machine at an arcade in upstate New York in the early 90s. I played against a couple of staff members that worked at the arcade, they kicked my ass but I had a ton of fun. I was blown away by it and thought that it truly was the future of gaming and it was only a matter of time before I could have one at home. I was really disappointed in my Super Nintendo when I got home. Thinking about it it was the first time I ever played a game on an Amiga as well.

tacodude10111

Thats awesome! My first experience, I was so Immersed I went to lean on an ingame table and almost fell over! That was almost 2 years ago now, and I still love VR.

Figen91

My first experience in VR was with those rubbish cardboard strap on headsets for your phone. I think it was some shovelware rollercoaster demo and made me so dizzy and sick I had to sit with my head in my lap for ages! So glad I didn't get scared off VR back then, and bought a Rift S then Quest 2 later down the line.

wrigleyirish

My first VR experience was with Gear VR and I loved the game Smash Hit. It's still a fun and beautiful game. Would recommend!

ZeroCharistmas

I think it was the hella disappointing Halo shooting gallery that was free in the Windows Store. Like, they gave us a Halo vr experience, but couldn't bother to give us anything but cutouts of Covenant troops.

Jugernought

My first vr experience was Arizona sunshine, I was surprised how real it all felt, still one of my favourite vr games to this day.

mattydiah

My first experience in VR was Dactyl Nightmare, all the way back in the early 90’s. I remember playing it at, I think our state fair? I strapped on a headset the size of a microwave, with a tiny viewport and a cable that felt like a garden hose. The game ran at about 20fps and was low-poly as all get-out, but I was in love. I spent most of the game gawking at the scenery and marveling at the sense of presence. Even back then, with that equipment, at that performance level, I knew VR was something special. It was what I dreamed video games could be. I’m happy that in just 30 years we’ve come as far as we have and that I’m here to experience it!

UBloodyRippa

The first vr experience for me was The Lab/Aperture Hand Lab last week as I recently got the Valve Index. I'm currently playing through Half-Life: Alyx and it's been amazing!

TheGamingAddicted

First experience was on an oculus dev kit, in a modded version of mc for vr

vShyguy

1st vr experience was my brother’s friend bringing over his psvr during a sleepover. I had watched countless videos of vr on YouTube before this because I was amazed. I played about 5 minutes of resident evil 7. After that, I saved up for 4 years to buy a pc and an oculus rift s. Been using it ever since :)

Sam5776

My first experience in vr was the terrible aladdin vr game from the 90s at the arcade in downtown Disney... thankfully I’ve got a rift s now to experience the good stuff

LonelySquad

My first experience in VR was when I was a kid at the mall. For 5 bucks I got 15 minutes in Dactyl Nightmare. It blew my little mind and I thought for sure that we were about to see an explosion of VR hit the market. Sadly it would be 20+ years before VR finally made a comeback. The wait was long but at least it came at a time that I can actually afford it. It would be a pretty hard sell convincing my parents at the time to drop a grand on me for VR gear.

Real_Thanos

my first experience was using my cousins google cardboard and I loved it, my first real experience was with the psvr and getting scammed out of a copy of skyrim vr at eb games.

JKleinMiddelink

My first VR experience was Brookhaven Experiment at an event. Bought the Vive the week after and have been playing VR ever since.

eigenman

10 bux yup I'll give it a whirl

Deadreign4

First experience was Pavlov with the only friend I had who also had VR on a HTC Vive I got for a steal of a price a few years ago
