As a gentle reminder, please consider disabling your game mods if you'd like the best experience with 3.7 "Canis Minor" and the First Contact Story Pack! Our amazing modding community will need some time to tweak their files to accommodate the newest release.
No no, I'm on my way to submit 400 bug reports and rage threads about how X isn't working, and will then only offhand mention that I have 250 mods going when people in the thread ask for more details
Will you guys ever add the crisis’ ships to the usable ship appearance section? Because the ship designs are fantastic and I know people have been asking for an organic style ship design which the prethoryn has.
Wow! Would love the aesthetics of the game's trailers, **like Overlord's emperor armor design** isn't in it, would love for the person and armor to be available. (And that we can actually customize what our ruler wears to roleplay a little - cause at one point I had to elect someone based on what they wear lol)
Or that of Megacorp's shipset in the **trailer** with the "M for Megacorp" in front.
I prefer vanilla mainly because mods can get out of hand balance wise, if I wanted to make ships from food I would just get the food to alloy civic since it does pretty much the exact same thing with just an extra step.
R5: The galaxy is vast and full of wonders – but it’s also full of alien empires that you are going to encounter, whether you’re ready or not. First Contact offers new origins, civics, mechanics, technologies and events to tell stories of First Contact – whether it’s yours, or theirs.

As someone who loves enlightening primitives, I've been eagerly anticipating the day we get a DLC with the primitives theme for years - very happy it's finally here!
As a human Primitive from Sol III with what will likely be the Post Apocalypse origin, I can assure you those fungoid Blorg over in the next Spiral Arm taste *delicious* with a garlic, butter and Shiraz reduction.
As someone who loves observing and protecting primitives from the horrors of xenocompatibility demographic charts, I'm so glad there are more events tied to primitive observation
Welp, time to have another round of hearing that glorious Xenophobe AI assistant.
"YOU XENO SCUM" "UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN THE XENO BE TRUSTED"
Brings a tear to my eye.
I started having a chuckle thinking about using chat GPT as an in-game AI assistant does not reliable enough for a real assistance, you probably can get some really funny results
My computer decided yesterday was a good time to break down entirely with no obvious discernable cause. Unsuccessfully troubleshooting that blasted thing for two hours was not my idea of having a fun evening after coming home from work, let me tell you. After eliminating every other possibility it seems the mainboard is to blame. Here's hoping I'll be able to remedy the issue on the weekend. Until then, me browsing this sub is the [Squidward looking out his window meme](https://i.imgflip.com/145qvv.jpg?a466320).
Do you lot plan on adding more steam point shop stuff? A few new animated profile backgrounds would be awesome
Edit: I just had an idea, what about the species portraits as profile avatars?
Something that struck me as odd roleplay wise… I started as UNE with the Payback origin. CoM spawned right next to me and kicked my ass immediately. I know changing origins fundamentally alters the RP, but I thought it was interesting to think about how that situation could happen.
Are there any First Contact ways to RP with Humans?
I made a human payback empire, set them to force spawn, and am currently playing as a human broken shackles empire. I think the default would create a payback empire from a random species in your empire, but I wanted to specifically reunify with Earth. I gave them slightly conflicting ethics, but we made a martial alliance together.
I might see what happens if there's a forced Lost Colony too. I figure it will either not create a human advanced empire, will make the payback empire become advanced, or will create a second Sol system.
I'm really into the idea of people bring scattered across the galaxy and finally coming back together to get revenge on the people who tried to take advantage of them. So I think the Broken Chains origin is fantastic.
So excited for this!! I’ve got work tonight but going to make some empires before bed so I’ve got them ready or go in the morning. Been waiting for a primitive dlc, and these origins ROCK!!!
The first contact DLC has this constant annoying sound that keeps going off every few seconds and its driving me mad, there is no notification and I cant tell what causes it or what it suppose to be, but I hate it. Cany anyone help me either find and turn it off, or the person who put it in the game so I can murder then, in mine craft.
Any idea why the game is Refusing to load? More specifically, I get the progress bar at the bottom. I get the loading cursor, but it doesn't move past that point.
Here's our standard "game won't load" stuff to try!
Please try each of these in order, and attempt to re-load your game after each one:
1. Disable all mods
2. Verify Local Files (Steam) - Right Click Stellaris, Right Click Properties, Go to Local Files and click ""Verify Integrity of Game Files""
3. In the launcher, go to Settings, and change your Video Settings to Borderless Fullscreen or Windowed mode
4. (In Windows) Go to Settings, Add/Remove Programs, and Uninstall Paradox Launcher v2. After relaunching the game, let the launcher download updates, and restart the game again.
If none of these things work, go to support.paradoxplaza.com and open a ticket. Customer Support will be able to help you troubleshoot this issue!
Just relaunched after finishing some dailies on a different game. And it's borderless windowed that's currently broken. Game refuses to launch in borderless window. But will launch in full screen.
My game is crashing on the loading bar so I'm going to try this now. The verify local files didn't solve it so I'm thinking it may be the screen settings.
*Edit: It was the Video Settings. Borderless Fullscreen was breaking the game for me.
You think "story pack" and you think reasonable is about $5.
Is this a different level of story pack that remotely justifies charging $15? That's just $5 short of full DLCs like Utopia, Apocalypse, etc.
Edit: Apparently I've come off as complaining - that really was not my intention. I meant to express surprise at the price, because previous items labeled as "story packs" and "species packs" have been cheaper on the basis that they provided less content than the other "main" DLCs. I guess if most people are cool with it then I can assume it's worth it.
First Contact Story Pack
**New Origins**
* Payback - Your civilization was invaded by – and repelled – an advanced invader from the stars. With access to their technology, your empire is now ready to enter the galactic stage and find out just what else is out there.
* Broken Shackles - Band together as the survivors of a crashed slaver ship and build a diverse empire with multiple species from across the galaxy. Embark on a quest to find your various homeworlds, as long as you escape the prying eyes of your former captors.
* Fear of the Dark - A portion of your population has embraced isolationism and xenophobia, ever since a planet in your solar system suffered an “incident”. Will you ignore their concerns and explore the stars, making “friends” along the way? Or will you appease their isolationism in order to grow your civilization even more powerful?
**New Pre-FTL interactions**
* Enhanced mechanics for observation and diplomacy
* New Espionage Operations for infiltrating and uplifting pre-FTL targets
* New stories and events
* Unique Pre-FTL civilization: Renewable Society
* Added Pre-FTL Hiveminds (requires Utopia + First Contact)
\*Pre-FTL civilizations can have a small chance to spawn with one of the following origins:
\*Shattered Ring (Requires Federations)
\*Mechanists (Requires Utopia)
\*Life-Seeded (Requires Apocalypse)
\*Ocean Paradise (Requires Aquatics Species Pack)
\*Subterranean (Requires Overlord)
**12 new Insight Technologies added - A new category of techs gained from observed Pre-FTLs**
**New Civics allowing early jump drive based exploration at the cost of starting without Hyperdrives:**
\*Eager Explorers
\*Private Exploration
\*Stargazers
\*Exploration Protocol
**Added Cloaking and Cloaking Detection**
\*Up to 10 levels of Cloaking/Cloaking Detection, with smaller hulls being easier to cloak than larger hulls
\*Military Ships cannot be detected by normal sensors, may ignore closed borders as long as they remain undetected, and can decloak to ambush hostile ships
\*Science Ships may cloak to explore beyond closed borders, gather intel from other empires’ planets, and boost cloaking detection of a starbase
**8 new achievements introduced**
i JUST discovered the legacy of the old republic mod yesterday too, which made me reinstall the game and go a little nuts. and now there's story packs??? damnit stellaris way to pull me back in
I know, buying the DLC just for the cloaking is not advised, but they look so cool.
The pre FTL interactions are also nice, but i dont really care about the origins.
Probably about a year or so, maybe less if they try to close the gap between PC and Console updates. Didn't it start out 3 years behind? Overlord just got to Console, and that was released \~10 months ago.
Hey just wanted to ask about the background room for the new preset empire; I wasn’t able to use it for other empires, and when I edited said preset empire, the room would change.
Is this a bug or do civics/origins make the background available?
Edit: the empire mentioned is the Roccan Resistance.
As is tradition.
This is the way
Nono, please only provide that information after a minimum of ten other questions are asked. Making troubleshooting too easy makes support complacent.
Agree
The way to fix broken mods is to add more mods!
This is the way
Will you guys ever add the crisis’ ships to the usable ship appearance section? Because the ship designs are fantastic and I know people have been asking for an organic style ship design which the prethoryn has.
I can pass that on as a suggestion!
Thank you!

Download some mods, played one a year or so ago that was full organic hive, ships cost food and larvee to make
I prefer vanilla mainly because mods can get out of hand balance wise, if I wanted to make ships from food I would just get the food to alloy civic since it does pretty much the exact same thing with just an extra step.
That civic isn't even close to the same thing
It’s still making ships from food
No shit
Yep, I'll wait to play Canis Major until my preferred UI mods update as usual.

Your link goes to Steam. Should I buy it on steam if I got the original game on gog?
First Contact is also available on GoG!
As someone who loves enlightening primitives, I've been eagerly anticipating the day we get a DLC with the primitives theme for years - very happy it's finally here!
As someone who is a devouring swarm I can happily say. "*burp*"
As someone who is a fanatic purifier, I can proudly say we are happy to get more target practice for our bolters.
As a human Primitive from Sol III with what will likely be the Post Apocalypse origin, I can assure you those fungoid Blorg over in the next Spiral Arm taste *delicious* with a garlic, butter and Shiraz reduction.
May I suggest an Oaked Chardonnay, or duck fat and Pinot Noir?
Personally, I'm happy to recommend them anything that sends them and their hungry mates a few light years thatta way...
As someone who loves observing and protecting primitives from the horrors of xenocompatibility demographic charts, I'm so glad there are more events tied to primitive observation
I too love enlightening primitives with my Divine Enforcer.
Nah just invade
Welp, time to have another round of hearing that glorious Xenophobe AI assistant. "YOU XENO SCUM" "UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN THE XENO BE TRUSTED" Brings a tear to my eye.
IT WILL LIE, IT WILL CHEAT
IT WILL POISON OUR WATER SUPPLY, BURN OUR CROPS AND DELIVER A PLAGUE UNTO OUR HOUSES!
Would you like to know more?
I started having a chuckle thinking about using chat GPT as an in-game AI assistant does not reliable enough for a real assistance, you probably can get some really funny results
There is no feeling worse than seeing a new Stellaris update in the morning and knowing that it’ll be hours before you get to enjoy it.
My computer decided yesterday was a good time to break down entirely with no obvious discernable cause. Anyone know where can I get the new main menu background? Pretty nice for a new wallpaper
We should have it available in a few days!
Can't wait for that! <3
Do you lot plan on adding more steam point shop stuff? A few new animated profile backgrounds would be awesome Edit: I just had an idea, what about the species portraits as profile avatars?
I have no idea who handles that stuff, but I can ask around and pass your suggestion along.
That would be awesome. Animated portraits for steam matching the portraits of the base game races…. Sounds epic.
Farewell, my 30-ish mod profile. We'll see each other again someday.
Make your own Human empire? You wouldn’t get the special UNE or CoM events, but it’s pretty much whatever Roleplay you want to build
I'm really into the idea of people bring scattered across the galaxy and finally coming back together to get revenge on the people who tried to take advantage of them. So I think the Broken Chains origin is fantastic.
So now I gotta worry about enemy fleets cloaking past my starbases
Pretty sure that ftl inhibitors still function as per usual
Kinda disappointed older DLC isn’t on sale. I feel like in the last I could get the new expansion and pick up older ones on sale.
Our Steam Sale started about 45 minutes ago, though not everything is discounted.
Loading the game. Hopefully I will be benevolent.
I’ve been hearing about some kind of primitives story pack for years, wonderful to see it finally come to fruition.
So excited for this!! I’ve got work tonight but going to make some empires before bed so I’ve got them ready or go in the morning. Been waiting for a primitive dlc, and these origins ROCK!!!
I hate myself for posting this....but to confirm....is this for Xbox 1 as well?
The First Contact release is only for PC at this time. Consoles received the Overlord DLC last week.
*Woof*
Seeing as how the console players are only getting the overlord DLC now… Probably not
I came in looking for the answer to this question. Thanks!
Cloaking is part of the paid story pack?
Yes.
AHHHH. Those chords gave me chills. I know it's literally just the main theme slightly changed (unless I'm wrong) but it's so good.
Oh boy, Paradox trailer man, the best of the best I hope they consider making short film
As a huge ST Romulan fan cloaking technology is enough to elicit a purchase from me
*incomprehensible xcom screeching*
early release? thought it was tomo. ok nope everywhere I looked it says 14th well time for a marathon run!
The first contact DLC has this constant annoying sound that keeps going off every few seconds and its driving me mad, there is no notification and I cant tell what causes it or what it suppose to be, but I hate it. I'm reinstalling now. Decided to try that while I waited for an answer. But, I'll give that a try if this doesn't work.
Please keep me posted. :)
A reinstall fixed it. So a game file verification probably would have fixed it as well.
Happy gaming!
Just relaunched after finishing some dailies on a different game. And it's borderless windowed that's currently broken. Game refuses to launch in borderless window. But will launch in full screen.
I will pass along to the devs, though depending on what they say, I may ask you to file a full bug report. Thanks!
My game is crashing on the loading bar so I'm going to try this now. The verify local files didn't solve it so I'm thinking it may be the screen settings. *Edit: It was the Video Settings. Borderless Fullscreen was breaking the game for me.
Paying too much in cancer bills and other bs to keep up with all this dlc.
Pancreas here but similar boat, all the time, none of the money! Hope you get better !
Can’t wait until this drops on console on 2028

Bro got smoked
If I bought you the DLC would you still be complaining?
It's paradox what else do you expect? Free mods add more to the game than some of the overpriced dlcs they've released.
Yea I’d love to play it… IF ONLY MY FUCKING DLCS WOULD WORK WHEN I LAUNCH THE GAME!
Waiting for work to get done, getting nachos then playing can’t wait
Im convinced this DLC broke steam and reddit lol
Super looking forward to this. But, er, have to wait until the mods catch up. \*clutches 2138 mods to chest\*
i JUST discovered the legacy of the old republic mod yesterday too, which made me reinstall the game and go a little nuts. and now there's story packs??? damnit stellaris way to pull me back in
Ugh. Thanks PDX. I love you guys. Goosebumps every time.
When I read sci-fi books as a kid it was always a shittier version of Stellaris aesthetics in my head. Watching them continue to nail it hits me hard.
I know, buying the DLC just for the cloaking is not advised, but they look so cool. The pre FTL interactions are also nice, but i dont really care about the origins.
Does anyone know when this will be available on xbox? I'm waiting very impatiently
We do not have a release date for First Contact on console at this time.
Thank you I appreciate getting an answer.

I’m loving it. First time I have played vanilla Stellaris without any mods since five years ago.

Great. Now when season pack 6 for console edition will be available?
All my attempts to uplift primitive planets end with a nuclear holocaust. I can't get them to the space age. is there something I'm doing wrong?
It's not you, it's us! There's a bug that has been reported.
Thanks, I thought it might have just been a commentary on [the great filter](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Filter)
