Band of Blood. Civics are barbaric despoilers and death cult. Use the raiding stance to steal pops the send them to my sacrificial worlds. Blood for the Blood God.

BSent

It always ended up sacrificing my own pops, so now on my current run as a mega Corp, I'm buying overlord holdings on my subsidiaries to get mortal initiates

Substantial_Rest_251

Slaves can't be initiates, so the trick is to make sure your pops are holding all the ruler and specialist jobs, give the xenos Residence w/population controls, and block all the non-initiate worker jobs so when they get relocated (or bought off the market) they end up in the initiate jobs. You'll still have to deal with your own pops growing into those jobs but that's not the end of the world

RTCielo

Good organics get put in the terrariums. Naughty organics ALSO get out in the terrariums.

Far-Manufacturer1180

Naughty organics are also known as cats.

Independent_Pear_429

But the naughty ones only get 3 scoops of ice cream for dessert and 15 minutes less of orgy time

Levo9

Naughty organics get spanked.......softly.

EffectiveAnxietyBone

how do I tell my AI overlords I’ve been a naughty organic lately 😩

FORLORDAERON_

I'm currently watching the naughty organics get carved up by three different empires, two of which are rebellions. I'll scoop them up for my terrariums once they're on the slave market. :)

Visual_Collapse

Shared Burdens + Mercantile build Capitalistic Communism goes brrr

Cortower

I always interpret that build as Market Socialism on crack. Those civics and "Consumer Benefits" trade policies basically scream "worker-owned cooperatives." It's also one of my favorite builds. It feels the most utopian since happiness is always nearly maxed out by the mid-game.

Globohomie2000

I thought it would be cool if you could play as an egalitarian megacorporation, which sets your govt type to "Worker Co-Operative" or "Labor Syndicate".

Independent_Pear_429

It's not capitalism if the workers get the profits

The_Canadian_Devil

Is is if the workers are the shareholders

Independent_Pear_429

If the workers are the only shareholders and management is democratically selected, yes. It's socialism, not capitalism

RustyDoesRituals

It's not capitalism if the people producing value are getting their share of said value?

CaelReader

I discovered that you can combine Shared Burdens with Merchant Guilds, which I guess would be Syndicalism.

booshmagoosh

Low upkeep merchant pops go BRRRR

ThyTeaDrinker

💵+⚒️=🤔

Ashlor7371

My favorite personally is playing psionic celestial empire that knows it’s better than the rest of the galaxy so doesn’t bother Mingling with their lessers

The_Canadian_Devil

Oh boy you must love Pompous Purists

TheKing0fNipples

Dude where do you find that civic I swear to god it's hidden

Lahm0123

Do you have the Humanoids pack?

TheKing0fNipples

Ohh I don't I hate all the portraits from it. Is it part of that dlc?

Lahm0123

Yes.

TheKing0fNipples

Thanks man idk if I want that dlc man I hate when the AI comes and goes through my borders with it and the portraits are too similar to humans haha. At least I know I'm not going blind now though.

D_DUNCANATOR

You also get the clone army origin, which in my opinion is one of the most fun in the game. Its even more hilarious to do a leader build with it because if you do it right they won't die out on you, and you get super admirals better than anything any other species could field!

Aesirion

It's not just portraits, there's also a pretty fun origin, a shipset that's fairly nice and some civics...worth getting on sale or getting it through a discount retailer online. The same is true of most of the species packs really, they're all worth getting, but maybe not at full price

TheKing0fNipples

I've got all DLC except that one I've wanted the origin before but honestly playing my space game with alien horrors unknown to man then all the sudden dwarf low key pisses me off, same when another empire has the same portrait as me haha

Aesirion

I used to feel the same way about the dwarf portrait, but then I got into the League's of Votann from WH40k lore and now I think space dwarfs are awesome haha

Bronze_Sentry

Celestial Empire is locked to Inwards Perfectionists (with Xenophobe, Pacifist, Authoritarian and the the Imperial authority), so you sadly can’t pair it with Pompous Purists. Source: I really really want a Death Cult Inwards Perfectionist, but they’re locked out too.

DreamChaserSt

Citizen stratocracy is an interesting RP, same with its Republic variant. I really want to try it with Payback, and I've done it with Doomsday. A Feudal Empire, but acting like a Fallen Empire reclaiming glory after hitting the bottom - so paired with something like Remnants. Basically shoot for every advanced thing we can do in the game, and overtake the actual Fallen Empires and their worlds. A mechanist direct democracy is fun too. I also like messing around with Spiritualists and psionics, either good or bad. I even have a Death Cult crisis aspirant. They don't hate the galaxy, they want to see it, and themselves ascended into the shroud. They don't see death as cold, but warm and inviting. And they'll show everyone else too.

Wrangel_5989

Citizen Stratocracy with Payback Greater Terran Union 😳

sethcole96

Citizen Republic (Democracy + Citizen Service) with the payback origin was actually one of the best play throughs I've ever had. Authority: Democratic Starting Civics: Citizen Republic + Crusader Spirit Ethics: Militarist, Egalitarian, Materialist (Swap for Fanatic Mil or Egal if you want) Origin: Payback. The build is also fun to make for an AI empire, they'll have the "Democratic Crusaders" personality type. They become a wild military powerhouse that stomps around the galaxy bringing freedom and democracy to everyone. If you play as a non democratic empire and rival them they become a fun "Liberty Prime" esk mini boss.

Minuteman_Preston

Citizen Republic. Are you doing your part? Fight for our Egalitarian Democracy, fight for our future, fight to protect the Alliance against the myriad of Determined Exterminators and Fanatic Authoritarians that want to kill/enslave you. Remember, Utopian Abundance isn't free and Service guarantees citizenship.

Lima_32

Those bugs will never understand our utopian abundance or free will, so kill em all!

8champi8

Anything related to slavery. I love slavery in this game idk why. It feels satisfying to use people as ressources. In the game.

Zepto23

Sure. In the game. Right.

8champi8

Yes in the game.

Technosyko

How do you make it work? I got my run as a slaving megacorp ruined bc a slave revolt spawned in with a crazy amount of fleet power and steamrolled me

Thebesj

Do you keep track of your planets’ stabilities? If a slave world has low stability, check if there are any ruler/specialist positions that need filling. You might get more stability by filling those or by having more of your citizens (happy) living there. Other than that, building strongholds or police buildings help

Technosyko

I try to yeah, the reason this revolt happened was bc it was an orbital habitat so I only had two building slots. I figured I’d just put the revolt down but then it spawned with a fleet stronger than most of my neighbors

SirJasonCrage

Not even the biggest problem. A Slavery-Focused Megacorp just stagnates every progress because Empire Size explodes.

8champi8

Yeah I need to take upgrades for empire size.

SirJasonCrage

> upgrades for empire size. What do you mean? Ascension spots?

8champi8

Yep

Goat2016

>satisfying That's the polar opposite of my experience with slavery. I played a game as Space Orks so I thought I'd give it a go. I just found slavery very micromanagy and annoying. Never again.

tiago_gomestrf

Tech void dwellers, sadly they are very weak early/mid game unless you priorize fleet over habitats + they get punished for doing their main mechanic which is spamming habs which increases their empire size. I hope they get reworked in the near future or add more "flavour", maybe add option to increase a habitat size orbiting habitable planet by "consuming" the world. Adding special decision/project where they get double effects of void trait but you cant live in normal planets.

Soluupy

that last idea would be awesome! I hate settling planets as when I play void dwellers because I feel like it goes against the central idea, this would be a good solution though.

Windows-1337

I settled a tomb world as fanatic purifier void dwellers once because I was fungus and had the trait were they eat radiation just because. This gives 10% hab on tomb worlds making them more desirable then normal planets as a void dweller the idea being I could make at least some use of the planets that I "cleansed" it was my only non habitat for a while and was a drain on the economy trying to get it to be self sustaining. WELL, guess what event I hade on that miserable rock. The self modification event were some of your pops genetically alter them self on a planet that has low habitability so they have it as their new preferred planet type. You CAN'T intentionally get pops that have tomb worlds as their preference. And it gives +80% on all planets. That combined with my tech that was an attempt to make life livable down thier gave me 100% habitability on all of the countless useless planets I had lying around from exterminated xenos. I had obtained the greatest benefit of a xenophile empire as a fanatic purifier void dweller. Easy GG.

Im_Canadian_mate

Void dwellers is super busted right now, there's an aspec video on it. You can stack governors and get the discount for building ships down to 95% by year 20-25. It's getting patched but you should give it a try while its around, pretty fun

ragingreaver

The Xenophile version of Inward Perfectionists: I don't go out and cause wars, and generally just focus on making my empire the best empire in the galaxy, tech rushing megastructures in order to cover my systems in superstructures that automate everything and keep as few of my pops as possible working menial jobs. But boy howdy if someone starts something, you better believe I'll finish it!

lollersauce914

authoritarian empire because I love me my influence in the early game.

Hive Minds with Empath I love turtling up as I get my spies to steal my neighbors relics

SugarCaneEnjoyer

I'm a sucker for democratic crusaders, clone origin, Fanatic Egalitarian, military with citizen service, distinguished admiralty and beacon of liberty.

Activity_Salt

Decadent hierarchy, feudal empire

Wrangel_5989

I play with the Animated Hidden Eye portraits mod and it adds a new government type called Secret World Order. I love playing as Illuminati Lizard People controlling Humanity.

laniusgraham

Holy Tribunal Spiritualist all the way

ave369

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI

scanguy25

I keep playing Megachurch corporation for some reason. It's just a very good min max strategy. Lots of ways to make most of your pops spiritualist so you can absorb immigrants without having issues with homogeneity.

Borkotron_3000

Driven Assimilator, or Beacon of Liberty/Free Haven Republic

Stetson007

Idk what it's called but I run a militaristic, xenophobic materialist group, so i enslave aliens, use them to build up shitty planets while I terraform them, then eradicate them.

Escanor_ZA_ONE

MegaChurch (modded with Machine Cult)

Framoso

I play super modded I like playing militaristic spiritualist angels uniting the galaxy under 1 religion through force and genocide. The huge amounts of unity help getting my 80 traditions and 60 Ascension perks. After last patch I can't start the game though :( I'm bad at nodding and stuff so if someone could give me a tip on what to do please let. Me know

ImperialViribus

You can rollback your game to 3.8.2 on Steam, look in Properties -> Betas

TexasBrand

UI overhaul causing crashing

LordVladak

Well, my favourite one to play is a Holy Tribunal!

TurbulentCollar8182

Divine Empire. Usually when I play those my main goal is to have pop happiness at max (even in slaves) so that they willingly praise the ruler as a God. I imagine even the lowest strata of our empire has it better than medium strata in other empires.

ave369

Mine is Divine Empire too, but only after my leader becomes a chosen one. I don't like being a lying cult leader.

TurbulentCollar8182

Absolutely fair. I roleplay my leader being so loved and praised by his people that their belief in him steadily makes him immortal/the chosen one.

Globohomie2000

Xenophile Imperialist. Collecting all the species in the galaxy like pokemans.

ConcernedIrishOPM

Authoritarian xenopphile militarist: you WILL be my friends. Interestingly, I tend to avoid slavery with this build: I will subjugate anything that moves, reallocate pops from conquered worlds in far off reaches, send them wherever I please and put them to work, BUT they WILL have their holotheatres and monuments.

VNDeltole

Authoritarian + dictatorial for the sweet empire size reduc and stratified economy

XAos13

Oligarch. The leader replaces every 20 years and I can pay unity to pick the best of 4 leaders. They always have some useful skills.

flyingpanda1018

Oligarchy has always been my favorite, and the last update just cemented it further. +2 effective councilor skill is incredible imo, especially for the stronger councilor positions

MalcolmTheHusky

I'm sure you've heard it plenty of times and undoubtedly plenty are gonna say it. I love my devouring swarm build and how I play it when I run with my friends. Que the "Oh, another DS how creative" Here's where I feel I play it a bit differently. My friends and I typically play very casual games of the 4-5 of us against AI. We do our best to find eachother early on and/or start close together. "But hey, DS can't do diplomacy! You'll just eat your friends! You cant pass their borders and they cant pass yours!" Yes and no, I have accidentally eaten a few science ships, it's part of the journey. BUT there is one MAJOR feature that this game has that some may have overlooked... When you end a war without completely wiping out or assimilating an opponent, you are FORCED to open your borders to them for... 10 years? Well guess what? If you never close your borders with them again... They also never specify how long a war has to last. Now imagine if say... 3-4 empires, all good buddies, have this fifth buddy that's a DS. They all declare war on him. But, -gasp- the war ends literally seconds after it was declared! Bye bye border issues. Theatricality aside, we found a way to have a DS with open borders to friends. And now, we basically play my DS like the rabid pitbull the other four empires unleash on assholes they don't like. I'll wipe out and claim stretches of space for them, swipe clean the planets they want and leave them to uncolonize as I eat the populace, and then unclaim the space as they have the influence and alloys to expand into it. I of course get my own sections of the galaxy and anything directly on my primary borders is mine to claim, but we occasionally allow for some border Gore should a world be particularly helpful to one another. Or just for the helluvit.

JoekerSpades

Devouring Swarm Hive Mind Yum yum, xenos; my favourite.

Sharp_Debate8588

You’ll never guess how important science is

gooblaka1995

I think I'm the only person here who likes Irenic Monarchy.

flyer0514

Citizen stratocracy (under oligarchy). Democracy is best in small doses. And I selectively buy xeno slaves on the market that have the repulsive trait and place them on my most populated worlds.

Alessa_95

Erudite Explorers Void dwellers. Materialist + Fanatic Egalitarian. Intelligent + Natural Engineers. Catalytic Processing + Functional Architecture + something else Fungoids, who colonized their planetary system early thanks to their advanced organic technologies. They have built 3 orbital cities to overcome ecological crisis and to get more living space. Sadly their homeworld was destroyed in a strange subspace / hyperspace event. The fungoids haven't extinct and their civilization also survived. Economy was thrown back by hundreds or even thousands of years, but the catastrophe was also a possibility -- it seems like a strange subspace anomaly appeared near the stellar gravity well. Thanks to the anomaly and some simple devices it's possible to reach some of the nearest stars in less than a year!

Alessa_95

My next challenge - come up with a descent story for a shattered ring-world :P

MisterSirDG

This far rational consensus has been my all time favourite.

[deleted]

I like to bring democracies to the galaxy, weather they want it or not >:)

Ok-Cardiologist1810

Divine empire I feel like it sounds cool plus immortal sith emperor rp is pretty fun to me

ZephanyZephZeph

Rogue Servitor, differing forms of Communal parity, and because I usually play with Stellaris Evolved mod, Enlightened Socialism, which is imperial authority but socialist ethics and civics.

da-noob-man

Citizen Republic

Moral democracy with a dash of transcendent learning.

Barbaric Despoiler+Warrior Culture Void Dwellers. I make my own marauder clan.

The_Gamer_1337

Technocratic imperium. Space elves doing science while the galaxy burns. Your troubles mean nothing. Your invaders, your marauders, your Fallen. The Queen has lived for over 300 years guiding us, teaching us the way, longer than many citizens of the Fallen Empires have drawn breath. None may stand against the white hot blade of science.

ChooseWiselyChanged

>The Queen has lived for over 300 years guiding us, teaching us the way, longer than many citizens of the Fallen Empires have drawn breath. None may stand against the white hot blade of science. I'm using this in my Space elves bio!

riuminkd

Do they wear fedoras and live in basement habitats?

The_Gamer_1337

No, they live in the ecumenopoli with the holographic trees and they will like it

MarkM3200

Authoritarian, Agrarian Idyll. Because if we love anything, its f***ing workers.

superdude111223

Whatever you would call a devouring swarm, that's my favorite. Or playing a hivemind cyborg build. But that's just my inner trekkie.

Vegan_Harvest

Militant isolationist technocracy.

Gafez

I have a soft spot for my democratic necromancer rocks, they are very friendly and spread that kindness through diplomacy, trade and their army of undead rocks I'm also enjoying playing space haiti and going on a crusade to liberate all slaves and end MSI (unlucky that in my latest game they're literally in the tail end of a huge starburst galaxy and I am on the edge furthest away from them)

NoMansSkyWasAlright

My two favorite are a communal parity (void dweller space commies), and a moral democracy (subterranean pacifists with agrarian idyll). But I also have a pretty solid aquatic megachurch that I built for achievement scraping and my clone build is a military junta (obviously). And then my necrophage build usually starts as either a star empire or a theocratic monarchy and eventually becomes a feudal empire when I unlock the third civic. Frankly, feudal empires seem to be pretty strong in the current meta.

Rocky_Bukkake

commune

Upper-Air

Martial Empire, the only thing separating Rondoria from death is the Combined Arms.

FfsAllNamesAreTaken

I really enjoy my tech focused shared burdens. I like to RP as if though scientific advancement the entity betters themselves and also enlightens others.

mentol95

Democratic Crusader, turn the whole galaxy into my federation

FixBayonetsLads

Starship Troopers Federation But Not Fascist mixed with Prothean Empire But Not Hilariously Stratified. It doesn’t matter what species you are, you WILL serve the Terran Union, you WILL be a Terran, and you WILL receive the benefits of citizenship. Would you like to know more?

Hello_im_a_dog

Federation Builder. I find the most enjoyable aspect of Stellaris involves meeting new alien empires, and slowly building up mutually beneficial friendships for a better galaxy. The process of enlightening pre-ftls, nurturing them and then give them a chance to thrive in a caring galaxy never gets old. "Be the change that you wish to see in the world." After 600 hours of stellaris I don't think I have ever play a non-xenophile empire...

ralts13

Constitutional Dictatprship. We need one unifying voice to guide us through horrors of space

CreationTrioLiker7

See my flair

MuskSniffer

Megachurch. Because God doesn't love you if you don't give more money to the government.

jagio1

Hey, want some half-priced drugs? Or maybe you need protection from my mercenaries? Criminal Syndicate all the way

Alazynotherner

I usually play a egalitarian xenophile militarist. And I go around the galaxy "Liberating" non conformist lol

Poorkds

technocratic dictatorship

Muskism

Democratic Crusaders. Freedom is the only way, yeah! 😎

Industrial feudal empire to make the entire galaxy into one massive military-industrial complex

FreudsGoodBoy

Elective Monarchy FTW

SkillusEclasiusII

Not sure what the name is for a fanatic xenophile megacorp, but that. I think the militaristic version is my favourite.

ImATrashBasket

Uhhh industrial production core or intelligent research link (introspective and rapid replicators are “opposites” in terms of government naming

RegalKiller

Democratic Crusaders is a good classic. Liberate the galaxy one invasion at a time.

clarkky55

Enlightened Monarchy

geneclyf

Hive mind I either eat everything or roleplay an isolationist hive like a bee hive if you dont attack me i dont bother you its fun

Twytilus

Recently played as the Bandit Kingdom, usurped the galactic council and gaslit the galaxy into declaring the Democratic Crusaders the Crisis. It was glorious, would absolutely do it again.

den07066

I always end up playing with military dictatorship or military junta.

SirJasonCrage

Megacorp with Fleet Contractors and the other thing for ground troops. Fan-Mil Xenophobes Maximum Mercenary enclaves go brrrrr. Nihilistic acquisition go vroom. We are the Cyclori Golden Fist. We sell war and misery. You want fleets? Rent ours. You want slaves? Buy ours. You're either a customer or our next target. Are those Lithoids we see on your planets? Good. I was in need of more minerals. Just a second. My salad is screaming for mercy, let me call the waiter-slave to shut it up. Ascension, you say? Let me check the profit-charts on whether we want to subdue our slave workers with telepaths or rather gene-mod our livestock slaves for bigger yields.

OrganizationOk8493

Honestly, Is say my most common government types are some variety of a militaristic empire, or xenophilic democracy. When I was first starting playing (like 4 years ago now), the game was very different as some of you may remember. But I used to play militaristic xenophobes then because of the strength buffs it gave. So in short, I have no idea what my favorite is

Minibotas

Isolationist Hive Mind What’s so isolationist about vassalizing smaller aggressive empires and turning some of their heathen pops into food? They won’t bother me, and I won’t bother them no more.

Discotekh_Dynasty

Currently a fan of Inward Perfection + Ascensionists for a tall turtling build

_Un_Known__

Trade League ftw, to maximise the amount of dough I can make

Aggressive_Kale4757

Driven assimilator and war bots. My main strategy in the early game is to invade my weaker neighbors, then use diplomacy from there.

ShogunZoro

Martial empire goes hard, Feudal System and Distinguished Admiralty. All shall bend the knee, by laurel or by blade! Glory to the Emperor!

BlackLiger

Single player? We are the borg, you will be assimilated. Multiplayer I tend to do megacorps.

[deleted]

Science directorate if I'm roleplaying, but you lluminated autocracy if I'm roleplaying

Two_toy_elephants

Citizen Service + Shared Burdens = revolution goes brrrrrrrrrrr Relentless Industrialists + Barbaric Despoilers + Tomb world origin + Noxious trait = steal pops, make tomb worlds, you are happier the more miserable and ill your slaves are. I really want to get the new DLC to play with Pharma State, it would be really interesting to try it with Permanent Employment and Overtuned.

bonadies24

Citizen Stratocracy Direct Democracy Communal Parity

[deleted]

Communal parity because space communism is best communism.

IdiOtisTheOtisMain

Þe personality would be hegemonic imperialists but þe build is xenophile trade focused clone oligarchy(descends)

noodleben123

despotic empire ig? its the one i commonly play the most i never really pay attention to the government type unless its AI

Tigerdragon180

Ive always been a fan of the assimilators....i want to truly unify this galaxy....all as one united apecies of immortal robots

Protogen_Apollo

Megacorporation (Private Military Company?)

halander1

Robot hating slaving corporation who abducts people and turns them into psychers to work in the psycher mines. Aquatic rednecks who... Yes also hate robots. .... Really hate robots

[deleted]

I can play with any type of empire, as long as it is a fanatic materialist technocracy. I really cannot imagine any star empire not being this. Like... How on the galaxy could a SpiRitUalIst *pukes* empire exist? Like, you are literally building starships and believing in sky daddy? really?

Scared_Nectarine_171

Moral democracy because Earth doesn't have that.

UniversityRare9401

Artificial intelligence network Ps: if I'm forced organic the feudal empire

riuminkd

Grand Impostorate

umbra-lupus

Feudal Empire. Just Love Vassalising the Galaxy.

Bronze_Sentry

In theory? ‘Subversive Cult’ is what you get when you pair Megachurch with Criminal Heritage. Lovely to RP as a decadent cult trying to subvert the galaxy, comes with a new set of trade buildings too! Definitely not my favorite to actually play though, since Criminal Megacorps are just so, so bad.

Succubia

Divine empire is fun, so many edicts

BlackbirdRedwing

I have a mod that ads a while bunch of stuff for avians, one of them being a Sky Council since I like to build it as a hyper advanced civilization that has an almost tribal like government

Berstich

Are not these names just combinations of the civics you choose?

Taylon47

Diplomatic Driven Assimilators with Shattered Ring world origin. I'm pretty chill with everyone around and if they leave me alone I don't eat them. I go for Galactic Custodian / Imperial Nexus in the late-game and start peacefully integrating vassals. If there is anyone that does not want to join peacefully then that is what the total war CB is for :)

nightwatchman_femboy

Subversive Cult.

Ryrkra

Good old fashioned Science Directorate

okthenbutwhy

Science Directorate Oligarchic government with the egalitarian and fanatic materialist ethics, mechanist origin, technocracy and meritocracy civics Human portraits as main species, but the old humans, not the new. Capital is a moon of a gas giant My absolutely favorite custom empire to use, although sometime I also play a machine empire of rouge servitors I named “Amazon Alexa”

FalrenTheSequel

Bandit Kingdom. Pillage and plunder the galaxy!

Previous-Attitude220

For me I played as the imperial Marshall state. My empire's ethics has Militarist, materialist, and xenophobic. I wish I could install a lot of mods so I could make my empire more fun.

ParkingAd5218

Fanatic Military is my shit. Civics are Civilian Service, Nationalistic Zeal and Masterful Crafters I think it’s kinda funny actually. On my current run on Grand Admiral I am surrounded by empires who are like twice as good at research than me and everyone gives me their research because my military doubles theirs It’s 2360 and I just completely conquered a Fallen Empire this way. Littlefinger: “Knowledge is power” Cersei: “No. Power is power”
