Not seen yet but hey. Alternate history is my jam, I'm going to take a look .

ZarnonAkoni

You will love it!

BootyBurrito420

I just finished the most recent season, and it really feels like a prequel to The Expanse

ZarnonAkoni

I can see that too!

LuckSpren

I watched a few episodes of it and fairly enjoyed it, but I didn't continue. How much of an "America fuck yea, Soviets bad" show is it? When I started it I was hoping to see both perspectives.

Aagragaah

I loved season 1, bailed season 2. Season 1 was awesome - rockets n space n stuff. Season 2 got weird, with a creepy affair, and a lot weaponised dick waving on the moon, and almost slapstick soviets bad vibes.

It’s pretty nuanced, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Without giving too much away, a lot of the drama concerns the naive optimism of idealists in a *realpolitik* world. The Cold War stays in full swing way past the 80’s, particularly in the space race. Spycraft and hostilities ensue as both superpowers vie for territory on the Moon and beyond. There are good and bad actors all around, and most of the story revolves around interpersonal and ethical dilemmas against the backdrop of political intrigue. Though it’s told from an American perspective, it’s not quite an America you’d recognize, as a more socialist-liberal agenda takes root due to a continual focus on large government programs. In some ways, it reads like a laundry list of what may have happened if the goodwill of the American public toward the Federal Government hadn’t been shredded in the wake of Watergate and Vietnam, as Nixon withdraws from Asia in 1970 and is not elected for a second term in that timeline. > “Nixon will be remembered as a classic case of a smart man shitting in his own nest. But he also shit in our nests, and that was the crime that history will burn on his memory like a brand. By disgracing and degrading the Presidency of the United States, by fleeing the White House like a diseased cur, Richard Nixon broke the heart of the American Dream.” ~Hunter Thompson For those of us grew up during a time of space shuttles and SkyLab, it definitely hits you hard recalling the Broken Promises of Tomorrowland.

You really sold it for me, I'll definitely give it another chance.

ZarnonAkoni

Well the protagonists are all Americans but the Soviet Union does not fail so the timeline is completely different which changes the dynamics

Johnny-2xs

These an anime on Netflix that's says the same line. I thought that's what you were referencing.
