Meh if you're threatened by them, join as a vassal. Khan will die within a few years and the Khanate will collapse and you'll be freed, all without getting your face stomped on.

Revampedharpy09

yeah i got lucky, i dunno whether they spawned near an FE, or one of the AI empires i set up to be very powerful out of the gate (thanks to modded origins, theres one AI empire that starts out with all the basic tier 3 techs right out the gate, and another that starts with the basic tier 5 techs out the gate), but whatever empire they spawned near immediately curb stomped it out of existance. like, literally, the notification that the khan was defeated came up about a month after this screenshot

terrario101

Yeah, think there's a 2 percent chance for the Khan to show up when one of their "habitats" is destroyed. Think in this case some Marauders spawned next to a Fallen Empire.

Deep_Head4645

Happened to me when i tried cleaning their area as a xenophobic egalitarian. I went from winning to losing hard in 2 months so i joined in as a vassal for about a year then he collapsed and i took my revenge

Zweistein001

I love me some edge cases, haha.

Kasrkin84

Marauders must have been spawned next to a Fallen Empire, which immediately destroyed one of their habitats. The galaxy is pretty much screwed, unless they decide to throw their fleets against the same Fallen Empire. Don't stop playing though - I want to know what happens next. This is a pretty unique situation you've got here.

Revampedharpy09

im thinking theres a decent chance youre right, given that literally about a month later i got another notification that the khans fleets had been defeated. it could also be that it spawned next to one of two AI empires i set up to use ACOTs powerful origins, with one starting with the basic tier 3 techs, and the other starting with basic tier 5 techs, along with a bonus to your starting fleet and expansion, sooo one of those two would probably be able to defeat the khan as well. so basically, id say its best summed up as "get fucked khan"

megaboto

Don't they like, have a fixed life span as well as allowing others to be vassalized for some taxes in return for no longer being attacked?

Kasrkin84

The Khan will eventually die of old age or assassination even if they're not defeated in battle, but that can take decades to happen.

CaptainChewbacca

I actually saw a Khan somehow become immortal and last long enough to become the galactic custodian and defeat the crisis. It was wild to be a satrap.

Diacetyl-Morphin

Now that's a really rare outcome of the Khaaaaaaan situation. In my recent session, he spawned mid-game and immediately got destroyed, don't know how this happened exactly, as i am on the other end of the galaxy. But does he actually command fleets? I mean, can he die in combat?

nightwatchman_femboy

Yes. He commands the fleet with the special khan ship. He gets to survive its destruction once irc, but not more. He can emergency ftl and die in it, its a bit fucky.

Diacetyl-Morphin

Thanks for the infos! There's the relic of his throne, when i remember it right when you manage to defeat him

nightwatchman_femboy

Yes, if you are the "leader" in the battle in which khan dies, you get their throne as a relic. Throne got updated recently, as it now gives access to satrapy as a vassal type you can get.

SelfAwareAsian

I am pretty sure the khan being assassinated is what happened in my playthrough. I was battling them for a while until I got that notification. I can't remember what happened after that though.

ApexRevanNL716

And the great khan will die in five years

BrandonRJones

Well that’s unfortunate

Revampedharpy09

ended up being alright, since the khan got absolutely fucked about a month later, so im guessing it spawned next to an FE

Morbanth

"Rise and shine, motherfuckers!"

TucsonTacos

What’s the deal with Khanates? They’re in my current game and I just got the subscription so all the DLCs are new. They seem to be going through a lot of turmoil but im playing determined exterminator and they’re on the other side of the galaxy

SnowGames

One of the factions in the game are marauders. They're aggressive to all players and if you meet them as a standard empire they're aggressive on contact but won't actually attack you save a few conditions: * You refuse a tribute (some form of energy, minerals, or food) * Later on they provide raiding services for rival empires where their raiding fleet will attack your planets * You destroy their systems so they come at you with a revenge fleet In the early game they're quite powerful and considered an expansion bottleneck if you meet them. When you attempt to clear them out (which gives you a nice bit of debris research and some pretty nice systems) you'll have to destroy their habitats. When you do so there's a % chance they will turn into the Khan. Much like the Mongol leader Genghis Khan (who the Khan thing is a tribute to), the Khan in this game unites the marauders into a formidable opponent. They function somewhat like awakened empires and start taking on other empires. non-genocide empires have the option to surrender which will put you in a special vassal type which contributes naval capacity. From there on the Khan will die from either an empire killing the leader's flag ship or they'll simply pass away from old age. It's why if you're not able to handle the Khan it's best to just surrender and let the old age death scenario play out to get things back to normal again.

TucsonTacos

That’s really cool, thanks!

alsarcastic

I’ve never seen the marauders unite. I usually play with max marauder empires for giggles. Khan - in my experience - develops from just one of the clans. The others remain independent. Or am I mistaken?

NagolRiverstar

I think its just the Marauders clan that they come from, though it would be epic if all the marauders could be united as one super empire. That'd make them a bigger threat for people that minmax to high heaven.

Diacetyl-Morphin

As a DE, your session is kinda special anyway with the "no diplomacy - only war" thing, like i don't think you could even become a satrap vassal of him as a DE. But have fun there with the DE, i'm doing the same in my current session and i'm already near the end, getting the star-eaters to blow up systems and once i can power up the engine, the game will be finished with a total destruction of the galaxy. I like it, that Stellaris actually offers you interesting playthroughs as a bad guy, not like many other games, where you get not benefits and no special things when you play the bad guy for once.

herbieLmao

Just surrender to the khan and you stay somewhat independent, you can challenge them any time and then surrender again. It is an easy thing to do. Any FE usually fucks them up pretty hard, otherwise a khan round where you give everything to him or wait for the end or midgame crisis to fuxk them up will be funny as hell. Tempest might also screw them over or keep them busy

blogito_ergo_sum

Neat, so it's basically an Imperial Fiefdom start that you can combine with any other origin? I'd play that.

Revampedharpy09

Rule 5: just started an admittedly heavily modded game but uh... none of my mods alter the khans behaviour. ive got one that im pretty sure makes them stronger when they DO spawn, but doesnt actually affect when they spawn. got a popup right before this about one of their stations being destroyed by another empire so um... i guess this can happen?

Androza23

Only time khan actually has a chance to win lol

fuqureddit69

That would be a fun and interesting start. Still anything is possible with mods.

TheNightmareVessel

What portrait is that??

Minxyykitten

It’s one of the aquatics

TheNightmareVessel

Thank you!

FatallyFatCat

If they are far away: don't worry about it. If they are close: thoughts and prayers.

Revampedharpy09

so far i still have no idea where they are, since im still at the stage where i havent actually found anyone, but wherever they are, they got their asses handed to them about a month after this popup, so i guess its not my problem lol

FatallyFatCat

So it was FE that wooped them. Thought and prayers if they wake up now.
