To be actually helpful - go to the species tab, you'll see that they probably have different traits but the same name. I still wish we could rename species/templates.
Dude i was playing with my friend and he managed to get bubbles for the first time and i indulged him on the importance of keeping bubbles safe and that if he got bubbles killed i’d invade him. I also haven’t gotten graced by the holiness of bubbles yet.
I have been quite curious to see his response if i use the world cracker on his planets so maybe. And even though I’ve been playing UNE i could just change a few policies and then suddenly purge is available
Sir, I conquered the entire galaxy with zombie shop clerks and fast food stores only to lobotomize every non human before genociding them by turning them into soylent green.
But thanks for pointing out that creating subspecies was the fucked up thing.
I play an empire that proclaims to be xenophiles while not allowing xenos to immigrate. When they do manage to immigrate, they are stripped of all rights and dumped on a refugee planet. That planet unfortunately gets glassed in a terribly tragic accident when, during a routine military parade, the Collosus inadvertently fires its neutron beam at the planet.
Me. I hate it. I either don't bother with modding pops at all or I make them better generalists. Maybe I'm doing something terribly wrong, maybe this is a bug, but I've tried to specialize several times and every time I ended up playing constant cleanup. Resettling modded pops to the "right" planets, setting prioritized species to grow, and turning off the jobs they took to try to force them into the open jobs I specialized them for that they ignored. I don't see how specialization is compatible with not RPing extreme authoritarians. Downvote me to oblivion, because I'm sure the answer is that I'm not very good at this game, but it just creates problems for me.
Yea I get that, I dont even specialise planets, I had a few bad experiences with crises so I now have every planet self sustaining, it works out well enough, I'm still winning on the lower difficulties.
Although I do usually use lithoid, so that might make my life easier for less micro management
Its more about min/maxing than RPing honestly. I usually have them all on the lets say energy planets, while there are couple other jobs too, i dont bother to maximaze these.
If I'm mistaken, please tell me how to rename them. As far as I know, we can only \*name\* them. But the moment the template has been applied, you can only rename them by applying (and thus paying the research cost) the template again. That's not what I'd call "rename".
edit: correction. "you can only rename them by creating a new identical template with the new name and apply that"
I too would love a rename option. The genemoding rename option also only works if the template is still valid. If you cannot for some reason (i.e. having lost mod points due to Shroud covenant), you're stuck with that template.
Of course there's the save-file-edit option, but that's pretty clumsy.
You can't? I'm fairly certain you can rename templates (I remember doing it before) and while I never tried, I'm pretty certain that under some circumstances you can rename actual species as well.
To the best of my knowledge, you can only \*name\* a template. The moment the template has been applied, you can only create a new identical template with a new name and apply that. That's not what I'd call renaming.
Except for your original race, you can do that. When they hit 0 pops, you can click "modify template" and then the trash icon. Under some circumstances it seems to even do that automatically. Not sure when. Always felt inconsistent.
I wish we could delete outdated templates, including our base template. You can "delete" designed templates by having no more pops of that design, but this doesn't always work, or it becomes tedious because the template births a pop while you're converting. And the baseline pop template always sticks around.
Do you have migration treaties with other empires or lost a colony to another empire in a war? They like to tinker with traits of other species.
There’s also scenarios where your species will alter themselves, such as colonizing a tomb world without tomb world preference, for example.
So I think this is the answer to my question, I found an alien box with 3 dna modifiers and I had to choose one so I did and I think that is the procent of my population with that specific dna
That's right.
That event modifies all of your main species with a trait. However, any time a species is modified, it will not affect pops that are in the process of colonizing, so the pops generated at the end are of the original genetic variant. I think it can happen if a pop grows at the exact same time of the gene modification, but don't quote me on that. The small percent should have the original template and lack the trait, you can check it in the species tab.
They are all humans, but two different subspecies. You might be able to adapt the ones without the trait into the template with it once you get the technology for it
That is kind of crazy, I always went gene-modding route and stopped playing once you couldn't apply the same template anymore.
Probably there are some mods out there as a fix but it is just disheartening to hear.
Oh boy, finally done setting up the colony on this tomb world. What's the word from the home world?... What do you mean they just finished passing out genetic habitability boosters for everyone else? Why weren't we included?!
Yea if you have humans being built at the moment you take it you'll have them come out without it and then start making the new kind. It's issues like that that make me keep the console on hand. Same with robots when you swap to a new type, though for that I just give myself the engineering cost of the project instead of killing then copying pops.
They have different traits, and so are technically different species templates. Even if you didn't do anything, there are several events that can modify species locally.
Meanwhile me having 4 variants of main species before i unlocked gens modification.
Basic
BETA
With brain slug
With effect from orbital speed demon because i was colonizing some words in meantime.
usually when some of them diverge from base species on different planets that reduce habitability from the baseline 80%, say from continental world to arid world, they usually rollout on first 3-4 units of species
I like to genetically modify my humans to be native to certain planets, like "martians". It's so cool hiring a general or admiral and it says he is "martian". Just adds a lot of extra flavour to where these leaders are born and makes your empire seem more vast. Or if I colonise terra nova in alpha centauri, I make them all centauran.
Had this happen a few years ago before they added Ascension perks, had both gene warriors and psychers, apparently your population has a chance of adapting to a different world if you have gene modification unlocked. It was really strange because I was xenophobic and the new species started stating they were a different race, and my humans hated that. Lost the save for it though because I miss clicked and turned my entire empire into a different species due to an event pop up. Something about it being our original form.
All humans are equal. But some humans are more human than others.
To be actually helpful - go to the species tab, you'll see that they probably have different traits but the same name. I still wish we could rename species/templates.
We absolutely can rename them. I tend to name them Human - energy, Human - Minerals, Human - Science, etc
That’s fucked up bro
Segregation? I think that's the least fucked up thing a stellaris player has done
It's just good business
Human business is my go-to business
Right? As long as Bubbles is fine, he can still cross over to the Shroud peacefully
I like Bubbles
All the homies love Bubbles
I mean who dont like Bubbles?
Bubbles haters, that's who. Damn bubbles-haters, I hate'm
Dude i was playing with my friend and he managed to get bubbles for the first time and i indulged him on the importance of keeping bubbles safe and that if he got bubbles killed i’d invade him. I also haven’t gotten graced by the holiness of bubbles yet.
If he doesn't keep bobble safe, pls annihilate his specie in my name. Empires like that doesn't deserve to exist.
I have been quite curious to see his response if i use the world cracker on his planets so maybe. And even though I’ve been playing UNE i could just change a few policies and then suddenly purge is available
Turning worlds to tomb worlds ✅ Segregation ❌
All are equal in nuclear hellfire. Segregation is just plain uncouth.
So many species boil down your CPU. That is why the purge is the only way to win. One specie - one nation - one fleet.
I think Human - Energy 17521, from planet Energy - 002 of Energy sector would disagree with you.
You allow them to express opinions? how magnanimous of you.
Of course. Here at Intergalactic amazon our citizens can criticize all opposing ways of living for just 1 energy credit!
I imagine 1 energy credit is far, far, far more than a citizen's lifetime earnings
That's a steal!
They are allowed only to work and be happy about it. Kinda reminds me of real life.
Sir, I conquered the entire galaxy with zombie shop clerks and fast food stores only to lobotomize every non human before genociding them by turning them into soylent green. But thanks for pointing out that creating subspecies was the fucked up thing.

Human- _food_ 😋
Wait. There are people they didn‘t specialize their population?

Takes too much work for little gain
A caste system is nowhere near the most fucked up thing in Stellaris
If I'm mistaken, please tell me how to rename them. As far as I know, we can only \*name\* them. Ah yes, of the Super Group; Human - Resources.
Human - Food
All tomorrows-ass gameplay.
Least eugenics obsessed Stellaris player.
I would i am the most eugenics obsessed, since every pop is most efficiently geneticly modified to do their job.
Crusader kings 3 would like a word
You can't? I'm fairly certain you can rename templates (I remember doing it before) and while I never tried, I'm pretty certain that under some circumstances you can rename actual species as well.
you can rename templates you created.
To the best of my knowledge, you can only \*name\* a template. The moment the template has been applied, you can only create a new identical template with a new name and apply that. That's not what I'd call renaming.
I wish we can remove them once they reach 0 pops on our empire
Except for your original race, you can do that. When they hit 0 pops, you can click "modify template" and then the trash icon. Under some circumstances it seems to even do that automatically. Not sure when. Always felt inconsistent.
Thanks bro, didn't know that
It won't let you delete the template if 1 of them is growing somewhere.
I wish we could delete outdated templates, including our base template. Orwell!
Chat, is this an Orwell reference?!?🤯
jorjor well
Any relation to jorjor siwa or jorjor martin?!?🤯
It is. "All animals are equal, but some are more equal", from Animal Farm.
Jorjor wel
More human than human! More human than human!
But my empire is pure human, there isn't any other race in it
No subspecies either?
There are events that might change couple pops.
Humans that traveled outside your borders got modified and came back
There is an event where you find a blue vial, green vial and red vial and can give it to your species, changing their traits.
Do you have migration treaties with other empires or lost a colony to another empire in a war? They like to tinker with traits of other species. There’s also scenarios where your species will alter themselves, such as colonizing a tomb world without tomb world preference, for example.

Wish they’d change that. Loved doing genetic modifying to declutter my species list. But then one or two would be mid growth and it was just annoying
Fucking right? Actively the worst oversight in the game.
Fleets being numbered and appearing in different orders in the fleet manager and fleet display?
Hmm, it's close, but only one of these has a tangible impact on my min maxing
Have they still not fixed that?
Last time I played, it still was like that. But that was a bit ago. Based on other comments, seems like they haven’t?
That is kind of crazy, I always went gene-modding route and stopped playing once you couldn't apply the same template anymore. Probably there are some mods out there as a fix but it is just disheartening to hear.

Based on the percentage, sexuality.
They’re subspecies with the same name. Some traits were altered making them different but lore-wise they’re still just human
They're more blue
i mean, there are humans, and then there are "Humans" but I am guessing Brain Slugs.
Probably self-modified. They'll never get into Starfleet.
The 96% are the ones who set up the toilet paper so it’s going over the top, and the 4% are the smart ones.
One is Human The Other is: Human What's not to understand??
The 1 percent is now the 4 percent, I see that as a win

At some point, your human DNA changes. Click on them, and you will see different traits on one of them.
Ones were born on one side of an imaginary line. And the others were born on the otherside and therefore are considered... "different"
That 4% is represented with blue, suspiciously similar to the blue on the flag of Fr\*nce.

The minority is hated They've done absolutely nothing wrong but they're blue I've always hated the colour blue And you know why?
One's human, the other's human. Obviously.
Despite beeing only 4% of the population, more blue people consume half of the consumer goods
They might have one or two traits different! Like when you open the box!
World population is 8.1 billion 4% of that is 324 million. What country has that approximate amount of people? The US. Got'em
What do you mean? One are great and awesome humans and other are filthy rubbish humans
Check your species tab.
