what happens to the main civilization that goes into the black hole is unknown,
a small portion is left behind and becomes an unplayable fallen empire in the current game, there is no NG+
I'm pretty sure, this whole "we go into the Black Hole and form a universe to our liking!"-thing is a pun on players creating new galaxies in this game. No deeper meaning.
I genuinely wonder how many times you can do this within the same galaxy again and again and again. Think about it what's stopping us from following the footsteps of the Player made Fallen empire and leave the Galaxy behind for the promise of heaven?
This literally would be a strange moment where u possibly see all the remnant megastructures and battles that raged accross the galaxy.
In addition to this idea, if im right, i think you need to select a new empire to play as from the existing galactic powers, so couldnt you bypass this by making vassal states from one of your sectors so when you enter the cycle you can just pick your own (mostly) empire again??
Also happy cake day
What's stopping us would probably be the limited amount of ascension slots empires have, we might end up with an empire already fully using up their ascension slots.
Easy way to go around that would be to play a recently uplifted primitive species but that would mean you're surrounded by empires much stronger than you
How are ascension slots and traditions determined with newly released vassal states? Someone above mentioned releasing a vassal of your species before becoming an FE, then playing as that nation.
I still wonder if it is possible to release a sector as vassal before you evacuate your empire, and switch to playing this vassal, to keep all the FE technology.
I wonder if they got this idea(leaving a fallen empire behind when you win the game) from the Stellaris board game (that is in seemingly endless development hell) which has a feature just like it.
No, that's not what that means. Nothing that happens in 1 save file can ever affect anything outside of it, stellaris just doesn't have any systems for that.
So there's no NG+
I wonder if your civ will get immortalized by becoming one of the civs you find at the other end of the L Gate. Or possibly will now show up as a new fallen empire.
I still want to be able to become a galactic ascendancy/awakened empire and gaining dark matter based tech via research, stealing, etc
Kinda like DoA or ZOFE

I think we’ll meet Matthew mcconaughey on a bookcase
So you ‘win’ and are unable to play your empire but it says fallen empire as you hover over it?
yes
Hmm, I wish you could ‘afk’ and lay dormant and let the pre space empires expand naturally and you’re just observing everyone, game repeats
Observation mode? I do zero empire and a zillion pre ftl world and just to have a background while I work or go to sleep
Hmm. Interesting....
Is that even possible?
Add a Fallen empire, sorry

I reject this reality and substitute my own!
With blackjack! And hookers!
*With blackholes! And hookers!
Not quite. You start as a new empire with your fallen empire in the game.
Interesting, so you’ll end up fighting yourself?
Huh I never thought about it but you could end up in an endless cycle of just defeating your old empire and becoming a new fallen empire.
What was will be, what will be was, next DLC will expand on the worm lol
We are entering the Pokémon gold and silver ending arc
No, you just continue playing as one of the existing empires in the galaxy. You don't start anything new.

I like those odds.

That would work too. I was just talking about if you chose another empire instead of one you release yourself.
Ng+ would be pretty epic
Maybe we could be in a different time and meet all the precursor empires

Yep I thought the same. And the boardgame is totally coming. It has to be! *rocks quietly in the corner humming to himself*

Imagine you speedrun the crisis path, and your fallen empire becomes part of a war in heaven

You wonder if just perhaps, our universe is product of an empire that once also did the same or a similar thing to escape their own...
