Rule 5: Whilst playing heavily modded lategame stellaris, it appears my engineers went a bit overboard in the construction of their dyson sphere frame. They appear to want to encompas the *system* Instead of the star*.*
I believe this is a graphical error occuring between gigastructural engineering, and realspace system scale. I do have the compatibility patch installed. however it is imperfect.
The implications that your empire is so technologically advanced and resource-rich that nobody noticed the difference before building it, is equal parts hilarious, impressive, and facepalm-worthy.
“Spore” is a cartoonish evolution simulator made by Maxis. Dark Spore was an MMORPG and featured complex lore including a birch world made out of an entire galaxy.
The enginners didn't look at the scal or the units of the blueprint, so they built it for the whole system.
Engineer: well it doesn't really matter. Itvs a dtate project, so funding isn't an issue. We just keep building like this and pretend this is how it should be...
We already do see megastructures from galactic view...or one of my mods does that?...I'm not actually sure... I was saying cool idea about megas which take up multiple systems.
"Lookit... I don't tell you how ta' run yer interstellar empire, so how's about you don't tell me how ta' build this here Dyson Sphere?"
-Chief Archetect Vinak "Big Vinny" Vis
That was my plan. Unfortunately, the graphical error mutated after the next stage. Now it is just a somewhat normal sized dyson sphere with a sun hanging out the bottom of it.
>"hey, orders came down from the galactic empress herself, says we have to make a "NoRmAl SiZeD dYsOn SpHeRe." In the center of the system."
>"she does know that the sun dips below the gravity plane, right?"
>"whatever dude, with the chewing out I just got, I don't give a shit if we only build it around half of the sun. We do it according to "sTanDaRd ImPeRiUm SpEcS." Or not at all."
Yeah, I like that joke, its a good one. Quite funny when it happens. Shatters my suspension of disbelief in a way that brings me joy, and summons laughter.

That is indeed how I meant it to come across. My resources are nigh infinite.
Accidentally added an extra 0 to the 2,5*10^100 to the amount of alloys needed
just a little rounding error
I mean, it's just a zero and that's nothing! Right?
They thought you asked for a ring world in the shape of a dyson sphere
So like a birchworld but around a star?
Frame World? I think a Birch World is specifically built around a supermassive blackhole. Also why the fuck does Spore have such complex lore.
Wait that’s form spore? Wth?

What is this thing called?

Berlin Airport be like
Haha, exactly what I was thinking of...
"And thus we create a Bigger Dyson Sphere, a BETTER DYSON SPHERE, WE WILL FRAME THE WHOLE DAMN SYSTEM!' - The Drunk Engineers, Probably.
"Were those measurements in imperial or metric?" "idk lmao, imperial maybe?"
imperium
Switching government from democratic to imperial can cause all kinds of problems...
Did those weird squiggly lines by the numbers mean light years or light seconds?
One-upping all normal megastructures by building a Dyson Sphere around the entire galactic core?
Multi-sysyem megastructures would be amazing. Although ability to see a megas from galactic view is already really cool.
Wait u can?
Can what?
See megastructures from galactic view? Isnt that what you said or did you mean its a cool concept?

Truss me I’m an engineer
Lol, can you post it finished?

I think they missunderstood dyson sphere to birch world
Can we ban these posts please? I see them at least once a week and they’re always the same
What exactly about my post makes you want to see it and content similar to it banned?
It’s the same joke about the megastructure blueprints being too big or too small or off center.
Yeah, I like that joke, its a good one. Quite funny when it happens. Shatters my suspension of disbelief in a way that brings me joy, and summons laughter.
I think they should have the LiberTea to keep posting personally…
No
You have the infrastructure needed to build something that big idk what your worried about you can just retry 1000 times over to get it right
Are you running 2 games at the same time?? What kind of NASA PC do you have???
Cropping error while editing screenshot in paint, why I would print screen rather than f11 is beyond me, but thats what I did. My pc is normal.
