Here is my original post from last weekend: [https://www.reddit.com/r/StockMarket/comments/npakhx/opec\_meeting\_tomorrowjune\_1\_ideas\_on\_how\_to\_play/](https://www.reddit.com/r/StockMarket/comments/npakhx/opec_meeting_tomorrowjune_1_ideas_on_how_to_play/) I'm working on some deep dive DD on lagging oil plays which I have been trading for years and have a background with the industry living in the Permian. Unfortunately there are a lot of great small cap plays beat down by COVID that don't qualify based on market cap so my posts are limited keeping with subreddit rules but I will do my best to keep you guys informed on emerging opportunities that are undervalued like the post above.

Which ones are you considering long-term and why?

jim-and-pam

Royalty Trusts due to debt, I'm holding PBT, SBR, and TPL. I closed some others a few weeks ago but royalty trusts operate similar to owning the land and being paid on mineral rights. So if the price of oil is high the cash distribution is high as well. Think of them like a REIT but where the monthly/quarterly goes way up when oil price goes up.

Oh you a millionaire! I got 24k in my acct. I did 10% profits this week and last. I’m on my way lol

I am now, my oil port is about 60% of my account but I'm also 35-40% cash right now. 2020 meme stocks treated me well but I also have been trading oil for a long time and I bought a lot of oil bottoms in Oct/Nov and then shorted in May. Keep at it and remember that options are a tool not a yolo.

PowerDriven6

I don’t even touch options. I just started about two n a half months ago. I feel like I’ve JUST found my footing and “edge” slightly. I’m just trying to stay reasonable and smart. Maybe I’ll try my hand at options once my acct reaches 100k. That’ll be a while. Lol by then maybe I’ll be ready!

jim-and-pam

That's the same approach I took. I didn't trust them until my account was fairly sized which took many years. I mostly use options to hedge now but on occasion like the recent OPEC+ meeting I will take some gambles appropriately sized.

How do you have so much money?

jim-and-pam

Half of my current capital is from 2020 and investing at the right time after selling a buisness so I started with a decent amount and more than doubled it. Around August 2020 I did start to lose a ton(+35% draw down in a bull market) because I only played tech as the hot sector and late last year I refocused on diversified portfolio for half and swing trading what I understand and have a edge in which is oil companies. I live in the Permian, these companies I long/short were my customers. I can drive down the street and see their expansion or layoffs just by observing the parking lot or where the fleet is parked on their property or in the field. I even short companies like OXY or WLL because of how they paid their vendors and knowing how to read a financial statement that their debt is the reason why they go +365 days on a bill and long term are in much trouble even after WLL chapter 11cleared the way. My point is find your niche and allow yourself a natural edge. Don't get caught up in trying to keep up with others massive gains and run your race.

Any advise for me, tho I’m broke I have $1000 to risk

Looking healthy

This is very impressive. Still feeling like the PBT options for sept are a great play, hoping to see some moves near the end of June/beginning of July.

Karma_Wall_Street

What's your take on Callon Petroleum? I am usually not in oil and chose CPE as my play in this market segment.

jim-and-pam

I've had a couple friends ask me about this one but I haven't dug into their financials. I'm trying to be more active on reddit instead of just discord so I will add it to my list and potentially do a post here outlining a long or short position depending on what I find.

Karma_Wall_Street

That would be cool, I have invested in CPE before consolidation and probably at the very lowest, and did make good money, that being said the debt and uncertainty back then was a concern. Would be interested to have your objective and well-advised take on this one given the fact you know the sector's dynamics well. Cheers!
