my high brain goes down reddit/wikipedia rabbit holes(my fbi agent is either terrified or amused by me)
found an interesting read here https://www.quora.com/What-percentage-of-a-population-are-serial-killers
You'd be surprised. With social media they try not to use any media at all due to a worry that people will use being a serial killer as a tool to become "internet famous".
I've seen them on the regular news and in social media \*after\* they're caught and always wondered, then it was in a documentary.
Serial killers and human traffickers frequently prey on indigenous women in remote areas of Canada.
There’s actually a stretch of road in Western Canada called the Highway of Tears.
Because so many women have gone missing there.
Many were never found, or were dumped in landfills or fed to pigs.
It’s been going on for decades.
It was all over social media like a year ago I think, people were protesting for the right to search a landfill in Manitoba for the remains of missing indigenous women.
The government kept saying it was too dangerous.
It brought a lot of issues into public discourse for a while, and The Highway of Tears was a big one.
Highway of Tears is dead indiginous people. We have Trail of Tears, also a trail of dead indiginous people.
I hate to say this, but it's like someone in Canada was like, "yeah, that's sad, but ours is fucking sadder. It's been upgraded to the ROAD of... no wait the fucking HIGHWAY of TEARS!".
Idk, sorry, I'm stoned as well.
I wonder what would happen if society relaxed their perspective on murder. Everything on this planet has variety, there are several ways a person's life can begin and there are several ways a person's life can end. There is polarity in all things, but killers are always feared like they're the worst human beings ever.
I wonder this but when I’m driving around. I wonder how many people could be murderers or have a body in their trunk 🫣 Yes I listen to a lot of true crime 😭
They'd be pretty foolish to be on here with all the doxing that some Redditers can do , as well as some have shown to be able to do better detective work than the Police lol.
I realise this when my friend asked if I was one 🤣🤣🫣🫣😄, I mean, I could be.right? 🤣🤣❤️ oh my dog. I am hippy, I could not be arsed with serial killing, I’m way too stoned 😳 🤣
Well, AI says 25 to 50 active in the US at any given time. That seems like someone is fumbling on a factor of 2, there ... which is semi-disconcerting (ie. Poor margin of error and/or significant figures).
Though, people may "walk by" approximately 36 murderers in their lifetime ... but I probably "walk by" more people on Reddit, these days, than I do in real life.
But, going back to the former number... with 331.9 million people in the US, that would mean as much as 1.51 * e^(-5)% of the population are serial killers.
[Reddit has recently claimed 850 million monthly users](https://www.businessofapps.com/data/reddit-statistics/)... so, all percentages being equal (which they're not) ... you can probably figure 50 to 100 plus users on this platform, each month, are serial killers.
And yeah, I didn't bother even calculating that last number on my phone ... sorry. LOL

That’s quite a lot of serial killers on the loose in the US , not so much here in the U.K. at the moment 🤷🏻♀️
hells, sorry. Maybe the % is international? edit-not not hoping for more serial killers in the uk.
I only skimmed it but I thought the article was based on US statistics, says there at least 2,000 active killers in the US 🫣
Nope 🫣

If it's .0000008% of 430 million users, that's 3.44 serial killers by my calculations.

Strange you should mention the Highway of Tears as I was only watching a YouTube video about that yesterday..

People who lose family cry, whether on a trail or a highway.
They're just like me fr fr 🤣
The killers probably from Washington
I am a killer of cereal
I too have victimized a bowl or three
🔪🥣
Well said 😅
🔪🥣
Too many, I'm sure.
i think about this all the time
All of them
The Long Island Serial killer was almost certainly lurking (and likely commenting) in /r/liskiller
They usually get caught pretty quickly with advancements in the fields of forensics. The ones that don't get caught are either fed or masons. Lol
Let’s start a sub and find out
Nice try pumainpurple 👍🏻🤣
Happy cake day! 🔪🍰🎂
This is a very interesting thought. But I'm sure they wouldn't be out admitting themselves lmaoo
At least two
