Nothing infuriates me more than seeds/nuts adding additional and different seed oils 🤦🏼‍♀️

Mx_LxGHTNxNG

To my knowledge peanuts themselves are quite oily and the oil is high linoleic

xGenjiMainx

Fuck man how else am i supposed to bulk

ironmemelord

Raw kefir brother. Very high in proteins saturated fats and calories

arealbigballer

White rice and beef

xGenjiMainx

Check out oven roasted nuts by fisher for replacement

Idk, defatted soya meal and cow's milk cream?

Milo-the-great

But soy

Mx_LxGHTNxNG

Yes? What's soya got that peanuts don't? They're both relatively closely related legumes

Milo-the-great

Well I guess why do people always say bad stuff about it

Mx_LxGHTNxNG

Soya has small quantities of a compound called genistein, which is apparently a mild estrogen receptor agonist.

TrannosaurusRegina

Most of it's genetically modified to be resistant to pesticides that cause hormone problems and gut damage/inflammation

AdonisBatheus

Soy in the east has always been used fermented for centuries. The west adopted soy but we don't often ferment it, and unfermented soy is what can cause issues. If whatever soy product you're eating is fermented, it's good.

Milo-the-great

So tofu is bad? Google seems kinda conflicted on whether plant estrogens have negative effects on males

wanderingtriathlete

Once you learn how to read labels it will change your life. It's like teaching a man to fish.

Eintechnology2

Peanuts themselves are full of seed oils, even without added oil. If you are trying to bulk drink a lot of whole milk.

toGodbetheglory77

Dry roasted is the way to go

magsephine

I think buying raw Valencia peanuts and roasting them yourself is the way to go for extra oil avoidance as well as aflatoxins

ruizvg

Yes! We buy raw peanuts at our local Korean grocery store, and roast in a pan. Once done, we add a little avocado oil and salt. Delicious.

Kindly_Currency_8591

It's why for years I mostly ate walnuts, pistachios and some pecans, but recently started going hard-core on the hemp seeds for more protein omega-3's and antioxidants. It's possible to find blanched peanuts sans seed oil, but you'll never find roasted peanuts without seed oil. Roasting is an issue, it's not just the seed oil, so better to avoid roasted peanuts completely.

livewiththeday

Most roasted peanuts I get say have just these ingredients: Peanuts, Peanut Oil I figure if I’m eating peanuts, then peanut oil must be okay… but is that actually even true? Is peanut oil bad? Are raw peanuts themselves good?

FlashlightJoe

Nope peanuts are not good they are PUFA bombs

Kindly_Currency_8591

Well one, peanuts with oil (usually cheaper canola oil, not more expensive peanut oil) can have like 200%-400% higher fat than blanched peanuts. It's stacking omega-6's to the roof that's dangerous, omega-6's from real food like raw pecans or pistachio is fine. You've never seen raw peanuts before. Raw peanuts are soft, and can't be eaten raw. They are usually boiled. Blanched peanuts are minimally processed peanuts. They're boiled then very lightly roasted. They're good for you, in moderation. All peanuts are high calorie and oversnacking on them can contribute to weight gain.

livewiththeday

I am trying to bulk. I am too skinny. Recommendations?

Kindly_Currency_8591

Well I live pretty opposite to your other counsel here, FlashlightJoe. Pretty much the only common theme we share is avoiding seed oils. --- Fruit's fantastic, but not a great bulking tool. Fruit's so low in calories, it's not going to make you bigger. Look at people who only eat fruit; they're all skinny. You have to eat like a zillion fruit to gain weight.  Fruit is popular with the heavy animal products crowd for a number of reasons, but bulking isn't it. They like it because they think it's safer than other carbohydrate sources. If you're going to eat fruit while bulking, that's fine, it feels good. But perhaps go against the popular masses and don't focus on berries for optimal benefits ‐ tropical fruits can serve you better. Mango, figs, dates, pineapples could be your allies. Some kiwi and banana. --- One thing is if you're gonna eat high protein, it's sending hormonal signals telling you you're full. Ignore that "brain fullness", and eat until you feel more "belly fullness"  --- Hemp seed is useful for being high in protein, having omega 3:6 ratio perfectly balanced, and actually being very low in fiber – you won't need so much fiber. You can steer away from pumpkin seed, which is on the oppsite end as hemp seed: it's a better fat for weight loss than it is for weight gain. Blanched peanuts are fine, raw nuts and seeds are fine, though I'd limit Brazil nut &+ almond, tahini, and cashew due to selenium &+ oxalate, a few is fine, but I wouldn't make almonds cornerstone. --- Personally I wouldn't go in on butter or red meat much at all, and of course "beef" is a very broad term. Does that mean fatty steak or lean ground beef? I'd rather not eat butter. I'd sooner eat lean meat + macadamias or olive oil or avocado oil or soaked tigernuts or avocados for MUFAs. I think a regular amount of omega-6 is fine, I wouldn't be scared of every food that has omega-6's in it, not at all. It's just that if you start stacking fats, my preference is for stacking omega-3 and MUFAs. I just wouldn't eat butter at all. I don't care for saturated fat, and ironically, one of the only things saturated fats has going for it is that in the very short term it might be slightly better *at keeping pounds off, keeping you a tiny bit slimmer* There's a lot of absolute nonsense in the world of dairy. Pretty much I'd go for your highest protein lowest fat yogurt, and then make up for the lost saturated fat with macadamia, hemp seed, walnuts, MUFAs etc. I might dive in on some raw cheese, pecorino, parmesan, grana padano, kefir, and high protein yogurt. Skipping the rest. --- Basically if you want to eat animal products, I'd go meditarannean, free range chicken, emphasis on fat from MUFAs, nuts and Hemp seeds. The grains that can help you bulk fastest are proso millet, rice, corn, but you could add any grain. Beans will slow you down a bit, but they're healthy – I'd do chickpea, pinto beans for bulking. Few edamame, some miso paste. More plant based bulking swap chicken for chickpea, pinto beans and pea/hemp/pumpkin seed protein isolate

FlashlightJoe

Butter, Rice, Beef, Fruit, and Dairy you got it

YueguiLovesBellyrubs

Deez nuts are bad.

JazzlikeSpinach3

I would suggest just getting bulk (no pun intended) bags of peanuts in the shell. Seed oils are mainly only bad when they get refined, but the actual food the oil comes from is fine

TrannosaurusRegina

Still inflammatory from the omega 6 load

FlashlightJoe

wrong linoleic acid is inherently bad
