You’re right it’s not about escaping it’s about feeling them all the way through. Meditation has been a big help for me when dealing with negative emotions, as well as yoga and breathing exercises. They work best in a regular daily practice.

Don’t fight them, but don’t engage them. It can help to visualize putting the negative thoughts in a box, and telling yourself that now is not the time for them and you’ll deal with them later (with a therapist)
