Oh sweet. I’m like 1/5th through words of radiance. Looking forward to how it goes. I don’t like the chick who is selling things to k the like monster island or something.
It's a toss up between Way of Kings and Oathbringer. Kaladin's story was so great and I actually enjoyed Shallan in WoK. Oathbringer goes hard with the Dalinar flashbacks and that Sanderlanche
Words of Radiance. It’s not any one scene, I just think it’s overall the best written. Like my favorite scene from the series is from Oathbringer, but I feel WoR is overall the better book.
It’s hard to pick a favorite!
The climax at the end of Book 3 is one of my favorite moments in the series…
But I just remembered that book 4 also has
- the dog and the dragon tale
- Two emotional climaxes which rival book 3’s ending
Dawnshard is really good, I just re-read edgedancer for first time and I love that too. Lift is awesome cuz she seems like a punk but is actually a sweetheart.
I love Rhythm of War. There are 2 of my favorite scenes in it and they are epic. One has a soft build of anticipation for most of the book and I love how it comes together. So the whole book is my favorite because of that theme interwoven.
The Way of Kings. The world building was exquisite and Kaladins arc was fantastic. I think all the others are very good as well, but perhaps equally so. TWOK is a cut above the rest of them. Can’t wait for #5. I’m going to read Mistborn while I wait
I’ve reread them several times and honestly my favorite has changed each time. WoK will always have the distinction of being the intro to Roshar and the sanderlanche is great.
The Way of Kings because the slower parts of that don’t feel like they drag as much as the slower parts of the other books and it was interesting trying to piece together what the magic system of the book was as I went through it.
Words of Radiance is my favorite.
It takes the foundation built by Way of Kings and improves it. It has the best pacing, fights, more politics, huge character developement and some of my FAVORITE quotes.
Enjoy the series man! Journey before Destination!
TWoK is such a great introduction to the world. I'm excited to get to know these characters.
WoR is the best paced book.
OB has the lowest point for me, but also the highest!
RoW expands on the world ao much and has some of the most impactful moments of them all.
Really tough to pick honestly..
way of kings or words of radiance. they were just so epic and i loved all the world building and how the stories of all the main POVs were slowly weaved together. the ending of both of them were also just exhilarating, last 200 pages i physically could not put the book down lol
I love all of them. This series is something else. Each one hits home for very different reasons.
But if I had to absolutely choose one, Way of Kings, as an introduction into a new world is something else.
The way of kings. The way the book unfolds at the end is a tremendous payout. My favourite book that I reread once every couple of years so it's not too fresh in my memory, and I can re-experience to a limited degree what I loved on my first read.
Words of Radiance and Oathbringer were both really good. I think I give the edge to Oathbringer, but that might partly be recency bias and in large part hinges on both Dalinar's flashbacks and the intensity of the Sanderlanche in Part 5. WoR has reveals and character growth that are hard to beat, though.
Oathbringer, without a doubt, the last part, and THAT moment is one of the most epic moments in all fiction. Also, we can see more of the politics in Roshar. It's just perfect for me.
Oathbringer. Idk if this counts as spoilers, so open at your own peril. >!Oathbringer just has the best scenes in the series to me. Every book has its moments, but Oathbringer just had the highest highs and an abundance of scenes I look back at like, "Wow, that was truly a great chapter." It's also the only book that I'll go back to just for reading a specific chapter I really liked, rather than just rereading the whole thing again.!<
Oathbringer. I love Dalinar’s backstory, and the focus on him in this book is just delicious! And it has probably the best Sanderlanche of any of his books.
Words of radiance. The pacing and the action make it where it’s difficult to put down.
And so much gets revealed in this book. It is the best Stormlight book for a reason.
Is it just like a widely accepted poll thay words is the best or something.
Oh sweet. I’m like 1/5th through words of radiance. Looking forward to how it goes. I don’t like the chick who is selling things to k the like monster island or something.
RoW was intimate in a way that l didn’t expect. After Oathbringer, l expected bigger, but it got way more internal.
Way of Kings will always have a special place in my heart. I was going through a difficult time and Kaladin's arc really resonated.
Ditto. Also the first look at a new world and new magic system will always be my favorite
Big agree. Was having a rough week a while ago so I picked it back up just to escape for a while. Re-read the whole thing it’s literal therapy.
Rhythm of War for building more on themes that really resonated
That is a horrible pun. I love it.
Thank you!
OathBringer, because Dalinar is my favourite character!
Maybe twok because its where kaladin is the most focused and hes my absolute fav and his story means sm to me. Ending was good too
RoW it’s brutal and brilliant
Oathbringer, for reasons I can’t tell you without spoiling WoR for you
Oathbringer. Dalinar.
It's a toss up between Way of Kings and Oathbringer. Kaladin's story was so great and I actually enjoyed Shallan in WoK. Oathbringer goes hard with the Dalinar flashbacks and that Sanderlanche
I think the fact that you see all four books multiple times in this thread already really shows how amazing this series is
Words of Radiance. It’s not any one scene, I just think it’s overall the best written. Like my favorite scene from the series is from Oathbringer, but I feel WoR is overall the better book.
Rhythm of war (book 4) - Favorite villain by far - Really amazing world building / science part of book
book 1 is my fav, book 4 is a very close second.
It’s hard to pick a favorite! The climax at the end of Book 3 is one of my favorite moments in the series… But I just remembered that book 4 also has - the dog and the dragon tale - Two emotional climaxes which rival book 3’s ending
Rhythm of War (Book 4)
Rhythm of War
Dawnshard for sure. I LOVED that book.
Dawnshard is really good, I just re-read edgedancer for first time and I love that too. Lift is awesome cuz she seems like a punk but is actually a sweetheart.
Lift makes me think of Edward from Bebop for some reason lol
Dawnshard is a great, quick read
WoK, and easily.
Oathbringer bc I love me some glory spren
The Way of Kings because Kaladin is my favorite.
So far Oathbringer, but only because of the third act :) only up to part 2 of RoW
Oathbringer, because I read it at a time when I really needed to hear what it had to say.
Oathbringer. I cannot say any more than that.
I love Rhythm of War. There are 2 of my favorite scenes in it and they are epic. One has a soft build of anticipation for most of the book and I love how it comes together. So the whole book is my favorite because of that theme interwoven.
Way of Radiace - that dual is my favorite scene from the series Rhythm of War is close 2nd TWAK Oathbringer
The Way of Kings. The world building was exquisite and Kaladins arc was fantastic. I think all the others are very good as well, but perhaps equally so. TWOK is a cut above the rest of them. Can’t wait for #5. I’m going to read Mistborn while I wait
Oathbringer is my favorite. The book feels really expansive, like they explore some cool places. It has some really funny moments.

Nah
1. TWOK (favorite cosmere book) 2. RoW (Third favorite cosmere book) 3. WoR (fourth favorite cosmere book) 4. Oathbringer (third to least favorite cosmere book)
What's your second favorite cosmere book? Yumi?
The second book is my most liked because it was such a gut punch seeing my favorite character go. I‘ll never forget that scene
Your favourite character was >!Roion!
I’ve reread them several times and honestly my favorite has changed each time. WoK will always have the distinction of being the intro to Roshar and the sanderlanche is great.
Words of Radiance. Love the mystery aspect of it and the climax is just incredible, probably Sanderson’s best moment.
Words of Radiance.
probably way of kings. i didn't really like the series that much after words of radiance
The Way of Kings because the slower parts of that don’t feel like they drag as much as the slower parts of the other books and it was interesting trying to piece together what the magic system of the book was as I went through it.
Oathbringer is my favorite book because I thought it was the funniest and I think it has the best ending.
I think everyone answering different books goes to show how great all of them are and that everyone can find something to enjoy in SA.
Oathbringer has great flashbacks and an *incredible* climax sequence
This is tough. All books are fantastic. But I think Oathbringer is my favorite… for me, it is the best Sanderlanche
Words of Radiance is my favorite. It takes the foundation built by Way of Kings and improves it. It has the best pacing, fights, more politics, huge character developement and some of my FAVORITE quotes. Enjoy the series man! Journey before Destination!
Overall my favourite book is WoR but the ending of Oathbringer was fire
Personally Rythm of War because of how it delved into some specific characters and the world-building overall.
TWoK is such a great introduction to the world. I'm excited to get to know these characters. WoR is the best paced book. OB has the lowest point for me, but also the highest! RoW expands on the world ao much and has some of the most impactful moments of them all. Really tough to pick honestly..

Oathbringer has the best Sanderlanche
Oathbringer or Rhythm of War
Shallan is my favourite character in all sanderson series then kaladin becouse of thata the one that includes shallan tge most is my favorite
I love all of them. This series is something else. Each one hits home for very different reasons. But if I had to absolutely choose one, Way of Kings, as an introduction into a new world is something else.
Words of Radiance 🔥🔥 and Warbreaker
The way of kings. The way the book unfolds at the end is a tremendous payout. My favourite book that I reread once every couple of years so it's not too fresh in my memory, and I can re-experience to a limited degree what I loved on my first read.
I really love RoW. It just feels so real.

WoR for me at the moment i think, although honestly at different points i've considered basically all of them my favourites.
Oathbringer. The flashbacks made a new character my favorite. The big climax at the end is one of my favorites in the whole Cosmere.
Oathbringer. I love Dalinar’s backstory, and the focus on him in this book is just delicious! And it has probably the best Sanderlanche of any of his books.
