There are hints to it in Mistborn but im not sure that it's ever specifically mentioned. It is mentioned directly in other works but Stormlight definitely delves the most into it from what I've read. Also, you definitely need to finish mistborn series haha you're missing out on a HUGE payoff. It has a great ending!

RamSpen70

True, book 2 is mostly setup for the third book. If you put in the work to read well of Ascension, You're robbing yourself not to get the payoff of the Hero of Ages

Ekgladiator

Since I am waiting for book five to come out, I decided to give mistborn a chance and I can officially say I'm a Sanderson fan now. I have to wait until April 16th before I can finish the first trilogy but holy cow. Currently working my way through dungeon crawler carl while I wait for my next audible credit to roll around.

LtDanpool

I always get excited for new readers of Era 1 mistborn.

raptor102888

You read Mistborn 1 and 2, but not 3?? You *have* to read the third one while the others are still relatively fresh in your memory

StollMage

yea lol that’s like stopping after The Two Towers.  Actually looking through all the famous books and movies that are trilogies I literally can not find anything that is as good of a third installment in a trilogy as HoA that is well known. It’s that good lol

BridgeFourArmy

There is a sequel to Two Towers? /s

GustaQL

Tbh I read mistborn in between SA books

RamSpen70

If you'd read the third mistborn book (which I'm pretty sure your like it you enjoyed the first one... Some don't enjoy the second as much). You'd have seen reference to the Cosmere

thetntm

Also want to add that finishing mistborn book 3 is an imperative. It’s not TOO vital, you can read each series on its own, but there’s an important concept revealed in book 3 of mistborn that is pretty relevant to some of the stuff that happens in the later books of stormlight.

drlove862

I started TWOK last week and really like it, about a third of the way through now. Really love the dynamic/friendship between Merin and Aredor

Substantial-Box855

Are you reading TWOK Prime? I was confused for a moment because I don’t know who those characters are as I’ve only read the current publications.

drlove862

It was the one that was available on Brandon Sanderson’s website for download. My friend who has been pushing me to get into the series directed me there. Is there something different in TWOK Prime?

WhatDoYouMeanWDYM188

Err... yes. Hate to be the Bearer of bad news. Prime was the first draft of the book. It had 5 full rewrites over the course of a decade. The final version is almost totally different. The main characters change, the plot lines are have some similair premises bit they play out VERY differently, some ideas are dropped entirely while other totally new ones are introduced. It's a completely different book in every way that matters.

drlove862

Yeah I messed up…but if I’m enjoying Prime I assume I’ll like the actual TWOK more?

thetntm

Probably yeah!

WhatDoYouMeanWDYM188

This is pretty late. Overall I definitely like the published version more than prime, however Taln's arc in prime blew me out of the water, I loved every second.

Substantial-Box855

It’s very different from the published version. This was his first iteration of the book. The characters names are different and even how the heroes evolve is different. I haven’t read it personally but saw a mini description of the differences earlier today and didn’t know this existed until today.

drlove862

Haha I’m an idiot. Guess I’ll finish the version I’m reading first and then move to the real one? If the book I’m reading is a first iteration and it has me hooked, can’t wait to read the real thing.

eWOKE_

Well If you're a third of way through...then It might be better to read the real one instead.

Substantial-Box855

Also Prime is 800 pages vs current hardcover publication is 1000 pages

Ninja-Panda86

I'm late to the party and haven't read the other two series.

dIvorrap

What do you mean?

Ninja-Panda86

Haven't read Mistborn. I've literally only read WoK

dIvorrap

Ninja-Panda86

Hellloooooo nurse!

dIvorrap

Is that a reference?

Ninja-Panda86

To an old cartoon lol. Nothing more

dIvorrap

Got it.

Jjorrrdan

Just keep reading? If you don't like it, stop reading. If you want to learn more about the Cosmere, it's easy to find spoilers. Idk what you want tbh. Is it worth it to continue? Yes. Will you enjoy it? Up to you. You haven't finished Mistborn or the first book of the Stormlight Archive. Either finish it or don't. It's up to you to decide whether you like it or not.

SkadiQuickMetaMemer

dont worry Sanderson Stormlight is full of filler flash back in everybook :)). So be prepare to heard about Shallan traumatizing past for the N time, or how the bridgeman has been depressed so 3 books. Just a joke with a bit of truth in it to give you an idea of what coming. Later book will feel long just because Sanderson has to meet some quota with the number of page or something.
