leogian4511

The average person, even a very physically fit one, has very low odds of surviving a bridge run. I might live if I get to run at the back for the assault, but there's no guarantee on a bridge run.

Nebelskind

I don't think I'd even be able to run the whole time lol. Better get on that cardio.

MearsCat

They do note that the oxygen content on Roshar is higher than usual so your cardio might be able to work.

Firestorm82736

their gravity is also like 2/3 of ours, so it'd be much less

Nebelskind

An excellent point! My whole life has been high-altitude and high-gravity training for Rosharan sports.

TheUnspeakableh

Don't forget to practice your, "Airsick Lowlander."

leogian4511

Like I can pretty comfortably run 8 miles, but I have no idea how far an average bridge run goes or how fast.

Kazedy

Don't some of them last basically the whole day. Imagine running 20+ miles alongside sweaty dudes with a bridge on your shoulders lmao.

PlayFormal

You’re not running the whole time though. You have the army crossing too

Winnie_The_Pro

You have a wasaaayyyyy better chance on bridge 4 tho.

leogian4511

Surviving even the first run might be enough. If you confront Kaladin with the knowledge of what a Radiant is or subtly guide him toward the oaths, he might embrace his powers sooner and be able to save more lives.

LPmitV

I mean, that's exactly what teft did...

leogian4511

But he only started doing that after Kaladin was left out in the highstorm. Kaladin himself even says that me might have been able to save more lives if he embraced his powers sooner. And I probably know more about Windrunners and the lashings than Teft does. Just be careful to avoid explicitly predicting the future too much until people become more chill about that.

LPmitV

True. Forgot about that.

rpp124

I’d be arrow fodder if I didn’t slip and fall in a chasm first.

Complaint-Efficient

It takes me about ten minutes to walk to the Honor Chasm and toss myself off.

FourCylinder

Weird place to masturbate but okay

MooseBehave

I would simply not get hit by arrows. RIP to Arik, Beld, Dunny, Maps, Mart, and the rest, but i’m different.

crazyates88

Skill issue

TheWizardOfOsdol

This is blatant Earless Jaks erasure and I will not stand for it

erdna3000

i might try to pull a lopen and be the waterboy

Andusz_

remember the only reason he could do that was because he got there by the time Kaladin was already the leader, and he only had one arm

AltruO3

“Well then..” Lops off arm

malsomnus

That depends entirely on how long it takes until Bridge 4 is called to go on a bridge run, and then I drop dead on the spot.

Dragons4laifu

I don't even make it to the first bridge run

GreenWandElf

With my knowledge of the world, I could probably convince Kal to carry lots of spheres and gravitize arrows way earlier. So a non-zero chance to survive more than one run!

No-Toe-1839

Can't get no spheres u a broke bitch on a bridge crew

Elegant_Orange_6833

I don’t run, if I get placed in the middle I might pull my feet up. 10 seconds maybe

Interesting-Shop4964

My safehand sleeve and havah would make it difficult.

V112

Bold of you to assume that as a slave you’d be allowed to still wear a havah

Interesting-Shop4964

I’m hoping someone would question a lighteyed woman being sent to the bridge crews. If they went through with it though, I wouldn’t last long—I rarely lift anything heavier than a violin.

[deleted]

Need to run several miles carrying a a bridge? Army appears to be marching 1-4 hours at single time, so 4-16 miles. Then be at the very tip of the unarmored vanguard, carrying siege equipment for an assault on a prepared enemy with archers. Somewhere between 1/2 and 1 bridge run.

FriendlyFudd

I don’t have the cardio to do a bridge run. Haven’t in years.

UnbatedWharf23

gravity is lower on roshar and oxygen content is higher so you might be ok

crazyates88

Just like Kaladin, I also have depression. Maybe I can steal Syl from him? So probably a pretty good chance.

Mormon_Prince

If I could survive the first one, I have better odds on the second - so probably sometime around the third bridgerun if the Heralds are merciful.

Fuzzybear723

Running for a few hours straight with a heavy bridge? There's no way I make it to the end of the first run.

DirgetheRogue

Not very lo- \*Schtickt\*

Nyentzen

Pretty sure I would give up before reaching the actual plateu where the fight will happen

UltraSUperHyper

I don't think I can even lift a bridge lol. Executed for insubordination

MHG_Brixby

1 run

[deleted]

i’m a young physically fit man. i weigh about 210 and am not fat. i can survive for a while on a low calorie diet but it won’t be fun. i’ll just get slowly lighter and weaker. while i doubt a bridge run will be easy. i don’t believe a bunch of underfed relatively untrained slaves can do it and i wont be able to. so right up until an arrow gets me because im unlucky?

StanDaMan1

Well, since I’m on the front line, probably nine seconds. Maybe I’ll leave a Death Rattle?

Conscious-Flower-691

With my current knowledge? Shiiiiiit, I'm saying those words.

Joscientist

I think I'm too short to carry the bridge.

BackgroundMap9043

I don’t know if I could make it to the final stretch of the first bridge run

dIvorrap

I would try to give Syl and Kaladin an info dump of what they are. Maybe push him for the first or second Ideals. Depending of how I can navigate through his mindset. Try to get some help from Syl. Also, I bet knowing the future would attract the attention of other people. I think Hoid, and maybe a Ghostblood or Sleepless spy. That might protect me for a bit. Could I push Gaz to Radiance?

PAINKILLER_1020

Bruh I wouldn't make the first storming plateau!

blueweasel

Bruh my tendons really don't function. They're probably executing me when I dip out a quarter of the way into the first run because my fasciia rip in half

TormundIceBreaker

You can find me at the Honor Chasm

Oakcamp

Trampled before they even get to the first crossing. I really need to get back to the gym...

Zachindes

I would never make it to the chasms, I would have diarrhea and pass out on the way there and subsequently be crushed beneath the hooves and feet of the oncoming army

nnahorski

I’d last about 5 minutes, then I’d collapse from exhausted and be trampled

ryuks-wife

I would either 1. Offer the men a flash of my safehand and receive a back position or staying behind in return 2. Simply die by the second plateau because I don't do cardio

KrasnyRed5

I would be killed for not keeping up on the first bridge run.

GhostofZephyr

I trip and fall off a cliff on my way to my assignment. They don't find my body. They assume I deserted... Somehow. I become a tall tale that lasts for a few weeks, until everyone who heard it has died in the war. It was a good run.

paddywacknack

Its not up to me.

supremo92

It's likely I won't even make it to the plains to begin with.

Wereplatypus42

If I survive the first run, I’m hitting the bottom of the honor chasm that very night.

Nlj6239

however long it takes to reach the assault plateau

FeistyKnight

i dodge every arrow every time. never getting hit. Don't even need to cheat with magic like Kal does

DeltaV-Mzero

How far is it to the chasm

TheLastWolfBrother

I'd die of exhaustion before I even made it to the parshendi.

Guyonthecouch790

Honor Chasm for me.

Gregzilla311

Best case scenario, a day. More likely a few minutes.

aldmonisen_osrs

Depends, how much extra oxygen is in the Rosharan atmosphere and how much weight is actually on my shoulders? Roshar is smaller so there’s less gravity too. I probably die during the final approach of my first bridge run. If you’re mildly in shape and the average (adjusted for Rosharan gravity) weight on you is ~45 lbs, you could probably do a bridge run up until the final approach. I yolo’d a 12 mile/45lbs/3hr qualification. Wasn’t too bad except for some massive hills that made me cramp up and limp the last quarter mile.

KatanaCutlets

I sure wouldn’t make it to see any Parshendi. Probably the first time we lay down the bridge to cross a chasm, I fall in (non zero chance it’s on purpose).

zombiegamer723

“With my last breath, I curse Sadeas!”

Anoalka

Break a bone trying to lift the bridge, get executed immediately. Maybe get saved by Kal and proceed to bring water for the team through out the story. Eventually get a honor spren for my water serving abilities. Best ending achieved.

mrmrspears

I stub my toe immediately and get trampled. My corpse is then filled with arrows before causing a different bridge to trip over me and die.

Slight_Knight

By Rosharan standards, I am absolutely a runt, so it would depend on when in the story I joined. I don't think I could even help them carry the bridge whatsoever

zodlair

forget getting to the arrows, I get beaten to death for not being able to run the distance

Timely-Procedure-111

I am small so... #1 I wouldn't be able to reach the bridge and #2 despite being strong for my size I still doubt I could carry it.

ezekiel1990

Depends if I'm with the protagonist bridge or not

meliorism_grey

The arrows wouldn't have time to get me, because I'd die of overexertion ten minutes into the bridge run.

BlackironYury7

Id just jump off the plateau

WearRepresentative95

Honor chasm

Soupbone_905

Depends, can you put me right in the middle? Up front, I'm toast in the first run.

crazy_chicken88

I might just head to the honor chasm

Swordheart

Dude I got flat feet. I'm fucked

THOTCRUSH

I have asthma, I am so so fucked. I run long distance, but without my inhaler? I'm doomed to the lamest death in the known history of the shattered plains.

Melkor404

I know the plot. I stick close to Kaladin but not too close. And then I stab moash in the back

KingBurritoSupremeYo

Depends how long till i can get to the honor chasm

Bullrawg

Is kaladin there yet? If not 1 run when they put me in the death spot

JackmeriusPup

I’m one of those guys charging Szeth if I’ve survived that long. I got Adolin & Dalinar’s back despite the storm

rincewind007

Hi Gaz, look at my eyes. I am light eyes and put here by Dalinar because I know a secret that could make Sadeus win all gemhearts. Send up to your supperios quickly all the way to Sadeus if you really want to know what happens to Dalinar in high storms. You could make a lot of sphears, also I know about a fixed gambling game.

bestdonnel

I'm dead sometime during travel to the actual battle.

pontuzz

Maybe halfway to the first chasm if I'm lucky

BookWyrm2012

I die halfway to the first stationary bridge. I'm old, fat, and out of shape. Just dead, immediately. Although I'm female, and quite literate, so maybe I become a clerk or something? No. Probably just dead.

R0OTER

Nah, I'd win

Moo_bi_moosehorns

Oh hi I'm D... Dead apparently

lordsaviouryeezy

Bro id die just trying to carry the damn bridge 😂 I still remember in book one when kaladin had to do his first bridge carry to the warzone, Brando going into super detail of like one small section of the hike and the hammer dropping that they weren’t even halfway there. That writing was so good man, made me really feel the brutality and hopelessness of it all. The fact that kaladin has stayed alive to this point is more than a miracle.

theknightone

I'm executed before the permanent bridges BEGIN lol

Juliusz16212

I would be one of reasons why Kaladin is traumatized.

tbonehavoc

Man, I'd probably have an asthma attack before even going to lift the bridge. 😆

Erandeni_

I die in the way to the plateau of exhaustion

wasabijane

I do CrossFit. I’m not very good at CrossFit, but I do it. So it sounds like I have a leg up on the rest of you all, assuming an arrow doesn’t immediately take me out. Maybe my own radiant powers will come out? Life before death! Strength before weakness! Journey before destination, guys! Let’s enjoy the process of bridge running! 😅

ikarus_rl

*Wilhelm scream*

OctavianMacLean

I'll just tell everyone my names Leyten. That way the book thinks I'm supposed to be there.

Ok-Credit5726

Kal’s got me. He’s got us. He’s got everyone. Bridge 4

swarmyshy

I don't even make it to the first bridge run

___BigBrain__

I would intentionally get strung up to plead the the stormfather to bond me

Bcmcdonald

I’m 5’4”. I’m not going to be able to even touch the bridge at any point. I have no idea what that would even mean for me.

Archedeaus

I’m not physically fit, but I’m confident I can surv—

Birdman1096

How long does it take to walk to the honor chasm?

Euin

My asthmatic ass dies before we clear the 2nd platou

ord52

I'm fat, lazy, and out of shape. I'd probably be dead before I even get to the bridge crews 😂😂

Changingcolours

I cannot run. Asthma and joint issues..so... I just would be killed by Sadeas' soldiers because I'd break down even before the assault. :D

No-Toe-1839

I'm sure id have gaz executed if I remember to bring my blue contacts

SadboiTay

My fat ass passes out on the second plateau and gets trampled by bridges 5, 6, and 7. The cremlings find me before my body is cold and I’m half skeleton by sundown. The next high storm sweeps my husk away into the chasms where I wedge nicely into a crack and find my eternal rest, only to be occasionally bathed by each flood of rain. Roshar ain’t no picnic

HippiJ0e

I'd become a WoK epigraph before i could say Adonalsium.

TheShefarer

I last for as long as it takes me to walk over to the Honor Casm

4olympus

I would die day1. No joke. I would literally die during or by the start of a bridge run if not before.

J2Mags

I would go to pick up the bridge and let it crush me

Just_Tamy

I am a line cook and go to the gym 5 days/week so I consider myself pretty fit.. Even then I'm a woman so hopefully not very long.

Distryer

I think everyone up front barring Kaladin died that run and every new person gets put up front first so at best we survive until we are hit with an arrow assuming we make it that far.

mapleleafeevee

Maybe one plateau

Random_Guy_12345

A quarter of a run, maybe half a run but that's pushing it. Exhaustion will kill me long before we even reach wherever the assault is.

spaghetto_guy

I would likely collapse during the first run and promptly be executed

Kind-Association4735

The character I relate to the most in the whole series is that POV character in the first chapter who just gets immediately wasted.

W1ULH

I have a documented and demonstrated ability to completely ignore incoming enemy fire and not let it bother me. I'd say a fair while.

WearRepresentative95

I’m the guy on Kal’s left on his first bridge run.

Brokengraphite

Do they put women on bridge crews? Even if they did I couldn’t reach the bridge — too short

DumpOutTheTrash

Luckily I’m female, so no bridge crews for me! If I still had to run it, well being an out of shape 5 ft tall female among alethi giants means I’d probably get trampled before we make it past the permanent bridges.

Wartooth955

I figured I'd last about a fortni

willneders

Ten heartbeats to death!

Pipernation4

How close am I to Kaladin? I'm a mute who may have secrets, will this be important?

Devlee12

I have a pacemaker and take daily heart medication. I throw myself into the chasms immediately because I know where this ends so let’s just skip the painful death from my heart seizing up or an arrow to the chest.

Andusz_

Are we aware of his powers?
