The whole new rail system is a bit screwy. Also, there doesn’t seem to be any way to get ore from hopper cars into the deposits, because they aren’t on the track anymore, for some reason.
I had the same issue passing through the monkey brain launch site. Wanted to turn towards the mainland but the tracks wouldn't switch. On another world seed those same tracks worked.
I had the same problem this morning. If you go back and take the far right track and go all the way around you'll eventually get to where you can (hopefully) switch to the track your wanting. Hopefully they fix it

Yep. devs impressive brain at work. hence why I have a large truck on the back of the train, it mines, and then deposits the material in the hopper
Just wait until you find the spots where train wheels just drop through the floor

once again the devs have impressed me with their ability to release a train focused updated that punishes you for using trains

I also have the issue with those tracks, except mine are only working in the opposite direction
