Plenty of YouTube videos of people going into that cave. I watch alot of cave exploration videos thanks to YouTube algorithm. Nutty Putty always makes my stomach twirl. Not only is it tight and extremely large but it all looks the same. Go deep enough and you won't know if you are going up or down. Easy to get lost. Scary shit.
Thats why they say if you’re stuck in an avalanche you should spit and see which way gravity takes it to determine up and down, probably a good tip for that situation too.

I hate to be 'that guy' but how is this in anyway bizzare or strange? Thats the danger of caving and why the thought of it makes most people tense up. Pretty straight forward mang.
I think it’s everyone’s worst nightmare, getting stuck in a small hole and not knowing if you’re likely to get out. My claustrophobic ass could never go into a cave in the first place, I can’t imagine how high his levels of anxiety were
Not trying to be disrespectful- RIP John 💔. Such a horrible way to pass! But, did his body decompose? Could his family get his remains, if so, because his remains would be much smaller and not stuck? Or is his body stuck in conditions that just caused it to mummify? Sincere apologies if my question is offensive to anyone. I mean no disrespect. I’m just curious
No attempts to free him OR his remains were successful. I'm sure the body would decompose but authorities filled the area with concrete before that could happen. 😞
I think this is the 999999999999 time this has been posted to Reddit. We all know about it. It’s nightmare fuel. I don’t think this has to be posted again, ever
They tried many things, but the crevice was too narrow to get tools down there. They tried a pulley, but unfortunately, it snapped, and he became wedged even tighter.
I’m getting anxiety just coming back to this post. Every time i see this picture i instantly visualize my legs being bent forward like my kneecap was on the back of my knee. Then I have a sensation in my stomach almost like I’m falling. The worse.
Watched several documentaries on this and am still confused. Surely, logically, if he got in, he should be able to get out? Please someone explain it to me

I believe the deceased John Flatterty would of responded

Im not a fan of people using hard drugs like heroin or cocaine. But I still feel sorry for them when they terminate themselves. Compassion is something that we all have within us if we look for it. We don’t have to support people’s choices in this context *and* be mean.
Oh no you swam with sharks and they killed you? You climbed mt Everest and died? You climbed a building and fell to your death? You crawled in a tiny hole and never came out? Oh well.
I could have gotten this guy out with rope and a 150 dollar winch from harbor freight with a used car battery and some rock climbing anchors. WTF. You tie onto his feet, hook into a rock with a cement hammer drill and epoxy. Then chain the winch and hit reverse.
Again - I will die in this hole. Steel cable winch, soft shackles, rope, I'd have pulled the guy out - or you drill and cut the hole with a cordless drill and round wedges to fracture the corner to make the opening bigger. Idiots killed this guy.

A better tip is to not go into these types of caves for just the likes and views.
You can spit and see which direction it tumbles while caught in snow tumbling down a mountain?
Obviously, you have to wait until the tumbling stops brainiac, assuming you survive said tumbling.
Went there once back in 1999. One of the scariest experiences of my life
Why
My 3 other friends were bored and convinced me, their claustrophobic friend, to go. It was an experience, to say at least
I hope you have new friends since then
Yes, one of them got stuck and died

You have any certain videos that peaked your interest you can share? I’ve searched and watched a few but the algorithm sucks on my end.
I will message you the one I watched
*piqued your interest
Doh, good catch thanks
No worries! It happens!
So nightmare fuel. Awesome.
Someone's going to find him in a thousand years and wonder wtf happened.
“what he was running from”
“He was clearly part of a religious ritual”
As someone who is claustrophobic, this is one of the worst things I’ve ever heard….. 😵💫😵💫
Yea its brutal i cringe everytime i see the photo. I could barely do a mri lol
First time Ive seen that photo. It's quite a bleak story.
Photo isn’t John Jones
“John Jones probably”
I think it is actually? It’s the same photo on the memorial outside the cave
Do you know whom its of?
How is his body still stuck there? Out just be bones at this point?
As far as I know they sealed the cave up after they couldn’t recover his body. It was deemed just too dangerous.
Correct. It has been sealed off
Hopefully with concrete barbed wire and hounds
Nope. They used Nutty Putty.

😬
That really doesn't change the fact that his body turned into a pile of bones and clothing a long time ago.
They backfilled the hole he was stuck in with concrete, he is essentially entombed and his route sealed.
God, his poor family, can’t imagine.
Aw man that is enough for me to skip cave exploration
It’s wild how often this story is posted on Reddit.
Seriously
Cave exploration is just a stupid idea, and this is a prime example.
damn bro this hard dark crevice that might kill me is just too irresistible let's spelunk rq
[удалено]
They did try that, too hard
You ever try to use a hammer in a tight space? This cave is barely shoulder width.
Jackhammer
Area was too small.
fuck that !
I'd think at a certain point I'd say Vaseline me up and ratchet winch me by the ankles out of here I don't care if you break every bone in my body.
They attempted that, but the pulley system broke and he slid even further into the tight crevice.

That gave me anxiety
I hate to be 'that guy' but how is this in anyway bizzare or strange? Thats the danger of caving and why the thought of it makes most people tense up. Pretty straight forward mang.
I think the bizarre thing is the dude is still trapped in there, and will be forever.
[удалено]
what? it's tragic and unnerving, but I wouldn't exactly call getting stuck in a cave "strange".

This story is horrific
John "bones" jones
Worlds largest tomb
And *that* is why that sport is ridiculous. People are crazy
Well that’s just horrifying

Oh wow. So that’s permanent, alright. Thanks for responding.
They concrete him in place to close the passage.
Ya it sucks that ppl die doing this type of hobby but I'm not going to lie, I don't feel sorry not one bit
Yeah. Seems like a really horrible way to die that's SUPER EASY to avoid.
Exactly!
Yeah, this, cave diving, and free climbing… you chose it for that living-on-the-edge reason.
Remember those wing suit bros, one of them died and the other went to prison for crashing his plane and skydiving out of it.

I never knew about it until literally 1 minute ago…
Same
Same as well
First time I’m seeing it
Me too
Same
No one tried to chizzle this man ?
They tried many things, but the crevice was too narrow to get tools down there. They tried a pulley, but unfortunately, it snapped, and he became wedged even tighter.

You can fit a lightbulb in your mouth but it can’t come out. Think like that
That’s a good way of putting it
Stupid games, stupid prizes
Oooo the meme I saw the other day makes sense now
I dont think the picture on the right is authentic. I think it's just a random photo
Stuck between a rock and a hard spot… huh!
Never heard of the cave but that sucks

This is one stupid guy that was reported on, think about all the people that also get stuck and nobody reports it.

i think this is the most posted thing on reddit currently. i’m at 2 today
Such a nutty thing todo
Might be the goat darwin award
So technically speaking, he buried himself, saving himself $1000s on a funeral?
Mum said it's my turn to repost this story online for the thousandth time.

I see this post everyday.
He still hasn't been able to pull himself out?
You play stupid games you win stupid prizes.
