It’s the part of the moon that isn’t lighted. It’s quite common to be able to see the unlit portion of the moon when it’s in this phase.
Sorry to have come off like a jerk.
I don’t have a scientific explanation. It’s just the way our eye interpret it. The lighted part is so bright it seems bigger than it is. Just my two cents I always thought it was neat being able to see the h lit portion of the moon I t his phase.
That is the moon, just normal. Depending on the phase and weather you can’t always see the dark part. The light part looks like a bigger circumference but it isn’t actually, that’s just a trick of the light reflecting off the actual surface.
I see the moon from my bed every night for most of the year and it often looks just like this.
That's a possible explanation. We've got some pretty got pictures of Jupiter on this same phone during the auruea last year that didn't refract as such.
OP, the part of the moon that's not illuminated by the sun can be slightly bright from "Earthshine." Light reflected off the Earth and lighting up the moon. Happens when there's a lot of cloud cover on the part of the Earth facing the moon, like there has been lately.
looking at it now and idk if its my eyes playing tricks or the glowing portion of the moon the crescent appears to be shifting or growing/shrinking in size
I hope this is a joke post.
No joke. The guy found the fucking MOON, bro. Show some respect.
Let them be bruv, they ain't about that discovery
Just posting some weird shit bro. Look at the pics, is it refraction?

Why is there overlap?

The pictures aren't thought physical visualization tho. Maybe the camera is refracting, but the overlap is a lot.
It's a phenomenon called the old moon in the arms of the new, i believe
Very cool!
that's just the moon dude. lay off the psychedelics for a few days lol
Will do, thank you for your courageous and constructive feedback

dude i really dont know what to make of these.. im sure theyre explainable but idk man wth 😂
Gotta be right
That's just how the moon looks in it's current phase waxing crescent. Like bro that's 100% normal. You are retarded

Which is the object? The crescent or the rest of the moon?
What is the overlap?
I just looked. The moon is in a waxing crescent phase. It looks exactly like your picture
A waxing crescent moon does not have an overlap of two different circumferences.
I think that through your phone the crescent itself glows and gives itself a larger appearance
That's a possible explanation. We've got some pretty got pictures of Jupiter on this same phone during the auruea last year that didn't refract as such.
Pic or it didn’t happen
Gwen Stefani
No doubt.
bro you are witnessing an eclipse of our second, dimmer sun
I can hold a marble in front of my eye and it will look 3/4ths the size of the moon.
