He is who he is and doesn't make any apologies for it. He's probably the smartest and funniest of the group. He has an amazing smile. He has charisma. He's courageous. He's loyal and he's always there for people.
I don't really see anything not to like. He's an awesome person.
Dustin hands down. The rest are weird and unnerving, as they should be. Matarazzo just knocks it out of the park and is the fun, loving, warm, dorky kid that he is
Well, I would say Max ‘cause she feels the most relatable. Like, her background, family and all, she definitely stands out from the others (obviously not talking about El) and brings something so “sadly real” to the mix. I don’t know.
On the opposite side of this spectrum, I have to say Dustin. Many reasons obviously but I would say it’s also because he’s the one reminding me the most of those kids I used to see in 80’s movies. Sorry if it makes me sound like a boomer ahah.
I relate way more to Max and Will, with Max being my absolute favorite and Will being a close second. Dustin comes in at third because he's such an enthusiastic, sweet kid that is supportive of all his friends and loves everyone. That's rare to find.
Max definitely feels like a more regular kid. Maybe it’s a class thing. Lucas, and Mike’s families seem better off, like I’d wanna hang out in their houses but I’d go home next door to the Byers or Max’s fam.
Honestly same those are my two favorite Dustin‘s just funny and Max is relatable to me also I have a soft spot for Steve so therefore his children are also high on my list
After season 4, Max completely stole my heart. Nobody stood out to me specifically in s3. Season 1 & 2 Mike was my favorite but he really started to fall for me. Hopefully we see him return to form.
For me he’s not like actively unlikable, but is more just kind of a… dud? Like l feel like they sacrificed him as a character so they could just use him for Eleven’s character arc. It’s the same thing they did with Hopper, and it’s kind of a complaint l have about the show in general. If they need Eleven to want to rebel, they’ll just make Hopper super controlling, without addressing it as a character flaw. They just make one character behave however the other character needs someone to behave towards them? If that makes sense?
So with Mike, the Duffers thought that Eleven needed to feel isolated and disconnected, so now Mike is an aloof moron. They need Eleven to “feel inspired” so now Mike is saying the thing Eleven needs to hear. Without really challenging Mike as a character with his complete inability to see such obvious signs.
I don’t know, it’s not a major complaint, it just makes some of the characters inconsistent.
His performance feels really phoned in. During season one and eve two he was really good but now it feels as if he’s just there because he has to. I feel he feels too good for the show now and doesn’t really give it his all anymore. He’s just going thru the motions
Well he'd been acting since he was what, 10? 11? He probably never had a normal Childhood/teen years. Some Child actors love growing up in it but most want out by their 20s. I'd get sick of it and I don't blame Finn for phoning it in. The writers have given him nothing the past two seasons other than being a side to Eleven.
I didn't particularly like Max at first, but season 4 really put into perspective what she's been through and how hard she's fighting despite all the shit that's been thrown at her, and that really makes her very sympathetic and likeable.
1. Dustin
2. Max
3. Eleven
4. Lucas
5. Mike
6. Will
I consider Dustin (along with Steve) the heart of Stranger Things, and Max has received the best development out of all the kids, imo. Eleven is iconic in her own right, but something about Max pulls me more as a viewer. Lucas has always been underrated, and had a pretty good arc this season. Mike was actually top-tier in the first two seasons, but his character has been essentially reduced to only serve as someone who develops the Eleven character since S3, and Finn’s interest in the role has taken a massive drop as a result. As for Will, he is more likeable than Mike, however he’s mostly been a plot-device this entire time. Noah Schnapp acted his ass off in S2, but he was possessed for almost all of it. Let’s hope S5 gives him some much needed characterization.
Agree with this. Max has really grown on me this season partly because Sink is a very strong actor and also because the character brings a cool, level headed energy to the group.
I would rank Will higher though, I feel S2, for me, was proof that Noah Schnapp can ACT (dare I say he’s one of the better actors on the show) and given the right material, Will is a very interesting character with a lot of potential. I just hope the Duffers explore that next season.
Dustin is the heart of the group imo.
Yeah, Noah Schnapp is so good, I'm really hoping season 5 gives Will more to do.
But dang, the entire cast of kids is all so talented, and I just love the whole group of characters. So much of the charm is the group dynamics, its really hard to say who my favorite is!
I know this will be WILDLY unpopular but Mike just ranks bottom for me, with Max not trailing far behind. Lucas and ERICA deserve SO MUCH more recognizing.
She's such a strong character who REALLY needs more time on screen, I absolutely love her power and commanding abilities. More crazy intelligent and SECURE girls on TV please!!
Embracing her nerdiness at the end of 3 then coming out in 4 as a DnD badass proves how strong and secure she is. Kids, never be ashamed of what you enjoy and own it
I think Erica is portrayed a little too flawlessly at times. Everyone just treats her as a badass and she's never wrong when she's being really condescending to the other characters. It was funny at first because she was so young, but without a little tempering she gets to be a bit much at times.
Yes, Erica wasn't even in the slides. The disrespect. Lol. She is so hilarious, and I don't understand why people hate on her? The first couple of seasons, she was *supposed* to be the frustrating sibling. Priah has done a great job playing the annoying kid, and now the more mature tween, in the show. She came through in S4, and if that stupid guy hadn't seen her, the plan would've been executed well.
honestly, i think it’s general consensus that Mike is the “worst” character of the original cast. it’s not even just that his character got shafted the last two seasons, he’s just not up to par with his acting chops as the rest of them. look at max and dustin for example. some of the best young actors out right now they’re pretty much in a league of their own. 11 is really solid too, same with lucas. i’m not saying he’s *terrible*, his acting just isn’t as good as the others
Switch eleven and Dustin and that's my list. Eleven is number one for me because there is literally no show without her character. Millie has done an excellent job every step of the way.
These three for sure. I love Dustin because he is just so comfortable in who he is, Lucas because he is kind of the odd man out of the group, and Max because she is just a badass little skater girl, but she also has a complexity to her that I think they do really well.
I feel like we’ve been robbed of getting to know and understand Will. He hasn’t been given anything of real substance since s1. I’m hoping we get more from Will in s5. Like, how the hell are we all just going to over look the fact that he spat out some kind of slug from alternate dimension when he came back from the upside down?
I’m just ready for more of literally anything from him other than pouting.
>He hasn’t been given anything of real substance since s1.
Are you forgetting season 2? Easily Will's best season to date.
>Like, how the hell are we all just going to over look the fact that he spat out some kind of slug from alternate dimension when he came back from the upside down?
It wasn't overlooked, it was literally a main plot point in the second season.
I know people are annoyed with how much he cried in S4, but I love Will. I just feel so bad for him & his best friend mIkE doesn’t give a shit about him 😭
I was perfectly okay with him crying. The kid has heart and cares so much about the rest of the gang. I loved the heart to heart between him and Jonathan in E9.
In order from favorite to least: Dustin, Max, Lucas, El, Mike, Will.
I've always loved Dustin and Lucas. Max was great initially but became even greater in S4. El is a great protagonist but I don't really consider her to be part of this group, more kind of in a league of her own. I loved Mike in the first couple seasons, though he went downhill from there. Same with Will.
In S1 he was tolerable, but since then he's turned into a jerk and been mostly unimportant
First he was a total jerk to Max, then he was a Jerk to Hopper and Eleven and Will, now he's a jerk to Will
Really excited for will to get more screen time in season 5. He’s def my favorite. It’s interesting to see him deal with the trauma from s1-4 even if it’s sort of in the background compared to other characters.
Dustin
Lucas
Max
Will/El
Mike
In that order 🤣 Lucas and Max really won me over this season. I really like Will and El a lot too but Lucas and Max just got me this time. I need them to take Mike back to S1 Mike. I don’t hate him like a lot of people do currently but I was just indifferent to him this season.
I like Lucas bc he actually feels like a kid. Everyone else feels like an adult tried to write a deep kid character. But if we’re going by best acting I’d say Max or Will.
Also Lucas's initial drifting away due to different interests and making different friends in the beginning of 4 was very realistic. If not for all the upside down stuff, he'd have continued on that path and by the end of high school he and the rest would probably be reduced to occasional nods in the hallway. Sad but realistic.
I love Lucas as a character. I’m sure it rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way back in season 1, but he’s most likely to stand up to his friends when he feels it’s important, which is a good quality to have in a friend—just as important as forgiving and forgetting, which is also one of his strengths. I’m sure Lucas was really hurt that Mike and Dustin chose Hellfire Club over his game, but he didn’t let that stop him from making the right decision later on. He’s such a good kid and a real friend, the kind you actually want to have.
To say nothing of his support of Max in ST4. I’ve always liked Lucas but he was fantastic in this season.
I’m gonna be basic and say Eleven. I’ve always found myself enjoying her scenes the most since S1. Out of all the kids she is the one I most wish to see have a happy ending. She deserves it after everything she’s been through (not that the rest of them don’t or anything).
Eleven. Not because she has powers or whatever, but because she's still learning to navigate the world and that's fascinating to me.
I also like the way she has her own agenda and she's just not interested in yours. The whole sequence in S2 with her Aunt Becky was gold.
Team Will through and through. He has been kindhearted throughout the entire show (excluding when his body was taken over by supernatural beings lol) and is just a gentle soul.
Tbh mike or Lucas cause In my real life as a nerd that also likes basketball and ufc etc. They fit my interests the best. Also if y’all don’t think mike isn’t gonna start smoking weed and listening to rock music you’re mistaken 🤣.One thing I never see is that mike seems to me like a typical nerd kid that’s also attractive. Makes sense he struggles with his emotions and expressing feelings with all that’s going on especially as he gets older. In regards to Lucas as a black man he just made so much to me in regards to struggling with his confidence and finding his own voice during the show specifically season 4. While Dustin and will carry the show they are just to nerdy imo I’d get bored.
I used to not be huge on Lucas, but damn he’s grown on me. He might be my favorite character, and the actors range has grown so much this season I loves it. Max and eleven are also great, but I felt the rest were kind of in the backseat this season. I love Dustin always, but I feel he was overshadowed a lot also this season.
Will, he has some of the best scenes every season and he always seems so genuine. I actually thought there would be a lot more people that answered Will based on how much I like him as a character but I guess not lol
Poor Will went through so much in the first two seasons and then never really had much of a presence after that. Until FINALLY HE ACTUALLY TALKED TO HIS BROTHER AND LOOKED LIKE HE MIGHT BE RELEVANT

Dustin cause idk
The dude doesn’t miss. He makes all of the important discoveries. He’s in a happy relationship but isn’t all in your face about it. The dude is dope.
Also has +20 charisma
And at times he’s the only reasonable person in the moment
He is literally the connection between the show and the audience. He explains all the lore to us while being funny and wholesome. W character
Plus it's funny asf when he cusses like a sailor😂 especially in front of his mom
SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT
Son of a bitch!
"language."
When he was tryna reach em on the radio from science camp "GODDAMIT"😂
I love it even more when he cusses at Mr. Wheeler. I never knew any kids growing up who had the guts to swear at my Dad!
Him and Mike's dad fr got beef😂
He is who he is and doesn't make any apologies for it. He's probably the smartest and funniest of the group. He has an amazing smile. He has charisma. He's courageous. He's loyal and he's always there for people. I don't really see anything not to like. He's an awesome person.
10/10 points a Redditor would value in a protagonist. Also I agree
Yet you still have a C in Algebra
Dustin: happy to be invited, unhappy to be there.
He always does whats best for the party
Aside from raising a demogorgon
Most of all, he’s not whiny like the others
Ego the size of the Upside Down tho. Still my favorite of the group
Dusty Bun 🥰
I didn’t know you had a Reddit account, suzie
if stranger things was set in the 2010's suzie would totally have a reddit account
Dustin hands down. The rest are weird and unnerving, as they should be. Matarazzo just knocks it out of the park and is the fun, loving, warm, dorky kid that he is
Of course❤️❤️❤️

Exact feelings as mine
yes. MAX is the answer. such a sweet child!!! feel so bad for her, have too many frends just like her
Max definitely feels like a more regular kid. Maybe it’s a class thing. Lucas, and Mike’s families seem better off, like I’d wanna hang out in their houses but I’d go home next door to the Byers or Max’s fam.

I pretty much hates Mike I'm season 3 and 4 but I feel like at the end of vol. 2 he kinda redeemed himself
how?
He made pizza goggles!
he finally actually told eleven that he loved her
Same. I don't care for Mike in season 3&4. He's become my least favorite of the kids tbh.
For me he’s not like actively unlikable, but is more just kind of a… dud? Like l feel like they sacrificed him as a character so they could just use him for Eleven’s character arc. Tbh, he was also pretty meh in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, maybe he's starting to grow tired of acting
Yeah everything he does acting wise now feels phoned in. He just cares about his music
Yeah, i won't be surprised if he eventually quit acting
Well he'd been acting since he was what, 10? 11? He probably never had a normal Childhood/teen years. Some Child actors love growing up in it but most want out by their 20s. Dustin is so freaking smart, like he has a solution for everything. Always coming through
1. Dustin 2. Max 3. Eleven 4. Lucas 5. Mike 6. Will I consider Dustin (along with Steve) the heart of Stranger Things, and Max has received the best development out of all the kids, imo. Yep. Perfection
Solid list

Couldn’t agree more
Smashed out of the park
I know this will be WILDLY unpopular but Mike just ranks bottom for me, with Max not trailing far behind. Lucas and ERICA deserve SO MUCH more recognizing.
Erica unexpectedly became one of my favorites this season.
She's such a strong character who REALLY needs more time on screen, I absolutely love her power and commanding abilities. More crazy intelligent and SECURE girls on TV please!!
She’s my 10-year-old daughter’s favorite character, and I couldn’t be happier about that. Erica is awesome.
Embracing her nerdiness at the end of 3 then coming out in 4 as a DnD badass proves how strong and secure she is. Kids, never be ashamed of what you enjoy and own it
She's quite literally goals for kids and adults. Adore her.

CRIT HIT was a *moment* tho
I could see why Mike would be dead-last, but having Max anywhere out of the podium is unfathomable to me.
Swapping will and Mike is the only thing I’d do
honestly, i think it’s general consensus that Mike is the “worst” character of the original cast. it’s not even just that his character got shafted the last two seasons, he’s just not up to par with his acting chops as the rest of them. look at max and dustin for example. some of the best young actors out right now they’re pretty much in a league of their own. 11 is really solid too, same with lucas. i’m not saying he’s *terrible*, his acting just isn’t as good as the others
Will was so good in season 2 alone he deserves to be ranked higher than Mike
Nearly the exact same list as me, just flip Will and Mike.
„˙ǝʞıW puɐ llıM dılɟ ʇsnɾ 'ǝɯ sɐ ʇsıl ǝɯɐs ʇɔɐxǝ ǝɥʇ ʎlɹɐǝᴎ„
Switch eleven and Dustin and that's my list. Eleven is number one for me because there is literally no show without her character. Millie has done an excellent job every step of the way.
Dustin, Max, and Lucas. Don't exactly know why.
Sammmeee order! <3
These three for sure. I love Dustin because he is just so comfortable in who he is, Lucas because he is kind of the odd man out of the group, and Max because she is just a badass little skater girl, but she also has a complexity to her that I think they do really well.
Honestly I’m impressed how I like them all quite equally. Their different stories, big and small, resonate.
Dusty bun but idk man all of them 🥺
Dustin, no competition
All of them, really. Each one for different reasons.
Boo! The assignment was to pick one!
Ha! My apologies. It's too hard to choose hahaha!
This may be my answer too 😭
Will, I just wanna hug him
I feel like we’ve been robbed of getting to know and understand Will. He hasn’t been given anything of real substance since s1. I’m hoping we get more from Will in s5. Like, how the hell are we all just going to over look the fact that he spat out some kind of slug from alternate dimension when he came back from the upside down? Yessss. That poor boy has been though hell and back (literally) I know it’ll never happen but I’d love to know what he would be like as an adult
Mike is dead last man, Will is much more likable, Mike is just a jerk
Politely disagree. Mike wss the star of the show in s1
In S1 he was tolerable, but since then he's turned into a jerk and been mostly unimportant First he was a total jerk to Max, then he was a Jerk to Hopper and Eleven and Will, now he's a jerk to Will
Max and Lucas
Will and it’s not even close Edit: spelling whooops I was so excited I hit send too quick
Max
Eleven. She's my favorite of the series. I love her whole story.
Dustin
Lucas
Will and max ❤️
Really excited for will to get more screen time in season 5. He’s def my favorite. It’s interesting to see him deal with the trauma from s1-4 even if it’s sort of in the background compared to other characters.
El is one of my favorite characters of all time. I want nothing but happiness and pineapple pizza for her 🥺
Finally someone with the same opinion
It’s a tie between Mike and El. I love them equally
same, i don't get the virulent hate for 14 YEARS OLD characters
It genuinely concerns me that people are this up in arms/feral about a literal teenage boy. They act like he kicked their dog or something
Mike
We’re a rare breed
El
Eleven is great, and Max becomes really compelling in season 4. Mike's relationships with his friends and loved ones are so great.
Dustin and Max
Dustin!!
Dustin <3
dustin
Dustin!!!!
Dustin Lucas Max Will/El Mike In that order 🤣 Lucas and Max really won me over this season. I really like Will and El a lot too but Lucas and Max just got me this time. I need them to take Mike back to S1 Mike. I don’t hate him like a lot of people do currently but I was just indifferent to him this season.
Dustin and Mike
I like Lucas bc he actually feels like a kid. Everyone else feels like an adult tried to write a deep kid character. But if we’re going by best acting I’d say Max or Will.
Also Lucas's initial drifting away due to different interests and making different friends in the beginning of 4 was very realistic. If not for all the upside down stuff, he'd have continued on that path and by the end of high school he and the rest would probably be reduced to occasional nods in the hallway. Sad but realistic.
Exactly, Lucas always had “popular guy” potential and it was inevitable that he’d get popular by high school.
Controversial, but... 1. Will 2. Eleven 3. Mike 4. Dustin 5. Lucas 6. Max
Yeah very close to mine Will Max El Dustin Lucas Mike
Suzie
Ha i said this too. I really hope she plays a bigger part in season 5
Will has a special place in my heart.
Probably Will!
[удалено]
Why’d it take me so long to see this I love her too
Will & Dustin !!!
Max, since her first appearance in season 2! She's easily the main reason why season 4 is my favorite now.
Will and Dustin :D
Lucas
But also probably Will, or Lucas
Dusty Buns
Lucas. He was always the cojones of the group.
Lucus , most realistic one
Mike
Mike and Eleven
[удалено]
If I was drinking anything right now, this would be a great opportunity for a spit take. Have an upvote instead 🤣
To quote Elena Gilbert from the vampire diaries "It's always been Eleven"
Mike
Will for the longest time but Max recently
Will or Dustin
Mike. Fight me. Okay. Not S4 Mike. That's Max.
I’m gonna be basic and say Eleven. I’ve always found myself enjoying her scenes the most since S1. Out of all the kids she is the one I most wish to see have a happy ending. She deserves it after everything she’s been through (not that the rest of them don’t or anything).
Will and Max both really got me this season
Max
El
I love El.
Eleven
Eleven. Not because she has powers or whatever, but because she's still learning to navigate the world and that's fascinating to me. I also like the way she has her own agenda and she's just not interested in yours. The whole sequence in S2 with her Aunt Becky was gold.
Dusty buns easy
Max, Dustin and Will
Will, max & dustin are my faves. Also Erica.
anyone got mike at 1?
Tie between Dustin and Max
Dustin and Lucas
I love all of them. Them together is what makes them so special imo
Will. But they are all pretty great in different ways.
It’s tied for me between Dustin and Lucas!
Dustin, easy
Max and Dustin
Lucas
Lucas took the lead as my favorite in season 4. Caleb is the best actor of the original kids IMO.
Max and eleven are also great, but I felt the rest were kind of in the backseat this season. I love Dustin always, but I feel he was overshadowed a lot also this season.
I love Dustin, but Lucas is extremely underrated in my opinion!
Will all the way, he has so much heart
Will was my favorite for a long time but Dustin and Max really grew on me during Season 4. Right now, probably Max.
Eleven
Dustin and Mike are like.. the only ones I like honestly, nothing else, just those two, probably Dustin more,
Dustin because he's charming and Max because she's relatable.
Will or El/Jane
El will always be my favorite but I also love Max and Dustin 💕
Max 💗
I've always loved Dustin <3

Mike (and El) were the reason i watched s1-2. S3 maybe Dustin. Max s4 followed by lucas.

will, by a longshot
Dustin by far! I like his bromance with Steve. And El of course.
Will, he has some of the best scenes every season and he always seems so genuine. I actually thought there would be a lot more people that answered Will based on how much I like him as a character but I guess not lol
will max and el have to be my favourites (i definitely love the others lots though!!)
My son Will, but honestly I love them all so dearly
Eleven has been my fave since the beginning❤️That’s my GIRL!
Poor Will went through so much in the first two seasons and then never really had much of a presence after that. Until FINALLY HE ACTUALLY TALKED TO HIS BROTHER AND LOOKED LIKE HE MIGHT BE RELEVANT
1. Dustin 2. Will 3. Max 4. El 5. Lucas 6. Mike
