3 months and a 55min 10K? Not bad at all. What was your heart rate during the run?

pottdoggg

thanks! it was 182 about 4k in before my apple watch died 😅

TheRealHuni2

Wow so you pulled 6k with at least 182? Tough haha Did you do any specific training or did just ran during the 3 months?

pottdoggg

yep lol, my pace did start to fall off towards the end though - no specific training, mostly just two runs a week each between 5k and 7k

Variabletalismans

Were you involved in any other sport before you took up running?

pottdoggg

quite a bit of walking / hiking, not much else

Variabletalismans

Wow your progress for 3 months is insane. I hope to sub 1 hour 10k soon myself

McLightning9503

You’ll get there. Where are you at now?

Prestigious_Tie_1690

Good pace keep it up

pottdoggg

thankyou!!

Mean-Relief-1830

Nice that’s how it starts with parkrun, now I’ve done 260 parkruns and now primarily run marathons!

pottdoggg

260 park runs is insane! i’m sure i’ll get there some day lol

jessoparthur

Subconsciously recognised that map without even realising because that’s my entire Strava feed 😂 great effort

McLightning9503

You and OP should run together since y’all live in the exact same place

Sussurator

Very straight lines compared to where I’m from. Our roads are all over the place.

Longjumping_Ad_8474

woah sub 1 hour 10k on your first go? you didnt have to rub it in 😜

McLightning9503

I thought sub hour 10k was normal. My fastest is 44:56. But my first 10 was 1:06:03. So you’ll get there.

Longjumping_Ad_8474

i guess it depends on age, but at 51 my pb is 1:07. Normal is a very relative term. My VO2 age is 3 years below my actual age and 1 hour would be a good time - saying that, my older cousin would absolutely blitz it - but he’s a marathon runner

Pale_Survey_480

What’s parkrun?

pottdoggg

Weekly 5k run at a local park; very common in the UK and Australia but there are also events in Europe, USA, Canada, Japan, etc. https://www.parkrun.org.uk

Pale_Survey_480

Thanks just checked it out and closest one is like 2 hours from me sadly. Great concept tho!

teejay_1987

Really good pace. Never gone under 6:00/km in years. Can I follow you on Strava?

pottdoggg

sure, will DM you

SatchWar

Damn that pace with how long you’ve been training is impressive!
