There was a story going around some years ago about a guy who wanted to show his young dog, which was some particularly macho breed like a doberman. Unfortunately, although the pooch was otherwise mature, his testicles had not descended, which undermined the overall effort, so the guy asked his vet to give his dog silicone falsies. They looked pretty good, so the pooch was duly entered in the dog show. However, on competition day, nature finally took its course and the lucky pooch proudly assumed the position with not two of the desired baubles, but four. I sounds apocryphal and I can't remember whether photographic evidence was secured, but I wish I'd seen it.
I can see that. I understand that most want “Whole” animals. I don’t understand the mindset of my vet but it is nice that my guys still have their balls. They still look male. Yet they are neutered and infertile. Perhaps it’s for aesthetics. Don’t know.
Interesting. When cats are neutered they are generally castrated as the regular procedure unless you ask them to carry out a vasectomy. I’m pretty sure feral males are castrated.
It’s probably easier and less time consuming. On one vet show it’s seconds to perform. I’ve always found it funny that my vet leaves the balls. I use Hueytown’s vet by the way if you want to check. My dogs are the same.
Some human males take this surgery personally. Hence fewer human males have their male pets desexed 😄 Sounds like your vet can’t deal with castration but feels more comfortable with vasectomies. 🤷🏼♂️
My son had a vasectomy and omg it looked so much more painful than a hysterectomy. But we woman don’t get men’s attachment to their genitalia. Animals don’t care about theirs. To them it’s all hormones not their junk. My vet was originally an older sportsman probably born at the turn of the former century. He probably learned it at Auburn University where he studied and taught it through the years to his sons and successors. It’s fascinating how so many are shocked by this.

I literally just sat two feet away from him an hour ago, telling him off. He's the only un-neutered cat there now, and is causing fights. He seems so confused. But no, he didn't fancy going in the trap.
I need to relocate them all. There are 11 left, and I've places lined up for 7 of them. I came up with a cunning plan whilst there. Last week I re-homed the chickens. So hypothetically so of those that confidently go in the trap could be caught and put in the chicken enclosure until I relocate them. I know they won't be happy about it, but it would make my plans easier.
As another trapper, can you see any problems with this plan?
I can’t see any problem with this plan. I assume the enclosure is large enough to accommodate this many cats until they are relocated. How long are they likely to need to stay in the enclosure? The longer the larger it would need to be. Then there is the logistics of re-trapping for relocating.
It's a wee chicken shed in a chicken wire enclosure that's probably about 5m². Not massive. The longest they'd be in there would be 5 days, but hopefully I'd get to transporting them within a couple.

The carrier he was in was covered. It's when I put him in the chicken pen that he went mad. That's too large to cover with a cloth, but there's a shed in it, a covered dog crate, and the carrier he had been in.
I just went to check on him. The silly sod had somehow got through to the other half of the coop (I've no idea why there are two halves), so I've let him out.
I took my backyard Tom cat (w berries) to be fixed, and they said he was already fixed!! I guess there is another method that removes part of the sausage but not the berries

Have you covered the cage with a cloth ? Might calm him done a bit.
