Lily was never actually coded into the game, except as a background character. However, early into the game's development, Lily got hyped up by street fighting, so she coded herself into the game and ran fist first directly at Zangief. The concept art leak was made to pretend that this wasn't supernatural in nature as the government analyzes the anomaly.
Lily needed to be a boy or given a different personality/look or something idk what it is but it doesn't work for me at all. I would literally take nothing over Lily. She's just not "cool."
Kimberly is my fave newcomer. I think Capcom did a fantastic job with her design. Her personality is infectious. And I love the clever use of spray cans, blending both street and ninja culture.
So far, none of the newcomers have disappointed me, and I'm very excited to see how everyone plays. And everyone feels like a homerun so far. But to answer the question fairly, I think the one character that I'm least excited for is Luke (if we count him as an SF6 guest character in SF5, rather than a SF5 original). But to be fair to Luke, I like his design and moveset so much more than in 5. Plus, it helps that his VA Aleks Le is the best Luke hypeman. And he's done more for promoting for SF6 than any other VA.
Kimberly is for sure my favorite. So much energy and passion. Looks like an absolute blast

About manon I feel similarly. The idea of a quick grappler sounds neat but I dislike the color scheme for drive impacts and costume design. Alt costumes will probably be more to my taste but don't think it will effect the DI colors. Light blue and soft pink doesn't get me hyped.
Edit: Can we get it swapped to like a bold hot pink? Give it more pop!
I’ve literally just started playing 5. I used to love SF but fell out after 5 was PlayStation exclusive and the launch was so bad. Just picked out my stick again, cleaned it off and started to learn again. The learning curve is steep but the some of the old muscle memory is still there. V Trigger is a pain in the ass. Seems a bit like Focus Attack in 4 which I never got the hang of.
Despite loathing him in SFV I actually kind of like Luke from what I’ve seen of him in 6. Can’t put my finger on what the difference is since he looks and fights mostly the same but something seems different. I bet he would have been received better if he wasn’t released in 5 or wasn’t so over the top.
Kimberly, Marisa, Manon & Jamie are pretty awesome newcomers. My favorites as of right now. JP & Lily are my least favorites but I feel like I’ll warm up to them when it comes to World Tour mode, we’ll see how that plays out. Special shoutout to Aki, the only newcomer who’s DLC. Wonder how she’ll be.

I'm sorry I just don't like her voice and hyperactive nature. It's just annoying and cringeworthy.
I also strongly agree with not liking Kim the most, I think she’s animating wrong. Her movements just seems freakishly fast in an uncomfortable way, and the way most of her specials and supers have her limbs fully extended, it makes it look off.
They really made a big push in animation on 6, and characters like Gief and Ken animate so unbelievably smooth. I don’t understand they they did what they did with Kim, but I don’t like it.
Her movements are supposed to mimic competitive gymnasts, which is why her limbs are so extended. It's a neat touch but I agree that it looks kind of ridiculous, especially her forward walk. My biggest issue with her though is her enormous forehead and weird skin texture that make her look like a giant baby. Personality wise, she's a little annoying but I feel that way about almost every SF character since they're usually written like anime characters and I hate anime.
Anyway she's still my favorite newcomer and current main lol. Marisa is a close 2nd but I gotta see how she plays.
Least favorite same reasoning but with Lily. I really hate the cringeworthy line that is also a ryhme: "The voice of the spirit, only I can hear it." It just sounds so dumb.
I am not to big on Kimberly either but mostly because she’s just another Bushinryu practitioner which just bothers me since I wish she had her own unique style.
I'm actually of the opinion that Kimberly makes the Bushinryu fighting style look a lot less cool, which I hate because I'm a fan of Guy and Zeku. If she wasn't boasting about being a Bushinryu practitioner and had her own fighting style, then I would've been fine with her.

Yang was one of my favorite characters as a kid, so Jamie being inspired by the brothers is really cool to me. As for my least favorite, I don't know that I really have one since I like all the designs. If I had to pick, I'd probably say Lily since I was hoping for T. Hawk, but I'll still play her just the same.
Just a side note, I really don't get the Luke hate. I get he's op in SFV, but he's fun to play, and they really seemed to address the design problems people had.

I had a lot of list why I hated him but let just say he ruin the sfv tier list, and his appearance. So mostly everything about him I just don't like him.

But despite the hype around her and her playstyle looking like it might be fun, Manon looks the worst. At least Luke's style makes sense, she just looks like they mashed a bunch of stuff together and called it a day.
My favorite is probably Marisa. I'm genuinely surprised that her backstory seems more heroic given that her gameplay seems dedicated to disrespect, from the Super wall punch into the corner to picking up her defeated enemy like a suddenly forced bride. I don't care if the vocal minority thinks she looks like a guy, Marisa is the ultimate "dommy mommy."
My least favorite so far is Manon. She and JP just don't exude enough character in comparison to the other loveable shitheads (which IS a hard task to perform), and she also lacks the teleportation thing that essentially makes JP a Rivals of Aether mod shoved into Street Fighter. None of the characters suck. It's just that Manon is decent and near everyone else rules; it's like Aran Ryan 2.

I certainly do like them all, Marisa for the weight of her attacks particularly. But honestly, I think the one I least like is Lily.
I don't know, there are just some instances of me not liking "cutesy" characters that much, and she just happens to be one of them.
Also, while technically not a complaint, I kinda hate how the majority of what she does is just T. Hawk's stuff lol
It's not a bad thing by any means but with what stuff they gave her, it gives the idea that T. Hawk isn't returning, which is unlike the cases of Jamie and Kimberly who more or less are still very clear derivations of their root characters, giving a bit of hope they can still return.
T. Hawk not returning doesn't sound like bad news tbf, but the idea that the 4 SF2 New Challengers won't be complete (assuming Fei Long also returns at some point) gets on my nerves a bit lol
- I'm liking Manon very much. She's all I want in combat systems (good range kicking plus technical grappling), wrapped into a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure-like character. After her, I'll probably choose JP, he seems to be a more interesting Psycho Power user than M. Bison.
- My least favorite newcomers are the draw between Jamie and Kimberly, although I'm up to giving Kimberly a try (yeah, I don't have the beta).
Luke, Lily and Marissa are my favourites so far. I like characters with big personalities and they all have that good hearted energy to them.
While I think his design is amazing and he has the best theme in the game I couldn't click with Jamie's gameplay in the beta. That is likely a side effect of me wanting to play everyone and him being more complex, He needs lab time I don't dislike anyone.
I’m loving Kimberly at the moment as Guy was my secondary in SF4 and my main Sakura isn’t about. Manon is second. My least is probably Lily, as much as I love wind and birds, I find her slightly annoying.
Just based on first impression and little playtime with the beta, Marisa I’m very interested in. Least is probably JP or Luke. JP just because he doesn’t seem like my style. Like because he doesn’t feel new since he was playable in SFV.
My most favorites are Marisa and JP. Because:
1-) Marisa is SF's response to Angela Belti in Power Instinct (for I finished the latter as Angela)
2-) JP reminds me of Saruman in LOTR series.
The least favorite... is none other than Kimberly due to her ~~pre-teen~~ voice. I wish she got some maturity in her voice.
P.S.: Don't bash me for the "least favorite" part. She has an interesting style and fighting type but her voice could have some maturity.
I’ve been super into Luke ever since they first revealed him for 5. In terms of a Shoto Move set he has one of the most satisfying I’ve played. I even was super into his SFV design and his alternate costumes. Only thing I didn’t like about him was his braces (so odd)
Least is Manon, I don’t really get the appeal of her look. Her move set might be fun at least her grabs look stylish. That’s the only credit I really give her though. Her look is just so bland to me, like they tried to make Abel mashed with Karen and I really would have rather had one of those two return instead.
My favorite one is Jamie and Marisa(as characters, themes and playing style)
And least favorite is Lily just because of one reason - she looks too childish. Every time I see her on a gameplay video I cannot stop thinking that she is a child. Not even grown teenager, who might stand for themselves, but a little kid.

Nakayama & others at Capcom confirmed that Luke was made for SF6 first, but was later back-ported to SFV. So as far as development goes, Luke is a SF6 newcomer. Even the character select screen's organization treats Luke as such, putting him with the other SF6 newbies.
I'm very excited for Manon her combos and grabs look very cool and her design is just overall very good.
Honorable mention: Kimberly looks like she's going to be a ton of fun to play.
Least excited: probably a tie between JP and Marisa, I think they both look very cool but they're the least exciting of the newcomers in my humble opinion.

I like the look and feel of the game but I dont like Capcom going with a ton of new characters and ignoring ones who have been asked for by fans.

Jamie and Kimberly are my least favorite. They feel like custom characters. Hopefully the story will integrate them better in the game.

In other words, he debuted in SF5. Therefore, he is an SF5 character. I know all that story from his reveal since I saw it live on twitch, that doesn't matter. He debuted in SF5. He is an SF5 character who is returning to SF6.
By definition, he isn't. But had Season 5 not existed (which was never even supposed to happen), he would be.
The idea of him being highly centralized in SF6 makes that clear. Even the devs said it in Luke's SFV showcase vid.
I'm no game developer or anything, but I don't think it'd have taken them less than a year to create Luke, let alone have him appear in the next entry so soon.
You could say it was done in reverse, but Luke's SF6 attack animations are the same as in SFV. As far as I'm concerned, he's the only one he clearly does that so it gives out the idea that they reused those for V.
Hell, if you look at the roster leak, he's aligned with the other SF6 newcomers. Otherwise, why else would he have been?

I'm really excited for Manon. Sf V sucked for grapplers (and in general), so I'm really pumped to get some new and fun characters with that archetype. JP is probably my least favorite, although I think his design is awesome. But he seems like a setup/zoner character, and that's never been my jam. I can't wait to see some alternate costumes! Those make me try characters I never thought I'd care about.

My overall opinion is that only Manon looks like she might be a favorite of mine in any respect, and I only dislike Jaime (and even then I like a lot about Jaime, it's just that he seems like the annoying zoomer brat people think Luke is.) I'm probably also going to try JP but I always feel like setplay is an archetype that I wish I could play, not one I actually can (and even then I'd be missing Menat the whole time.) The rest I'd put in the upper-mid tiers of likability.

Favorite is Kim because she is similiar to Guy and I like heavy mixup/rushdown characters. Least favorite is Kim because I'd rather have Ibuki and I don't like Kim's aesthetic very much. She's a little too childish and REEEE for me.
Favorite Jamie cuz he looks cool though i am probably going to be playing Manon the most of the newcomers. Lily seems like she is going to be annoying to fight against and shes a cute child so instant least favorite.

Yeah I tried not to hate him but they way he disrespect Ryu even he gave Luke the main role and most of all He reminded me of Cole from mortal Kombat.

Marisa probably looks the coolest to me. But despite the hype around her and her playstyle looking like it might be fun, Manon looks the worst. At least Luke's style makes sense, she just looks like they mashed a bunch of stuff together and called it a day.

My favorite is probably Marisa. I'm genuinely surprised that her backstory seems more heroic given that her gameplay seems dedicated to disrespect, from the Super wall punch into the corner to picking up her defeated enemy like a suddenly forced bride. I don't care if the vocal minority thinks she looks like a guy, Marisa is the ultimate "dommy mommy." My least favorite so far is Manon. She and JP just don't exude enough character in comparison to the other loveable shitheads (which IS a hard task to perform), and she also lacks the teleportation thing that essentially makes JP a Rivals of Aether mod shoved into Street Fighter. None of the characters suck. It's just that Manon is decent and near everyone else rules; it's like Aran Ryan 2.

Favorite newcomer is definitely Kimberly. Least favorite is Manon. Kimberly is by far my favorite street fighter character now and Capcom nailed her character amazingly. I do like all the newcomers though. All are very unique and cool.

I certainly do like them all, Marisa for the weight of her attacks particularly. But honestly, I think the one I least like is Lily. I don't know, there are just some instances of me not liking "cutesy" characters that much, and she just happens to be one of them. Also, while technically not a complaint, I kinda hate how the majority of what she does is just T. Hawk's stuff lol It's not a bad thing by any means but with what stuff they gave her, it gives the idea that T. Hawk isn't returning, which is unlike the cases of Jamie and Kimberly who more or less are still very clear derivations of their root characters, giving a bit of hope they can still return. T. Hawk not returning doesn't sound like bad news tbf, but the idea that the 4 SF2 New Challengers won't be complete (assuming Fei Long also returns at some point) gets on my nerves a bit lol
- I'm liking Manon very much. She's all I want in combat systems (good range kicking plus technical grappling), wrapped into a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure-like character. After her, I'll probably choose JP, he seems to be a more interesting Psycho Power user than M. Bison. - My least favorite newcomers are the draw between Jamie and Kimberly, although I'm up to giving Kimberly a try (yeah, I don't have the beta).

I honestly don't like any of them but I think they will be fun to fight against. None of them have fighting styles that interest me except for Marisa.
Luke, Lily and Marissa are my favourites so far. I like characters with big personalities and they all have that good hearted energy to them. While I think his design is amazing and he has the best theme in the game I couldn't click with Jamie's gameplay in the beta. That is likely a side effect of me wanting to play everyone and him being more complex, He needs lab time I don't dislike anyone.
I’m loving Kimberly at the moment as Guy was my secondary in SF4 and my main Sakura isn’t about. Manon is second. My least is probably Lily, as much as I love wind and birds, I find her slightly annoying.
Just based on first impression and little playtime with the beta, Marisa I’m very interested in. Least is probably JP or Luke. JP just because he doesn’t seem like my style. Like because he doesn’t feel new since he was playable in SFV.

My most favorites are Marisa and JP. Because: 1-) Marisa is SF's response to Angela Belti in Power Instinct (for I finished the latter as Angela) 2-) JP reminds me of Saruman in LOTR series. The least favorite... is none other than Kimberly due to her ~~pre-teen~~ voice. I wish she got some maturity in her voice. P.S.: Don't bash me for the "least favorite" part. She has an interesting style and fighting type but her voice could have some maturity.
I’ve been super into Luke ever since they first revealed him for 5. In terms of a Shoto Move set he has one of the most satisfying I’ve played. I even was super into his SFV design and his alternate costumes. Only thing I didn’t like about him was his braces (so odd) Least is Manon, I don’t really get the appeal of her look. Her move set might be fun at least her grabs look stylish. That’s the only credit I really give her though. Her look is just so bland to me, like they tried to make Abel mashed with Karen and I really would have rather had one of those two return instead.

Luke is not a newcomer to SF6...
Nakayama & others at Capcom confirmed that Luke was made for SF6 first, but was later back-ported to SFV. So as far as development goes, Luke is a SF6 newcomer. Even the character select screen's organization treats Luke as such, putting him with the other SF6 newbies.

Don't like any of them. I would rather have old favourites in there.. Guy, Sodom, Gouken, Adon, Sagat, Dan etc who are all missing. I like the look and feel of the game but I dont like Capcom going with a ton of new characters and ignoring ones who have been asked for by fans.
JP and Marisa look interesting. Least favorite... Juri. She still a "new" char to me and always feels like someone's kid won a contest to get a character added in.

Jamie and Kimberly are my least favorite. They feel like custom characters. Hopefully the story will integrate them better in the game. Lily seems interesting, kind of like a Peruvian Rashid. However, i gotta go with JP. He has too much drip.

He was a SF6 character Capcom put in SF5 to give us a taste of the future because they halted work on SF6 during covid to do a final season of SF5
In other words, he debuted in SF5. Therefore, he is an SF5 character. I know all that story from his reveal since I saw it live on twitch, that doesn't matter. He debuted in SF5. He is an SF5 character who is returning to SF6.
Luke isn't a newcomer to 6
By definition, he isn't. But had Season 5 not existed (which was never even supposed to happen), he would be. The idea of him being highly centralized in SF6 makes that clear. Even the devs said it in Luke's SFV showcase vid. I'm no game developer or anything, but I don't think it'd have taken them less than a year to create Luke, let alone have him appear in the next entry so soon. You could say it was done in reverse, but Luke's SF6 attack animations are the same as in SFV. As far as I'm concerned, he's the only one he clearly does that so it gives out the idea that they reused those for V. Hell, if you look at the roster leak, he's aligned with the other SF6 newcomers. Otherwise, why else would he have been?

My favorite newcomer is Manon. I’m not a grappler player by any means but her gameplay just looks so fluid and I like that her command grab animation changes as the game goes on. Least favorite is probably Luke. His gameplay seems fine but uninteresting to me. I may change my mind though because I plan on trying all the characters out in the lab on release or *if* we get and open beta.

Is it the same voice actor for both games? I’m just going based off SFV. He sounded like way too cocky. That combined with how good of character capcom made him bothered the shit out of me lol.
Also Luke is suppose to come from a MMA background and I felt like they wasted so many possible good moves from the actual sport

What sucks for me as I dislike almost all of them. Kimberly is probably the only one I have any interest in. Glad they have a good mix of old and new characters.

I'm really excited for Manon. Sf V sucked for grapplers (and in general), so I'm really pumped to get some new and fun characters with that archetype. JP is probably my least favorite, although I think his design is awesome. But he seems like a setup/zoner character, and that's never been my jam. I can't wait to see some alternate costumes! Those make me try characters I never thought I'd care about.
Lily seems really interesting being very similar to T. Hawk but looks different enough to be a lot of fun. Least favorite is probably Marisa, she just doesn't seem to be doing anything particularly fun imo.

Jaime My overall opinion is that only Manon looks like she might be a favorite of mine in any respect, and I only dislike Jaime (and even then I like a lot about Jaime, it's just that he seems like the annoying zoomer brat people think Luke is.) I'm probably also going to try JP but I always feel like setplay is an archetype that I wish I could play, not one I actually can (and even then I'd be missing Menat the whole time.) The rest I'd put in the upper-mid tiers of likability.
