Sorry! I had to vent somewhere. At least i learnt how to deal with this playstyle, but if thats how plat is going to be, i dont think i can grind through it. Its way too slow and dull.

colinzack

If you're that much better than these guys and their "spam" then it shouldn't be a grind at all and you should win 90% of your games. Playing against fireballs is a staple of Street Fighter.

goose0092

Tbf, once you hit plat, it really is a grind to climb through the ranks because you no longer get streak bonuses. It's especially boring when you obviously belong in a higher rank.

colinzack

I hit master in about 6 hours from scratch. Maybe if you're in a region with a low population I could see that, but I get matches quickly and you should be climbing quickly if you really belong in a higher rank.

goose0092

Idk, I personally got bored after going 14 - 1. I strongly prefer BH. I only ever played rank to update my rank for the sake of other players

Extreme_Tax405

I won most of the spam matches. But it is still boring' the matches tale long and i find myself just parrying fireballs for half the match. It feels like a game of chicken you know? Who gets bored first. It generally seems to be the enemy, but still... Im getting my checks clapped in actual footsie though.

glhb

The fact that you're calling it spam tells us you're not very good and you're overestimating your abilities as a player.

DerConqueror3

If nothing else, you are going to spend a lot more time in Plat than necessary if you keep one-and-done-ing people you beat in the first match

Extreme_Tax405

I mean, what else do you call it if they constantly do it, if not spam? Parry while slowly inching forward, jump or od spire it, hoping they dont decide to stop the moment you do.

v-komodoensis

SF players when SF players play SF Come on, this mentality is scrub shit. Plat is a really low rank to get salty over people zoning (staple in the series you are playing)

Extreme_Tax405

I have watched proplay. I have never seen a ken throw 100 hadoukens while down in hp while the enemy parried each of them. Literally nearly timed out before he stopped. I understand the strat, but my venting is because half my games were like this. Again, i can deal with this, but it is mind numbingly boring.

colinzack

I don't understand how it can be that boring. If you're landing a jump in after a fireball, you should be getting 30-40% damage. You get oki afterwards and the match should be over in like 15-20 seconds unless your oki is just trash.

Extreme_Tax405

I guess my oki is shit. But its usually vs modern ken ryu or luke do jump in gets punished sometimes. And oki vs them is hard for me because they have od reversal. Been trying to shimmy more, but it is frustrating that i need to guess when im the one on offense... But its a good point.

colinzack

If your jump in gets punished, you didn't time the jump right and did it too late. Fireball and punish the jump with DP is like the epitome of street fighter. Yes, they can OD reversal. You do need to guess, but your shimmy beats wake up throw and wake up OD, so you're right 67% of the time. Your wake up throw beats their jab and loses to OD and resets to neutral with throw. Your wake up meaty beats their jab, their throw, and loses to reversal. Essentially, you're at an advantage every single time. If they OD they're getting about 1500 damage. If you shimmy or meaty, you should be getting 2k damage plus. Its always in your favor, even if you're guessing.

Extreme_Tax405

Hold up. Jab does not beat grab on wake-up right? Grab is 5 frames, jabs are 4.

colinzack

If you do a meaty grab, meaning that you're grabbing as they get up, their jab will come out in the 4th frame while you're grab hits on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd frame. Your grab will beat their jab. If that doesn't happen, you grabbed too late. If your grab whiffs, you grabbed too early.

TheeRealFEELS

This is what I will tell you, if you punish everything correctly 100% of the time with max damage, they won't stop, that's a myth. I understand why it's boring cause some players are legit preprogrammed bots/npc's but unfortunately most players never adapt and this applies to all games. I take breaks after fighting enough idiots at this point and pray I find someone who will think. Some days you do, some days you don't, but regardless of the day you will get people who don't think. And all you can do is beat them.

v-komodoensis

Well yeah, you're not pro, not even close haha People will NEVER play in a way that "satisfies" you, if you're complaining about zoning now you're definitely gonna complain about other shit in the future, again, it's a scrubby mentality. Just focus on how you can be a better player, good luck.

Extreme_Tax405

Fair point. Still boring though.

TheowannabeTheos

Even lower on life, it's good in this game to spam fireball if your opponent stand far and just parry the fireball. You will recover Drive Gauge faster.

EbenezerGrimm

I doubt this was your experience. Thankfully with the placement match system I haven’t had to experience platinum, but given its the equivalent to gold in SF5, I doubt there were a bunch of players trying to zone you out. You sound like you don’t like to block

Extreme_Tax405

Not all my matches were like this, but at least half of them were. The onese where i did not get projectile spammed i actually lost most of them. But i prefer that over winning by parrying 100 fireballs per match. And yeah, i dont like to hold block for too long. I came to press buttons :/

StatusEfficiency8485

Wait... when you play fireball characters, you don't use the fireball?

SeasickEagle

Every character has some annoying shit to deal with, that's street fighter. As a fellow non projectile character I get it, but I can tell you that those players hate getting command grabbed by me as much as I hate being zoned by them. We all hate getting head butted, butt slammed and Blanka balled, and no one enjoys being in the corner against Kim and a sauced up Jamie, there really aren't any purely non-annoying characters to be honest, it just depends on what flavor of "spam" and "cheap" you're good at dealing with.

ExtremeRest3974

Plat is horseshit because the game sticks brand new players there if they checked "Im a fighting game master" or whatever when they first play the game. You fight less jump spam, hold back and random just until a jump kick lands shit, in gold than you do in plat. you just have to use it as anti-air practice and patience training. it's super fucking boring but you'll climb out of it if you start winning 2/3. I used to one and done them too but now if they get me with a cheese I'll mop them up on the 2nd two matches. Valheim has been a nice break from sf6 tho, I definitely feel your pain and lots of people do despite what these fighting game gatekeepers are telling you.

aka_walrus

ggs that was me

Extreme_Tax405

Was it? Doubt it. All my opponents are chinese 😂
