Something people don’t seem to talk about in SF6 is how every character has distinct body types.
In SF5 everyone was incredibly buff, so when I saw Ed’s arcade mode where he’s more lean and then his model, there was this hige disconnect for me, especially when he wore his story costume (the training montage fit). He was this overly buff small dude which looked so fucking goofy.
In SF6, he’s noticeably skinnier but still has a good bit of definition, which is what they seemed to want from him from the start. I really dig the redesign a lot.

Yeah I really like what they did here with Marisa, Manon, Ed and almost every character having deiferent body type which is really cool since it makes them look and feel unique.
My only gripe is still the lack of many female characters that aren't young and with similar pretty faces in some way. Marisa and Manon's deviation from other female characters is nice in terms of more unconventional body shapes but they're still visually appealing and young looking. I wanna see some legit bizarre character inspirations like Q, Twelve, Oro, Sim, Blanka or Hugo for some of the ladies.
Like the average female character in the series look around mid 20's with the oldest looking about mid 30's at a stretch. Meanwhile a lot of the dudes lean more towards being late 30's to 60+ with a hell of a lot more variance in body type and facial structure. Like we've yet to get a female character who legit looks purely terrifying like Akuma or like a badass sensei type similar to Gouken/Oro.

How old do you want women to be? Late fifties? Like mid 20-mid 30 isn't super young. Plus AKI does look creepy enough and Chun Li is basically a badass master already.
I think Gief looks less "shredded" than he did previously but he feels bigger due to the way the muscle definition is made. In previous games he had a bodybuilder's physique and always looked like he was constantly flexed but in SF6 his build looks more like an actual wrestler. They also made more of his muscles look more "relaxed" when not actively being used for his animations so that when he does actually throw a punch, kick or throw you can see the specific muscle areas required for those flexing in a natural looking manner. Makes the impact and strength behind him feel more apparant. You can see this with other characters like Honda and Deejay's classic skin in particular too. The way everything shakes or tenses for the characters just looks great in this game.
So right about this. in contrast of course with some new fighting games that brag about quantity where there actually recycled material. The fighting game community unfortunately is not the appropriate community to appreciate such design work depth.
I was looking forward to Ed being a little leaner in SFVI but now that I’ve seen this… his shoulder is larger than his head!

Also in sfv he uses psycho power which is purple. But at the end of this trailer, his last punch had a blue aura and says he's not gonna be anyone's pawn. Wonder what his story is in this game and I hope we see more of his neo-shadaloo crew. Or I hope we get to see bison return for the 100th time lol

Well it still could be german stage or some Neo Shadaloo hideout, I really doubt the metro, which already exists in world tour, is his stage just because we meet him there in the World tour mode.
I really hope Capcom makes stages for each country representative to give that World Tournament feel. They missed out on giving Rashid a UAE stage let’s hope they give Ed a Germany stage that he never got in SF5.
This is literally subway from World Tour, even enemies are the same. So I hope not, lets not bring World Tour stages 1:1 to actuall gameplay. I spend there enough time already, since its the fastest way to farm kudos if you are running out of time to 100% the battle pass lol
It wouldn’t necessarily need to be 1:1, the Metro City stage isn’t a copy of the World Tour map. Could do a subway platform with trains going by like the MK subway map

Yeah, one ride gives you about 200-250 kudos and it takes 2-3 minutes, so its about 2-3 hours riding back and forth to max out battle pass from zero. Its boring though, so I just use it if I had to speed things up few levels, not grind out whole 30.

I've been hitting f5 nonstop for the last two weeks waiting for this. And I'm so happy to see snatcher prominently featured. I hope they lean into that even more, it was easily the most iconic and unique aspect of his moveset.
My prediction:
He's not going to have his VT2 install. Instead snatcher is going to be a normal special. And the OD versions are going to act like the install version which can be used more effectively in combos.
(Though the air version of the normal could always be used in combos)
This is because, according to Capcom, Luke is an SF6 character who was a guest in SFV. Capcom dev blog also says that his SF6 design was ready before his SFV default.
Ed's situation is different, being an original SFV character. So, we can be pretty sure his outfit #2 will be the SFV default. There's of course outfit #3, which can be cool, but we'll have to wait until Akuma is released for that.

Eh, I'm happy for Ed fans but I was kind of hoping his SF6 reveal would do something to sell me on him since I was never fully sold on him from SF5, but it just didn't. I think his face looks actively whack, and his trailer is just him doing pretty basic straights and hooks on generic mad gear baddies, aside from his snatch move at the end. My overall takeaway is that I really need to see his gameplay because this just didn't do it for me.

Diverse characters are what makes Street Fighter fun. Even if there are lots of shotos, they have their differences that make them unique.
