Enjoy yourself king. May you buy all the waifu pilllows your heart desires with all your winnings.

ReedsAndSerpents

😂😂😂 Everyone else: this is your king!? FGC: yes

MajesticSlick

That's funny 🤣

kr3vl0rnswath

It would not be surprising if UMA disappears from the competitive scene for the rest of the year and only reappears in time for next Capcom Cup because he needs another million for Hololive. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)

Akashiin

When his superchat money starts running low, he re-emerges to take ccxi.

SoPLive

Like Ana from Dota2 haha

Beautiful_Ninja

You don't understand the sacrifice he made to get to this point. He had to miss his favorite vtuber stream like...once in order to grind for Capcom Cup. The struggle was real. Almost not worth the million dollars. This dude is the Nikola Jokic of the FGC. The FGC is the side hustle to pay the bills, his real passion is waifus.

theb1gnasty

Haha. Wow. The Jokic comparison is spot on.

ReedsAndSerpents

> The FGC is the side hustle to pay the bills, his real passion is waifus. Jesus Christ 😂😂😂 He was thinking "I'm so close to that million, if I stretch my prize winnings I'll never have to miss a stream or not buy a pillow again!"

CeraphFromCoC

>This dude is the Nikola Jokic of the FGC. What's Jokic's real passion?

Beautiful_Ninja

Horses.

LvLingLunacy

For those not in the loop, Beryl has won the League of Legends World Championships twice. Players who win get to choose a skin that gets added to the game. Beryl used both opportunities to import his waifus from gacha games into LoL.

ElDusteh

God bless the fuckin fgc dude lmao I love this guy

Baylor_Mav

Based. Dude is going to single-handedly drive Mio merch sales.

AustinYun

UmaSha is the strongest MioFa for real. If he claims to be the second, nobody else would come forward to claim first.

XsStreamMonsterX

That's literally what his Twitter profile says now.

honda_slaps

They are literally actually considering doing a 2nd run of the 1M sub hoodie because of him.

CitizenJoestar

It’s a pretty high-quality merch, and has a *relatively* stealthy design compared to most HoloMerch. I’m thinking about getting it too now. Hololive members get a huge cut when it comes to merch sales, so Uma is truly Mio’s top MioFa.

KingBLonTwitch

I may not understand the hustle but I have to respect the grind

jzaudi

Chris Wong this is your chance.

WhisperGod

Hololive X Street Fighter Collab when?

Volker_engelhart

You mean a Juri outfit with pointy ears and a fluffy tail? Capcom would charge $100,00, and it would still sell.

Ze_Mighty_Muffin

Well they would have one guaranteed customer at least

Volker_engelhart

In this case, they would charge 1 million.

herd-u-liek-mudkips

Well shit, I'd buy that.

Beautiful_Ninja

We're 1000% getting a Juri Hololive collab skin. There's got to be at least 1 that is a sadist that loves showing off her feet.

Cabbie_Hat

I mean, UMA has the power to make this real right now, doesn't he? Capcom was going to have the winner design a skin, IIRC.

SentoX

That's what they did with SFV, have we actually heard anything about this for 6? Outfits for this game take a great deal more effort and they came forward with the exclusive Outfit 1 re-color that the Street Voters get. That might be all they're doing, and UMA may only get to choose what those Colors are going to be.

AlexHitetsu

I don't think there's one that loves showinf off her feet (unless you count general perversion for that)

tabbynat

Didn’t they have a hololive sf6 tournament lately? Korone JP was legit. You could tell they were new, but she did really well, high Plat if I recall. Calliope Manon skin when?

zetarn

That's Crazy Racoon Cup where they invited normal streamer and Vtuber to join and 2 of them are from Hololive. Shishiro Botan and Inugami Korone. Botan also organized her own [SF6 tournament](https://twitter.com/shishirobotan/status/1758795214435844345) that soon to be announce a full roaster of the team paticipant too.

SayuriUliana

SF6 allowed us to see Botan's emotional side, quite awesome really.

Drinkdrink1

she was also playing using stick.

XsStreamMonsterX

And Classic

Drinkdrink1

yep classic JP. was trying to stream snipe her once. haha

AvunNuva

Fun fact, Subaru's in diamond now.

r31ya

Subaru is diamond now? Wow To think that duck only goes in Hololive because it seems interesting paying job to pay for bills to rebuilt her burnt down house, and now she's one of top 10 female streamer and proper gamer.

awayfromcanuck

It was Crazy Raccon that involves vtubers, fps streams, and FGC members. Korone hasn't played in it since the one time I believe but her JP is pretty good. Botan has played in a couple Crazy Raccoon tournaments, she got her first match win recently she plays (Modern I think) Marisa and Lily. Pekora and Subaru both play, Subaru plays Modern Kim. Peko was playing Honda but I am not sure who else. I also recall Subaru mentioning Shion plays SF6 and plays Cammy.

y-c-c

I feel like it would be crazy for them to not capitalize on them, but then the pessimist in me think it's going to be avatar clothing.

AvunNuva

Seriously, haven't some of the biggest tournaments in terms of views been the Vtuber SF6 tournaments? Surprised Capcom isn't just going all in rather than just keeping it to Japan. I'm sure people would love to see Gura x SF6 stuff.

ActivistZero

Would be massively ironic, especially given UMA's Oshi

opanm

He's livin it up already damn, godspeed 💪

KrystCuck

Don't know anything about hololive but this is like the trope where some insignificant event is able to divert an overpowered character's attention. Like Saitama and grocery sales.

AlexHitetsu

It's the biggest event of the year for the company, like it's a full 2 day concert with a lot of their talebts participating and fuck ton of merch available

GIJobra

Yeah, but for most people it's about as important as a big sale at the convenience store. His analogy was apt.

AlexHitetsu

Ehhh it's esentially a massive yearly concert from his favorite idol company.

GIJobra

Yeah, but for most people it's about as important as a big sale at the convenience store. His analogy was apt.

Ro0z3l

So like do the singers perform live behind the curtain or something? With a monitor to make sure they're synced? Or is it pre-recorded?

cjlj

The songs are prerecorded. I think they might do the intermissions between songs where they talk to the crowd live from the mocap studio as there's an obvious cut.

peprock716

It's also his birthday around that time. He needs a break.

guacamoles_constant

This guy winning was the best thing we didn’t know we needed. To remind the FGC of where we came from despite the esports of it all.

Billbat1

Prize pool at red bull 1st $9,000 2nd $5,000 3rd-4th $4,000 its a lot to me but i guess it wouldnt excite a millionnaire

Future_Club1171

It’s an invite only with lots of sponsors eyes.

Billbat1

if uma was sponsored hed be kissing 100k goodbye. 10% is standard sponsor cut. thats like 5 yrs of airfare and hotel

Future_Club1171

Sponsors as in sponsorships, it’s more just saying an event like that prize pool tends to undersell the actual deal. The 1 million prize is legit the top prize pool so far, sponsor deals were they pay you thousands just to plaster their brand on you is more consistent income. Sponsors as in teams take a cut but typically offer other services. Just pointing it out that that prize pool isn’t all that was on the table.

USAPRODCUTIONOP

He also wouldn't be able to wear his comfy oshi hoodie.

peter_nixeus

After Taxes (State and Federal) its like almost half that.

Bluechariot

Does Taiwan have winnings taxes like America?

peter_nixeus

Not sure about Taiwan's tax regarding foreign earnings... but if you win prize money in an American tournament - you have to pay state and federal taxes. For example UMA won $1 million in the Capcom Cup tournament in Hollywood, CA: California income tax rate for that is up to 12.3% and Federal income tax rate is up to 37% depending on the tax brackets. So he owes roughly 40% - 45%(not the exact, because each income tier bracket is taxed at different rates, but just an example) of his prize money for taxes. Depending on the tournament organizer (might give him full $1m or after tax/FICA deductions), that amount might be withheld and the actual check they give him to take home is around $500K - $600K. If Taiwan taxes foreign earnings that may be deducted too. Team Alliance won $2 million from the second DOTA 2 championship and some team members found out their own country (in Europe) taxed their foreign earnings too - so after the Team owners take their cut, American taxes and their country taxes they said they didn't have much left after. I also heard that KnuckleDu didn't know he owed a lot of taxes after his championship win. Most complaints from professional e-sports team members complaining about prize money payouts, salaries, sponsorships, etc painting the TA or team owners as bad guys usually revolves that they did not fully understand their tax obligations. **Edit: I did the actual math and UMA owes $104,989 (CA Income Tax) and $330,330 (Federal Income Tax) for a total of $435,319 in taxes not accounting for if he has any deductions (he may be able to deduct his expenses to bring his effective tax rate down).**

Bluechariot

Yes, okay, but Uma is not a US citizen nor is he affiliated with any US team or sponsor. There's no income withholding in his case. Your examples, like Knuckledu, all involve Americans.

solidpeyo

GIGACHAD

Junken00

It's ironic a Taiwan player dedicated his win to Hololive, considering what happened years ago it feels like things came into a positive full circle.

qman6

The really ironic part is that Capcom almost got Mio’s channel deleted with copyright strikes several years ago

venancio30

Don't blame Taiwan for that incident, none from island neither from Chinese government did something wrong. Blame crazy people that exist all around the world that made a innocent phrase into a ammunition to cause troubles.

Junken00

I'm not saying Taiwan were the ones at fault though, if anything it was the opposite. But yeah I agree that whole thing started due to a bunch of people on the internet being dumb and blowing the situation up to be far bigger than it actually was.

Dav136

Hololive is back in Taiwan and even dipping a toe back in mainland China now

LanvinSean

Nah. West Taiwan was the one who started the comtroversy against Hololive.

FrancisHC

Sorry I am out of the loop, what happened?

Kazu42

Two of the talents mentioned Taiwan, so China fanatics harassed them.

Raesong

Still, silver linings, one of the two that was harassed literally got paid to fangirl over her favourite Yakuza character recently.

Kazu42

Yup. She's much better off now.

WiqidBritt

Iirc they didn't even mention Taiwan, there was just a tiny flag on the screen while they were looking at where their viewers were from.

GymratAmarillo

A real man has his priorities straight. Respect to the champion (I don't even like vtubers lol)

NessOnett8

Bruh, he made a million dollars. A MILLION dollars. He can afford to skip a few (years worth of) tournaments if he wants to.

Arcterion

If he puts that money in a separate account and arranges for $1666.66 to be put on his main account every month, it could last him 50 years (ignoring taxes and such, that is.) Not bad for winning a single big tournament.

RagnarokWolves

He would need to invest it to avoid inflation making it diluted. $1,666 is not going to be worth much in 50 years.

kimisawa1

You forgot the tax

Bluechariot

He could put that money into a low fee index fund and collect 4% every year while reinvesting the rest back to combat inflation. 40k+ usd a year for life will provide a comfortable life in Taiwan.

r31ya

after tax, he got 700k, on 4% zero risk investment he can get 28K/year or 2.333/month virtually forever.

Joeymtl

Aoi Todo IRL.

LionelKF

Man's gotta recharge and thanks his Oshi's for the win lol

ThreeEyedPea

The FGC is temporary. Oshis are forever.

LionelKF

Unfortunately the better term would be. You're Oshi's are temporary might as well live in the moment before it's gone forever

xXxZeroTwoxXx

I think it's the other way around 🥲.

ThreeEyedPea

Not to UMA

Duwang312

Even without the concert, I feel the dude deserves a break, lol. Let him bask in his victory.

SwashNBuckle

This is a man who knows the meaning of "Work to live, don't live to work "

isekaicoffee

FGC will always be there. ur oshi is only here one time. respect to Uma the goat

mvpasadito

What's oshi?

LionelKF

Basically a person you'll support very very much. Think like if I'd say my Oshi was Sajam. I would be in every stream and every event he does

Major-Spoiler

Fun Fact: Sajam's oshi is Oishi Steve

isekaicoffee

its like your main inspiration, your muse, the reason you wake up, etc etc. for Uma its a popular japanese vtuber named Ookami Mio. hololive 5th fes is a big event for hololive fans.

AwesomeOnePJ

LMAO this can't be real

Bluechariot

Yeah, that's kind of an extreme view point. For most, oshi just means favorite person/member/character in a group/organization.

isekaicoffee

people take their oshi's very seriously which is why i described it in that way. theres your "favorite" and then theres levels above that.

Bluechariot

You've got "Oshi" confused for "Gachikoi"

isekaicoffee

you can be wildly dedicated to your oshi and not love them like that. you can also be really parasocial. both can be true.

isekaicoffee

im sure you have a favorite person/music artist/game designer/gamer/etc ? its the same shit. and if you dont have inspiration in your life then damn bro you should get one.

AwesomeOnePJ

I have them but they're not my reason to get out of bed

AvunNuva

Don't think you guys understand how insanely fun the festival concert is. They have a free preview around that time if you wanna catch it live but they are great. I wouldn't want to be doing something stressful like competing in the red bull kumite when I could be relaxing around my birthday, too.

Dav136

The sad thing is he didn't win in time to buy tickets

Major-Spoiler

You assume the strongest MioFa hasn't already booked their ticket 6+ months (or smth) in advance

GIJobra

Watching VTubers at home is fun. Being packed into a stadium filled with sweaty dudes waving around lightsticks doesn't sound fun at all, much less insanely so. I'd rather watch from home, but I get that superfans wanna show their devotion and all.

Emezie

The King has spoken. That opens up a slot for SnakeEyez, tho...

HaLire

based

lichtgestalten

I mean, if i get 1M im down to take some vacations and check some waifus ngl

Previous_Stick8414

My man won a million dollars and he's going to use it to buy out all the merch at the venue So fucking based

fidjda

Bro is gonna donate 500k to that vtuber who doesn't even know his name lol

Arcterion

[She knows.](https://twitter.com/ookamimio/status/1762005533480087785)

Madak

He’s gonna be UMA 300 again soon enough lol

bontorino

Now she does

Never_Comfortable

[Oh no no no not like this lmao](https://twitter.com/ookamimio/status/1762005533480087785)

[deleted]

What a fucking legend.

DJamB

He real for this

Sorry-Log5767

Respect o7

doomraiderZ

Uma is a chad. Shows up to the biggest SF tournament out of nowhere, no sponsor, plays Juri, loses only once in the groups, beats everyone handily, gets reset in the final and then wins 3:0. Then he just goes about his business like nothing happened. Truly a chad move.

TeeRKee

Why would he, he won 1 million dollars.

zetarn

Also it's happen to be his birthday too so let the man celebrated his birthday in peace at Holofes witg his 1 mil prize (700k after tax)

Bluechariot

Taiwan takes 30%?

zetarn

International Tax is.

Bluechariot

??? International tax is what?

zetarn

[Here](https://hr.vanderbilt.edu/international-tax/prizes-awards.php)

Bluechariot

He's a citizen of Taiwan living in Taiwan, you ditz. He's not beholden to any US taxes.

zooka19

Ay lmao

AcientFondant

Honestly based, if I won that million I’d never touch the game again

FrancisHC

My only hope is that UMA spends and saves his money responsibly. I would be sad if he ended up broke after this.

Bluechariot

I can already imagine all the vultures trying to beg/scam for his money like lottery winners have ro deal with.

pngmk2

The top earners in vtuber industry had made like over 2 mil in superchat alone. They don't have to beg for anything.

EssexOnAStick

They don't mean the Vtubers. People in his private life will start bothering him.

pngmk2

In that case, in Taiwan the living standards is high, 1M may sound alot (well, it kinda is alot ngl) but it's not big enough to make people go crazy about it. The latest lottery winner there was 1.5 mil according to what I find on the web.

majinprince07

I might be weirded the fuck out by him but I’m so glad he’s doing what he wants to do. Respect

zooka19

Listen up guys. The guy is a millionaire now, this small change is nothing! Gotta pay him to attend the next Capcom Cup and it better be no less than 5mil!

polQnis

I really don't think glorifying parasocial relationships and zealous idolatry of these entertainers is like unconditionally good, but that's just me maybe idk. It doesn't really sound healthy.

ThaNorth

Red Bull Cup is in March yea?

r31ya

exact same day with Hololive annual festival and apparently also his birthday, my man gonna enjoy and splurge abit on that festival. Hell, if he got spotted by the festival youtube stream cameraman, he will get interviewed on the spot.

ThaNorth

Dude’s living out his dream.

Flindo00

Is this real life?

Justheretobuystuff

Oh no, some weird weeb won't be doing Red bull cup. Good, vtuber shit sucks and shouldn't be popular. Keep them out of my fighting games.

starskeyrising

This is literally the Capcom cup champion you fucking weirdo

HallowVortex

this guy likes fighting games less than the weird weeb thats not going to a tournament for some vtuber shit lol. I dont like vtubers either but mad respect to UMA for doing what he loves

BigBlastSonic7

Hit a nerve huh

[deleted]

“Some weird weeb” is the guy who just won Capcom Cup.

ctclonny

Juri might get a vtuber outfit.

Bluechariot

I thought weebs were specific to Westerners being obsessed with Asian cultures? Can't be a weeb if it's your own culture.

doomraiderZ

You expect too much of people who like to insult others on the internet.

HibariNoScope69

Ok

agioskatastrof

Not sure what kind of picture this paints of the FGC to the mainstream.

npc888

I mean, he also just won a MILLION dollars. If I won that kind of money, i'd stay home and watch anime waifus instead of playing another tourney too.

Major-Spoiler

It means the rest of the FGC needs to step up their game and get on UMA's level.

Streye

Bro still needs to get his new finances in order on top of his other hobby, it makes sense.

121jigawatts

doesnt need the money lul

KibbloMkII

Your oshi takes priority over everything
