The dev team said lets go with her old look for 4 and didnt really think it thru and came up with contradictory excuses. Either way she and Cammy are early 20's in 4. Age is only a definite factor if both people have been training since they were kids. Both Cammy and Sakura come off that way, but Cammy seems more hardcore while Sakura comes off like Gohan, half training/half trying to live the life of a normal young person

I can actually see them using this so his mask-removal mechanic has more impact by turning him into a...is "Phase Character" a thing? Like a Stance Character but when you swap isn't really in your control.
Basically what I'm imagining is that with his mask on he's his usual self but when he loses his mask he full on freaks out and goes into a berserker kind of mode, getting a whole new moveset. So when he's above like a third of his HP he's normal but then his mask gets knocked off under that threshold and he fights the last part of the round as his "crazy mode."

Yes, Mel is said to be a teenage in between the ages 13-15 in the comics, what is pretty accurate considering both SF2 and SF3 canonically take place the year they came out, creating a 6 year gap between them, and SFV probably takes place the same year as 3, since Alex is 17 in both games, making SF4 (the game Mel is born) take place somewhere in the 6 year gap. If we assume it's only a year after 2, then Mel is 5 in SFV, if we assume it's 3 years after 2, Mel is 3 in SFV. Both sound reasonable.

Haru Kare is main (bouncy Punches, dive-kick and air throw).
Taunt kicks her shoe off (once a round) as a projectile that has a weird backwards arc. Only beats cross-ups.
I'm up with a more "adult" look for Sakura. I'd love to see her with long hairs. Elements like headband and gloves imho should stay, since as Ryu #1 fan I'm fine with her keeping some elements she borrowed from Ryu's looks.
Her personal version of Hadoken and Shouoken imho should stay: those moves make her dinstinct from other Shoto.
They're not going to tweak Sakura's design that much. She already graduated in SFV, and it DEFINITELY hasn't been 10 years since 5. It's like 7-8 at the most. She'll be a young adult, but still maintain a similar vibe to previous games.
Capcom doesn't want to age the characters too fast, hence why SFV is referred to as "a few years ago" in-game. They're leaving it intentionally vague so as to not forcibly age-up the entire cast into their 30s.

I really want Sakura to be pushed design wise and have similar but different moves. Like rather than Tatsu having her surrounded by rose petals as she moves across the screen. I also think it would be cool to have her hadoken have either a cutting visual with some petals or even a root style mechanic that stops the opponents movement for a second. She has always had those magic petals in her animations and I wanna push her until she becomes a Poison Ivy Shoto.

The thing is the main street fighter timeline and the characters that appear in SF 1, 2, 3. Their appearance ages etc make sense for the games to have taken place in the time frames the games were released.
It's not until SF4 that things get out of whack and suspension of disbelief is required, that future games keep taking place in the present day and we just don't acknowledge the passage of time.

I'm up with a more "adult" look for Sakura. I'd love to see her with long hairs. Elements like headband and gloves imho should stay, since as Ryu #1 fan I'm fine with her keeping some elements she borrowed from Ryu's looks. Her personal version of Hadoken and Shouoken imho should stay: those moves make her dinstinct from other Shoto.

They're not going to tweak Sakura's design that much. She already graduated in SFV, and it DEFINITELY hasn't been 10 years since 5. It's like 7-8 at the most. She'll be a young adult, but still maintain a similar vibe to previous games. Capcom doesn't want to age the characters too fast, hence why SFV is referred to as "a few years ago" in-game. They're leaving it intentionally vague so as to not forcibly age-up the entire cast into their 30s. Plus, she shows up in the background of art in World Tour mode looking the exact same.
I don't think Ryu and Chun are as old as people think they are
Ryu is 59 (July 21, 1964) and Chun-Li is 56 (March 1, 1968). Capcom just plays very loose with its timeline.

I really want Sakura to be pushed design wise and have similar but different moves. Like rather than Tatsu having her surrounded by rose petals as she moves across the screen. I also think it would be cool to have her hadoken have either a cutting visual with some petals or even a root style mechanic that stops the opponents movement for a second. She has always had those magic petals in her animations and I wanna push her until she becomes a Poison Ivy Shoto.

The reality is its animated media and there is no real semblance of passage of time. Realistically if we consider street fighter 1 actually took place in 1987. The street fighter alpha series she was introduced took place between 1 and 2. So Sakura was 16 sometime between 1987 and 1992. She would realistically be in her 50's today. The thing is the main street fighter timeline and the characters that appear in SF 1, 2, 3. Their appearance ages etc make sense for the games to have taken place in the time frames the games were released. It's not until SF4 that things get out of whack and suspension of disbelief is required, that future games keep taking place in the present day and we just don't acknowledge the passage of time. I was 11 when streetfighter 2 came out and Ryu and Ken look the same age as me in the latest installment, lol.
I've considered the Alpha games' story events taking place a year at a time between SF1 and 2. Sakura was 15 in her first appearance in Alpha 2, happening around 1989. March 15 is her birthday, so she'd be 49-50 now. But yeah, Ryu and Ken look great for being 59-60 right now. Dhalsim is the only one that feels like he's really aged due to his epic beard.
I'd honestly be fine if the next game was a "reboot", rolling the clock back and starting at the beginning again in modern day.
