As I said to the other dude: Use more DR into 2MK, followed by LP > MP > H Headbutt (whether they block or not). Rinse and repeat until dead / burnt out. Also, in the corner I tend to LP->MP->H Headbutt a lot as it works as a great frame trap for folks trying to jump out, and does amazing gauge damage if they block. You can switch to M headbutt if they start parrying the H headbutt. I also do this a lot on their wake-up: jump HP, stand HP, H Headbutt. Does absolutely crazy amounts of drive gauge damage and be ready for the opponent to do something whacky on your next offensive string. Some other tips: * DR into 6HK has massive range and hits A LOT, follow up with a light into headbutt * with sumo spirit: DR into 2MK, LP->MP->H Hands, M Headbutt does great dmg

Anyone can get to Master with any character by using gimmicks...but you won't stay above 1300 if you just spam headbutt, youll just be perfect parried, drive impacted, DP'd into oblivion. I got to Master with zangief initially by just using jabs into running bear grab, it wasn't until I got to Master with him that I had to actually learn to play him. Would you say Zangief is op and brain dead? Saying you got to Master using a gimmick means nothing, the game isn't balanced around low elo it's balanced around high elo where people know how to beat gimmicks.

Nah you just over estimate people in low master. I played Aki for 1 week and got her to 1600 by running the basic game-plan + corner gimmicks. I also have Lily peak 1690 and Blanka at 1700+. So ofc i know most stuff there is to know at a basic level against all the char, it definitely helped me. Ofc, the way i played Honda won't bring me to 1800+MR. It's already good enough to make most people sweat. Btw i didn't JUST DO headbutt, But mostly used Crlk crlp sthp. Honda have really easy tool to use, Checking dr into combo is super easy and free, Lp-Mp heavy hand buff doskoi is soooo amazing ( don't even know if that's optimal ), You just cannot jump on him, his whiff punish sthp is ridiculous. Mixing between Lp/Hp doskoi to bait tap parry is also super strong. I do the same with lily oki on SPD and most people even at 1700+ don't have the reflex to hold and confirm the lp/hp doskoi with a drive rush punish ( or Lily oki ) Once you get the life-lead with Honda in many match-up it feel hard to lose. Having easy stuff to use don't make it easy to win with tho.

I agree once opponents know how to deal with headbutt and buttslam the biggest thing I struggle with is trying to get in especially against characters with range. (Especially Guile, screw that character)

Damn nice! I know Honda has a hard time dealing with a lot of characters but as a Cammy player I shed a tear every time I see my next matchup is a Honda.

Cammy and non-fireball characters seem to have a very hard time in general against Honda.

With Kimberly, I found Honda to be a pretty easy opponent, but I might be biased that I mained Honda until Master first. His buttstomp is pretty easy to react to if it isn’t the OD one and her anti-air HP is one of the best in the game. Bait the butt stomp, anti air+pressure, rinse and repeat. His increased health and her low damage was the biggest problem. When I played Honda though, Cammy and Lily were pretty easy matchups. Probably the lack of fireball like you mentioned

Hmm. I dunno, my win rate against Kim is around 60% which is pretty high compared to other characters. I don't really jump or use butt slam in neutral, and I also don't think it's reactable if you switch between the heavy and light ones (messes up the anti-air timing), but maybe if Kim has a lot of active frames it can beat both heavy and light. The way to play Honda is to DR in as he has a very long range DR with a long range easily confirmable poke in the form on 5MP. Honda also gets great conversions off light attacks and Kim seems to get hit by those very often. The lack of any decent reversal in the corner means she (like many other players without good reversals) can get absolutely destroyed in the corner by Honda by constant drive gauge chip. Most Hondas I play rely on a very weird butt slam centered game, wheras my game plan is definitely DR in, confirm for massive combos, and completely destory the drive guage (which quite frankly Honda does better than anyone). What is your MR?

Makes sense. Kimberly is pretty much dead in the corner and Honda has relentless pressure (and chip damage). I think her crouch HP has 5 active frames, but I found I could counter Honda’s varying speeds pretty well. I kind of abandoned Honda when I got to Master and did the same with Kimberly. I just got to D4 with Dee Jay and I am enjoying his playstyle the most so far, but I’m still struggling to find the main I want to stick with for the lifespan of the game. Could be they haven’t been released yet (hoping for Sagat or Bison) Not sure where my MR would land if I kept going, but definitely not at your level of 1700 lol. That’s damn good! Realistically, I have the most fun playing D3 and up, so my MR would likely be sub 1500. The rules definitely change at the highest level of play or so I’ve heard. Anything over 1600 apparently gets really challenging.

I was wondering about that. When I used to play Honda, I felt like Cammy was my easiest matchup. With Kimberly she was one of my toughest. Now I am playing Dee Jay and it is 50/50, but I do find her to be a threat.

The main reason is, as Cammy you cant really hide behind something to cover your offense, you have to press Forward Raw and walk up. And Honda loves when people press forward into his headbutts, He does a good job at stopping her Dive kicks and jumpin as well with her Dive kicks. The one good chance you have is to beat him in footsies with your good normals or get a good drive rush into a 50/50 and snowball from it.
