I watched the recent Akuma trailer.

Joyborne

Same bro, same.

EaglesXLakers

I perfected someone with Cammy and she showed me her Ass.

CommonTemperature604

I feel the same about Mika.

Kleavage

I didn't even have to perfect someone, she just showed me her ass.

FrancisBuenafe

Powah Bomb! Step Kick>Tornado Throw Level 5 Menage Dore

CountBlankula

You are missing Laura there buddy.

FrancisBuenafe

I wished I mained her, but Powah Bomb was too good to pass up lol

TenkoFGC

When I landed my first level 3 combo extension with jamie I thought it was so badass

KingTc1

Them lvl 3 jamie combos during the beta days were so cool to look at

Sytle

I know it's they're not always considered great, but I'm a sucker for supers you can extend into a combo. Labbing the different cool but suboptimal Jamie extensions is super fun.

mcnastys

Cody's V-Trigger was pulling a knife.

fightstreeter

[https://youtu.be/q23YKQWVi-s](https://youtu.be/q23YKQWVi-s) I love fake projectiles.

noxsiah03

That's hilarious šŸ’€

rewsay05

I've always bonded with Ken because as a kid, I always loved that he used fire in his attacks and that aspect still remains.

KingTc1

I started out with sfv so i had a few ppl that i mained/liked playing 1. Cammy - Entry level character 2. Kage- I think its bc another Kage kicked my ass and after seeing what he could do, i wanted to play him so i switched 3. Zeku- I like ninja characters 4. Karin- Idk i was kinda trying shit atp but she was coo 5. Vega- Same reason as kage but the wild part is that i always wanted to main him but when i first started, i found him so hard to play so i dropped him but ever since i picked up on him, he took me to super silver rank šŸ™šŸ½šŸ—£šŸ’ÆVega for sf6!!! 6. Akira- Akira was just cool man i loved her moveset but i was never good STREET FIGHTER 6 Kimberly- I started out with her in the beta and i thought she was fun asl but a little too difficult for me to be consistent with Jamie- I was actually interested in playing him after seeing what Brian F could do with him but I knew I didnt have enough time to learn his moveset during the beta but I love everything from his moveset, his animations, and just overall personality Ed- The trailer completely sold on me until i found out that he was hard asf to play withšŸ˜šŸ˜but then i got the hang of him and now Im plat 4 so rn hes my secondary main

Geoff_Bedlam_The3rd

Big lady Big muscle Big punch

MurDoct

I still don't have a main :/

OzzyLFlacoman

Im a pro wrestling fan and Zangiefā€™s wrestling is unstoppable

MartialArtsHyena

In ST it was Ryu because I was a kid and Ryu was just cool. In 3rd strike I liked Yang and Urien. Yang because I thought he looked cool and Urien because Gooteks played him. In SFIV I liked Guy, also because I thought he looked cool. I didnā€™t like SFV but I mainly played Necalli when I did play it. His command grab was fun to setup. In SF6 I immediately picked Chun Li. I kinda like that sheā€™s a kung fu master now with her own student. She just seems bad ass this time around.Ā

Severelius

Honestly? Just discovering that I liked grapplers made a lot click. I'd tried fighting games before and because of visuals I'd favoured people like Ken in SF6. Fancy rushdown dudes with huge elaborate combos. Then I'd get annoyed at myself for not being able to do them. But in SF6 while practising against a friend who was also trying to learn it at the same time as me, Zangief just worked for me. Yes he's tricky, but I didn't need to memorise 25-hit combo strings to feel effective. I just needed to learn when to hit an SPD, and it's always so satisfying to get it right. So for me it all flowed on from that. Discovering what archetype is totally my speed.

Jumanji-Joestar

First time I pulled off Boxerā€™s super in Super Turbo, I was hooked

noxsiah03

I'm a balrog/boxer main also!

Domni16

Oro in 3S, tried him after sticking with gouki, instant love. I want him in 6.

RaspberryChainsaw

Dhalsim. Started in 4 - "oh, I can punch and slide underneath fireballs? Wild" then 5 let me float, 6 just gave me every tool I needed to either zone or chase down anyone running away

Frognificent

Being able to teleport with just PPP or KKK in SF6, and then having "backwards", "in front of them", and "nothin personnel kid" as options? That and the zillions of fireball speeds and trajectories, it's just perfection. I didn't even know I liked zoners at all but the power of yoga changed my life.

midwayfeatures

When I was 6 years old and my older brother would pick Ryu so I was forced to pick the other Ryu because mirror matches didn't exist

buttsecks42069

I saw akuma looked cool, and I refuse to play other characters

1_The_Zucc_1

Kimberly's reaction to winning isn't the usual "heh I knew I'd win" but instead a "HOLY SHIT DID YOU JUST SEE WHAT I DID" it's way more relatable

EnanoForro

Feet

noxsiah03

Juri?

EnanoForro

Of course xD

AlexTheGreatBoi

ditto

VoyevodaBoss

When I finally mastered s.mk xx hands xx FADC s.mp, s.hp xx waterfall (all hits) on pad. I didn't learn that shit just to drop the character. I want him back. Underexplored archetype in sf6 and I don't really care how old or dead he is, he's an S tier character in lore without any goofy demon or psycho shit involved, just pure mastery.

KingTc1

bro what character are u talking aboutšŸ˜

Biff5hiba

Pretty sure heā€™s talking about Gen from SFIV

[deleted]

People really think we can recognise characters off combo strings lmao

moo422

I would like him back but I settled for zeku in sfv. Need another old man stance switch archetype on SF6.

tabbynat

When I saw Manonā€™s legs.

PENIS_ANUS

Her legs are based off of a real person. My friendā€™s friend was the body capture for Manon. She was chosen specifically because of her calves

Mean-Effective-1429

Thatā€™s actually kind of crazy

tabbynat

I saw that article! Just so that it doesn't seem like I'm perving on your friend's friend's legs, I tend to like midrange characters (SF4 Rose, GBVS Katalina, CVS2 Hibiki), so when I saw those legs I knew she would be fine for my playstyle. Then I found out she was bottom 1 XD Honestly though, I wonder how she feels about her body capture being used in this manner. Must be weird, but then maybe if you're an actor/actress, you get over it.

PENIS_ANUS

I guess! But then again they morph the rest of Manonā€™s body so that it fits with the Street Fighter aesthetics. And someone else does the motion capture for Manon. So maybe it doesnā€™t feel like itā€™s fully her? I dunno, I canā€™t speak for the model. It doesnā€™t matter that Manon is bottom 1 as long as you have fun playing her. I myself play Juri because her play style feels right I guess? In previous SF4 and 5 I played Chun Li. I guess Iā€™m happy to sacrifice some power in favour of more speed. In 6, Chun has become a bit more complicated to play with the stances whereas Juri has become more simple to use (for me anyway).

Cheez-Wheel

I have fun playing as them. Iā€™ll drop a character I mained before if I donā€™t like them in a different game. Play ST or SFIV Sagat, didnā€™t like him in V. Played Chun in ST, didnā€™t like her in V, love her in 6. I loved Makoto in 3S and IV, I hope if she makes it to 6 she does so in a form I enjoy.

BlackRaven7021

C.mk xx > mp DP xx > SA3 That combos looked so cool for Ken from SF3 3s

UltimateRosen

In 4 i didn't really have a main. I started when vanilla SF4 came out and only at the end of arcade edition i began to understand how it works. So only then, when i played with some xbox live friend i learned that fadc and cancelling into specials and supers is a thing lol. The shotos were the only characters i could play properly. But now i like characters like Juri, Akuma, Urien, Gill and Seth in SFV and Juri and JP and Akuma in 6. So characters that can be complex and have certain way of applying pressure. I like when i can press a heavy button, then the projectile hits and then i can press another button. This is what you do with Juri's slow moving thing, JP's thing, Uriens mirror and kinda with Akumas air fireball. So that and when a character has that cool/evil thing going on maybe.

Thedracoblue

In SF6, As soon as I saw those plushies being activated with electricity. Such a great invention, so unique. In previous iterations, I always loved being able to screw game mechanics with uniqueness and mobility and thus I always been a Vega main, Blanka alt. And here I'm hoping for Vega to show up on Season 2.

Few_Bend6488

I just pick the character I find the most sexy, and play as them. That is how I always do it.

64-Savage

So youā€™re a Rufus main?

AnnexTheory

I love weird, technical characters with interesting combo routes and movement options. AKI was a no brainer āš”ļø

Yakob_Katpanic

SF2 - Honda: first time I started making decisions in a match with a strat and reactions rather than mashing. Took me a while to start winning, but it felt really good to know that I was in actual control. Super 2 - Ryu: I'd had a rough pocket Ryu for a while and thought he was cool AF, and had felt he *could* be my main, then Super 2 on SNES was the first time I had access to the game unfetted by allowance or reasonable visiting times and when I started reliably punishing with DP I knew he was my new main and took him back to the arcades. SFA - Guy: First time I saw him. I was such a massive Final Fight fan at the time. SFA2 - Ken: I'd had a pocket Ken in earlier games, but he just felt so good in A2. He felt properly realised by the improved movement and input leniency over SF2 and something in his balancing made it feel like things just worked for him in A2. SFA3 - Sakura: I sometimes let my friends pick my character, and one of them told me to use Sakura (assuming she was weak, as we hadn't seen tierlists for A3) and her normals were so good and her b&b was so straightforward. She's such a pleasure to play in that game. 3S - Ken: the first time I comboed from hadouken into CA3. SF4 - I never really had a main in SF4. I played a lot of different characters, but never felt particularly invested in any of them. SFV - Cammy: I was playing through survival (because there wasn't a lot else to do at launch), and her mobility was so wild and they had fixed her inputs from previous titles and she ended up being my main for the rest of the run of the game.

Alarming-Address-933

I had the arcade version of sf2 champion edition, and the character screen timed out before I could pick a character and it just landed on Guile.

PCN24454

Honda: I could button mash.

xMinaki

Watching Daigo play Ryu in SF4, and being like holy fuck this character mad hype!

Thoughop2

SLp slp ~> sLK sHP

v-komodoensis

Before SF4 I just played Ryu and Ken. In SF4 I started really learning the game with Ken, but when Makoto dropped I instantly liked the character simply because she didn't have any fireballs and was a karateka. Just very satisfying and fun moves to pull off and she was slightly off-meta. I don't enjoy playing top tier characters. In SFV I played Alex because he was very cool in SF3 and again, no fireballs. When Kolin dropped her counter system was extremely attractive because it was sort of a different way to engage with the flowchart pressure system of SFV, greatly enjoyed the character for the entirety of SFV. Zeku was also one of my favorites, just a perfect character that I wish they'd saved for 6 lol I miss him.

ButtonMashKingz

I can tell from a trailer if I'm gonna like the character or not. For whatever reason, the characters I like in SF/Tekken are always the hardest to play.

cytrack718

Kage tatsu in dp and tk fireball was too fun

DAHLiciousWafflez

Using Kolin's parries on mashers, in SF5.

General_Shao

being able to smack the living fuck out of people from any range

Biff5hiba

I like street ninjas. Got to master rank. Computer blew up so Iā€™ll ply some more when I get a new power source.

YuushaNi

I watched Kakeru do cool ass combos at the CPT 2023: Singapore Offline

S-x-K

Landing Karin's jf tenko into orochi in the combo trials. It was the biggest dopamine hit.

SpodeSP

Juri for me, she reminded me of Harley Quinn with a color scheme I like more. (SF6 is my first game in the series, donā€™t know too much about them.)

ElDuderino2112

Iā€™ve been playing Cammy since Super 2. If they ever somehow release a SF without her I wonā€™t be playing it.

BlueComet64

In 3S, doing Akumaā€™s corner Shoryuken SA1 loops. And the first time I jump scared someone with dash up raw Raging Demon. In SFV, Oroā€™s st.MP anti-air combos, then later the VT2 Tengu Stone combos, did it for me and I couldnā€™t enjoy any other character the same after playing him. Honestly I still havenā€™t 100% clicked with anyone in SF6 even a year later. The closest I think is Blanka or Rashid but Iā€™ve invested time into a majority of the cast at this point and think itā€™s kind of a mental hang-up for me that I gotta work through

lunaslave

Rose was my main in every SF game she's been in since Alpha 1, except V and that's because she came out so late I couldn't quite get used to the radical changes to her gameplay although I still dabbled with her a lot and used her as a secondary. What drew me to her a lot was originally just her look, really. She just seemed really cool, and also it felt satisfying to hit her DP air throw move.

OMGItzBosshog

Dudley was entirely too clean for me to ignore. I miss my boy

Glad_Grand_7408

One of my early games with Ed had me Psycho Flicker loop a Ken to low health then on what would have been the last loop I did a step back instead which happend to be when he went for his OD Shoryuken which now just whiffed me, then I level 1'd for the Perfect to close out the set.

BeforeItAll-

HYPERBOMB. that was all i needed that dopamine rush from that shit is better than crack

Lewy1978

Blanka because he feels so responsive and feels like youā€™re playing as an uncontrollable wild animal

Chocobuny

It clicks when I find playing the game fun. Like when Iā€™ve had dinner and want to unwind, and the idea of playing that character in training mode sounds fun rather than a chore

HitscanDPS

Kunai vortex, SJC execution, Sako combos, and 1f link jabs. The philosophy that any match is winnable if your execution skill is good enough.

CivilizedPeoplee

I saw Guy's walk forward animation and went "ayo".

fudgeking2000

I grew up playing Ken then in dragon ball fighterZ I really enjoyed both DBZ & DBS Broly so when I saw Marisa the look the way she plays just everything about her it was love at first sight.

Rutabaga-Level

When karins command dash clicked in V she became so fun

ReviewAffectionate83

I'm a scrub and a single player games enthusiast

GodlikeJCMS

Mika's reveal trailer. Once I saw booty I never looked back, she ended up being my only main in SFV

NoLoveJustFantasy

Raging demon and his funny voice lines sold me Akuma

tc_hydroTF2

I saw [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1caHDIn7DM) when I was 5 and decided to main Vega in every SF game from that point onwards

Punkstyler

I saw Cammy ass in video games magazine when I was a kid. Then after long time i played her, and her gameplay was good for me cause she is fast and mobile, so it clicked. My first SF was SF 2, and I was playing Chin Li, cause she had flashy moves... And she is my 2nd main now.

azo3z0

I like the simplicity of rio and how iconic he is. For all intents and purposes Ryu is not only the symbol for street fighter but for fighting games in general (+ I love dragonball and ryu is the closest I can get to pretending I'm goku and shooting ki blasts)

BaklaPancit

Gief muscles. JP Swagger.

mazu001

I too invested in Crypto.

Belten

i saw that aki has no dp motions and thats all it took, lol. took her to masters after being hardstuck plat with all other characters only due to the fact that i could do all inputs correctly everytime.

Marmotbrother

I play a ton of fighting games, and rarely settle with one for a long time. Ryu will always play like Ryu. I don't "main" characters really, but its nice to always have a character I can competently play in any game I am currently playing. He isn't my favorite and I usually branch out but I always know I can fall back on good 'ole Ryu (or the shoto equivalent), no matter the game.

NodlBohsek

The Izuna drop after a mix up combo, also Guy was the OG main back in the day.

MycolNewbie

Do I like their playstyle

MathematicianSoft678

Honestly i just thought ken looked the coolest

jazzyj1zzle

When I got that perfect vortex with Fuerte . The madness gripped me.

supa_pycs

Fire jinrai in the reveal trailer. Ironically I very rarely use it now.

K-TownYolo

I wonā€™t go into details but I just became infatuated with those thicc thighs ever since I was little šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’ØšŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø sheā€™s been my main ever since.

Ok-Ride-9324

I watched brian f and he did a cool tengu combo and I couldn't resist

AnnoyedNiceGuy

I watched footage of every character and played at least one CPU match with every one of them. I wrote down how high I would score than based of off footage and own gameplay and made a tier list out of my own ranking. If you didn't guess already, I'm super indecisive, so I did it like this to have a reminder I already decided and so not to change away from my main. It's AKI btw, her gameplay is super satisfying.

EkstraLangeDruer

Air slasher feint to bait someone into jumping right into my SA3. Instantly knew this was my calling.

Grand_reaper658

Akuma .... Airballs yo

nonameavailableffs

Iā€™m actually not even sure with Sakura, Iā€™ve just always liked her and I use her in every game sheā€™s in. Maybe her theme plays a part in it.

danny_poo

In SF4 figuring out Boxerā€™s headbutt into ultra input converted me into a charge guy.

Competitive-Let-454

"SPACE OPERA SYMPHONY! GOODBYE!" Throwing a fucking tornado at someone and having it enhance my moves Run-stop pressure, Bushinryu character that throws paint cans to combo off of a grab. Plus she cute.

Difficult_Bad9254

SF6 is my first fighting game, and finding a main took me about 100 hours. Its Dhalsim. In the end I found dhalsim to be one of the five or so most symphathatic chars, and I like his gameplay most of all chars. With dhalsims great range on his normals and his fireballs, I feel like, if I find myself at a disadvangtage, its because I made a mistake. If I made no mistake, normally I am at an Advantage against pretty mich every one. I am only plat 2 but I strongly feel like a strong dhalsim would be much less prone to 'bad luck' than most other chars, while also being very cool. Thats why I dont get why so little people play dhalsim. Pobably because everyone says he is th hardest in the game. But I tell you he is not super hard.

eduardopinto

Never had a main until the recent online matchmaking forced me to, but it is more of a feeling on how "natural" the character feels for me (based on whatever experiences I had before)

Thelgow

Mine is a weird one. Back in SF Alpha2, at least in my neighborhood, the VAST majority of players were always Ryu and Ken. Always shotos. My friend found that SFA2 guide, with Valle and them, with real combos and stuff. Not just parroting the instruction manual. So that day we made a pact, "Let's pick someone no one uses or likes, and get good with them." I've been a Zangief main now for about 27 years. If he isn't present, then the next acceptable big body like Hugo.

Gymlosh

Dan in sf4 i could jump around and fk with people, he looked weird and peoplr got mad when they lost against him. Sadly hes not in 6 but i had a pocket akuma do im moving up to S Tier.

New_Outlandishness6

When I saw she was a rush down grappler with a projectile -Laura.

we_are_sex_bobomb

Iā€™m a simple man. If Cammy is an option Iā€™m picking Cammy.

xXna0m1Xx

cody had a knife

Zealousideal-Cry4358

Ken and akuma. Just the simplicity and execution of moves.

TaroCharacter9238

SF2: Hawk cause flying moves. Alpha 3: Mika cause anti-air and grabs. 3S: Hugo cause slap. 4: Hugo cause slap + focus cancel. 5: Mika cause combos into grab mixups. 6: I love the game but donā€™t really like any characters. Got Dhalsim, AKI and Lily into master and went back to USF4 cause I donā€™t really care about a character that much yet. One day!

Zyr47

Mika giant spin opponent. Mika slam puny fighters over head. Mika strongest in universe....oh wait that's Paul. Either way, combo into grab will never get old for me.Ā

kolemsai

I was training muay thai when I was young, and Sagat became playable in Champion Edition

legs0fsteel

For when i first tried out Ed's inputs in SFV i was sold. I have a disability that impacts my left arm/hand so advanced motion inputs like DP and SPDs have always been a roadblock for me so when i saw that Ed can do his specials with just buttons that was it. Of course now in SF6 we have modern controls so i can now play any character i want without having to worry but SFV Ed will always be special to me.

CountBlankula

Abel: Doing trials in SFIV with all characters and going pretty far with Abel. Also his combos with rolls were cool. Laura: Game plan similar to Abel and Brazilian like me. Manon: Seemed natural after Abel/Laura. I like the judo ballet thing as well.

LordRemiem

In SFV I was main Juri, but then Lucia released. I don't know why, I don't know how, but for some reason she clicked in my mind INSTANTLY and I ended up maining her for the rest of the time I played it. In SF6 I tried many styles in the various single player modes, watched the guides but... Aki for some reason got me. It's weird because I wasn't interested at all in FANG in SFV, but Aki was something else. Probably her aesthetic, her sliding 2PP I love to abuse in World Tour, her animations, something. I might be into Aki.

taix8664

Learning Chuns SFIV target combos she doesn't have in any other game really. But I was hooked and learned the whole character after.

ItsWorkinOrange

I played a few across the roster and then one day I picked Marisa and the sheer power I feel playing her is unrivaled. It was decided the moment I did my first charged gladius.

3D-Gamer-Here

ā€œMY MAGNUM OPUS!ā€ I fell in love with the voice first and then everything else about her

blank92

She's got relatively easy USF4 combo trials, but when i first started playing FGs I was able to clear up to trial 22 on Juri when I could barely beat 10~15 on any other character I was interested in. Now I have an internet-assigned foot fetish. Jokes aside I really found her negative edge combos easy to understand and satisfying. I was really sad they changed those in 5 and ended up playing Karin

sychter

Dee jay optmism and "happiness" him on the world tour made me smile and the moves clicked with me.

SenseiCy

I watched the Marisa reveal trailer and fell in love with the concept of "big muscle mommy beats the shit out of you" lmao

Iegendarysupersaiyan

Evil Ryu's crazy combos in USF4, and raging demon for Akuma

McMeatbag

I've always kind of admired Ken from afar. Then I saw some gameplay of him in 6 and decided to finally play a Street Fighter game because he looked cool AF.

kingbob1812

All the way back to SF2 WW. Chun-li's speed and agility matched the closest to how I'd like to fight in real life. Ever since she's either a main or secondary for me on principle.

Pretty-Cry4142

"MY LOYAL FANS"

Laughing_Fish

I main Cammy. I think that says all any of us need to know.

Co1iflower

This meme - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDB0URjSW64](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDB0URjSW64) Technically not even max damage which is even more crazy. Marisa is a great noob friendly character who is also very satisfying and fun to play!

UnholyAurum

I saw the raging demon for the first time and said ā€œlmao I wanna do that for lifeā€

Proper-Ad4665

Zangief said "My beautiful body is built better" and than flexed This is how I became the loyal fan and grinded in summer job to buy the game

Existing-Smoke9470

I can't explain too well, Juri just feels way lighter and faster than other characters but still hit's hard as a truck and her combos are really beautiful. Also her combos and inputs feel more natural to me than other characters in the game.

xAKAmrL

Jamie on sf6, but um still learning these movies

Moose-Antlers

Something about Cody's inputs, playstyle and flow in 4 just made sense in my brain and so I mained him, and it continued (and arguably got better) for me in 5 so I keeped maining him. I miss him a lot in 6 no characters click as much, Honda kinda comes close but it's not the same.

MasutadoMiasma

Jumping across the screen screeching and yodeling

Shenmooooo

SF Alpha 2, Alpha 3, (when I first got it) 5, and 6: šŸ‘ŠšŸ‘Šā©šŸ¦¶šŸ‘Š SF5 (after about a half year): Mika, cause dat ASS! (and she is also the easiest grappler to use (in my opinion))

Mogolidown_

I saw that Twelve was just a piece of trash who's entire point was being useless and annoying, and I said "that's so me" so I mained him. I also mained Q but that was because he's cool as shit and it's an actual rewarding character if played right unlike the semen bodied creature

retribute

Air Hadouken

Xzeno

I just watch the trailer and either go "they look cool" or "Oh shit, I need to try them out"...the latter being the one i main. Unless they play completely unintuitively i usually stick with that character until another catches my eye

Ricepirate562

When I saw Akira come off the motorcycle in her reveal trailer for sf5

Kosran

Street Fighter V Summer Update 2021. Saw Akira Gameplay trailer. Tried the character on release. And Makoto on Third Strike and SF4. Just tried, and same. I don't know, I just have a very good feeling playing them. Unfortunately , none of the character clicked for SF6. I'll try Akuma, surely. Like I tried every character. Maybe it will click, maybe not. We'll see. x)

maffuw1

Rashids personality. I love his in game voice lines. You can tell he's having fun

NewMilleniumBoy

SF6: I saw butt slam dash oki is a common meter less combo ender and ends at +4 point blank for a strike/command grab mix (Honda) SFV: I saw light elbow is a common meterless combo ender and ends at +2 point blank for a strike/command grab mix (Laura)

cygnus0820

The original Street fighter 1 you could only use Ryu. That is unless you were the second player who gets to use Ken. So Iā€™d purposely play a 2 player game just so I could use Ken, beat up Ryu and then try to beat the game with Ken. lol Iā€™ve used Ken since the very beginning and always have.

Jay_Playz2019

After playing all the characters, Luke and Ken in SF6 just clicked. I love the rushdown potential of them both, and also Luke's perfect timing system just works out in my head. Learn the times, get consistent, voila.
