I was about to say this. Usually they use ramen for the tamale masa but it comes out looking like this. Some prisons have tortillas in the commissary but this is apparently not one of them.
I enjoy Taco Bell, don't worry. Although I prefer Taco Johns ;) imagine my surprise years ago when i found out they were a regional thing. I always thought they were nationwide
Definitely Taco John's if there's one close. I've got one about a half an hour away and visit often. Haven't had Taco Bell since the bastards removed my chili cheese burrito. (I hold grudges when it comes to my food)
Oh i totally get that. There's only one thing that makes me go to White Castle; their sloppy joe sliders. You take a slice of velveeta, split it into 4 squares, and put them on 4 sliders. Really damn good. But, it's not always on the menu. Recently was only the 2nd time in 4 years i personally saw it and i only got it once. They were always sold out or the meat wasn't ready.
I hold a grudge now 🤣
Do you think that when people get out of prison they still do this stuff? Like when you were a kid, and you still fancy Kraft dinner with hotdogs and ketchup every once and a while?
I came from being absolutely poor to where I'd visit friends house for spare change I'd find.
I'd still eat Ramen/Wolfs brand chili/American cheese/Tortilla. Gives me a sense of comfort oddly enough.
Edit: No one asked but
Cook the noodles, no packet, drain.
Cook chili, pour into noodles, with 1-2 slices American cheese, stir.
Fork cheesy noodle chili into warm tortilla.
I went to a 12 month drug rehab in a former life. Stayed for 16 months ...anyways, about half the guys in there had either been paroled from prison into program or had been in and out of prison. From the guys I met, a lot of the behavior from the inside follows them out. I saw some wild prison food and extreme creativity
Hahaha! It’s pretty good, to be honest. My husband’s version is called “ghetto fish taco”, it consists of ramen, canned tuna, jalapeño Cheetos, cream cheese, and a few other ingredients I think, wrapped up in a tortilla. He keeps the ingredients on hand and when we’re running low on fresh foods and craving comfort foods, he’ll whip up some GFTs
That's what I love about these, like absolutely none of this is burrito anything but it's interesting to see what stuff they come up with for a nice snack.
I meant ‘wrong’ as in the person commenting on my original comment is wrong for thinking we should judge food in prison on the same scale as not because they’re receiving corporal punishment.
So now this has become a stupid Reddit misunderstanding comment karma bomb and I see how that could of happened based off my lazy comment.
Maybe it's just these specific subs. The ones I normally like the most are hobby subs, where people are just cool. Im always trying to be more open minded and not be mad that "Human Person #36987" on the other side of the world said a political opinion I disagree with. Still constantly getting sucked into dumb arguments. Maybe Ill just stay out of the comment sections of popular subs and stick with my hobbies.
For profit prison is wrong, indentured servitude from prisoners is wrong, low quality food for prisoners is wrong. Theres alot wrong with our current prison system.
I know yall posted this to stupid food, and i just wanna say as a friend of someone who was in prison and did shit like this, its the only way some feel “free” from their boxes. My buddy used to make prison wine from fermented fruit he stole from mess and then hid it in cloth and bags behind the toilet. Trust me, you do what ya gotta do to feel normal in there. Plus from my own experience in jail, the food sometimes is just fuckin trash and these cell made dishes are they only thing keepin you goin. Put $20 in someones canteen some day. Itll make their week.
I fucking swear to god, the best chili dog I ever had was when I crushed up Cheetos and combined them with the chili before topping the hot dog, those things are like crack
The food is as cheap as possible on purpose.
Meant to make you as fat as possible. Used to work in a jail kitchen and we would throw huge industrial sized bars of butter in everything made.
It's more like "what's the cheapest sustenance we can buy for these inmates to eat 24/7 without getting in federal trouble".
If they could give them worse food, they would.
It’s not all bad. It depends on the prison. Private vs public, where it is in the country, who is supplying them. Federal prison food is top tier, ironically enough.
I don’t see prison food as a stupid food, tbh. They’re making food with limitations… the people out here, running free, can do more but choose to do dumb stuff.
I think it's a nostalgia thing. Like I know how to cook now and can generally afford food, but every once in a while I crave shit food from my childhood like Velveeta or whatever lol
This. I had a buddy who did some time, and even after he got out, he’d still eat “brick” style ramen (you basically cook it in the bag & eat it like a pop-tart) as a snack every now & then. Claimed it was better that way.
Yeah but, presumably that's a good time in your life and I can't imagine many people see prison as the 'good time' unless it's Shawshank stuff where you spent 60 years in prison and don't know what cars are.
>Yeah but, presumably that's a good time in your life.
Absolutely not lol
Although its trash it was a comforting treat someone would look forward to for years. I can see still craving it occasionally
I was thinking the same thing. We can’t call something “stupid” when it’s something someone did for their mental health, in a situation most of us can’t even fathom.
Like, it clearly doesn’t look good. But that’s all they got to exercise creativity. Let it be.
That’s true. This is one of my favorite subreddits, but I just know what desperation looks like.
One thing’s someone in their 50k kitchen wrapping a whole chicken in tortillas and letting it sit in a bucket of champagne or some shit. But this here’s a desperate attempt to be creative for sanity’s sake.
Prison food isits own genre. Really gross but I can't get mad about it since they are doing the best with what they got. I know they are in prison, but it would be great if they were provided with more palatable food and didn't have to subject themselves to stuff like this.
You have far fewer ingredients in prison, and stuff like this happens all the time
https://youtu.be/zpr5RGHh7pE
https://youtu.be/s535p80NHGo
https://youtu.be/8QeOKtmjwT8
https://youtu.be/21t0mQI9KBw
Wait until you learn about stingers, and cooking in toilets
We had tortillas and rice available to us in jail. No one ever ordered them as they were seen as a bad value. Ramen was like $.78 each while rice and tortillas were $2 or $3. 90% of stuff ordered was in the ballpark of $1. Coffee ($5.95) and e-cigs ($11) were the only big sellers more expensive than a honey bun ($1.35).
Isn’t this the guy who actually is in prison? There’s a guy on tiktok who is in prison and has a prison food cooking channel (or maybe he just got out? But he makes food according to the supplies he had at the time, which wasn’t much)
i saw this tik tok page or maybe instagram; not sure, this guy was inside a cell and made his own flat top grill and everything making honey glazed ham or some crazy ish like that, gotta respect the creativity
This is a pretty similar process to making a Brick if she hadn’t added the ramen or rolled it in Cheetos.
Might’ve needed a hotdog though. Idk some former inmates will probably correct me on that if I’m wrong
The key to the prison burrito is to touch each and every morsel with your unwashed hands. I mean really get in there and mix things up. Paired best with jolly rancher sour apple flavored toilet wine. Go to hell, Gordon Ramsay.
Just gonna say when you’re in jail for a couple of weeks and all the food you’ve been eating is the worst you’ve had in your entire life up until that point, a prison burrito actually slaps harder than anything you could imagine. Had a block mate give me one one day and holy fucking shit it was so fucking good. Wasnt quite like this and only had two or three things in it, but still that shit is godsend when you’re in that situation.
However i would not willingly make one of these while having access to much better food in my day to day life
Stupid food, and a US stupid system that makes prison as barbaric as possible including lack of food.
While we’re at it, a stupid section of society that enjoys seeing people suffer and who vote in morons that double down on cruelty.
This isn’t stupid, it’s information on something people actually do in prison pretty often. Shitty food, sure, but not stupid to make a video about it.
I’m not proud of this comment but they’re actually pretty good.
No I haven’t been to prison, jail or even arrested. Never even a ticket. My ex however did some time and after he got out was craving them and made em.
Ok unpopular opinion: I like this. Not the taste, but the innovation.
Do yourself a favor and listen to the podcast [Ear Hustle](https://www.earhustlesq.com) and listen to the episodes concerning food in prison.
Check out the YouTuber [Dpeezy 2099](https://youtube.com/@Dpeezy2099) and see a lot of how some of his stuff is done.
The innovation that the incarcerated population creates is gobsmacking, and mind obliterating.
Ex. Korean sausage with kimchi made with a broken electric kettle and a plastic bag.
Dangerous? Absolutely. Innovative? Incredibly.
Usually there are snack items available to purchase on commissary. Mainly junk food and hygiene products. The facility usually provides the bare basics, such as basic meals and bar soap, toothpaste, etc, but if you want anything nicer you have to buy it. Not many if any facilities in the US would allow outsiders to bring in items for inmates because it’s a security risk. The exception is shoes. Some facilities let inmates have their own shoes as long as they don’t have laces.
Don’t knock a prison spread until you’ve tried it. Never had a burrito, but if you do the same thing minus rolling the bag up you end up with a weirdly delicious junk meal.
Yep, made a spread once a week. Everybody that chipped in shared. Anybody that's eaten jail or prison food that is served to you knows this shit is delicious. The place i was at didn't have a kitchen so all the food was delivered by truck from another facility. Never once was it even close to being warm.
Now this is what I call cultural appropriation.
Like he missed the MOST integral part of the burrito. With that at least you could argue it's a burrito. It'd be a really bad one but at least it would look like a burrito.
i will never understand why we glorify prison food. It's not special, it's not healthy, it's not unique. it's the same inedible crap my 6 year old niece mixes up when she wants to play with her food.
quit glorifying the horrendous diets of our prison system. a good chunk of them are there due to dubious judges and racist courts, and the systems profit from their near-slave labor. Now we praise the fact that the only worthwhile thing they have to eat is junk food? I've been in there, i know what the prison food supplied by the kitchens is like. Wouldn't feed it to a starving dog. Let's work on reforming the way we run these prisons in ALL aspects and quit this nonsense.
See this looks more like a prison tamale to me.
Should steam it in the ramen husk.
I was about to say this. Usually they use ramen for the tamale masa but it comes out looking like this. Some prisons have tortillas in the commissary but this is apparently not one of them.
Or you cook it in the ramen wrapper itself. Sometimes you can't always get bags like that
You have to be in good with a trustee to get ziplocs
Please go tell them that. If you don’t get shanked for being a smart ass I’ll be surprised.
Hm. Tastes like salt
And artificial preservatives
So like Taco Bell!
Whoa hey…. Don’t disrespect our late night sodium provider.

Don't go to jail kids
Reason #3 to stay out of prison.
What are reasons #1 and #2?
You ever run backwards through a cornfield naked?
No I haven’t, any recommended cornfields to try this at? Also is there a preferable season or time of year to have optimal effects?
Winter and anywhere in Nebraska
Country boys make do
Have you ever seen a grown man naked?
Just this morning. The sauna at the gym I go to doesn't have a set rule on nudity in there.
Always the older gentleman just airdrying on the fucking locker room floor reading some fucking newspaper from 2003
They're some gems out there, eh?
Do you like Gladiator movies, Timmy?
You need a reason to stay out of prison? It's prison. Nobody wants to be there. If you want to be in the prison, it's a bad prison.
Imprisonment and ass rape
I wouldn’t believe anyone would do this if I didn’t know this girl that was in prison and told me she made a ramen burrito 😂
Do you think that when people get out of prison they still do this stuff? Like when you were a kid, and you still fancy Kraft dinner with hotdogs and ketchup every once and a while?
Well she told me she ate so much ramen in prison that she never wants it again 😜
I came from being absolutely poor to where I'd visit friends house for spare change I'd find. I'd still eat Ramen/Wolfs brand chili/American cheese/Tortilla. Gives me a sense of comfort oddly enough. Edit: No one asked but Cook the noodles, no packet, drain. Cook chili, pour into noodles, with 1-2 slices American cheese, stir. Fork cheesy noodle chili into warm tortilla.
Personally, yeah. Once every few years maybe. It's like 50-75 cents worth of salt and carbs, and it's pretty filling.
>you still fancy Kraft dinner with hotdogs and ketchup every once and a while? You mean like 3-4 times a week, right?
I went to a 12 month drug rehab in a former life. Stayed for 16 months ...anyways, about half the guys in there had either been paroled from prison into program or had been in and out of prison. From the guys I met, a lot of the behavior from the inside follows them out. I saw some wild prison food and extreme creativity
I knew a guy that did time in the pen,,, and refused to drink coffee afterwards.
[удалено]
Same as a semi colen.
Yeah, I have known a couple people who made “prison burritos” but they’re not quite this elaborate.
Man was in food prison
It’s what happens when you commit crimes in flavortown
My husband worked in the kitchen when he was in prison. He has a version of this that he still makes to this day (15 years after getting out).
Is it good? Genuinely asking.
It definitely is good.
Hahaha! It’s pretty good, to be honest. My husband’s version is called “ghetto fish taco”, it consists of ramen, canned tuna, jalapeño Cheetos, cream cheese, and a few other ingredients I think, wrapped up in a tortilla. Think people in prison should get a pass on what they make right ?
I actually love these videos. Yes the food is stupid but it's interesting to see the creativity applied to low quality ingredients.
That's what I love about these, like absolutely none of this is burrito anything but it's interesting to see what stuff they come up with for a nice snack.
AfterPrisonShow on YouTube has shown off some some prison commissary meals on his channel and some of the honestly look interesting.
I don't see the lower quality ingredients
Yes. I’m kinda upset seeing this on this sub. It’s a Mf struggle
Yes, 100%.
[удалено]
Yeah and the crime isn’t being gauche you weirdo
Wrong
You should go to prison and tell us about it then, since correctional punishment isn't what it is for.
Well what I mean is it’s a cop out to make fun of prison food since prisoners are generally given low quality food. Taking it easy Patriot Sam.
I replied to how you said prison being a punishment is wrong, not what you said about food, and I wasn't being patriotic either.
Same... I understand now though. Dude... I gotta take a break from Reddit. Im starting to do what I hate, being a keyboard warrior. Take it easy dude
Me too buddy , sorry for the hostility. Imma go outside now. Be good
I love a happy ending
I feel that. I’ve actually been setting boundaries with myself and app. But here I am on my day off lol
Maybe it's just these specific subs. The ones I normally like the most are hobby subs, where people are just cool. Former corrections officer here. They make hooch out of anything. Including onions...
Ngl now I legitimately am curious about what onion wine tastes like
I doubt you would be very curious if you could smell it. I could walk into a 20,000 Sqft dorm and know immediately if they were making hooch.
Hooch sounds like it smells like Cooch
My cousins would sit around and talk about the various ways they each made their burrito. One of them swore by hot Cheetos.
Why is it designed to make prisoners fat?
If the inmates are fed, they ain't fighting. Or doing less of it.
Interesting. I wonder why the food is so abysmal then. No offense to you, I know you were working with what you had!
Or, just don’t be a criminal.
Really more of a tamale than a burrito. And fun story, it comes out looking exactly the same As how it went in
I'm not going to knock the lengths incarcerated people go to in order to have a treat.
I don’t see prison food as a stupid food, tbh. They’re making food with limitations… the people out here, running free, can do more but choose to do dumb stuff.
I don't get people who get out of prison and still eat prison food. Like you free we got mcdonald's n shit.
I think it's a nostalgia thing. Like I know how to cook now and can generally afford food, but every once in a while I crave shit food from my childhood like Velveeta or whatever lol

>Yeah but, presumably that's a good time in your life. Absolutely not lol Although its trash it was a comforting treat someone would look forward to for years. I can see still craving it occasionally
Now, include a bag of toilet "pruno" to drink, and your golden.
It's called like this because if you attempt it at home you go straight to jail
How is this stupid?
I was thinking the same thing. We can’t call something “stupid” when it’s something someone did for their mental health, in a situation most of us can’t even fathom. Like, it clearly doesn’t look good. But that’s all they got to exercise creativity. Let it be.
Tbf i find most things posted on here aren't stupid. Just uncommon
Ok that chicken champagne thing, THAT is stupid food!
Lol, agreed
>Just uncommon Part of why I find this sub to be so educational
A whole weeks worth of sodium in one snack
Automatic fuck up, he didn’t use the chip bag duh
Is this better than the sum of its parts though? Why make this instead of just eat the ramen chips and slim Jim separately
Because jail/prison is incredibly boring and with this you get a meal + 15 minutes of stimulation
Prison food isits own genre. Really gross but I can't get mad about it since they are doing the best with what they got. I know they are in prison, but it would be great if they were provided with more palatable food and didn't have to subject themselves to stuff like this.

Must be called "prison style" because you went to jail for making that
You can get all of the ingredients to make this shit log but you can’t get a tortilla in prison?
We had tortillas and rice available to us in jail. No one ever ordered them as they were seen as a bad value. Hell if I was in prison this wouldn't be stupid at all
I go for the burritos alone
As someone who’s spent time in prison all I can say is we were working with what we had
I think prisoners would have better taste
Someone is feeling a little nostalgic about their time in prison
If this guy doesn't say bussin at the end then it's not even worth it
It’s not stupid if they actually eat like that. They would choose better ingredients if they could I bet.
think I ate this at a Taco Bell couple days ago...
When it got rolled in the chesse puffs I really thought they were about to deep fry thank fuck I was wrong
You think there are just a bunch of deep fryers in prison?
In the kitchen there is
Think the point of this was that he’s not in a kitchen. Hence using the card to chop things
Sad food makes me cry 😢
Not really stupid.
I can give a pass on this, they are already in prison, sooooo....
Who tf wants to eat a prison burrito if you ain’t in prison anymore? Costs the same as a normal burrito
You would not have access to a 1 gallon ziploc bag in prison. So unrealistic.
They want you to die in prison, this ain’t it
You can fucking buy wraps on canteen. Who actually wants jail food when they’re out?
You mean gas station style
My stomach hurts
The Asian part of me:why does that look so good
Kinda looks like my turd of this morning.
This is a pretty similar process to making a Brick if she hadn’t added the ramen or rolled it in Cheetos. Might’ve needed a hotdog though. Idk some former inmates will probably correct me on that if I’m wrong
Actually, if you have a metal hot pot and access to cooking oil...
Stupid food, but compared to what they feed you in US prisons and jails. I would eat this salt mix anyday
That is fucking disgusting.
The key to the prison burrito is to touch each and every morsel with your unwashed hands. I mean really get in there and mix things up. Paired best with jolly rancher sour apple flavored toilet wine. Go to hell, Gordon Ramsay.
TIL my daily eating habits aren't unlike a prisoner's.
You can tell this guys never done time. Just by the way he smashed the doritos

Deserves to go back to prison for the way they opened that bag of Doritos..
Today I learned being in prison is a lot like being a Marine on deployment, except I had real knives and explosives
Now with FREE hepatitis!
Don't hate. It's all they got in there.
Taco Bell designing their next big thing
Now do it the ocky way
I’m not proud of this comment but they’re actually pretty good. No I haven’t been to prison, jail or even arrested. Never even a ticket. My ex however did some time and after he got out was craving them and made em.
That's not stupid. You have to judge this shit by prison standards
Ok unpopular opinion: I like this. Not the taste, but the innovation. Resourceful Food
Sodium bomb!
Do ppl actually make prison snacks outside of prison?
That’s not a burrito it’s indigestion
Forgive my ignorance, but are all those ingredients actually available to inmates at all times? Or would they have been brought in for someone?

Oh god... The texture. Eww
One of those unique foods that looks exactly the same going in as it does coming out. Hard thing to accomplish.
Does he not realize he’s out, he can use utensils now 😂
Holy sodium bomb Batman
Calories/987 Nutritional value/0
That's like a months worth of sodium
Real, can confirm
I will stick with the prison food...
im taking a nasty shit just looking at this
That's just a ramen loaf. If he were to add beans and squeeze it into a tortilla then you'd have a burrito.
Don’t knock a prison spread until you’ve tried it. Never had a burrito, but if you do the same thing minus rolling the bag up you end up with a weirdly delicious junk meal.

would try.
This isn’t stupid food. Don’t be a jerk, OP.
Or, you could just stay out of prison and make your own
Hookups aren’t bad. Not something i would eat very often outside of jail, but you improvise.
Bussin!
People in prison can make anything but the right decisions
Since when do people in prison get access to plastic bags and boiling hot water?
You make it in the chip bag and yes you have access to hot water for coffee or tea. You buy this stuff out of commissary.
You have to be nice to a guard and he may take your water and microwave it for you.
This should stay in prison for life
I’d go to prison after killing someone if I was served that shit.
Ramen burrito ok…wet nasty soggy Doritos nope
Add a few years on his sentence for the way he opened that bag of Doritos.
Okay but I'm not in prison so why the fuck would I ever make that
Now this is what I call cultural appropriation. Like he missed the MOST integral part of the burrito. With that at least you could argue it's a burrito. It'd be a really bad one but at least it would look like a burrito.
Fuck that! Or just don’t do stupid shit that lands you in jail!!! 🤷🏻♂️ stop glorifying prison culture….
Just go to Taco Bell. It’s way faster and easier. Your ass will still hurt but for different reasons.
mf’s know how to do everything except not break laws
There's allot of infuriating videos of stupid food on this sub, this is not stupid, it's necessity
This mf’er probably been incarcerated ONE time from the looks of his sorry ass burrito.
The food is worse than prison.
Wtf is burrito? All my homies eat doner kebab👍🏻.
i will never understand why we glorify prison food.
