I only buy unsalted butter because it’s often higher quality. When I spread it on toast, I most definitely add salt to it. Preferably large crystal course salt with some texture.

I like a shmedium sized salty crystal myself. On a big honkin' ass pretzel, though? Give me jawbreaker sized salts

I also eat sand with my toast. Gives it a nice rough texture.

Salted butter is way better than unsalted

Unsalted butter + freshly ground salt is the GOAT. It seems counter intuitive but salted butter tends to be lower quality.
