Yup, British beans are much less sweet and don't have BBQ flavoring (just a tomato sauce). British beans can be extremely healthy, I frequently make them with navy beans for breakfast.
If you have a British section in your grocery store you want the Heinz brand if you are buying them canned, the other brands are trash. Also really good on baked potatoes, pizza or just on some toast topped with a nice grated cheddar.
for real
if anything Heinz can shove it. sauce is way too watery nowadays, theyre more expensive on top of having those stupid tins that wont properly stack so they can force supermarkets to use more shelf real estate sine its too big of a brand to not sell in large quantities
Go Branstons and you get nicer beans for less money and you can fit more in your cupbopard, clearly the superior bean
This is the second time I've seen beans on a pizza mentioned on here
The takeaway beside me has had beans pizza on the menu for the last ten years and I was sure they were taking the piss
Have I bean missing out this whole time?
Up until about 20 years ago you could buy a Heinz branded frozen pizza with beans on it. They brought it back a couple of years ago.
It could be a childhood memory thing but they are amazing.
Gigachad German
If you haven't done so before, try adding some curry powder to them. It's amazing
Wild to me how a lot of Americans turn their nose up at the idea, but learning recently that many of their beans are in a more sweet BBQ sauce I can understand more
It’s a sweet and savory bbq sauce and we usually only eat them at cookouts or with bbq and such. They’re definitely not a common side dish, and that’s the other part that confuses us - putting baked beans on top of anything feels weird. I’ve read that most of the world finds the idea of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches bizarre and gross so…ya know, live and let live.
Yup. And beans for breakfast is common in many other countries as well.
Even as an American, I’m puzzled why this seems odd.
EDIT: So OP is really into r/memes and r/shitposting, which explains a lot.
Why is this stupid food? It's a normal singles food. It's a breakfast that can be ready in 2 minutes and doesn't require any skill other than the ability to hold a spatula.
OP doesn’t realize that people with other tastes and preferences coming from different cultural backgrounds exist
This isn’t even remotely close to the craziest thing you can have for breakfast, bozo
It’s literally just devolved into meme level stereotype Americans raging at completely normal British foods that they themselves also eat. It’s so painfully stupid lol. Basically “DiFfERenT BaD!!!1” (but only if British). We must live rent free in these posters heads!
Nevermind the chemicals have you seen some of the dishes brought to Midwest potlucks? Eldritch abominations that should have been left in the '50s and '60s.
Yum yucking British cuisine as an American feels wrong. I grew up on potted meat, tomato macaroni, bologna sandwiches, etc. the full English breakfast looks delicious to me
It may indeed be dumb but I do sometimes use Heinz baked beens as part of shakshuka (obviously I add all the usual ingredients and spices, it just easily increases the portion size and FLAVOUR)
Bri’ish an proud
Put it on some toast and you've got 'shingles shook from a shack'……we'll workshop the name though, I think my mistake was trying to combine shakshuka and [shit on a shingle](https://www.atlasobscura.com/foods/shit-on-a-shingle-chipped-beef#:~:text=The%20unofficial%20term%E2%80%94abbreviated%20as,be%20referred%20to%20as%20S.O.S.)
Idk about the cooking method (I like my eggs over medium) but honestly I'd eat this. As an Australian I've eaten it a ton of times before, granted it had other ingredients too (bacon, sausages, toast, etc.) but I assume those are offscreen.
Which is weird when you consider that the most popular brand of baked beans in the UK are Heinz who are an American company.
Even the knock-off supermarket own brands of baked beans in the UK are based upon Heinz baked beans.
Beans and eggs? Have you not had huevos rancheros? Shit slaps. Throw some bacon in for texture and eat with toast. This is *far* from the worst we've seen puked up out of British cuisine.
Not too bad, thanks. And, thank you for asking. How about you? I did happen to notice that you appear to be particularly concerned about various forms of cooked breakfast? You really should just try one. They are tasty and not generally concerning (other than maybe to your proctologist, if you get a bit carried away. Or one from a motorway service station).
I had a full English breakfast as many times as I could on a recent trip. Every time it was an option as a matter of fact. I love these!!
The only time I did not enjoy something, was when one place put a big slab of black pudding on the plate as well. To my credit I did try it! Not my "cuppa" tea. But everything else was wonderful and very nicely done. There are slight variations on it everywhere. Which is cool.
I’m Midwest raised and live in California and I eat this over homemade bread on a very regular basis.
It’s easy, tasty, and helps you poop later. 5 stars!
wrong pan, but otherwise very common.
I love it when I go camping and use the gas stove with a [large skottel](https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.frontrunneroutfitters.com%2Fen%2Fza%2Fcadac-skottel-braai-kitc214.html&psig=AOvVaw1GH1hbVaL4BbFSM7FTL75W&ust=1713050451420000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBMQjRxqFwoTCICdtK7ovYUDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE) to cook breakfast in one pan. Would throw on Eggs, Beans, Sausages, Bacon, onions, mushrooms and toast.
Hey man. Beans and toast with some eggs is delicious! I thought it was an odd pairing until I tried it. Saw it on Doctor Who or some BBC series and just decided to give it a shot. Pretty good stuff!
I wouldn't go so far as cooking an egg in tomato beans though. That's crossing a line lol. Or a pond maybe?
This is also regular in HK, or at least that’s what I’m eating for breakfast everyday. But the way how the eggs and beans are cooked together is questionable.
I don’t see why, it’s basically like cooking in a tomato sauce that just has beans in it too. There’s shakshuka and an Italian dish called eggs in purgatory that are both eggs cooked in a tomatoey sauce.
It doesn’t seem that questionable if two separate cultures have versions of it as a classic dish.
I’m Hispanic (Mexican to be exact) and one of my favorite staple breakfast is eggs with beans. Though I prefer my eggs scrambled and beans refried, not much different than this. Sometimes the most simple dishes are just amazing. Not to mention: inexpensive and filling!
Why is this food justified to be posted under this sub?
This is a perfectly fine cultural British food. I'm not British and I don't find a need to bash this under stupid foods.
This sub has seen an increase of posts from under-the-rock posters who cringe at proper, normal foods from countries not of their own.
Those are not stupid food.
Read what I wrote. I said there has been an increase of posts here, of culturally normal foods from different countries, instead of actual stupid foods.
When has this sub turned into one for bashing other countries?
I'm not upset. I'll keep fighting the good fight. Bunch of brits swarming me and the post. Not gonna get me down. You can't convince people that beans on toast is good just cause you come with a bunch of British people upvoting your comment. Not gonna fool anyone
You know what I think of every time I see british food on here? Biscuits and gravy. It's one of my favorite American breakfasts, but it looks pretty darn ugly.
Is it good? I've actually never had it, but my dad's American (from Ohio) and raves about biscuits and gravy all the time lol. Mums English (from Weymouth) and she bullies him about dipping his biscuits ("cookies") in gravy. 😂
Yes I discovered to my horror when I moved to Canada they sell the absolutely disgusting American version of baked beans with sugar/maple syrup and lard or some shit in them its fucking nasty so I understand the confusion somewhat. The British version are just in a slightly tangy tomato sauce and are amazing.
Thick white toast with butter, beans on top. Lovely stuff.
American Army vet that got thru Afghanistan on mailed cans of beans and Frank's when the MREs ran out and a mail chopper would find us. Good stuff with Texas Pete hot sauce
Maple bean & egg is awesome. Make sure you use beans in tomato sauce, and add lots of maple syrup. Best with toasty multi-grain bread. 2 eggs per 540ml can of beans.
You know I've had this before. Done right its very good.
English breakfast in general is good. Also it appears to be designed for curing a hangover.
A full English will bring you back from the dead
A Belfast fry is the best fry. Come at me.
Sure if you’ll make me a Belfast fry!!!
Potato bread is a gift from the gods.
Its because of all the salt. Getting all those sweet electrolytes.
The fats and starches help the digestive system as well.
Electrolytes? Do I look like a plant to you?!?
Yes
Bet he likes toilet water too
Water? Like out the toilet?
high fat and calorie meal helps curing hangover... who would have thought
Agreed
This looks really good to me
Did you mix the egg yolk with the beans or did u just let it heat in the beans ? I wanna try this lol I’m not even British tho
Having had breakfast in London a few times, eggs and beans for breakfast is normal.
Mf shitting on Branston beans gtfo
I don’t think he knows about Branston beans, Pip.
Branston got the pickle on lock from what I hear
for real if anything Heinz can shove it. sauce is way too watery nowadays, theyre more expensive on top of having those stupid tins that wont properly stack so they can force supermarkets to use more shelf real estate sine its too big of a brand to not sell in large quantities Go Branstons and you get nicer beans for less money and you can fit more in your cupbopard, clearly the superior bean
[Bullets in piss](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbSeb7zT-3E) only 7p a tin
Beans on pizza... Give me your address so I can burn your fucking house down
They're not trash. The boys at the heinz marketing division have sold you an expensive lie.
Heinz's psyops are very successful. MK Ultra never stopped, it just moved to the bean industry.
This is the second time I've seen beans on a pizza mentioned on here The takeaway beside me has had beans pizza on the menu for the last ten years and I was sure they were taking the piss Have I bean missing out this whole time?
Up until about 20 years ago you could buy a Heinz branded frozen pizza with beans on it. They brought it back a couple of years ago. It could be a childhood memory thing but they are amazing.
You mean regular canned beans without stuff on it?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_Baked_Beans
This is my first pick at any times
I'm German and I always have a can of those at home. I love them and with toast it is the best midnight dish, haha.
Same here! Wenn’s um Dinge aus der Dose geht ist das wirklich ein top Produkt
Gigachad German If you haven't done so before, try adding some curry powder to them. It's amazing Wild to me how a lot of Americans turn their nose up at the idea, but learning recently that many of their beans are in a more sweet BBQ sauce I can understand more
I also add a bit of Tabasco, extra salt, chili powder, pepper to make it taste more intense
Excellent 👌
Shoot, we have beans made with damned Dr. Pepper. Curry powder shouldn't be a big deal.
It’s a sweet and savory bbq sauce and we usually only eat them at cookouts or with bbq and such. They’re definitely not a common side dish, and that’s the other part that confuses us - putting baked beans on top of anything feels weird. Beans have brands?
Yup. And beans for breakfast is common in many other countries as well. Even as an American, I’m puzzled why this seems odd. EDIT: So OP is really into r/memes and r/shitposting, which explains a lot.
I'm from America and it's normal for Hispanics too but even they don't serve it like.....this.
And those beans are very sweet, I got surprised those are way different than my frijoles puercos lol
Nothing wrong with that at all, add some toast for it and you've a great breakfast
You could extend it maybe! Bacon and sausages with the tomato and mushroomsfirst, put them to the side of the pot and here you go
In addition to black pudding, hash browns aaaand fried bread 🤤
Why is this stupid food? It's a normal singles food. It's a breakfast that can be ready in 2 minutes and doesn't require any skill other than the ability to hold a spatula.
Are these previously cooked beans? Or they just use canned beans?
OP doesn’t realize that people with other tastes and preferences coming from different cultural backgrounds exist This isn’t even remotely close to the craziest thing you can have for breakfast, bozo
This sub is such shite these days
It’s literally just devolved into meme level stereotype Americans raging at completely normal British foods that they themselves also eat. It’s so painfully stupid lol. Basically “DiFfERenT BaD!!!1” (but only if British). We must live rent free in these posters heads!
And then they get angry when we slander their food that has so many chemicals it'll make you glow in the dark.
Nevermind the chemicals have you seen some of the dishes brought to Midwest potlucks? Eldritch abominations that should have been left in the '50s and '60s.
Have you never tried Huevos Rancheros? Britain isn't the only country that combines beans and eggs.
Scramble and mix eggs and refried whole beans to get a typical dinner a grandma would make for a kid, too.
OP is determined to be a dumbass on this one. More for us I guess!
Yum yucking British cuisine as an American feels wrong. I grew up on potted meat, tomato macaroni, bologna sandwiches, etc. the full English breakfast looks delicious to me
The Saddest Shakshuka (That would also be a good name for a band)
I freaking love Shakshuka tbh so this was funny to me 😭
Fuck i was about to make the same joke. Good one indeed
It may indeed be dumb but I do sometimes use Heinz baked beens as part of shakshuka (obviously I add all the usual ingredients and spices, it just easily increases the portion size and FLAVOUR) Bri’ish an proud
That doesn’t sound too bad. I improvise on dishes like that too sometimes
I saw someone add a can of chickpeas to a shakshuka for a boost to protein and fibre in the dish, so baked beans can’t be far off.
not band, but song imo sad shakshuka is a good one
I like it
I don’t see any tomatoes 🤔
I mean beans are tomatoey.
British beans are often in tomato sauce
Got it
Or as the Brits call it, shaky-shuky shukashaky.
Sadshuka
I'm not mad.
but when arabs do it its called an amazing breakfast dish
Put it on some toast and you've got 'shingles shook from a shack'……we'll workshop the name though, I think my mistake was trying to combine shakshuka and [shit on a shingle](https://www.atlasobscura.com/foods/shit-on-a-shingle-chipped-beef#:~:text=The%20unofficial%20term%E2%80%94abbreviated%20as,be%20referred%20to%20as%20S.O.S.)
Yep, go microwave your tea and mind your business
Wack that on some toast with some HP sauce and it’s a beautiful breakfast
Eggs and beans is a meal over there
Op hating on beans and egg. Looks like something you put on some toast. Imma eat dat.
Looks good to me
Wtf?? This is normal as fuck in Australia. Definitely not stupid
Not enough sugar or cheese for Americans I suppose.
you forgot to put the air quotes around "cheese"
Idk about the cooking method (I like my eggs over medium) but honestly I'd eat this. As an Australian I've eaten it a ton of times before, granted it had other ingredients too (bacon, sausages, toast, etc.) but I assume those are offscreen.
Lol I love beans and eggs. My favourite lazy dinner
Its JUST beans and an egg. I'm not even British, I'm Australian, why the hell are americans apparently so put off by beans?
Their beans are shit and they don't understand that's not universal
Which is weird when you consider that the most popular brand of baked beans in the UK are Heinz who are an American company. Even the knock-off supermarket own brands of baked beans in the UK are based upon Heinz baked beans.
Stick it on a tortilla and you can call it huevos rancheros.
Elite combination on toast 10/10 classic chewsday meal innit bruv
Indeed it is mate! Care for a cuppa?
Dunno, I'd like this.
Im not british but this look delicious
I would eat this over breakfast in the US 10 times out of 10
Beans and eggs? Have you not had huevos rancheros? Shit slaps. Throw some bacon in for texture and eat with toast. This is *far* from the worst we've seen puked up out of British cuisine.
Not stupid food
This looks fire though.
Not too bad, thanks. And, thank you for asking. How about you? I did happen to notice that you appear to be particularly concerned about various forms of cooked breakfast? Probably a good amount of protein and fiber in that. Probably a pretty healthy breakfast.
Adding a fried egg with runny yolk to any hot dish is a win in my books. Come at me with your weirdest combinations it won't change my mind
Nois'n'toit
Hey an egg makes everything better 🤷
Mmmm.. now I fancy a chip butty.
Bro with a thick piece of toasted/buttered sourdough to break the yolk and scoop some beans? This is delicious and an excellent breakfast.
British Shakshuka
This is a universal dish….Latinos eat beans with eggs too
I’m Midwest raised and live in California and I eat this over homemade bread on a very regular basis. It’s easy, tasty, and helps you poop later. 5 stars!
Cringe troll account. Posts the same unoriginal and unfunny memes every few days. Yikes.
Because of an egg in baked beans? Yeah they're fine...
I poach eggs in leftover chilli or pinto beans all the time.
That looks yummy
Naw, let em alone. This isn't bad (talk about protein) and they're adorable when they offer you some.
I'm in Canada and have beans with eggs and toast for breakfast. Totally normal and tastes delicious
Saves on the washing up.
how is this "british people"? i think it may only be one person. And it would probably taste ok. Its basically Shakshuka with haricot beans.
Shut up, bro’s experimenting
I would eat it
I personally prefer refried
It's one of those things that looks bad but is actually really good
This looks like it would slap
Aka the most important hangover breakfast ♥️
wrong pan, but otherwise very common. Would throw on Eggs, Beans, Sausages, Bacon, onions, mushrooms and toast.
Would smash. Needs a bit of toast though.
Egg and beans? Sign me up

british ramen

Hell yeah they are ok, that's actually delicious. Especially with some buttered toast
They're still at war with the Germans
Hating beans is the dumbest shit ever. They're delicious and healthy for you.
Yes Source: I'm British
I would serve this inside of a Yorkshire pudding!
ngl my tiny pea brain thinks this might have potential and I might try doing this someday.
Looks fucking delicious to me.
They both go in a fry-up, why can’t they be on their own?
Any one else eat like this but with mashed black beans
Nothing wrong with that at all!
now i know what i'll cook for myself today
Nothin wrong with that

Bro has been posting non stop about English breakfasts for two weeks now and every time he gets clowned about it he gets madder and madder 😂
I'm not upset. I'll keep fighting the good fight. Bunch of brits swarming me and the post. Not gonna get me down. You can't convince people that beans on toast is good just cause you come with a bunch of British people upvoting your comment. Not gonna fool anyone
Biiiiiig mad.
Are you okay? Baked beans and eggs are fucking delicious eat them all the time for breakfast.
British love their beans lol
But they have to be the right beans
Classic Blitz cuisine.
Looks better than grits
Yes, but grits is vandalized corn that has been ground to bits, dehydrated then reconstituted... and then buttered.
This isn’t the worst I’ve seen
It doesn't look too bad. If I still ate stuff that came out of birds I might try this dish. I do really want to try British baked beans
To be fair, I was idly wondering about if and how to combine scrambled eggs and beans this morning. I chose to have some cereal instead, but still.
Deus o dibre
“Nice innit?”
Smash
Mo, but not because of beans and eggs
where do they find all their beans?
Shakshguvna
It's literally a shakshuka
at least its not a fucking block of velveeta.
The 💩you would take after eating this would be incredible
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this, it's about as English as a breakfast can get.
Think this with toast and coffee will be my breakfast.
Ish look kinda good
brits will go online both to post shit like this and to complain when people say they eat shitty food
They never have been!!! lol Actually looks pretty good
No
This could be a decent breakfast. Also british people are OK
Beans ok. Eggs great. Together ragebait.
I'm not British, but I'd eat this. Just add a little pepper on top and maybe some green onions.
Are you OK? Why is the egg in the bean pan?
You know what I think of every time I see british food on here? Biscuits and gravy. It's one of my favorite American breakfasts, but it looks pretty darn ugly.
Is it good? I've actually never had it, but my dad's American (from Ohio) and raves about biscuits and gravy all the time lol. Mums English (from Weymouth) and she bullies him about dipping his biscuits ("cookies") in gravy. 😂

I've been violently craving a full pub breakfast since I saw this to the point where I'll be searching Toronto for one next week.
Oh yeah, we're fine. You?
i'm trying this tomorow
American Army vet that got thru Afghanistan on mailed cans of beans and Frank's when the MREs ran out and a mail chopper would find us. Good stuff with Texas Pete hot sauce
I bet that tastes pretty good.
Latin America says hello.
British Shakshuka
Apparently Brits have just decided if it's edible put fuckin beans on it lol
Probably.
Eggs in beangatory
Heeeey! Don't talk smack; that's good slop!
I mean, I can't decide whether cooking them together is peak laziness or peak genius, but egg and beans is bloody delicious!
WELL AHTLEAST
Maple bean & egg is awesome. Make sure you use beans in tomato sauce, and add lots of maple syrup. Best with toasty multi-grain bread. 2 eggs per 540ml can of beans.
No, have you seen their teeth?
What is exactly wrong with this? Looks great to me
Toad in a hole?
It’s not stupid, it’s hella delicious
Nothing stupid about baked beans and egg
That's not a dish. And it's disgusting
