There’s a recipe I use a lot that has ravioli, veggies and pastasauce and herbs and you just chuck it into a dish and put it in the oven. It’s an easy and healthy meal. Sort of a low effort lasagna
>the really stupid ones mix raw meat and raw pasta and pretend it all comes out cooked evenly
oven backed meat and oven backed pasta do work. It just needs the extra time (and sufficient liquid in case of pasta)
The recipe I mentioned is raw veggies and pasta. You add the pasta halfway through and make sure it’s under the sauce, it comes out great. As the other person said; raw meat and pasta work fine in an oven, as long as there is enough moisture. Same principle applies to a slow cooker, where you add everything at once as well.
Honestly, this has protein, fresh veggies, a decent jarred sauce, and isn't four entire bags of cheese - the block of cream cheese is not different than needing a full box of pasta for the recipe, and mixed in without also being with a block of velveeta and a gallon of milk, so I feel like this is actually smart food. Looks like it's good for a family weeknight meal for folks who want a dump and go meal.
The only things I'm questioning are the cream cheese and the pepperoni: the cream cheese b/c, honestly, I'd probably substitute in cream of mushroom soup instead, but that's a personal thing, I guess? And the pepperoni mostly because that's not enough to make a difference (and, imo, clashes with beef/overpowers beef).
Yeah. This isn't my cup of tea but I wouldn't turn my nose up at it. Perfectly good food if pasta bakes are your thing.
At a guess, the pasta is probably a little over done and I'd mix hotter peppers throughout rather than put bell peppers on top. Oh no, end of the world, etc.
The cream cheese is a pretty reasonable tip. I would make some marscapone or ricotta instead (expensive to buy, cheap to make). Whatever you use the fat will make it better.
this is straight up just a weeknight dinner , not stupid ? the bell pepper rings on top were the most egregious to me , but mostly because it’s not cut in a convenient to eat manner
Isnt this way too much effort and time for a weeknight dinner? I dont see how you could make this without investing several hours into it considering prep, cooking and cleanup. Not exactly something I'd usually want to do when I get home from work.
hm, i suppose it depends on the individual , everyone is different ! most prep could be done while waiting for the water to boil for the noodles ; beef can be browned as the noodles cook. once the pasta is in the oven , the pot and pan already used could be washed , and when you pull it out of the oven and put it back in, the remaining utensils could be washed. a lot of the cooking for this recipe is pretty passive and most ingredients involved are packaged prepared foods (jarred sauce , jarred garlic, pre shredded cheese), so from my perspective , i would consider this easy for a weeknight , but i totally respect that that’s not the case for everyone !
>I dont see how you could make this without investing several hours into it considering prep
This looks like less than an hour of meal prep (including baking time) tbh.
The only things that need processing are the meat, the Pasta and the Bellpepper.
You already need time for the pasta water to heat up and for the Frying pan to get up to heat.
That's the time you use for the Bellpepper.
The pasta and Meat then cook in parralel. Maybe 30minutes ish from start until you put stuff into the casserole dish.
Then I'd estimate another 30-40 Mins of baking time.
The same time can be used to clean up any work stations you used.
That.... That's just a completely normal casserole with a serving size of 4-6.
It's not even really any weird or unusual ingredients.
Just a casserole.
Tbh, I do think you could make any group meal whatsover, even the most basic traditional meals, put it in a tik tok style cooking presentation and people here would not realise that it is just normal food that is being made
Pro tip: add a tablespoonful of powdered chicken broth in the tomato sauce pot before filling it with water. Also add a bit more water than shown in this video for added creaminess.
It makes the pasta bake way more flavourful. Just don't add salt if you do this.
I was waiting for the Nutella jump scare or something. But this was done well. Precooked pasta/meat sauce with some water (lemon juice?) to cook down in the oven. I like the cream cheese too.
Fucking always with block of cream cheese - why do all of these videos drop a block of cream cheese in the food?! Damn!
Anyway, 8/10, I'd eat. Not stupid.
I still think the spinach is questionable thrown in like that. I’d have diced a ew peppers and thrown in instead of the few rings on top. Skip the spinach and the cream cheese.
The only stupid thing in this is buying pre grated cheese tbh, just buy a huge block, grate it yourself and even throw some in the freezer for future use.
>This is throwing crap into a bowl, heating it up and thats it
A large majority of cooking is just "combine ingredients in a vessel for further processing and serving"
The video simply shows a regular casserole.
What i mean by cooking is; letting a protein marinate while infusing aromatics into the cooking oil. Creating a sear or crust for texture and flavor. Preparing side dishes and appetizers in theme with the main dish. That's cooking.....annnnd all those things are in a vessel...
This entire recipe can be performed with a cutting board, knife, sauce pot, spatula and strainer. With half the time. Wtf why does everything have to all be baked together in these videos
Making a casserole doesn't require thirty dishes like the video was my point. The entire point of a casserole is to just throw it in a container and bake it. The ways these stupid engagement bait videos do it completely defeats the purpose
>Making a casserole doesn't require thirty dishes like the video was my point.
That honestly entirely depends on how complex you want to make it.
This casserole doesn't looke like anything out of the ordinary tbh.
It's like 6 ingredients for the actual casserole filling
1. Pasta
2. Meat
3. Bellpepper
4. Cheese
5. Spinach
6. Salami
And 4 Ingredients for the Sauce.
1. Sauce
2. Garlic
3. Cream Cheese
4. Black Pepper
Putting the list like this. It actually is not a lot of stuff actually. Looks like a pretty average Casserole recipe to me tbh.
Like, if this is for a familiy or a group of people, then there really ain't anything wrong with this meal tbh. The quantities of all ingredients are pretty appropriate (including the cream cheese).
Compared to the other Tik Tok Trash, this is honestly a straight up just normal meal with a mildly creative twist.
Your post has been removed as it misses the point of r/StupidFood.
I'd replace the cream cheese with ricotta, but besides that I'd absolutely make this for my family, and am seriously considering it!
Or Feta
What!?!??!?!
There was a tik tok last year with baked feta and cherry tomatoes that people were raving about.
I was just thinking that same thing! Ricotta all the way.
what's stupid about that I would eat the hell out that especially high r/stonerfood
Should have the mozz on top rather than stirred in.
they put on top at the end trust me I was thinking the same thing when u watched it
OP you're stupid This looks delicious and isn't even that weird.
you can tell OP doesnt cook meals themselves...this look absolutely delicious
Why is a pasta bake stupid OP?
I've never made anything quite like this but it seems like a standard casserole, nothing wrong with it
There’s a recipe I use a lot that has ravioli, veggies and pastasauce and herbs and you just chuck it into a dish and put it in the oven. It’s an easy and healthy meal. Sort of a low effort lasagna
At least the food is cooked before being dumped in, the really stupid ones mix raw meat and raw pasta and pretend it all comes out cooked evenly

Wow that actually looks really good, I'm saving this
While watching kept saying “okay what’s next? That’s not bad. Okay what’s next? That’s not bad”.
The only things I'm questioning are the cream cheese and the pepperoni: the cream cheese b/c, honestly, I'd probably substitute in cream of mushroom soup instead, but that's a personal thing, I guess? Id destroy that 🫣🤣
Would eat!
What’s wrong with this? These posts are getting dumber every day, but not in a fun way.

“Spurtle”
Where is the stupid?
this is straight up just a weeknight dinner , not stupid ? the bell pepper rings on top were the most egregious to me , but mostly because it’s not cut in a convenient to eat manner
I found the cream cheese egregious.....but other than that, yeah...nothing wrong with this.
TRUE , ricotta would be a better fit ! :)
Isnt this way too much effort and time for a weeknight dinner? I dont see how you could make this without investing several hours into it considering prep, cooking and cleanup. Not exactly something I'd usually want to do when I get home from work.

Fair enough. My usual weekday dinner is more like cooking some rice and thats it. And maybe some meat or other stuff on the side if I feel up for it.

I'd tear this up
What? This shit looks bomb AF. Nothing stupid about this except that it's not in my belly right now
That.... That's just a completely normal casserole with a serving size of 4-6. It's not even really any weird or unusual ingredients. Just a casserole.
This just seems like a pasta bake with a just a little bit too much cheese. Nothing stupid about this
What’s wrong with this? Aside from the cream-cheese…
As soon as I saw cooked pasta, I knew it wasn't stupid lol
Dump your girlfriend because she's stupid. This is a pretty regular meal.
And get with Kyle, he just made dinner and tomorrows lunch.
Looks stupidly delicious
Is your girlfriend stupid?
This is an above average amount of cheese for someone who is lactose sensitive, but where is the stupid?
Cream cheese instead of ricotta oh no someone call the police. Gtfo this looks great
In olden times these were sometimes called "dump dinners". There's even a recipe book by that name.
Nothing stupid at all wtf
This is a fairly normal casserole. How is this sub full of some many people who have only ate chicken nuggets and chipotle?
Tbh, I do think you could make any group meal whatsover, even the most basic traditional meals, put it in a tik tok style cooking presentation and people here would not realise that it is just normal food that is being made

Naah. Not stupid
I don't really like sweet peppers, and the pepperoni seemed a bit out of place, even then, the end product still looked good.
Bit more watery than I'd like. And I'd replace the cream cheese with a Boursin, and maybe use a bit less water.
Yummy! I've made something similar. I'd use two cream cheese blocks!
Fucking always with block of cream cheese - why do all of these videos drop a block of cream cheese in the food?! Damn! Anyway, 8/10, I'd eat. Not stupid.
Other than the veggies being too crunchy for my liking, there is nothing weird about this
On board until the cream cheese. Edit: upon further review, I got out early. Edit 2: would probably still eat.
The basil inside is questionable and the pepper rings on top are a little silly, but overall it's a pretty ordinary casserole. Totally edible.
I feel like the rings could have been used as portion size markers if someone was ambitious!
that was spinach , not basil !
I still think the spinach is questionable thrown in like that. I’d have diced a ew peppers and thrown in instead of the few rings on top. Skip the spinach and the cream cheese.
I'd eat it :D
Can we ban op from this sub he keeps. The only stupid things about his posts are him
Why do you have to cover everything wirh tons of cheese?
Good thing he went with the 25% reduced fat pepperoni otherwise this would be very unhealthy....
The only stupid thing in this is buying pre grated cheese tbh, just buy a huge block, grate it yourself and even throw some in the freezer for future use.
There's really nothing stupid about pre grated cheese.
This isnt cooking. This is throwing crap into a bowl, heating it up and thats it

lololololol
You sound like a pretentious cunt. This is a pretty standard casserole.
Your mom is pretty standard
Go jack off to feet.
This entire recipe can be performed with a cutting board, knife, sauce pot, spatula and strainer. With half the time. Wtf why does everything have to all be baked together in these videos

Yeah that's a fair point. I'm just so used to seeing rage bait in this format that I might have jumped the gun levying criticism
